The Gifts Awaken #6

Throw the Fastball

Rate this book
Psychic powers attract danger.

After the paranormal excitement the last few weeks, April is looking forward to more 'Beach hair I don't care' time. She hopes the relaxation will put her 'Gift' into hibernation before she starts her new position at Master, Lloyd, and Johnson law firm.

Free tickets to a local minor league baseball game dash any hope of reprieve from the paranormal.

The Pensacola Pufferfishs' promising season is in shambles. Their ace pitcher is throwing homerun balls, and half the team is on injured reserve with the most peculiar injuries. Awful timing considering the owner is in negotiations to sell the team. A coincidence, or is something evil at work?

To complicate matters, Tricia falls hard for Pensacola's tall, muscular, boyishly handsome pitcher. She claims his much younger age bothers her, but it doesn't put the dampers on her body language toward the big, sweet country boy. She's often conflicted like that.

When April sees a Voodoo doll in the back of a player's car, her hyperactive curiosity kicks into overdrive. Who knew searching for the truth can anger bad people to the point of homicide.

I learned early it's not acceptable for me to talk about the weird things I see at night or the whispering voices in my room. They told me there's no such thing as ghosts. Dead folks don't hang out in little boy's bedrooms, and I have an overly active imagination.

They were right about the imagination.

Later, I discovered that while talking about "such nonsense" is taboo, writing stories about paranormal events is acceptable. I've been hooked ever since.

You may find the female characters in my books to be ridiculously smart, tough, resourceful, and occasionally a hot mess. This is not only because I find this style of protagonist intriguing. Writers write what they know. Where I come from, most women fit into this category.

April May Snow, the protagonist in the prequel series The Gifts Awaken and the full-length novel series Foolish, is a young woman who personifies a strong woman. She just doesn't know it yet.

The April May Snow books are a paranormal women's fiction series. They are not a midlife series. Considering the multitude of dangerous situations April finds herself in, they might be past her midlife. Let's hope not. I've come to love her and hope you will, too.

To round out my Bio, I was born in San Diego and raised in Birmingham. I like to think I keep a California surfer's attitude toward life most days while conversing in a heavy Southern drawl.

I now live a few miles outside of Nashville. Since I can't play the guitar, which is a genuine impediment to being a successful country music singer, I continue to write books, which I enjoy immensely. I hope you'll receive as much joy from reading one of my books as I get from bringing it to life.

Never had brothers or a athletic sister, so I missed the training to play sports well. What I did learn was to run. Running became my respite. Getting into my own quite space.
I was competitive with one girlfriend. She would master a skill then I had to do it better.
Baseball was rarely played because there were not enough players on our block. Once in a great while we could go to another neighborhood and we would play there.
There was no voodoo or witchcraft. We never heard of such.
We did go to Pensacola for a week. It was not nearly as exciting as these books!.

Nancy Drew with a twist

I have enjoyed getting to know April and seeing what trouble she can get herself into and out if. A good quick read. Looking forward to reading the following series.

Great book!

So much fun that I'm off to the next one! I'm getting anxious for April to accept her gifts and really roll with it! At least thaw out the amulet and wear it for pity sakes!

Great Read

I'm getting used to April Snow and her take on her paranormal gifts. Each of these books can be read alone although I find it a bit of an adventure to read all in the series seeing as to how its a continuance of Ms. Snows life. Fun read!

In this instalment of the April May Snow books, April almost proves the old adage that curiosity kills the cat when she tangles with some people who are deep into dark magic.
