Wilderness Daddy

Rate this book
Her family tried to set her up with a husband. What she got was a daddy.

Akari Takahashi is brilliant and beautiful. She's also in desperate need of a good, hard spanking.

Her father and mine have apparently made it their mission to arrange a marriage for us, but out here in the wild a city girl like her doesn't just need a husband. She needs a firm-handed daddy who will take her over his knee with her cute little panties down whenever she's been naughty.

A daddy like me.

Publisher's Note: Wilderness Daddy includes spankings and sexual scenes. If such material offends you, please don't buy this book.

Short Version: If you like mild DD within the context of a full-fledged story, featuring characters who exhibit growth and view their H/h relationship with some equity, then you will probably enjoy this. Ms. Kelley writes stories with erotica rather than erotica, well, without stories; her characters are likeable; her discipline isn't harsh; her male characters aren't Neanderthals; and her female characters gain (or regain) strength at the end (unlike most in this genre).

This particular book also added much-needed diversity to a very non-diverse genre with Akari. In addition, the plot was interesting and one I haven't seen before: Akari and Logan meet when their respective fathers attempt to merge their businesses through their children. The twist here is that Logan's specializes in Wilderness Adventures, and this serves as the vehicle for the MC's growing relationship as -- together and apart -- they have their own adventures in the wilderness (this is very detailed; Ms. Kelley has clearly been camping). For those who aren't fans of age play, it isn't evident (other than Akari's calling Landon "Daddy"); for those who are, you may be disappointed. Finally, the book contains one of Ms. Kelley's obligatory action scenes towards the end that many readers will enjoy.

Long Version: For me, however, I find that I've increasingly liked this author's books less and less. Certainly part of this is that she now writes in a sub-genre that I simply don't relate to: DD/lg. I really liked her first book (Taking in Dani), but she has not written a storyline with two mature adults who engage in a mutually-satisfying kink while dealing with relatively realistic problems since. This is too bad, since the DD/lg genre is overly represented while the dynamics in Taking in Dani are not. Personally, I feel that the vast number of shifter, bratva/mafia (and now bully), DD/lg books leaves a reader like me very little with which to engage. That being said, however, I would never let this affect my review since this is more "not my kink" than a critical reading of this particular book.

Where I am critical, though, is of the writing for three reasons. First, Ms. Kelley is an inordinately repetitious writer and could really do with a good Beta reader or editor. I feel that this has gotten worse with each book and, in this particular case, nearly made me stop reading. The story starts out with Akari and Landon basically having the same conversation five times: he asks if there's something wrong; she yells at him for "pawing" her; he walks away (two of these times, btw, is after he spanks her). And this is pretty much how their relationship goes for much of the book; the to- and fro-ing got very old very quickly. I suppose Ms. Kelley was going for an enemies-to-lovers vibe, but the bickering came across as too immature for me. I confess that I started skimming after a while.

Second, I've really lost all patience for the bratty female character type. They aren't believable; they aren't interesting; and they serve no other purpose than giving the man a reason to spank and to make him look good (in these books, the men are perfect, the women...not). I really wish authors would come up with more creative ways to create tension and punishment scenarios than this. In this particular case, reading about Akari was exhausting: her emotions changed on a dime and, though the author tried to give them motivation, I found her more childish than sympathetic.

Finally, in a relatively realistic book set in the 21st century, it simply isn't plausible that a man would hit a woman without her consent and not at least pay lip service to how wrong this is. I'm tired of engaging in the kind of mental gymnastics it takes to find admirable and honorable a man who would do such a thing since non-consent make this assault, not domestic discipline.

I know, however, that I'm alone in these complaints. So, as I said, you will enjoy this. For me, the pool of my go-to authors has now shrunk even further.

3 stars. I would have rated this more highly since I did appreciate Akari's new-found strength at the end, but the belt-whipping was vicious and here Landon came across more as a bully than a protective Daddy. He had no right to dismiss her point of view. Truthfully, neither character was as sympathetic as they have been in Ms. Kelley's previous books.

I assume there will be a sequel since two lines of action -- both involving other couples -- remain unresolved.

Landon and Akari are thrust together by their parents in a merger to join their family businesses. Unfortunately, they have an immediate dislike. She thinks he is a jerk and he knows she is spoiled and a brat. Obviously, that makes his daddy Dom sit up and take notice. Soon attraction rises and Kari follows him into the forest. Adventure and danger follow along with many spankings from daddy. Hand, belt.

