Not bad! Fast listen, audio is on audible plus. I guessed pretty early who the bad guy was, but it was still fun to follow along. Would be a perfect read when tucked warm indoors with a snow storm outside.

This new series begins with a bang as a killer winter storm rushes toward Montana and a murderer is intent on not being caught. Debra Webb spins an intriguing tale of a small town sheriff facing an storm of historic proportions at the same time that his old girlfriend returns to town to clean up and put her old homestead for sale. Abby’s father has died and her brother has just been released from prison after serving time for killing their mother. But the storm is not the only thing wreaking havoc in this town. I really enjoyed the atmosphere that Ms. Webb created, one of rushing wind and snow that obliterates the view, just as the story itself rushes to an unexpected and surprising conclusion while the reader’s view is obliterated by what seems to be true as opposed to what is really truth. I loved the fast pace, the quick chapters and the way that I was so rapidly drawn into the story, just wanting to keep reading all the way to the end. This is a fantastic beginning to a new series by well-known and beloved romantic suspense authors. Debra Webb is the perfect author to begin the series as shown in this novel that did not disappoint but instead made me want to keep reading this book and then move on to the next one in the series. Webb is an author to be reckoned with, writing with the knowledge of how to take a complicated plot and make it a web of deceit that entraps the reader to the very end. Fans of romantic suspense and thrillers will really enjoy this book and I expect this series to be hopping off the shelves onto Kindles as the word spreads about how absorbingly fantastic it is!

The mystery part was just fine.
The romance part was OK.
But the atmospheric feel never really happened. I never got cold, I never had a sense of a freezing day. Webb just didn’t embrace the physical world around these characters, well at all.

Abbey Gray returns to her home town to sell her childhood home after her father's death just as the worst snowstorm in eighty years hits Montana. But the storm is the least of her concerns when her neighbor turns up dead, the scene eerily similar to her mother's murder scene sixteen years ago...The culprit might also be the same, Abbey's own brother, recently released from prison.
While the premise is good, the narration was boring and wordy, the pacing plodding, the characters quite dull and uninterested, and the murder investigation winding. Subsequently, the reveal wasn't that surprising and I was just glad it was over.

A well written suspense with a pinch of romance - as in the H/h were childhood friends and something more is happening/hinted at throughout. A good murder with some twists and I'm excited to say I figured out 'who done it' early on, but not the reason why. Set during a snow storm in Montana and this is a stand alone, but the first of a series of books by different authors, with all stories set during this storm. I enjoyed it.

In true Debra fashion this book has everything!!!! Murder, Intrigue, lots of action, suspense, great characters, and just the right amount of romance.
I am looking forward to the next 5 books in this series.

This is the first book in a new series, each book written by a different author. This book is so well written it draws you in, and you just keep turning the page until you finish the book. A major snow storm is headed there way, and thats only the beginning of the storyline. I loved this book and will definitely be reading the other books in this series.

Abbey and Garrett grew up together in a small town in Montana. When they finished school, Abbey went off to New York to become a famous novelist. She had to leave home to forget the horror of her mother's murder and, her brother being imprisoned for the murder.
When Abbey comes back home after her father dies, in order to sell their home, she has no idea that a murderer is much closer than she thinks. Between Abbey and her deductive reasoning and, Garrett as the Deputy Sheriff, they need to beat the clock of the storm of the century coming toward them and, find the killer who may very well be the person who really murdered her mother.
The clock is ticking and, the bodies are piling up!
Can these two find the murderer in time?

Thank you Debra Webb for the ARC of Frozen Ground by Debra Webb that I read and reviewed by my own choice.
Frozen Ground is the first short story that makes up the Stormwatch series which consist of stand alone novellas by a number of today’s hottest romantic suspense authors. I really enjoyed Frozen Ground which is the story of Abbey and Garrett who were high school best friends who got caught up in a murder that took place near where she grew up that looked a lot like her mother’s murder, the one her brother was convicted for and has been released over the past year
This novella was excellent. The chemistry between Abbey and Garrett was awesome and you had no choice but to hope that she was right and her brother was innocent. I could not put this book down because I wanted to find out who killer was and what really happened to her mother.

