Enter the world of the most notorious gambling den in London, where matches are made... unusually. Welcome to the world of THE LYON'S DEN: The Black Widow of Whitehall Connected World, where the underground of Regency London thrives... and loves.

From USA Today Bestselling author JADE LEE, a lush tale from the greatest, most notorious gambling den in London. Welcome to the world of THE LYON'S DEN: The Black Widow of Whitehall Connected World!

Intrigue makes for strange bedfellows... Elliott, Lord Byrn, often found himself in strange places, but none is more bizarre than the infamous Lyon’s Den gaming house in a tony part of London. The gambling doesn’t surprise him, nor the salacious things rumored to happen in the upstairs rooms. What shocks him is a slip of a girl jeweler/fence who bargains with him over a missing brooch.

He needs her to refashion the thing before anyone else realizes it is missing and she drives a hard bargain. Harder than he can imagine... Amber Gohar lives her days in the gray world of a gambling hell, but she dreams of escaping into the vibrant world of the ton.

When the opportunity arises for her to spend just one night at a society ball, she grabs it with both hands, never expecting that she would also be taking hold of a man who set her heart on fire. But once she realizes what she’s done, she won’t let go. She can’t. Happily ever after doesn’t come easily, or for free, in the world of The Lyon's Den.

How these two unlikely bedfellows discover their best bargain will set both the ton, and The Lyon’s Den, on fire.

A lovely start to what promises to be a great series.

I’ve not read this author before so it was nice to experience someone new.

Great characters and an enjoyable plot and storyline.
Different to the norm , and great for that reason.

I felt it was a little slow in places and lacked content too, but this didn’t stop me from enjoying the book as a whole , so stick with it , the result is worth it.

Look forward to more in this series and will read more by this author.

I received an Arc copy of this book and chose to post this review

When daydreams come true.

Amber Gold, jeweler’s daughter, designs the best pieces sold by the shop below the gambling den. When not working with her father and grandfather, she dreams of dancing with a Prince. Commissioned by the Earl of Byrn to re-create a brooch, she enters the world of Society to obtain the design.
Ms. Lee fills this tale with fascinating people -- from the older sister forced to marry young to the decent young Baron-to-be to disabled soldiers hired as bodyguards.
I enjoyed following Amber as she leaves the world of trade and finds a place better than her dreams -- for her true love, not a Prince, holds her in his arms.

I really enjoyed this book. I loved that the female MC is from the merchant class and proud of it. She creates beautiful works of art as jewelry. And she wasn’t going to give that up or trade it for an aristocratic marriage. Worth a read.

One could always dream and Amber Gohar was a dreamer. She designed and created the most beautiful jewelry although her grandfather got the credit. A dream of living in a world where a woman could be know for her work and be proud of it!
In a fated meeting, Amber was summoned to Mrs Dove Lyons office and there she met Lord Byrn. He was desperate to find a piece of jewelry that was taken and sold, and he knew it had been at their shop. Unfortunately Amber had already dissembled the brooch and it was no longer the same. After some negotiations, Byrn was going to take her to see a picture of the brooch that she would recreate and she knew she could do it.
Then the adventure begins. Amber has often dreamed of balls and dancing, color everywhere and it ended up this was her chance! As she steps outside of her usual realm, what will happen?
I loved reading how these two came together because of their different classes. Byrn was charming and very interesting how he compiled information.
Such an enjoyable start to a new series and getting a feel about the Lyons Den, a gambling house with a strong hand who ran it and those around her, Mrs. Dove Lyons. I know we will find out more of her story as this series continues and cannot wait!

Into The Lyon’s Den by Jade Lee is the first book in a new series of books published by Dragonblade Publishing. The Lyon’s Den connected world is a group of books that will be releasing once a month in 2020 by different authors. Into The Lyon’s Den is the first book in the series. It is an intriguing story. I enjoyed the creativity in it. A politically-minded aristocrat meets a jewelry making artisan and falls in love. Though the premise was a bit far-fetched, isn’t that what romance is about? It isn’t always believable, but it can be engaging. I think Lee does a good job weaving a tale that captures the imagination. My only complaint was with the overly torrid sex scenes. I don’t mind sex scenes, but these felt exploitive. I did enjoy the heroine - Amber Gohar. I looking forward to reading the next book in this series.

