They thought they were safe. They were wrong.

Omegas no longer have rights. They’re considered property. Exploited for their heat and sold to the highest bidder.

For twin omegas, Seraphine and Arden, discovery means suffering at the hands of alphas. They assumed they were safe. They were unprepared for the horror that found them. Torn from their home, the twins are separated for the first time in their lives.

Can they survive the hell at their captors’ hands long enough to find one another?

Ivy Chapman has always been irresistibly drawn to the damned. Recently, she discovered a not so secret passion for the dark and depraved reads. Ivy has entirely too much fun delving deep into the twisted and corrupt. Though she does occasionally surface long enough to publish her next unhappily ever after.

edit: This is now in KU! I'm looking forward to giving this a try eventually. I'm picky about Omegaverse serials, but I've heard good things about this one.

2nd edit: I just noticed the price just increased to $3.99 today (3/7/2020) according to ereaderiq. If you don't have KU this is overpriced for a novella length book (114 pages long). I'd def recommend passing on this series if you're out of KU. The author hasn't revealed how many books will be in the series (of if she knows) so there's no way for readers to know what the total cost will be. Price increases/plus not knowing how many books will in a series is not a good combo.

I'm trying to be more articulate in my reviews when I criticize how a series is structured/the marketing. So I'd like to add that at this point in M/F Omegaverse if I see a serial series I need the series to be already complete OR If it isn't there needs to be an upcoming expected release date for the next book for me to try out the series.

I'm not entirely sure how I feel about this one. It seemed to be missing something but I can't quite put my finger on it. A pretty short read that felt like it ended abruptly, I know it's a series but even with that it seemed to end abruptly.

This book isn't something that I normally read - it's out of my comfort zone, but I did thoroughly enjoy this book. It threw my emotions a bit due to the circumstances of the story - was a quick & good read

This is Omegaverse, if you don’t know what it is, please take the time to look it up before you judge this book. It may not be everyone’s cup of tea but it’s DEFINITELY Mine.

Received ARC from Author for Honest Review

I Give this Book a 4/5 Star Rating

Dark: 4/5
Romance: 3/5
Drama: 4.5/5
Suspense: 3/5
HEA(?): Not Completely. It’s a TBC, so expect a Cliffy!
BUT technically with how it ended, you could treat it as a stand-alone and technically could be an HEA.

No Spoilers.
Really enjoyed this book!
This is Dark, so non-dark readers Beware!
Its fairly fast paced, but it’s paced well.
Looking forward to see what happens next!!

Would I recommend! To dark omegaverse readers!
This probably won’t be the best starter to the omegaverse genre, if your new to it LOL

OMG! OMG!

Oh my stars this story is an emotional roller coaster. It has a very dark theme about twins. There is a twist I have never seen in a book each twin ends up in different situations and places. Places they could have never imagine! If you are faint of heart please don't read this book. I can't wait for the continuation of Arden and Sera stories.

I had really high hopes for this book. It started off so interesting. Then just felt like it lost steam. There is supposedly a book 2, since it ends on a cliffhanger but doesn’t look like that book it out. Looks like it’s not out until April 2023. This honestly would be a 1 star read but the first 20-30% of the book was very interesting. This book needs more world building.

It reminded me a lot of the feral series by Nora ash, with the experiments and forced mating but did not succeed to creating a fully fleshed out story. There are no answers regarding what’s going on or why? How were they able to slip away so easily. Why would the director tell him where his sister was? Nothing makes sense. What was the debt the director owed? If omegas are so rare, why in the hell would they give a young omega female to a sadistic beta would just abuse and try to kill her!? Like that logic doesn’t make any sense. After all she’s been through why is she now in shock? I would’ve understood more the first time when she got there? Is it bc she was pair bonded then assaulted? I mean technically the initial alphas wasn’t consensual given it was during her heat. Why are her and her brother so accepting of their mates considering they loved their whole lives against alphas and mates. Idk it makes absolutely no sense. The brother really didn’t have a bad experience with being captured. Had his sister been there they bothe would’ve been content with their forced mates and never would’ve escaped. So once again the motivations don’t add up.

