Death. For everyone, even immortals, there is nothing after death. No takebacks, no comebacks. It's a full stop. The end of a story. The end of everything. For Sophie, it's little more than a comma. A prelude. A footnote in her true destiny. She was fated to die. Many times. To know what lay beneath in the underworld. To bring the darkness back with her. It has been patient, that power that brought her back. But now, it's ready. She is ready, for her true beginning. For the end of everyone standing in her way. Starting with a wolf she once loved. A vampire she once treasured. Destiny will wait for her no longer.

It's no secret that this author is my Words Queen & it's books like this that are the reason why. She can switch from MC to dark to PNR to MM. Her range of writing is limitless & I'm here for every single ride.

I have loved Sophie since book one in this series & was so happy to get her full story. It's messy. It's violent. It's heartbreaking. It's hot AF - but then again so is Sophie so I shouldn't have expected anything less. End of the world or not she's got shit to do & nobody is going to stop her! Special mention to my werewolf hottie Conall - he's cemented himself as a forever favourite hero for me.

I loved everything about it! Ticked all my paranormal story loving boxes. Witches & Vamps & Werewolves Oh My!!!

Definitely recommend.

How can I absolutely detest the characters and yet love them at the same time?! Isla and Sophie are over-the-top ridiculous. They take the idea of 'independent women' to another level and I got sick real quick of how repetitive they were with it about 3 books ago. And yet... I can't get enough of these women!

I would still have loved to have heard from Thorne. This man... he puts up with so much... he's amazing and deserves more time to shine.

And then there's Connall. This male... this poor broken male... this male who wouldn't lose hope or faith or love for the woman who kept trying to kill him... this male who believed that he could fight and win against destiny... he was incredible and I love him so freaking much!

Even Conall wasn’t strong enough to save her from herself. From the things that weren’t her at all.

So Sophie came back from the dead. After digging her way out of her coffin, she came back not quite Sophie. She brought back company and the darkness that filled her was determined to destroy and kill everyone and everything. Why? Only Sophie really knows.

She killed Scott. You know, the guy who didn't hurt anyone, the guy who risked it all to care for them, that guy. She killed him. And his death, his undeserved and pointless death... not even a footnote. No justice. And I'm sorry, but nothing Sophie did redeemed her. Hello?! She was willing and wanting to kill Nyx, daughter of Isla and Thorne. How does anyone forgive that?

Okay, so Isla was still a heartless cow. Having a child didn't really change her, although she obviously had a deep and abiding love for her husband and daughter. But to expect her to make a complete 180 isn't realistic and I appreciated that the author didn't do that.

All my caring was taken up with my husband and child. I was pretty tapped out. Emotions, for me, were finite. I was done having to get upset when someone I cared about died, so I was rationing my feelings.

Connall was a male who didn't know how to give up, determined to save his mate, even if it cost him his life. And don't forget, before Sophie died, they were fighting over his omission about being the rightful king of werewolves.

“I had no plans of taking the crown back,” he continued. “Even after I met you and recognized you as my mate. I didn’t feel worthy of the crown. Of you. And that’s why I didn’t tell you. I was ashamed of what a coward I had been. I know that witches do not mate as we do. Your loyalty, your love, it is not infinite. It is conditional. And I did not want to lose it, so I lied. Because I would rather live a lie with you than ever have to face the truth without you.”

Then there's Sophie, who was cowardly and brave and couldn't decide or figure out who she was or could be. She was afraid of what was in her, but willing to embrace it if it saved her from having to choose or decide or make a stand. I hated her weakness that she covered up with sass. Why couldn't these women just be real?

“You’re wrong,” she whispered. “Witches may not have the same weird blood as werewolves, I may not grow fur and howl at the moon, but I do have a mate. My loyalty to you is infinite and it will not change, even if everything else does.” She said this as a promise, as an oath, even as she was haunted with a future that would prove her wrong.

So yeah, as strongly as I felt, as amazing as this story shaped up to be, I give this all the stars. Anything that has me loving and hating and screaming and laughing has to be worth it!