Into the Lyon's Den by Jade Lee is the story of Amber Gohar (Gold) who works as a jeweler in time where women couldn't do such things so credit for her work went to her father and grandfather. Their shop was located below a notorious gambling den, which was fortunate since the den used her as one of the people who traded items of jewelry for cash and such. She kept her head down and covered so no one actually saw her, but she saw them and knew all their bad habits. There were also the "upstairs" girls who entertained gentlemen in other ways. Of course, there was also liquor involved. It was not much of a life except she got to design and build her jewelry. One day a man came looking for a piece that she could truthfully say she did not have. The reality was that it had been melted down the week before for gold and gems. He was desperate. He needed to get it as quid pro quo to another member of the House of Lords to vote "yes" on a proposal before that body to make lives better for the wounded veterans that had come home from the wars. Sympathetic to his cause, Amber agreed to rebuild the piece if she could see a picture. Lord Byrn agreed and proposed that they visit the home of the duchess to whom it belonged and view a portrait contain the brooch. It was at this point that things got complicated.

This was a well-done rags-to-riches plotline that matched a woman from the merchant class to an Earl. She was no even particularly beautiful, but she was very special. He tried to convince himself that it could never be, but as they worked together he began to see what his life would be like without her. This was an age where people married for connection and had affairs for love. He was too honorable to suggest this to her and truly even tried to help find her a noble husband and succeeded. She was a woman who would have fit in well in modern times. He was the consummate politician, except he appears to have been honest. It was an original story and a good one. One of the consistent themes in historical romance is a love between a noble gentleman and a common woman, so finding an original story is far from commonplace. The characters were excellent, both the leads and lesser characters were full of personality and backstory. It was fun to read. I recommend it.

I received a free ARC from Dragonblade in exchange for a fair and unbiased review. All opinions and interpretations contained herein are solely my own.

I have enjoyed the previous story line of The Lyon's Den series. This is such a departure from the series, because the owner of The Lyon's Den, is not a main player in this. She isn't setting anyone up to be married and I missed that, it's what made the stories unique, especially written by different author's.

The H started out being a likable character, but I lost all respect for him when he teaches the h about certain aspects of lovemaking. Then, in the next breath he asks her to be his mistress, because she isn't suitable to be the wife of a man who wants to make himself a career in Politics. I wanted the h to be so upset, have a back bone and leave his sorry butt. But, nooooo she doesn't do that, and in the end gives up a marriage prospect, to become his mistress. OMG, had a hard time to finish it, but I did.

There is a lot of descriptive lovemaking, heat level 5 out of 5. Since I lost respect for both the H/h it was just sex.

Little on suspense, no cheating, no cliffhanger, HEA (yes I did approve of the ending), but in the ending, the H comes to his senses so quickly I had whip lash, little on romance and a lot of steam.

You don't have to read the series, they are all stand alone. (ljb)

A compelling and fresh intro to The Lyon's Den

This is my first time with Jade Lee. I enjoyed making an acquaintance with the main character Amber, the characters of The Lyon's Den (although there is still much to learn about them) and Elliott and his family. I look forward to more stories from The Lion's Den.

Like good writing, there are fleeting thoughts that return at unexpected times. Amber designs a bird in flames after meeting Elliott. There is the satisfaction of some of the plot lines resolved and the tantalizing thoughts that other plot lines will be resolved in other stories.

The tone of this book is quite unique, unlike any other regency romance. I will read more by Jade Lee to understand it. I am grateful that the grittiness of a gambling hell and brothel was not the focus of the story. The characters are the focus, and in the characters are respect, truth and hope.

Elliott, Lord Byrn collects information on people to use for his political ambitions.  One of the men he needs to vote his way for something has lost an important piece of jewlery at the gambling den. If Elliott can get it back he can make the man vote for his bill.

Amber Gohar is the jewler's daughter and designs new pieces to be made from the ones sold by the people who need cash to gamble with.  She loves the designing but has always dreamt of a better life.

A dream come true is not always as good as you think.  Our heroine is a talented and honest young woman who is about to make a life changing choice.

Our hero is an ambitious man with a loving but complicated family.

There are several great characters in this story,  hopefully we will meet some of them again in other stories.

Great Fun.