I hate when I see so much potential in a story and it just falls flat

Another reviewer criticized it for just being torture after torture and I should’ve taken head. It really is torture and more torture for sera and for Arden it’s sex then fall asleep, feel bad for not looking for his sister than sleep some more. He really had it easy while for her it was just whips and chains and crying every single scene. Was the beta that much of a sadist? Why did he look like a skeleton with yellowing teeth but everyone else is buff and good looking? Arrrgghhh I wanted to dnf at the 41% mark bc that’s when I realized nothing would be answered, but decided to keep reading smh.

Edited to add: just found out its a serial... so the length of the book makes sense but the price is crazy high. Most serial books should be between 1-3$ MAX.

Let me start off by saying that I loved the premise of this book and it could very well become a 5 star read for me. It was just chopped and felt rushed. Keep in mind this book retails kindle for over 5$ and only has 112 pages. I personally do not feel like that is worth what you get, but if the author made some changes and progressed the story, then I think 5$ would be an accurate price. I will describe some constructive criticism below but be warned**Spoilers ahead**

Here's what I loved:
- The book had split perspectives from both the main h and the h's twin brother. I thought this gave the story added depth and an interesting take as you don't often see that.
- The h goes through a super tough, traumatic time as an omega female, and the story had lots of angst because of that (loved)!!
- the males were alpha and protective, another love for me.

Heres what I did not like and what made me drop two stars:
- It was such a short book that I felt there was no real time for any major character development. We didn't get to see a lot of monumental moments between some of the characters.
> Suggestions: while I quite enjoyed having the brothers story and perspective in here, if you want to keep in under a certain page limit perhaps remove the brothers story line and make it a spin off instead. Then we can focus on the h and get more from her.
-The ending was SUPER cut short. Like i thought make I was missing pages or something. The h just experienced a super traumatic rape and her and her men escaped, and then she finds out shes pregnant and then bang end. No healing. Two lines of comfort from her men.

To summarize: I love the plot, the characters and the writing style. It just was too rushed and is priced incorrectly for the length of the story. I would love to re-read this book if it was added on to.

Torn Apart is a novel by D.E. Chapman about two twins being separated. Seraphine and Arden both deal with their own trials while the hope they will ever reunite seems more like a fantasy with every passing day.

This book luckily comes with some trigger warnings to help readers decide whether or not they want to read it. The big one for me was rape as that is one of the few things that trigger me. But I decided that even with that warning I would continue reading.

The sex scenes tend to be of dubious consent (dubcon). This book is an Omegaverse which is a complicated thing to explain as the sub-genre can go a million different ways depending on what the author wants to do. But, to keep it simple, there is a dynamic of Alpha/Beta/Omega. This book has Alphas and Omegas part of breeding while Betas sort of just exist. A/B/O is based on the stereotypical ideas of a wolf pack.

So back to the majority of the sex scenes...Seraphine and Arden are both Omegas and go into heat. So at first their bodies drive them to have sex but then they end up bonding with the Alphas that had sex with them. If you consider this rape, or are also triggered by dubcon, you will need to pass up on this book.

Seraphine and Arden are both given dark paths to walk down. With Seraphine having the darkest storyline out of the pair. How she changes throughout the book is heartbreaking but in a really good way. I truly felt for her and felt frightened every moment she was tortured.

I would recommend Torn Apart to those that don't mind their books getting more than a little dark.

Torn Apart – Ivy Chapman
This book is Dark Omegaverse & Reverse Harem. If you are unfamiliar with either genre, then please look them up before you read. These genres do not suit all readers.
This story is extremely dark. It’s my first time reading this author and I can say without reservation, that it will not be the last time.
We are eased into the story of Omega Twins, Seraphine and Arden and their slightly less than idyllic family setting tucked away in the woods. They live a secretive existence aided by their parents in a world where Omegas like them are nothing more than commodities to be sold or traded to the highest bidder.
Without giving away any spoilers, I will just say that we go from the relatively simple seclusion of family life in the woods to separation and unspeakable acts being committed to and for both Omegas who are separated for the first time ever in their lives.
This story ends with a TBC so expect a cliff hanger. If you are looking for a HEA then you should move along. This book is not for you. Try something in the light and fluffy romance genre. If you love some filthy grit mixed in to your (I hesitate to say) romance, then you will love the challenge this story represents.
This book carries trigger warnings for a good reason. Some scenes contained within are extremely disturbing. Beware.
I gave it 3 stars

Serious triggers

There are lots of warnings provided by the author and they aren't a joke. There is some very dark content here but I think its well done. As well done as that sort of thing can be anyway.

