Wishing Bridge #3

Finding Peace in Wishing Bridge

Rate this book
Creator of the bestselling "Welcome to Wishing Bridge" and "At Home in Wishing Bridge" award-winning author Ruth Logan Herne invites readers back to the little town with the big heart with "Finding Peace in Wishing Bridge". Being a supermodel isn't just hard. It can be a killer, so when international sensation Jazz Monroe answered a friend's call for help, she'd just taken a hiatus from the job that made her a very rich woman and almost took her life. Outwardly Jazz was everything anyone would want to be. Beautiful, confident, rich and famous, and often seen on the arm of some of the world's most eligible bachelors, Jazz knows the truth she hides. Her self-confidence is an act and the eating disorder that plagues her refuses to let her rest. But then she and her old friend Thea are called to help a friend and fulfill a pledge they'd made a dozen years before as high school seniors. If any one of the three ever needed help, the others would come running. Last December, Kelsey made that call and her two old friends, the other members of the "Soul Sisterhood", responded. They're here now. Thea is practicing medicine, Kelsey has married the hero deputy that saved her life and Jazz is finding the hints of peace that have eluded her for nearly two decades. She settles into the little town, helping out at a local diner, waiting for the sky to fall. It doesn't. Instead, the sun begins to shine, winter fades to spring, and surrounded by new and old friends, Jazz begins to believe in herself. She loves the small town, the kindness of the locals, the warmth of the family diner and the special attention from two very different and distinct men makes her think new thoughts. Thoughts of family and picket fences and settling down. But an unexpected attack on a wood-edged path reignites her fears and insecurities. Now she's looking in shadows again, doubting herself and others. In Manhattan, locked elevators and a staffed entrance desk kept her safe from intruders. Wishing Bridge has nothing like that. Here, she lives life at ground level, with no bodyguards watching out for her. But when a local contingent makes it their job to keep her safe, Jazz learns not to sell the small town short. Folks here mean what they say because that's the kind of town Wishing Bridge is. As Jazz rediscovers the most important things in life, she realizes that happiness isn't about where you it's about who you're with. And who you love. Join Jazz, Kelsey, Thea and the rest of the Wishing Bridge cast as they band together to help the town and one another because together-- in Wishing Bridge-- they can make anything happen.

FINDING PEACE IN WISHING BRIDGE is the third book in the Wishing Bridge series. To be honest, I fell in love with the cover the minute I saw it. I knew I would read it anyway, because I love Ruth Logan Herne, but the cover really pulled me in. I loved everything about this beautiful story and I’m excited to continue the series. Ruth Logan Herne always has a way of grabbing her readers and she never lets us go. Jacinda, also known as Jazz, Monroe, international model turned small town girl, has just started finding herself, and freedom, when she’s attacked at a town Fourth of July celebration. Jazz grew up in South Philadelphia and never thought she could be happy in a small rural town, but Wishing Bridge is really growing on her.

Once again, Ruth Logan Herne owes me a box of tissues! FINDING PEACE IN WISHING BRIDGE shredded my heart over and over again! What an emotional story this is! When I was finished reading I couldn’t get Jazz out of my head and went through half a box of tissues thinking about her and how scared she was! But Jazz’s story is filled with so much hope, that I was instantly cheering her on! I can honestly tell you this, I am going to read everything that Ruth Logan Herne has written. I am a forever fan of her beautiful stories and I only have a handful of her older books to find and read. I’ve read almost every one of them! FINDING PEACE IN WISHING BRIDGE had my emotions all over the place and near the end, I was afraid to keep reading. This is what Ruthie does to me each and every time!

FINDING PEACE IN WISHING BRIDGE is filled with twists and turns and had me staying up way too late one night to finish! I had to know where Ruth Logan Herne was taking us and what would happen to Jazz. I really loved how the whole community came to Jazz’s aid and only wanted her to feel loved, protected, and welcomed! There is so much heart in Ruth’s writing that I’m always left with a huge smile on my face and my heart very happy. I could totally see FINDING PEACE IN WISHING BRIDGE becoming a Hallmark movie and I would love to see it. All of the characters are very interesting and believable, so much so that I felt as if I’ve known them for a long time. I wish Wishing Bridge was a real town! I would pack my bags in an instant! I love how Ruthy does that to me each and every time.

