A marriage of convenience to her friend's hot af baseball playing brother? ✔
Getting custody of her teenage sister? Soon to be ✔
Not developing feelings for her friend turned husband? Uh not so check...

Jaxon's off the diamond antics have gotten him in hot water so that now he needs something (someone) to help him repair his image. Macy needs to prove she's got a stable home life so she can gain custody of her teenage sister. So a marriage of convenience is just the right thing for both of them. Well, if they can keep their hearts out of the bargain...

Carly's at it again with these awesome Dares! I loved Jaxon and Macy. They're sweet together, as friends already, and then that chemistry?! Whew! Hot!!! As each Dare graces my Kindle, I swear I fall more in love. Jaxon is a sweetheart, and I love how he fell, unrealizing at first, for equally sweet Macy. Sweet and sexy engaging marriage of convenience, the perfect thing to end my day. And now I can't wait for little brother Braden's story when Dare to Stay releases.

This book ranks really high on the Carly meter for me. What a great story! I will be the first to roll my eyes at a let’s get married only because I need something but we will never fall in love storyline because they can be very predictable but this story was too much fun for me to care! LOL PLUS, the chemistry was delicious, and their personalities just blended so well that you just can’t help but sit and read in one sitting! These Prescott men and their women are really hitting the sweet spot for me!

4.5 sexy and flirty with a huge heart STARS!

These Dare books are like crack. 😂 Totally unrealistic but entertaining and addictive all the same. My favorite character through this whole Prescott series is Bri and I realized today her book is a novella. Not happy. My second favorite sibling so far was Jaxon. Even though this one was bordering on instalove (which I abhor) I liked this one a lot. On to Dr. Braden Prescott. I love a second chances romance.

Additionally, Erin Mallon and Joe Arden are amazing with the narration.

This series is so much fun! I love the giant Prescott/Dare clan, and this book had my two favorite tropes: best friend's brother, and marriage of convenience!!

Jaxon Prescott comes from a large family, and he is a pro baseball player. His rep off the field lately is causing him issues, though. He sleeps around a lot, sometimes with some problematic people, not to mention a fight in a bar getting caught on film and going viral. His older brother, who is also his agent, and his sister, who is his publicist, are sick of his crap, and tell him to shape up or else. He needs to do something to help his image and show him as more "settled down" before his team drops him, or trades him.

Macy Walker is struggling. She is self-employed as a graphic designer, which is going great. But, since her father's death less than a year ago, she's been the guardian of her 15-year-old half-sister. But when her sister Hannah's mom shows up, 5 years after walking out, and claims she wants custody, Macy needs whatever leverage she can get to win in court. Her best friend Brianne's brother is having a hard time too. They're already attracted to one another, so maybe they can help each other out by getting married. Temporarily, of course! It'll be the perfect fix for both of them, as long as they don't fall in love.

Macy and Jaxon had major chemistry from their first meeting, but Macy never took his interest seriously because he was such a player, and she didn't really have time to date anyway. But when they meet again at Jaxon's brother's wedding, it is on! I loved their connection and how they were truly there for each other, and helped each other with their issues. Whenever one of them was having doubts or problems, the other one was a solid presence to count on. They were a united front, and neither of them had felt supported like that before.

Most of the side characters here are recurring throughout the series, and I loved seeing Jaxon's big family again. Macy's sister Hannah was the typical angst-ridden teenage girl, and I think we all remember what that was like! She was hard on Macy, but she had been hurt so much in her life, that you still felt bad for her. Hannah's mom was a piece of work though, and I enjoyed how that storyline all played out.

I adored this couple and their accidental fall into love! The next book is about Jaxon's brother, Braden, the doctor, and it's a second chance romance. So, I imagine it'll have a bit of a different feel than these first 3 books. I'm excited to read it!

Jaxon Prescott comes from a large family and he is a pro baseball player and his good at it. But lately his antics has been getting him into some trouble. So his PR (who is also his sister)and his manager (who is his brother) is on his case to clean up his image. And what better way to do it than to show his stable and settled so that means getting a... Wife...😬

Macy Walker is the best friend to Jaxons sister and she is in trouble. She needs to show a stable environment for her 15year old stepsister who she is the guardian for since her dad passed away. Especially now that Hannah's mother showed up and wants custody of her. So maybe she and Jaxon can help each other out. They already have the chemistry, so getting married should be a breeze... Right...