Ok this one is intense. If you read the last book you know this book couldn’t be anything but (side note if you didn’t read the last book and series stop and read the series so you understand and can follow, it's not a book I would suggest starting from book 4) amazing and crazy in the best way but I am telling you, you have no idea. This book blew my mind. From beginning to end there is something great intense and huge happening at what feels like every page of this book. And that’s not an exaggeration.

At the last book in this series huge things happen for Sophie so you know the start of this book is going to come in like a lion. We learn so much and so many questions are answered in this book. But because so much of this book would be a spoiler if I wrote a normal review I’m not because I really don’t want to spoil anything. Believe me not knowing is better so you can experience this book and being blown away like I was. I will tell you we have some great character’s return and no one is safe. Questions are finally answered and new questions are given in this story line. We get to see so much in this book between Sophie and her wolf and Sophie and her best vamp friend.

I cannot wait till the next book. Not only is this a great book but also Anne Malcom does a phenomenal job growing her world and her characters. These people are so far from two-dimensional and they never seem to take the easy way out. But they all one of a kind in the very best way. The relationships in this book are special for a book. And yes I said relationships because it's not just the Sophie and Conall, it's previous characters that Anne takes time to develop even more and its Sophie and Isla. This series is so amazing and you just have no clue what will happen or how it will all end, but I can't wait to find out.

AMAZING!!

Thank you Anne Malcom for this Beta copy.

I will say it again, I really wish this series was turned into something that I could binge-watch on Netflix because it is so good. The world-building, the characters, the connections, the friendships, the snark (Good Lord Isla hasn't lost her quick wit), and the plots and twists in this series are the stuff that I live for. Even though I rarely read PNR because it really isn't my favorite, I will ALWAYS make an exception for this author because she is that good. It took me a little bit to get back into the story as it has been a while since I read the previous books. Even though I remembered parts of it, it would have been good to have a re-read of this before reading this in order to be familiar again. That being said, it didn't take that long in order to have it all come flying back.

I , also struggled toward the end as the book was gearing up for the pinnacle of the story. It took me reading that part a couple of times to fully get what was going on and the message behind it. Even, then I am a little confused as it ended pretty open to what the future holds, not just for these two characters but also for the series as a whole. While this was not my favorite of the series, it still was good. I look forward to the next book this author writes. It can be PNR or MC and I won't care because this author is truly one of the best out there.

Anne Malcom’s Buried Destiny, found in the Such Violent Delights anthology, is a piece of Anne Malcom’s psyche that begins in her Vein Chronicles series with Book 1, Fatal Harmony. And you must definitely read this series! (and honestly, all of her other books, too!) Once you read this, you will understand!

I can’t possibly explain how an author can create the fantastic worlds that she does in each of her series. Through the depth of her characters, we FEEL Sophie, Isla, and Conall. We embrace the supernatural as if we live it daily-its death and its destiny. Actions speak louder than words, except in the case of Anne Malcom, whose words create the biggest actions of all!

Buckle up! Although this book is in the same vein (HA! see what I did there.) as the rest of the series, it is collectively darker. The characters are magnificently written, and there are some surprises I didn't see coming that made me want to throw my iPad.

You are in for a delectable treat with this book.

I have always been a fan of this author. Like since back in 2014. I know she can write epically styled fearless heroines and alpha hot guys like nobody's business. But I have to admit this is my first read of this series. That's totally a me problem though because I got lost under a huge Tbr pile, BUT I have seen the light and am definitely going to back my arse up and get onto reading 1,2&3.

That being said.. Of course there is a few blank spots in this story that are missing for me regarding the past. Again, a me problem not a this books problem. I actually did not have a issue following the story at all even with it being the 4th book in the series and not having a back story because Anne gave me everything I needed to understand what was happening in the now of this book.

Sophie is a fucking queen. What a heroine. Honestly I admire her strength even in times of weakness. She had tremendous characters with so many layers to her fiesty personality that there was never a time I was bored of her. I feel like she caught the shit stick of luck and pushed through it for as long as she could until she just couldn't anymore. However even in those low moments she still never shoved the blame elsewhere. I loved her a lot!.