Whoa! I wasn't expecting that sort of intense start to this novel! Finding Peace in Wishing Bridge is all that is wonderful and homey and heartwarming about a Ruthy novel with a zing of stalkerish suspense to jazz things up. (Ha! Did you catch that play on words?)

Woohoo -- the Soul Sisterhood is back and I absolutely love that Thea and Kelsey get significant page time too. You could definitely read the Wishing Bridge books as standalones but relationships build across the series so some aspects of this story will impact you more if you read them in order. Especially one heart-stopping moment where I actually screamed "Noooooooooo!" and tossed the book aside! Rest assured, no spines were damaged during the course of my bibliophile tantrum BUT I did sulk for a while before I commenced reading again. :-)

And that's because Herne writes from the heart about real life. It's raw and real and messy and my emotions go into overdrive. I was a blubbering mess by the time I reached the end. I've had two years to build up Jazz's story in my mind and the author bedazzled me with some surprising twists and turns including the stalker angle and a sort-of-maybe-love triangle.

Plus this is a multi point of view story with a real community feel to it. And a secondary romance! And cute kids! I'm in readerly seventh heaven -- especially because...drum roll please...this isn't the end of the series! We get to travel back to Wishing Bridge in 2021 and there seems to be an Amish angle to the next story judging by the sneak peek we're given of chapter one. Double eeeeepppp!

My thanks to the author for gifting me with a copy of this book.

'...a little town where prayer and wishes mingled so dreams could come true.'

When I first visited Wishing Bridge with the first book in this series, I knew right then I wanted to know more. I loved all the wonderful residents, the businesses and it just came alive for me. With each book in the series, I loved it more. And eagerly anticipated Jazz's story, the last gal in the Soul Sisterhood, a group formed by three young girls who were in foster care together, after enduring painful lives, but raised by a very Godly and wonderfully nurturing foster mother. Now all three live in Wishing Bridge. And we get to see Jazz in her very own story, and what a story it is! I loved every single minute and wept many times during the reading of it, ugly, full out, bawling. And I'm not one bit ashamed of it, either. This book was worth every tear.

Ever since I read the first book from Ruth Logan Herne, I knew that she wrote with heart. Just so much heart. It wasn't the wonderful characters, though they are abundant. It's not the plots, though they are full and rich. It's not her writing skill, though it is wonderfully evident. No, it's the heart, her precious and full heart, that cause all her stories to reach out and grab our hearts tht make her books veritable treasures. Treasures that I am proud to place on my shelves. Because they are indeed rich treasures. I highly recommend this book and author.

I read book two of this series for the first time just a couple months back and have been itching for Jazz’s story ever since! The little taste of the people circling around her and all the heartache she was going through gave me just enough of a glimpse to whet my appetite. This book was as delightful as I hoped. :) Plus I loved getting caught up in the general awesomeness of the town of Wishing Bridge as a whole. I love these people, I truly do.

Jazz’s journey is far from easy, but her determination to push through, not to mention the amazing friendships she has with Thea and Kelsey, simply endeared her to me from our first “meeting”. She is ever so much stronger than she imagines herself and with God on her side and the love from everyone that surrounds her, she begins to slowly figure this out. I loved watching her grow, especially as she conquered fears and doubt. I will admit that the fact she gets in the middle of a bit of a love triangle disappointed me, as I dislike that particular trope. Yet it’s once again the three women at the core of this series which gives it so much heart and keeps bringing me back to reread my favorite bits. These ladies simply love each other so well, even amidst mistakes made and forgiveness needed. (But especially when one is struggling, for the others encourage and cheer her on!) They understand one another and it seeps through every interaction. I want to be friends with them!

Ms. Herne proves yet again her ability to jump from heart-pounding tense moments to the sweetest adorableness all the while never losing a moment of momentum. Every interaction motivates the next and the next, and the threads of hope and joy in spite of uncertainty are beautifully done. Somehow all these different elements weave together to create a smooth and intriguing picture by the end. One which I thoroughly enjoyed! (In case you can’t tell. ;) From edge of your seat, to slow and romantic, to laughter and fun, this book is a keeper, my friends. Don’t miss out! Get a copy and try it for yourself.

