Write Them In: Taking Your Readers on a Hero's Journey

Rate this book
Readers want to be part of an adventure, to travel on a journey of mind and emotion. They long to raise a gleaming sword with Samwise Gamgee against Shelob the spider, to ride with Lucy on Aslan’s back and feel his silky mane, or to wield a lightsaber in fierce combat on a planet in a galaxy far, far away. Writers hope to fulfill that literary longing, to immerse readers in a story they won’t want to leave. Once they finally resurface in their real worlds, they’ll be eager to return to ours, whether through the same story or others we have written. And they will be sure to tell friends about their journeys and invite new readers to enter our fascinating worlds. This book will show you how 1. Follow the hero’s journey story structure. 2. Create captivating characters. 3. Draw readers into a scene and keep them there

This is such an AMAZING book for anyone who is interested in writing a novel or even experienced writers who want to keep growing. It’s easy to understand everything the author is saying. I also love that he used other books to exemplify what he was talking about! Everything in that book was pure golden info and advice! I would rate it higher if I could!!!!! Would 10/10 recommend for anyone who is a writer!!!!!

This book is very informative about how to write a ‘hero’s journey’ story. Though I admit, I read only half the book, (I didn’t see the need to read his last, more in depth section), I would recommend this to aspiring authors that want to write action packed stories.

This is a brilliant book on writing stories with the Heroes Journey plot. It is one that really helps you develop the deeper moments and themes in a story. It’s a book that I’ve gone back to again as I seek to write my own stories, and develop characters and events. Highly recommend to anyone wanting to write a story worth telling.

A small note: this book teaches how to write a story with the Heroes Journey plot. There are other formats and styles of stories, and this is not the only one.