Conall, bless his soul was just the sweetest to Sophie. I really admired his loyalty to her even in the most dysfunctional of circumstances. His strength and character was true top form. I loved that even though he was this big badass wolf king he wasn't afraid of being vulnerable to her. He didn't have the greatest of times through this book or in the past but somehow he still moved forward and stood tall. I love him a lot but even more so, for her.

Isla. I mean I couldn't not mention her could I?. I love when a book has strong side characters because I feel like it gives the book more substance and something extra for the reader to grab onto. In this case Isla obviously isn't new to most but to me she was positively a delight. Her outright outrageous lethal mouth had me in tears of laughter to often. She had me sold the minute Sophie found that phone and I just knew she was going to steal my soul. Conall nailed it when he said Isla is Sophie's mate. Even just from this book you feel that raw burning connection between them. That unmistakable bond that even the most dysfunctional happenings can't break. It's a thing of magic. That friendship is something special.

Their journey most definitely isn't your typical romance. Not even by PNR standards. Multiple POV's with a tone of crazy things all happening at once honestly you forget about the romance for a second. The connection between Sophie and conall is unmistakable. It's fucking lethal actually. That raw palpable chemistry literally exploded anytime they were near eachother. Considering how hotheaded they both are they also surprisingly level eachother out. It's not all cutesy hearts and flowers. It brutal, raw and at times heart wrenchingly painful for all involved. There were times my jaw just dropped because I really didn't expect what happened to happened. Anne masterfully spins their tale seamlessly making their journey unpredictable but impactful. I was so fucking invested in it all I gave myself a headache from thinking to hard. I laughed ALOT!. So much sarcasm i can't even with the witt. I gasped in shock, prayed for sanity and shouted at my kindle like a crazy lady. It was a journey. But what a fucking ride it was.

Obviously this is a interconnected series so there are questions left unanswered and lots of exciting and equally nerve wracking future possibilities. I'm satisfied with how things ended but I'm also beyond excited to see where the next story will take me on this crazy journey.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️”I will always know you, Sophie. Always feel you. And you are not gone. You will always be mine.”
.
Sophie’s story...

Death was death.
No takebacks.
Certainly no comebacks.
.
If you love:
•Paranormal romance
•Sarcasm
•Second Chances
•Multiple POV’s
•Strong heroines
Then this is the book for you!✨
.
Its no secret I’m a huge fan of this author. But is it just me or can you really feel and hear the author in this book?! It was as badass as she is! This series really takes you on a journey and this book was no different. This was a great conclusion to Sophie and Conall’s story. And my gosh, the love that wolf has for his witch. You felt that so deep. The chemistry. Wowzers.✨
.
The other characters are right along for the ride, Isla as sarcastic as ever. But you do feel underlying emotions. From her and Thane. But that friendship between Isla and Sophie... unbreakable. There is a good story there in the works, from the King and his ‘Helen’, I can just feel it! And let’s not forget our favourite bartender. I see great potential!! Another great book in this series!!

I was provided an ARC for my honest review!✨

Buried Destiny😍👠🍾

Sophie finally makes her debut in a dramatic fashion and it’s nothing if not gloriously DARK❣️A war is coming and it might be the end.....😜

So much happened in this one but I feel as though I can’t go into to much detail as I’d ruin it for those of you, who are still waiting to read this...but I will say this, I’m looking forward to the Vampire King and his human finding an HEA and I’m hoping the Demon bartender will find his voice and tell Anne his story too🤩🤷‍♀️ A not to be missed story by Anne and if you haven’t started this series and you love paranormal like I do, put this on your TBR list ASAP😍

I received an advanced copy and I voluntarily leave my honest review😘

Oh how I have missed Isla and Sophie!! Anne has done it again. This book was fantastic and would make any PNR fan happy.