To be honest, I was a bit disappointed with Frozen Ground. From the synopsis I expected something way more fast paced. Instead, I felt I ended up with a romantic suspense book with very little suspense and virtually no romance at all.
Given the limited number of characters involved, if you exclude the most obvious suspect because, well, it's just too obvious, you get to the real culprit in next to nothing. There's a small twist there at the end, but not overly exiting. Besides, there are a few plot details that seemed crucial to me at the beginning of the story but that then are either forgotten or overlooked - and that I honestly think could contribute to solve the murder(s) way sooner.
As to the romance, I also expected more. Abbey and Garrett have known (and been in love with) each other for years, but most of the romantic parts of the book are spent inside their heads - each of them wondering if they should pursue the other. They both have a severe case of thinking too much and doing too little.
This is book one in the Stormwatch Series. Since each book is by a different author I may give some of the others a try to see if the plots improve overtime.

This was another book that I couldn't put down of Debra's . Abbey was a strong women who was determined to pack up her parents house and get it on the market. She had a hard time because of the past with her brother being charged with the murder of there mother. Then her father passing away. Then she was having feeling for a friend who was now the sheriff and he was know having a storm Holly coming thru at full Force. He was having a murder of the next door neighbor to Abbey and trying to blame on her brother. This was devastating storm that hit his county. I recommend that you read Frozen Ground to see what happens.

Fails as a mystery...
And fails in every way to be a worthwhile read - unless you consider a flimsy, sophomoric romance a good way to waste your time. This could have been told in a few pages, but instead the writer repeats and repeats again the complex (????) feelings the two have for each other. What a joke! The writing is as simple and juvenile and even blushing as it gets. This is a silly, brain-dead story.

Abbey returns home to sell her childhood home in the midst of a snow storm , she learns there's been a murder that takes her back 15 years before when her own mother was murdered and her brother was to blame/sent to prison. Garrett ,Abbeys friend and could be love interest steps in to help her unravel the truth when its apparent someone is back to finish the Story.

Ha, I just love that familiar trope of two childhood friends reconnecting after years and all that sparks flying around. To top it off, in Frozen Ground, Debra Webb adds in a raging snowstorm with a killer on the loose, and the story packed with suspense just races to the finish line like a torpedo.
Abbey Gray is back to her hometown after her father’s death to sell the family home. She is a successful bestselling author and has no plans to remain in Montana, especially with the traumatic past of her mother’s murder and her brother being arrested for it. Well, as they say about best laid plans, her arrival coincides with her neighbor’s death in the precise manner of how her mother had been killed, and adding to the tension is the fact that her brother has been released from prison. Garret Gilmore, the sheriff has his hands full with the storm bearing down on them, a murder to investigate amidst this, and of course, Abbey the love of his life back in the town and facing danger.
Debra Webb creates that perfect atmosphere for heightening the danger around Abbey. With the high winds and the snow blinding everything, Abbey and Garret are forced to support and rely on each other to get to the bottom of the murder mystery. The “who” would probably be easy to guess for most seasoned readers but the why was twisty. The romance between the leads was more implied than in action but the chemistry was simply sizzling, esp with both of them unwilling to lose the friendship they share and thus refusing to give in to the attraction.
The audiobook was narrated by Kelsey Navarro and I must say that the narration was absolutely on point with how I had Abbey to sound in my imagination. Brilliantly done.

Loved the first two thirds of the book.
Solid mystery, building intensity with approaching and beginning of the storm. Great setting.