So, in general I enjoyed it, as twisted as it was. It definitely pushed my boundaries for the level of dark I could handel though.

The only reason I gave it 4 stars, instead of five, was because it was not very well fleshed out. The characters, even the twins, were pretty flat. The Alphas had no personality at all. I think that was due to the length of the book though. The book is very short, but with KU I dont mind that really. I just felt that it was missing a lot of what makes a story really dynamic. Even with out that it still evoked some strong emotions so maybe it was better that the characters weren't fully fleshed out. If they had been some of the content might have been too hard to read for me.

Super dark, lots of triggers, some serious steam, overall pretty good. 👍

This book had an interesting concept but was poorly executed.
There's no world building, and we are never told why things are the way they are or why they are happening.

I'm still not even sure if the characters were people or animals/creatures.
The Omega's, Beta's, and Alpha's were also never really explained.

It felt rushed, and it left me with a lot of unanswered questions.

What was the debt the director owed ?
Why didn't the Beta use Sera for his own gain since they are coveted?
Why was Arden not supposed to survive his mating to Fiona and Jarvus?
Was the twins mom a Beta or omega ? If their father was an alpha, how did he have Omega twins?

Like I said, a lot of unanswered questions.

There are some dark torture scenes and forced mating scenes, but overall, the book lacked the umph I was hoping for.

The book does end on a cliffhanger, but I doubt I'll read the second book. It just wasn't really my vibe, and I would have liked a bit of detail about the characters and the world they live in.

Just when I think I've read it all and felt it all and didn't think I can be surprised by anything new. I guess I am wrong. Or maybe, it's just been a long dry spell and I just haven't felt these feelings in a long while.

This book by Ms. Chapman got me feeling all over the places because you got two Omegas you are invested in having a HEA. But man...this author really puts them through the ringer, especially our girl, Seraphine. She definitely pulled the short straw instead of her twin brother, Arden. And this universe they are in, it doesn't sound like one I want to be in regardless of what dynamic I am in. It seems that if you have no power at all, you'll get the short end of the stick.

I'm looking forward to the next book. Hopefully, we'll get to explore more about this universe and see our Omegas blossom.

This is fucking dark. And trust me, I know from dark. And I definitely know from dark Omegaverse. Ivy Chapman has created an Omegaverse world that is dark, terrifying, and twisted.

Arden and Seraphine are twins. And they are both Omegas, which are very rare. In their country, they are barely considered people, because all Omegas are good for is breeding, and oh yeah, torturing. So they hide.

I like the title, because it describes the story in so many ways. It's an intense title for a very intense story. There were times when I didn't feel as if I could catch my breath because of what was happening, and how Sera and Arden were feeling.

I can't wait to see where Ivy Chapman takes us next, because I'm pretty sure it's going to be a serious ride, and not one that I want to avoid.

I really enjoyed this book. I found it very interesting. I liked the fact that the weaker twin Arden turned out to be the stronger of the two... although he didn't have it nearly as rough as his sister Sera had it. He stayed strong and never gave up hope of finding Sera. After everything that Sera went thru I'm not surprised that she ended up broken and withdrawn. She did fight hard before giving up all hope. So I do believe that she will eventually bounce back stronger then before. She just needs time to heal and recover. I would love to read a story about these characters later down the road to find out how their lives have turned out. I hope some day this author will write it so I can read it.

Yeah....idk what the hell this was. This is not dark romance or even romance. It's torture porn. The author literally has her female character suffer relentless torture the whole book but her twin brother has a much much easier ordeal?? I mean she had Sera go through so much to the point it seems like she hates her. That's very weird, very concerning and also a clear purposeful choice on her part. I never dissect books like this but the way the author treats our MFC differently than our MMC is full of red flags. It's highy disturbing. I wouldn't recommend this book to anybody. I got it for free on stuff your kindle day. Thank God for that because this is not worth buying at all. Don't waste your time unless you want to be disgusted the whole time.