Jeweler or a mistress

Amber is a German dreamer, who fantastic dreams of a Prince, castles and fairytales carry her through her grime realty in a cage! Elliott is a Earl who cares for laws to help veterans and wounded war heroes! I almost didn't like Elliott who was far more focused on his political aspirations while asking Amber to be his mistress!?? When a respectable man Mr. Jupp offers for Amber what will she choose? Love for a man who says he loves her but wants her in secret or Mr. Jupp who will claim her publicly but her jewelry designs and trade family must be kept secret?!!!

I liked this because it is different. It is not 2 people of the same class making a match, but they have to reach across those dividing lines.
I liked that she wasn't wearing rose colored glasses, or at least not for very long. I liked that he had to work through his issues, because they were very real back then. Yes, he was a bit of a toad for not thinking marriage could work at first, but he had been conditioned to think a certain way.
I like how strong she was, although she did get a little repetitious in comparing her worlds.

The jewelry has disappeared into the Lyon's Den and been melted down. Amber can replace it but she needs to get some idea of what it looks like again. In the process they are attracted to each other. This story has many twists and turns to it before the broach can reappear.

She works in trade making jewelry which no lady can reveal to the ton. Elliot, Lord Bryn, is working for votes in the House of Lords for a resolution to help war veterans. He needs her skill, she's found her prince. If only the solution was as easy for her as it is for him. Interesting plot for a love story.

The book was well written and the plot has potential but I was struggling to like the hero as he was being an idiot throughout 90% of the book.

Cinderella story with a comedy of errors with side of sexy time. Lord Bryn requires a broach in exchange for a vote for his political resolution to pass through parliament. The broach has been sold in the Lyon's Den to a jeweller. Mrs Dove-Lyon arranges for Amber the Jewellers daughter to assist Lord Bryn with recreating the broach since it has been dismantled for its gold and jewels. I enjoyed this couples story about life never going smoothly

This is an intriguing story of a fairytale that comes true. Eventually. It's full of interesting characters and interesting scenes. I didn't like Elliott very much, but that was life. Amber was a strong, bold and brilliant person who always dreamed of the things she knew she could never have. I did enjoy reading it and was satisfied with the ending.

Another Very Very Good Story!

I just loved this one so much. Overcoming obstacles is hard when it’s wealthy people. I wouldn’t know 😂😂 But I absolutely loved the characters and storyline so much. Amber and her family left hardships behind to make a safer life for them all. Lord Byrn helped that along. On to the next book. 🥰🥰💜💜💜💜💜🥰🥰

A perfect read

I should give 5 stars to more books, but I always find something to nitpick it apart. I didn't in this book.
Yes there was the bad guy but he didn't affect the main character so much as be a setup for the next book, there were no abductions, shooting or evil plots. Just a good story to daydream upon.

A great start to what promises to be a fascinating series!

Love skirts and unexpectedly blooms across society's divide as politics, machination, admiration, expectation and fantastical dreams collide.
Amber is an original - a strong, clever woman who shines with confidence where her innocence and need to escape the drudgery of her life, through fairytale daydreams, only makes her more relatable and believable. I admired her artistry as a designer and crafter of jewellery, a skill that draws Elliot into her world and explodes it with unforgettable need and colour.
Elliot's one track drive to have a long and fruitful political career sees him infusing Amber into the aristocracy as a means to help him win support for the resolution he is sponsoring in the House of Lords, to help wounded veterans. On the surface Amber is everything he wants: perceptive and openly honest and a magnet that draws and fuels his thrumming burning desire but can a commoner ever really be more than a mistress for a peer? It took a fumbling journey of tummy tumbling reservation, fun revelation, simmering jealousy, steamy awakening and tear enducing sweetness to find out!
Above all, Jade Lee has created two captivating characters that I found so strongly defined and well crafted that picturing them became so distinct in my mind. The chemistry was subtly radiant and hummed with a slow burning heat and tension. Where even the subcharacters had the power to surprise and be so much more than they seemed as they effortlessly drew me in, without overshadowing Amber or Elliot. Only adding intrigue, conflict and a greater degree of depth to the tale. Not to mention, a keen desire to read their own stories in her linked series too.
An enjoyable book that opens up a whole new world just brimming with multifaceted characters that make you eager to peel back their layers to understand all their conflicting feelings of joy, pain, hope, worthlessness and vulnerability.