Innocent?
Abbey Gray has returned to her old home at the worst possible time. Not only is Montana facing the storm of the century but her neighbour has been murdered the same way as her Mother years ago. With her brother out of jail and missing, both she and her old friend Sheriff Garrett Gilmore have to face the possibility that Steven has come back home to take revenge. Garrett has loved Abbey forever and when she comes back to sell the family home he can't help hope that this time she will stay. His feelings will have to wait until he tracks the killer down. No matter how he feels about Abbey if that's her brother he will stop him whatever it takes. But what if Steven really is innocent! I recommend this really good murder mystery which has a twist at the end, includes some extreme violence and sexual tension but no explicit scenes.

I really enjoyed Frozen Ground, the first book in the “Stormwatch series which was written by different authors. I have read quite a few of Ms. Webb’s books and have always found them to be exciting, full of mystery, suspense and romance. In this book, author Abbey Gray returns home to settle her deceased father’s estate. Her brother was recently released from prison for the murder of their mother, but she and her father believed that he was innocent. Sheriff Garrett Gilmore has always been interested in Abbey, but has not seen her since she moved to New York. As a storm moves in, an elderly woman is found murdered in similar circumstances as her mother. A complex mystery that has both Abbey and Garrett questioning whether Abbey’s brother could be involved. I read this book through Kindle Unlimited and so enjoyed it that I voluntarily wrote this review. (by paytonpuppy)

Nice start to the series!
I enjoyed the first book in this “snowmaggeden”. I’m looking forward to the Colorado book as I live in Colorado Springs, where last year we had our own little snow apocalypse that even I had driven through.
Starts out easy enough, writer returns home after her last parent dies. Her brother may or may not have killed their mother some 15 years before. I won’t lie, I called the killer early on. Don’t let that stop you from reading as the characters grow before your eyes. Interesting read. Kept me intrigued which is what I look for in a book.
I’ve only read one author on this list, but was tempted to give the others a try. I’ll let you know in book 2.

Overall I really enjoyed Debra Webb's Froze Ground. The story had a nice pace, never bored, and didn't waste words. And while I was pretty sure the obvious suspect wasn't guilty, the truth of what had happened all the years before had a nice twist. The romantic elements were light. While I personally prefer a little more development of the romantic aspects in my reading choices, the relationship between the characters was nice, believable, and well written. So even though the booked leaned more on the suspense than the relationship between the characters, for all you romantic suspense readers out there, this one is a good one to add to your reading list.

Another great book by Debra Webb
This is the 3rd or 4th book of hers that I've read ... this month! She's fast becoming one of my favorites, and anything she writes is worth a look & probably a one-sitting read, as far as I'm concerned.
I love her characters, her settings and descriptions, and can practically see the scenes she writes. Each story is fresh, imaginative, and captivating. Every part rings true, with no unneeded tangents or dialogue.
I'm looking forward to the next book in this series & hope it's as good, as it's by a different author. I'm also looking forward to the next book of hers on my list.

Frozen Ground
Frozen Ground by Debra Webb is a great read. It will chill you to the bone and your hair will stand up in fear. Abbey comes home to deal with the estate of her parents and to finish her novel. Her best friend Garrett is the sheriff and they may be realizing their feelings are stronger than friends. Her brother Steven just got released from prison for the murder of their mom. The witness whose testimony put Steven in prison is murdered almost in the exact way. Has Steven come back for revenge and will he murder Abbey too? Garrett has to keep her safe for both their sakes. Great book Debra Webb.

This is a great mix of mystery, thriller and romance, Abbey and Garrett are fantastic characters who are easy to relate to as they try to grapple their way through not only the dangers of the case but also the hurdles of the chemistry that bubbles between them. This is part of a multi author series with all books focused around the storm of the century. I listened to this on Audible.

Frozen Ground is a real page turner. A murder and an impending winterstorm combine to threaten Abbey Gray who has returned to Montana to pack up the family home to prepare it for sale. Her neighbor has been murdered in the same way as her mother years earlier. Her brother Steve was convicted of the murder and was recently released from prison. Sheriff Garrett Gilmore fears that Steven committed this latest murder and will be coming after his sister. Abbey cannot believe that this murder or that he murdered their mother years earlier.