From the moment they met these two had chemistry, but Macy didn't think that Jaxon was serious, look at his reputation. I loved their connection with each other. That they were both invested in their 'relationship' and when the other was struggling they helped the one struggling. From the minute they went on this journey they were both invested in it, so falling inlove just came naturally 😊

I loved this story. It was sweet and sexy and dramatic and so much more. You will love watching these two fall inlove and navigate their new normal💖💖💖

I've been a fan of the series since I read the first book. I'll be honest and say this wasn't my favorite but it was still a great read.

I liked Jaxson and Macy. Together they made a great team. I loved how they balanced each other. As for the falling in love?? It was only a matter of time so the pace of the book was perfectly timed and it left me with a huge smile at the end of it.

The next book is a second chance - to say I'm excited is such an understatement. Can't wait...

Carly Phillips Dare Nation series bks 01-04

Playboy Status: Retired

Oh, these lovable Prescotts. Jaxon Prescott acts selflessly when he makes a pact with Macy Walker. Yeah, yeah, I know, it's not completely selfless, but I love how he embraces the new situation. The abundance of steam that rolls off them doesn't hurt either. 😘❤️‍🔥

Reaching out, he stroked a finger down her cheek, the calluses on the pads rough, masculine, and making her tingle. “You must not get complimented enough. I could change that.”
-- Jaxon Prescott

I love how dedicated Macy is to giving Hannah a stable life, even though the teenager is frequently testing every nerve and boundary presented. She could've easily given in to Lilah's demands, but the fact that she didn't? I'll always cheer for those that fight for vulnerable kids. 👍🎉 She proves to be a stand-up sister many times over. How Jaxon balances and calms her makes everything even better.

The standard cornucopia of family, close and distant, make appearances in this extended Dare family book/series. I love all of the little mentions and appearances. Nothing that requires prior reading, but it makes for happy moments for me.

I borrowed the audio book. I read along with the audio book. The narrators are Joe Arden and Erin Mallon, both of whom I like. I love that we get two narrators for this series. Of course, I now want to go the next step and have them in duet, but I'll settle for this. 😘 🎧🩷🎧

All of a sudden her sisters mom shows up in the picture and wants to take her away. She isn't quite sure how she is going to fix things but a plan needs to show itself first.

The two decide to marry and hope by doing so both their lives will take a turn for the better. Follow along as the two try to keep their feelings at bay while trying to turn their lives around. Just what I needed
5 stars

This is the third book in Carly Phillips’s Dare Nation series - a spin-off from previous Dare series. I mean, all these Dares are connected in some convoluted way. Who knows how Ms Phillips keeps things straight in her head! But for readers, this book does have cameos from other characters from this series and beyond, but it stands completely alone and comes with its own HEA. Job’s a good ‘un.

This is the story of Jaxon and Macy; two characters who, on the surface, seem completely different from each other. Jaxon is a big-time baseball player, currently in a spot of bother due to some brawling and less than stellar choices of sexual partner. Macy, on the other hand, is raising her 15 year old sister and is pretty much all business and no pleasure. She even has a wicked stepmother to deal with - back to challenge Macy for custody of said sister.

Despite their differences, and their tentative connection (Macy is the best friend of Brianne - Jaxon’s sister), at a wedding, the pair connect and spend the night together. From there, an ill-timed paparazzi shot brings the elements of our story together - Jaxon’s reputation and Macy’s custody battle - culminating in the plan for a quickie, if fake, marriage. Hey - it’s not the craziest idea ever and it would solve both their problems.

But even before the wedding, Jaxon and Macy are continually shooting sparks. They can barely keep their hands off each other - and I felt it. The sexual chemistry between this pair was stomach clutchingly fantastic and they get it on pretty frequently throughout the book. Happy campers, all round.

We’ve obviously got a little conflict which keeps us wondering whether our couple will be able to make it through to their happily ever after. I mean, of course they will, but we still need things to be interesting. The conflict is mainly about whether Jaxon can move on from his past, and whether Macy can get the courage to go after what she wants. Nothing insurmountable but it worked nicely as a possible barrier and even better once those barriers were quashed.

I always enjoy a Carly Phillips novel and this one was up to her normally high standard. You will whizz through this book - the writing keeping you interested in the characters and their storylines. This book was exactly what I needed; Light, fun, sexy and something to get myself lost in for a couple of hours. Whether you’re reading through the Dare Nation series or not, you will not be disappointed with this book. I thoroughly enjoyed it. 5 stars.