Frustrating

This book was NOT bad. It was just kind of unfinished, not fleshed out enough. I didn’t feel like I knew anything about the world or the alphas.. So much was missing. How did the alphas end up in the testing facility or the bunker.. who are they? How will they live now? How are they eating? How many rooms is the cabin? What is the outside world like for alphas and omegas, will the have to hide forever... my list of questions could go on forever.... but, I gave it 3 stars because, this author has something, like she is almost there... I also don’t want to hurt her rating because I have questions, but couldn’t give it more because I need more.

This is an Omegaverse story.

This was written well enough but I never really got invested with the characters. I think it did pick up about halfway through the story and had me more interested in the plot

This had very dark elements in this but I never really felt much reading the ordeal both twins, especially Sera, went through. It seemed to go from one torture scene to the next and throw in a couple sex scenes here and there.

So far the Alphas didn't have much personalities. Maybe they will become more of their own characters later in the series but I don't think I'll be sticking around to find out.

This may be someone else's jam if they are really into Omegaverse.

Confusing mess.

The lack of time line is really frustrating. Arden’s mate ends up saying four or five months towards the end of the book, but before that, we have zero clue.

There is a lot o focus on Sera’s wounds from the torture she endured, buts it’s brief and suddenly not a problem when it comes to mating? How is that not addressed at all of her body is so badly torn up?

The contradiction is annoying too. Arden specifically says it’s been a week since their escape, yet the next sentence talks of the last month he’s been tending to the cabin.
Yet it’s still falling apart when Sera gets there.
None of it makes any sense.

Not worth the read.

Captured my attention but missing something

Spoiler Alert in second paragraph:

I’m not sure what was off but something was. Maybe it would have been better for me to have Arden’s story then Sera’s instead of having both stories together. It was hot and if you like Omegaverse you get MM, MMF and MFMM knotting.

Spoiler Alert:

The story was well paced with enough action to keep me engaged. I just thought that with months going by we could have learned more about each sibling. I’m not sure what finally broke Sera and I’m not sure how Arden got courage.

My first read from D.E. Chapman, but not my last. If you don't like or appreciate dark, ugly reads, pass this one up. Sera and Arden are twin sister and brother and both taken captive. Sera's story is brutal and your left hanging. Arden has a much better time, though pretty intense. This book is a short, fast paced, omegaverse novella, not warm and fuzzy at all.

Dark and grim, but with a thread of hope

When it says “dark omegaverse,” believe it. This was well written, graphic and violent, full of non-con, but with a hfn. I liked the way the story followed both the twins so we could see what was happening during their separation.

Not sure if there will be another book. This one was left in a place that could be the end, but I would hope for another volume. There is definitely more story to tell.

My first time reading this author and it won’t be my last! Wow, what a story. This is a very dark plot and there not one for the faint of heart. If you love raw dark short stories, then this is definitely your book. It’s perfect for easily reading in one sitting and left me wanting more – more about these characters and more from this author.

Ugh. That’s what I think. MMC is useless except for one scene, it’s mostly centered on the FMC.
Plenty of abuse and torture. Hint of character building. Absolutely no relationship building. None.

SPOILERRRRRRRR
The only upside in her entire story? She is finally saved after months of relentless torture. Also as a bonus- her forced-to-be-rapists bond with her and become mated to her. By chance. Yay her.

This is a short story totally skippable.

Potential

Omegaverse intrigues me. This story had more potential. The book seemed like more of an outline and could have been developed more. These type of books are normally dark, but this one was extremely heavy on the violence. This could be okay if the rest of the story and characters were more developed. I’m usually okay with reading trauma as long as there is a happy ending. Torn Apart had a weak and rushed happy ending that did not balance the trauma and violence.

Loved this book!!!

I absolutely loved this book, there is so much happening to the twins that it almost feels like it’s two books. The abuse that’s suffered by the omegas and their mates is unheard of, this isn’t your usual omegaverse book, this one is dark and cruel but has a HEA too, it’s not for everyone but it was for me and I hope you enjoy it as much As I did! A definite recommend

Not worth the time.

I feel like I've read more of a detailed outline for the beginning of two separate books. No depth to characters, passage of time was awkward and I was often left confused. That being said. It could have been good. It was dark and twisted, but without sinking into any of the characters, I just didn't care. No emotions at all between either group of partners. They didn't feel anything so neither did I.