WE BALANCE EACH OTHER

Once again, Ms. Kara Kelley has spun a page-turning tale with a great cast of characters, plenty of angst, frustration, insecurities, a touch of danger and suspense, and an intriguing romance. Throw in crazy parents, scheming plans, business mergers, and arranged marriage—and then add one rugged, dominant man and one feisty, independent woman! Now you have a battle of wills and wits, as well as letting nature take its course.

What appears to be a retreat for two businesses, Steed Wilderness Outpost and Takahashi Sporting Goods, is also talks about a merger. One company catering to people who play sports and the other for hikers, anglers, hunters, campers, and survivalists. Landon Steed isn’t happy with his father for even entertaining the thoughts of a merger and ignoring his plans for the company. But then Akira Takahashi is very upset with her father, knowing what Landon doesn’t, that this merger includes a marriage of convenience, and she is the chosen bride.

“I had a wonderful time with her, Landon. Treat her well now. The cheeky ones are always worth the effort.” –Carmen Steed

Landon believes in marriage with love, not as a business transaction. But for the sake of his family, he does try to get to know Akira better. A date out has her acting up, embarrassing him, and that is not going to be tolerated. She will learn quickly that this man spanks and she isn’t going to get away with her nasty attitude. While she is appalled that he spanks her, she also feels that he really cares—something she doesn’t get from her father. As these two see each other, their relationship will take on a new level—one of Daddy Dom and little girl.

“I think you’re beautiful, Akira. And intelligent, fierce, full of spunk and wit. And as much as you drive me crazy, your spark pulls me. You challenge and intrigue me.”

Landon has a plan that he hopes will help out Steed Wildness Outpost—and that includes him going into the wilderness, only with six items from their store, and carrying a camera to record his mountain man adventure. He will meet up with Grant to give him the SD card for him to upload on a website and hope to garner attention and new business—and it works.

When things with her father aren’t good, his lack of belief in her and her business degree, Akira will leave, and she needs to find Landon. She will gear up with equipment, a GPS and head out to try and find him in the wilderness.

“Landon is a man who will stand beside me, not in front of me. And that’s what I draw on now to bring me strength. I didn’t believe in love, Landon. Not until you. Not until you showed me I could belong to someone without losing myself.”

“Your family is supposed to love you unconditionally, not just when you do what they want, Akari.”

The story will take on life and death danger as Akira encounters danger on her way to find Landon. She will have to survive on her own until she does, and not paying attention to her surroundings brings her face to face with three unscrupulous men, out searching for Sasquatch, but worse than that, they have another woman held captive. How can she escape, they are large, have weapons, and she is trapped? Will her Mountain Man Daddy find her in time?

“Yes, I’m scared of needing you, but I’m scared of you not needing me more,” she whispers.”

“I need you, not for Steed and not for my parents—I need you for me—because you challenge me, infuriate me, make me doubt my sanity, but you also make me think and feel like I have never before. I love you. And I accept you for who you are just like you accept me for who I am—even my overprotective, blustery dominance.”

A great cast of character, plenty of on-the-edge-of-your-seat intense moments in the mountains, several surprises, and a beautiful love story all wrapped up in one. The chemistry between Landon and Akari sizzles with angst, and with passion. She embraces his dominance and accepts his discipline. Calling him, Daddy feels right, and he does care for her, wanting only the best for his little girl. While there is Daddy talk, this isn’t necessarily age-play. I like how both Akira and Landon stand up for themselves against family and become a team by choice, not force.

“Never underestimate a woman. You’re not only doing them a great disservice but yourself as well.”

“It took trust to get us where we are, both figuratively and literally. And although neither of us knew this was where we’d end up, I think we’re both happier because of it.”