This is the third book in the Dare Nation Series and my absolute favorite so far. If you love a great sports romance with the biggest playboy who falls hard then this is the book for you! Jaxson and Macy's story is about marriage of convenience.... for him it's to show his team he's settled, no more crazy antics and for her it's for custody reasons. What happens when the the show they're putting on isn't a show anymore, feelings are emerging? This book had me laughing, smiling and devouring these pages I finished reading within a day. If you haven't started this series yet you definitely need to now!

Man, it's been a while since I read a marriage of convenience romance. This is just the right fix. It was a great, sexy read for me. The Prescotts' story just keeps on getting better! Macy and Jaxon are amazing characters, they have amazing and hot chemistry. I loved them together, I couldn't get enough! And I like the pace of the story with little drama.

Overall, it was amazing. Highly recommended

This was my first book in the Dare Nation series, and as I've said before, I really appreciate when you don't need to read the other books to have an understanding of the environment and friendships in whichever one you pick up. Dare to Play was fun, it was quick, and it was absolutely steamy. I also very much love a marriage of convenience story, and that's just what this was.

Macy was a female lead that anyone can identify with, and all she wanted to do was raise her sister, and provide her a good home and keep her safe. When her sister's birth mother comes sniffing around for custody, Macy needs to figure out quickly how to prove she's a solid home for her sister and prove that she deserves to keep her. Enter Jaxon, the one night stand who needs to turn his professional image around (being a pro baseball player) and the reason that Macy's stepmother may find it easier than she thought to take her sister away. (Oh, did I also mention it's a sports romance? Cause it kind of is. Cue the paparazzi photos!).

Jaxon and Macy turn their one night stand into a marriage to help them both, with no set expiration date, but it looms in the background. What they don't expect is how easy it is in their new normal. Macy finally doesn't have to do things alone when it comes to raising her sister, and Jaxon was grounded, supportive, and learned there's more to life than hitting it and quitting it. They were great characters, easy to like, and definitely people I would want to be friends with.

Like I said, this story was quick, I read it in just a few hours, and the steam level was pretty high. It was a solid story for its length, and I definitely plan to read the rest of the books in the Dare Nation series. I liked Phillips' writing style, and can definitely see myself falling in love with a few more of her heroes.

Many thanks to the author for my review copy!

Hopefully you have been reading the Dare To books and remember the Dare/Prescott family. Jessie Prescott was the awful father that pushed his sons into football and put down the two sons that didn’t every chance he got. I feel this has affected Jaxon tremendously since he loved baseball and became a pro pitcher. I think it is horrible that women wanted Jaxon for his money and therefore he had a bad taste in his mouth from an ex fiancé. Now he is a wild child that the management is upset with. Macy who is Jaxon’s sister Bri’s best friend is a caring daughter that promised her father she would take care of her half sister if anything happened to him. Macy is raising her teenage half sister Hannah now and the mother appears back in their lives after over five years with no communication. This causes all kinds of trouble. Needless to say, she is not mother material. Jaxon and Macy decide to get married to help each other. I loved watching the two together. I was surprised how good he was with Hannah.
I loved watching the two grow closer. But anything can happen with so much outside influence! I loved the book and strongly encourage you to read it. I was given a copy of the book and voluntarily wrote a review.

~~I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads ~~

This is the third book in the series, and I would recommend that you read them in order, but this could be read as a standalone too. If you have read the stories of the Dare and the Prescott families, then you will really enjoy reconnecting with them and watching the next one fall in love!

Jaxon is still plagued by the abuse he received from his father - a major league baseball player, but not the footballer his father wanted him to be. Even now, as a successful adult his dead father's words still mess with him. His reaction is to be quick to join in a fight, and to be seen with a constant succession of women. His team need him to clean up his act, or he may need to leave Florida or his sport.

Macy is best friends with Jaxon's sister, Bri, and so she spends time with the family at parties, weddings etc. A chance conversation with Jaxon, when she is worried about retaining guardianship of her half sister, results in them agreeing to get married to further both their needs. The fun twist in this story is that they have great chemistry and are prepared to acknowledge that fact - even if they have never dated and have no desire to do so! So they choose to marry and be faithful and active in their marriage until such time as they agree to end it ...

I really enjoyed this openness between them, and how they fell into being together so well. Neither has had an easy upbringing, and are struggling with events that they are in now - but as a couple they are wonderfully in tune, and yet in a way totally oblivious to how special that is. Such a fun concept and really enjoyable to read.