I mean how can you go wrong with 2 immortals who have a killer style and are BFF's. This one is more of Sophie's story an what she has to deal with and the pressures she is under. I mean a war has started and she is needs to be in the middle. Then Isla and her own trials just make me laugh and I love the way Anne describes things, it is just perfect.

I suggest you read these in order or else you will be lost. Anne Malcom just keeps me on my toes with this one and will always be a must read author for me.

I started this book not knowing it was the 4th book in a series, but it didn't really matter. I was hooked from the first chapter. Sophie and Conall have AMAZING chemistry. The friendship between Isla and Sophie is REAL and gritty, and I love every second of it.

The beginning is dark, and I wasn't sure where the story was going to go from there. But it's...kinda glorious, really.

Strong female characters abound in the book, and they're done SO WELL. There's action, tons of snark, romance, love, violence, and loyalty. It's pretty much a win, and now I HAVE to go read the other books.

The witch we love has gone dark. Hang on, because the twists will gut you. Our favorite besties are in for the fight of their lives.

Sophie’s fate hangs in the balance. We were left not knowing what would become of her.

Grave witches are real. Death alludes some. However, coming back from death does not come without great cost. Each time Sophie is brought back, the darkness takes more. She is being consumed by the blackness.

Not even her mate or her best friend can reach her once she’s on a rampage. Revenge on those in her past, as well as the witches trying to contain her power, will be eliminated. Some of the innocent will fall.

Conall’s love has no bounds. He will do whatever it takes to bring her back. And if he can’t, he’ll love what’s left of her.

Sophie does not make it easy to forgive her wrath. But once her powers are bound and her rage is contained, the Sophie we kniw and love re-emerges. However, now she must re-build what she has broken.

Her and Isla need to risk it all to save everyone. Sophie doesn’t plan on surviving the aftermath. However, the sacrifice for her loved ones will be worth it. Coming back again, less of herself, is not an option.

The continuing saga delivers heartbreaking surprises over and over. Love endures. Forgiveness is hard, but when you truly love someone you work towards it. I love this cast of unlikely allies. A family amongst themselves. This story will bring the drama and continue to deliver a compelling battle that will keep you invested.

What. The. F***!

I feel this book has literally ripped me apart and then roughly stitched me just so I can be ripped apart again. And repeat as I move through the book!
I was on my knees at the end of the last one and it took a while to get to my feet, only to be knocked down again. For immortals, this lot pack a hell of an emotional punch to your emotions!
I need wine.........and chocolate! STAT!

This is the fourth book of the Vein chronicles series and they do need reading in order.
What an amazing culmination of events! I have loved this series from the start. Isla, the hot and sassy vampire takes a back seat in this book as we follow the events through Sophie’s eyes, ears and heart.
Now, that’s not to say that we don’t get more kick ass vampire action, and some time with the very hot and brooding Thorne, because we totally do. But this book, takes us literally from the grave up, down and round the houses.
There are lots of questions answered in this book, and a few more posed throughout. One thing that is certainly not missing is the chemistry, and the depth of emotion. For a mindless mutt Connell sure manages to get the emotions going.
I really liked that this isn’t *just* a romantic love story, this would be nothing without the friendship and support of family. The friends who became our family, that pull us back in to ourselves when we’re lost, that call us on our sh!t, that hold our hands as they ask the hard questions.
Its beautifully balanced and wonderfully written. I’m still hoping Dante gets a book somewhere down the line! Hold your hats because it’s about to get windy in Kansas, the wicked witch is back!

HOW HAVE I NOT READ MORE BOOKS IN THIS SERIES YET?!?! Sorry to yell, but omg, Buried Destiny is a standalone and Anne Malcom did a wonderful job of making me feel as if I was not missing out on any of this story because I have not read the previous books, but I WANTED to stop what I was doing and go back and read them first to see how everything was playing out. There is definitely a big picture here, which is really awesome.

Now about the book, wowzerrrssss. I am usually opposed to 3rd person books, but with the writing style, I did not feel as if I was missing anything at all and almost forgot a few times that it was not in the first person. The characters are amazing and all of them have their special quirks and attitudes and I loved them all. This might have been Sophie's story, but there is so much more going on, without it being overwhelming.

