THIS BOOK IS A RE-RELEASE OF "WHEN HE FEELS LIKE HOME" BY ML BASH. Ann’Renee had a seemingly perfect life. She got into her dream school, moved away from the small town where she was raised and then never looked back. Her new life became everything she wanted it to be, complete with a great job, great home, supportive family and filthy rich boyfriend of nine years. However, when her grandmother unexpectedly dies she rushes home to be with her family and quickly realizes everything she’s ever known has changed and is still changing, a fact that is only assured by her meeting a local mechanic who pushes her to face her own insecurities and decipher the advice her grandmother gave her years and years ago. Ann’Renee is forced to decide quickly if a man feeling like home means a calmness in her heart or familiarity for her routine.
The story was enjoyable with a lighthearted feeling. The main drama in the story was related closer to poor communication, rather than too much extraness... I think you will enjoy this love story.
I had this book in my kindle just setting and after finally getting to it I really enjoyed it. This was really unique because I wasn’t sure we were getting the HEA. Ann’Renee was so unsure about things. The fact that she almost lost Satori for real because she was trying to give a relationship that last 9 years one more chance was crazy to me. She was able to be the person she was destined to be because Satori only wanted what was best for her. I loved him despite his cigarette smoking habit. His character was just so endearing to me.
This was somewhat of an instalove story. It was cute. Reni was very impulsive with a serious temper. She didn’t cry at major life events but cried when Nique cried. Okay. Her family is a hot mess. The MMC left a lot to be desired in the beginning. Cigarettes? Gross. He pretty much said the FMC was average, then gorgeous in the next chapter, then said her mom looked better than her a couple pages letter. I did like seeing black people do activities we don’t normally see like surfing and cliff diving. Nat was annoying but they were kind of flaw to not say anything especially because Nat and Satori are “brothers”. Rowland was a day late and a dollar short. But I guess the moral of this story is, if he wanted to he would. I could’ve done without Andy’s storyline. Like what was the point? I felt bad for Khia and Jaxon. Satori also didn’t have to put Arkin’s business out there to make his point. And at the end of it all, did Reni deserve a HEA?
The story could’ve flowed better. The author did a lot of explaining menial things in scenes. Some grammar issues, especially comma placement and the overuse of dashes. The author switched up tenses several times. There were also some inconsistencies.
It has been a while since I’ve read a book where the FMC and the MMC were ordinary people looking for love. I didn’t have to stop reading to look up a designer I had never heard of, cringe when the children cursed in front of their parents, or take a break because someone was hanging from the ceiling awaiting their fate.
My first time reading this Author and it was pure joy. The storyline will touch on all of your emotions, and spoiler alert, YOU WILL WANT TO FIGHT THE FMC! But the ending is a beautiful HEA!
Reni wasn't happy with Rowland and she knew it. But after investing so much time she it was worth it. Santori was home always. I'm glad everything worked out.
Even though Ann'Renee had me HOT at 8am I still really enjoyed this book. It's my first read from this author and I'll definitely be back. If you like a small town romance with some extra drama and a little stupidity (LOL) mixed in, definitely check this one out!!