Another excellent book in the series - and the return of doctors without borders brother, Braden is going to give the next book another unique and interesting take. I am already looking forward to it!

Dare to Play is another winner from the Dare Nation series. Just when I think the previous book will be my all-time favorite, Ms. Phillips gives me a new story to love. I love the marriage of convenience troupe, and Dare to Play was done perfectly!

Jaxon Prescott is a player for sure, but his reputation for being a bad boy isn't completely true. He doesn't always think before he acts, so he tends to get himself into trouble and both Austin and Bri are at the end of their ropes with trying to keep him out of trouble. Bri's best friend Macy Walker has been around the Prescott family a great deal, and after she is caught doing the walk of shame after her hot night with Jaxon, she needs his help to keep custody of her half-sister. Jaxon and Macy getting married will help out both their reputations, showing Jaxon as a steady family man, and giving Macy the stable home life she needs to help keep custody of her sister.

Jaxon and Macy had the most amazing chemistry! Yes, they started out only planning on a one-night stand, but OMG I loved them from the very first. First of all, even if Jaxon needs a steady relationship to clean up his image for the owners of his baseball team, that doesn't mean he needs to do so by jumping into a ready-made family with Macy and her 15-year-old sister Hannah. Hannah is a pretty typical teenage girl with all the emotional ups and downs, but turned up a notch thanks to her mother returning after 5 years of almost no contact. I loved how Jaxon jumped right in to help Macy out. Over and over again he went out of his way to help, and he showed he was so much more than just a player. I felt like while they started out with only a physical attraction, they quickly became friends and gave me all the feels as they fell in love with one another.

Dare to Play pulled me in from the very first page, and I loved every moment of this story. Carly Phillips once again tugged on all my emotions, and knocked it out of the ballpark with Jaxon and Macy's story. I'm already counting down the days until we get the next Dare Nation story, which will feature Braden Prescott, the doctor of the family.

5 star review Dare To Play (Dare Nation #3) by Carly Phillips

Dare to Play ticked all the boxes for me, from Alpha males, to feisty heroines, to family love and support and I was captivated from the first to the last page.

This is pitcher Jaxon Prescott and Macy Walker’s story and it was a highly entertaining read. Jaxon is on the brink of losing it all, his career is at risk thanks to his off field behaviour. He needs to fix his reputation and he needs to do it quickly. When it is suggested that Jaxon needs a wife to help clean up his image and his reputation, his sister’s best friend seems like a likely candidate. Macy needs to prove to the courts that she is suitable to take on the custody of her step sister. Helping Jaxon will give her the stability she needs to ensure she gets custody.

What happens when lines are crossed? The chemistry and attraction between them sizzles even as they try to resist. I loved the build up of their relationship, it was humorous, sweet, romantic and steamy. What happens when emotions become involved? Will they walk away or will this marriage of convenience turn in to true love?

Jaxon is a pitcher for a professional baseball team who is garnering more attention in the tabloids then he is on the field which puts his career in jeopardy. His family has told him the way to appease team management is to be in a stable relationship however this is the last thing he wants to do because of the insecurities from his past.

After the death of her father Macy has been raising Hannah, her half-sister, since her mother had left years earlier. Although raising a teenager has its challenges, she wouldn’t change a thing and is concerned when Hannah’s estranged mother returns and wants custody.

Jaxon needs to resolve a PR nightmare while Macy need to ensure that she retains custody of Hannah. A marriage of convenience seems like the answer to both their problems, what could possibly go wrong?

The chemistry between Jaxon and Macy was off the charts in the beginning but it is the way they support each other with each obstacle they must face that makes them so perfect for each other. As always it was great to catch up with the other character’s we know and love.

5 When Love Happens Unexpectedly Stars

I LOVE Jaxon and Macy… there’s so much to him that we haven’t seen in the previous two books. I love how Macy makes him believe in love again and her getting him to see he and last real girlfriend were kids when their relationship didn't work.

Their chemistry is undeniable and I adore how Jax became backup for Macy and supported her with Hannah and calming her down when Lilah was interfering! There's so many revelations in this book and seeing how everyone changes and views relationships and love.

Ms. Phillips has once again written a book that kept me engaged as a reader. I felt the explosive chemistry between Jax and Macy. The overwhelming love Macy has for Hannah and how she'd do anything necessary for this girl. My heart was beating triple time when Jax realizes that he too can have love and that it can be everything he's always dreamed about and to trust his heart...especially when it comes to Macy.