All in all this book was an amazing paranormal romance in which things are a little witchy and you can easily connect to the characters. I cannot wait to go back and read the other books and be on the lookout for future ones- amazing job and 5 stars from me!

PS: Thank you to Anne Malcom and Wildfire Marketing Solutions for allowing me an advanced copy of the book to read and review honestly!

I have waited for this book rather impatiently, and finally I got my hands on it and dived right in. This story dragged me through hell right along with Sophie and had me frustrated, mad and crying beside her too. Anne knows how to take her readers on the ride and then some!

Sophie is the bad-ass bitch-witch best friend of Isla the vampire and her story picks right up where Eternity’s Awaking leaves off. When Sophie comes back from the dead she brings with her something evil that tries to destroy everything in its’ path, but it didn’t count on the mate that Sophie left behind.

Sophie and Conall’s story is amazing, has the twists and turns Anne’s known for and some surprises along the way. The ending though......

Before you read this EPIC episode of Sophie, you MUST start from the beginning of the series. These books need to be read in order- the first being Fatal Harmony.

PNR is not my thing. But I ADORE the author and her other work, so I decided a while back to give it a whirl. And I was SUCKED in immediately! Isla is snarky like you e never seen, and her best girlfriend Sophie is a close second. Each book in the series is completely over the top in action, romance of a unique breed, and chock full of loyalty and friendship.

This episode of Sophie and her wolf hold all the action of the previous 3 (and the Novella), but also a lot more pain and soul searching. It was a wild ride, with an explosive ending!

Buried Destiny is book 4 in The Vein Chronicles. You definitely need to read the others before starting this one in order to understand everything happening. While the other 3 books have mainly been Isla's point of view, we get insight into Sophie with this one. In order to keep this spoiler free, I'll just give my opinion about the whole book. I felt there are still stories thst need to be wrapped up. There is a lot going on with Isla and Thorne and Lucille as well as "Rick". I'm hoping for more books to wrap up those stories.
Overall it was a very good book. It definitely had less of Isla's crazy in it! It'll be good to see where these characters go from here.

Way to go out with a bang! Amazing read and great conclusion to Sophie and her wolf's story. I read this cover last night. The beginning of the book blew my mind- I wasn't sure she was coming back from that. I also loved Isla in this story. She was hysterical. Sophie and her wolf also had so much chemistry. I like that we got to see how they are in a relationship and watch them development. Such a good story line in all the Vein Chronicle series. Now we have to wait for the King and his 'Helen'!! Kudos Anne another great one.

They're back, and they're amazing and bada$% as EVER! Get ready for more Isla and Sophie like you've never seen this dynamic duo before! Buried by Destiny, the fourth installment in the Vein Chronicles by Anne Malcom, was so not what I expected, yet it was also more. I so, so loved the fierce friendship we get from Isla and Sophie, almost more than the romance between "the wolf and his moon". Just almost, but not quite. The emotion and heat that Anne Malcom poured into this story was to die for, and I couldn't get enough. I can't wait to see where the rest of this story goes!

Buried Destiny is the fourth installment in the entertaining Vein Chronicles Vampire Series. It is dark, intense, and, at times, heart breaking. The characters seem larger than life, especially Isla and Sophie. And the way Anne Malcom crafts this unique and original tale is pure magic. If you love intrigue, sarcasm, and over the top female warriors, with plenty of blood, high fashion, and saving the world, you will enjoy this whole series immensely. 5 Magical Stars!

My most FAVORITE series ever!! This book was everything! I laughed, cried, threw my hands up in frustration and in the end, felt complete. Sophie, such a bad bitch, I mean witch. To see what she had to endure was heartbreaking. I didn't think I would make it through this book, but the love of her wolf was unfailing, so strong. This book will take you on a wild ride, but boy is it worth it. Do yourself a favor and read this series. You won't be sorry!