Awesome Story & Narration🎧 A Wild & Hot🔥Adventure!
Wilderness Daddy
By: Kara Kelley
Narrated by: Tor Thom, Charley Ongel

This audiobook is awesome, it is my first book written by Kara Kelley and it will not be my last. She casted the perfect narrators, Tor Thom and Charley Ongel, to bring the characters and their story to life. The story is interesting and original, it grabbed my attention right from the start and held it captive straight to the end. I adored the two lead characters Landon and Akari, it was an angsty start for them and the way they were brought together was more of a business deal but things change fairly quickly. Landon’s Daddy Dom surfaces when deals with her brattiness and sees there is a submissive side to her. When Landon comes up with an idea to help put his family business back on the map and save it from financial ruin he goes off into the wilderness. Akari tries to find him and finds trouble instead, including wildlife, three hillbillies searching for Sasquatch, Sasquatch himself and finally Landon. I loved how everything plays out in this book, it is plotted out nicely and there is never a dull moment with plenty of drama, angst, action, some twists and turns, thrilling and suspenseful moments, heartfelt ones and some hot romance with some mild kink. Kara Kelley, thank you for this awesome story and the adventurous and emotional rollercoaster ride.

I listened to the Audible edition, Tor Thom and Charley Ongel are talented narrators and voice artists. They did an amazing job portraying the characters, humanizing them giving each their own voice and personalty. You could hear how much heart they put in to their work, their duet performance captures the chemistry between the characters, their passion, as well as their emotions which enhances the story even more. They are entertaining storytellers and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another awesome listen🎧

Wilderness Daddy
by Kara Kelley
Narrated by Tor Thom and Charley Ongel

Landon Steed and Akari Takahashi have found themselves in a predicament. Their parents are have arranged their marriage with the merger of their family companies. But you can’t take the wild city girl and expect her to marry the wilderness man, can you? These two are like oil and water. Both against the joining of the companies and the marriage, they spend some time together and make some realizations. The alpha dominant Landon is feeling it for the submissive Akari, but is it love? Add in time in the wilderness with hunters and a possible Bigfoot, and Kara Kelly has woven a story that kept me listening to see the outcome. Landon is my favorite kind of hero. He can read Akari and know exactly what she needs. Akari is smart, and what I love about her how she finds herself. Kelly zooms into the wilderness with visual imagery and lets us experience their excursions. Kelly has a winner with the love and lust filled book.

Narration by Tor Thom and Charley Ongel enhances this daddy book! Thom has the perfect voice for Landon. His deep, smooth voice is the protective Landon, easing Akari into love. Ongel give Akari that edgy attitude. She is sleek and smooth finding her way to happiness.

Bipolar psycho girl ruins a good Daddy book

Trope: Contemporary Ddlg Romance
Spice level: Medium
Romance: Low
Plot: Low
World building: Low
Special notes: Bipolar Mc, Business merger, arranged marriage
Triggers:

This book has soo much potential. I loved the plot (even if it was quite simple) and I absolutely loved Landon.

However, I had to DNF it. Akari is a nightmare. I got whiplash from how much her personality switched on a dime. In the beginning the author drops a little bit of an excuse , but it continues further into the book making her sound insane.

With 'I hate you, you're like my dad' to immediately 'I want you to be happy. Let's f*ck' instalove'.

I think the author meant to make her look childish, maybe? I am not sure. It was a bit too crazy for me and thus killed any romance as I hated her.

This DdLg elements in this book are very light, for those that might be on the fence due to that.

Landon and Akari's marriage would forge the two companies together, just what their families want. But these two have ideas of their own. I loved how these two, completely opposite characters, come together to fight against their family demands. Landon is the type of hero that every girl wants. Every girl, except Akari! These two definitely prove that opposites eventually attract. Akari is a rebellious, strong, independent woman, who knows what she wants. Landon knows exactly what she needs and when she needs it. I had to keep reading to find out more. each chapter drew me into their story more and more and would not let go until the end.

Tor Thom and Charley Ongel bring out the fire between Landon and Akari. Through their natural chemistry, Tor and Charley create parks between Landon and Akari that can be felt throughout the story. Tor has the perfect voice for a wilderness man, deep and strong. Charley has an ability to bring out the independence and rebellion from Akari to bring her to life. TOr and Charley always deliver an ear pleasing narration.

Fair warning for those with triggers - this has a delectable amount of spankings and Daddy play.
I am in love with Kara’s way of writing, her character and story development are phenomenal. This story was fantastic - it had so much suspense, steam, and I really enjoyed seeing how Landon and Akari (both extremely strong characters) fell in love. Akari is one of my favorite female characters I have read in some time, she is so strong and stubborn- yet funny and vulnerable. Landon is her favorite match, being the strong alpha male that loves and cares unconditionally. Together - they are just amazing.
I can’t wait to see what Kara brings to my kindle next!