Marriage of convenience stories have the potential to be a lot of fun, and this one definitely was.

Jaxon needs a better image to keep the fans, his managers, and the owner of the baseball team he pitches for happy and Macy needs to retain custody of her little sister, so for both of them, stability is the thing missing in their lives.

They already know they have chemistry, and the marriage of convenience will also provide certain other perks...but what they don't know is that both of them will wind up not wanting the relationship to end, even when it gets to the point where it logically could.

This is the 3rd book in the series but definitely can be read as a standalone as while there are recurring characters from the first books, it's not necessary to know their stories to enjoy this one.

I enjoyed and recommend this title.

I love this series and the Prescott siblings. Jaxon is a professional baseball player that has had his fair share of bad press. He is trying to be better, but there is always something that drags him under. Macy is trying her best to keep her teenage sister out of trouble. When things go south for both of them, they come up with a plan that is beneficial to them both. They need to get married. Sounds like a good plan, but they begin to have real feelings for each other. I really enjoyed reading about these two and seeing how their relationship grew. This was a fun story that was a real treat to read. I love everything Carly Phillips writes, and this book was no different. Can’t wait to read about the remaining siblings!

Dare to Play by Carly Phillips is book Three in the Dare Nation Series. This is the story of Jaxon Prescot and Macy Walker. This was a standalone book for me. Macy needs to get full custody of her step-sister but the mother comes back wanting to take her. Macy believes that if she was married she would present a more stable environment to achieve custody better. Jaxon is a baseball player who sleeps around a lot and this time with the wrong women. Now, his career is in jeopardy of being taken away if he doesn't clean up his image. Jaxson and Macy come together to do a marriage of convince to help with each other problems. But, as we know when the feelings start to become engaged it isn't so convent. Loved their story and would recommend it.

Dare to Play is the third book in the Dare Nation series by Carly Phillips. This was my first book by this author and I really liked it. This story is about Macy, who takes care of her younger stepsister. When the mother of the girl shows up she needs to provide stability. Jaxon is a baseball player and the brother of her best friend. She marries him to provide that stability and he marries her to safe his image.

Macy and Jaxon are so good together. I really liked their story.

I adored Macy! And Macy and Jaxon together were perfect. Macy is in a bind when her half sisters mom shows up all this time later wanting her daughter who Macy’s been the guardian of since her dad passed and she’s not going down without a fight. Enter Jaxon they both need help and find solace in each other and the benefits of a fake relationship but it’s never really fake is it, lol

Dare to Play (Dare Nation #3) by Carly Phillips
4 stars
M/F Romance
Triggers: Orphan
I was given this book for an honest review by Wicked Reads.

Macy is trying to keep her head above water. Now that she's the sole guardian to her half sister, Hannah, Macy is trying to make sure that she's setting the correct bounaries, limits and giving her sister all of the love she should have. And, even though it's hard to do with a sister who doesn't really want to listen, Macy knows that she's what's best for her sister.

When Jaxon is caught with yet another girl, his family, his agent and his team isn't happy with him. Jaxon has been shaped by a father who only valued football and essentially shunned and abused his other kids when they wouldn't fall in line. Knowing that he has to change his ways in order to save his career and his family from more trouble, Jaxon just has to settle down.

With Macy needing some help with Hannah's sneaky mom coming back in the picture and threatening to sue for custody, Jaxon needing to seem to settle down, these two hatch a plan to get married so that they are both helped.

Family drama, teenage drama, manipulation and love are all present in this twisted tale. You'll love how protective Jaxon becomes of both Macy and Hannah and you'll also love how Macy opens her heart even though she knows this might be a big mistake.

These books are fun, full of love and only have a little drama, which makes them quick reads. You'll love the relationship among all of the charaters.

Jaxon and Macy were very... unexpected.
Sweet, sexy, and surprising would be my words to describe them.

My thought process basically went:
The playboy and the good girl?
Ha! Yeah, right!
She’s going to get her heart broken.

Between the drama, steam and ‘oh, how sweet’ moments I realised I may have been wrong.
Not only in my prediction but also with my assumptions of Jaxon.

I enjoyed Jaxon and Marcy story about helping each other out and falling in love. The chemistry and filtering made them so cute as a couple. You could feel that they would be together always by the end of their story.