Outdoors Adventures

What happens when 2 companies try to merge and decide that their children should also? Antics, lots, some good some not so good.
Landon and Akari are so opposite of each other, yet, they are pulled towards each other. Landon strong and dominant and Akari is small of stature but very strong willed and very smart.
As they try their best to keep the companies from merging, they have their own adventure and everything has a way of working out.
I liked this book because of its loving and adventurous nature.

A new book by Kara Kelley taking place in the wild mountains.

The Daddy element is very light in this book, so if you are not a fan or new to the genre this is the perfect book to read.

I really enjoyed the chemistry between Landon and Akari. She was very feisty and smart, but this book is also about making choices that make you happy and finding out what you want to do with your lives. And not live how others want you to.

An entertaining read.

This is a sweet story of acceptance and understanding. I was a little frustrated with the ends that were left undone, like Lucy and Anders. Overall a good story. Landon and Kari have a rough start and it takes distance to make them realize how much they cared for each other. A lovely read.

Wilderness Daddy by Ms Kelley was one hell of a wild ride. There were so many twists
and turns that it made my head spin.Take two scheming fathers who have a plan to
not only merge their companies but push their children into an arranged marriage .

Landon Steed was furious when a weekend retreat between two families takes a very
unexpected turn.Landon and Akira Takahashi find themselves manipulated into marriage
by their respective fathers.Akira soon finds out that Landon is a spanking man who will
not put up with her bratty behavior.Landon has his own plans to save his family’s company
that does not include Akira. With minimal equipment,Landon sets off into the wilderness
filming his journey along the way.He hopes to inspire other campers to buy their own packs
and enjoy their own experience into the wilderness. What he did not expect was for Akira to
follow him.

The story takes many turns as Landon and Akira face unexpected and deadly situations. But
they also find love. Landon’s dominance makes Akita’s stomach quiver. His masculinity was
intoxicating. Her feminist heart battles with her sexual impulses. Landon respects Akira’s
intelligence but realizes she needs a daddy to guide her.

What a heartwarming and triumphant story this was.The story was juicy and intense and showed
the internal struggles and emotions of both characters.I loved how Akira found the strength to
stand up to her father with the support of Landon. An exciting read.

What an absolutely wonderful action & adventure story. Ostensibly this is a story about the joining of two families/businesses via an arranged marriage, but it is so much more than that. Landon is the son of the owner of one of the businesses who has poured his heart and soul into making it work, and is adamantly opposed to the merger. Akari is the daughter of the other businesses owner and she actually does most of the work that makes the company successful. She too is against not only the merger but the arranged marriage that Landon is not even aware of…. yet! Landon is also an alpha male with very strong tendencies to be a Dominant, Akari is (unbeknownst to herself) a submissive with BIG attitude issues. You just know how this is going to work out. An outstanding action plot featuring the wilderness, some badass back-country hunters and even a Sasquatch, will keep you on your toes throughout. Mixed in are a lot of punishment spankings, some sensuous spankings, and some very erotic (though not kinky) sex. In the end we learn that family is everything. A sure fire winner in every respect. 5 Stars

You cannot go wrong with a Kara book!!!!

Landon Steed finds out that his father wants to merge Steed Wilderness Outpost with their rival company, Takahashi Sporting Goods. This does not go over well with him, at all.

Akari Takahashi is more than upset with this merger, her father not letting her truly be a part of the business.

What starts out as a business move blossoms into so much more! Landon and Akari not only fuel each others fires but they complement each others strengths. There are some seriously steamy spankings and smexy scenes that will have you fanning yourself. Sit back and enjoy the twists and turns!!!

I knew when I started reading Wilderness Daddy by Kara Kelley it was going to be a fast reading well written tale that draws you in making it impossible to put down till you finished reading the whole thing it was so good. Between Akari's and Landon's family they were going to find a way to arrange a marriage and a merger in one fell swoop whether they wanted it or not, but then something strange happens and maybe the families might have done something so very right after all

This book is hot and steamy in true Kara Kelley fashion. Landon and Akari are both thrown into a situation that they don't want to be in. Determined to make the best of it, they get into some crazy stuff along the way. He's hot and dominant and she's just the girl to teach him how to use it. Full of love, lust and wilderness, this book is a winner. Keep the Daddy books coming, Kara!