Jazz Monroe is settling down after her high profile career seriously threatened her life, she answers the call of one of her best friends which leads her to Wishing Bridge. Her life is settling down, and she's finally finding peace and making friends while working at a small town diner and restoring her new home.

But an unexpected attack has her questioning her safety and her new life.

This book picks up where the previous books left off, continuing to follow both Thea and Kelsey, along with many other beloved community members. Definitely a series that you would benefit from reading in order, as Jazz's story began in the background of the very first book in the series.

Heartwarming read that follows many community members, as well as Jazz's story which adds a touch of suspense. I love how all the of the stories intertwined, bringing people together, connecting them with faith. I loved Max, and Garrett, as well as how it continues the story of the brothers.

Overall, an enjoyable, and utterly fantastic read. I had read the previous book in the series, so when I saw the option to review this one, I jumped at the chance. There was a lot of things going on with multiple engaging storylines and continuing plots from the previous installments. Great depth, and inspiring message of faith. I didn't want to put it down and read it in nearly one sitting. Highly recommend the whole Wishing Bridge Series!

This was the first book I have read by this author and I enjoyed it. Her writing style was good. I enjoyed the main character of Jazz. I also really enjoyed all of the sub-characters. I think I might have enjoyed the secondary characters more than the main character. Not because the main character of Jazz wasn't done well, but I think the secondary characters were done so well that I actually resonated more with them. Jeb and Maggie stole my heart. I should also add that this is book 3 in a series. I didn't have any problems following along but I always like to point it out when it's part of a series. There were only 2 things I didn't like. One was the fact that we didn't see much of the "bad guy" I don't want to give away any spoilers, I just thought that aspect of the story could have been developed more. Two, there is one use of the word bloody used as an exclamation or in exasperation. I wasn't offended by it but it pulled me out of the story because I was trying to figure out why the author would randomly add an unusual word like this. it just threw me off. Overall a good book that i would recommend to most. I received this book through the JustRead tour program for free. A positive review was not required. All opinions are my own.

Finding Peace in Wishing Bridge by Ruth Logan Herne is the third in the Wishing Bridge series. Wishing Bridge, a small town filled with the kind of where there are no strangers, only friends who are family.

After leaving the super model world behind, Jess Monroe joins her friends Kelsey and Thea who have already experienced the love and small town welcome of Wishing Bridge. The model lifestyle has almost been the death of Jess Monroe, quite literally. Now having made a home for herself, and working as a waitress, in Wishing Bridge Jess is beginning to feel a measure of peace and security that she’s never truly experienced, until someone attacks her while on a run one day. Now all her anxieties and fears come tumbling back despite her best efforts to set them aside.

After the attack, the entire town pulls together ensure Jess not only feels safe, but is safe, and one of the most important tasks is finding out who attacked her in their small park, on July 4th evening! Of course, there just might be a handsome man with an invested interest in solving the mystery.

It has been a while since I’ve visited the fictional town of Wishing Bridge and I was thrilled to return, catch up with some old friends and meet some new ones in the third book in Ruth Logan Herne’s series.

As many of the residents gather around Jazz in her time of need, Herne spins that small-town magic that makes you want to be a part of them. And while I couldn’t really relate to Jazz (a high fashion super model with plenty of money and a past filled with magazine shoots and travel), she is likable.

There’s a hint of suspense with Jazz’s stalker and the few intermissions from his perspective keep the danger at the edge of the readers’ minds. But what really stole the show in Finding Peace in Wishing Bridge for me was the kids. Herne writes children so well, and their excitement and imagination over the fairy houses that pop up in the second half of the book are delightful and filled my heart with joy.

I was also very happy to see this story isn’t a permanent goodbye to this town and these characters. It’s simply an “until next time.”

When I signed up for this tour, I didn't realize that it was part of a series. I wish I had had the time to read the first two books before this one! I was able to enjoy the story despite not reading the first two books, but the glimpses I had of Kelsey and Thea's stories in Finding Peace in Wishing Bridge make me look forward to reading more about the little town, even if I did read them out of order.
I have enjoyed the other books I have read by Ruth, so I knew I was in for a treat when I picked up this book. She did not disappoint! The book started out with Jazz meeting up with some friends on the Fourth of July and getting attacked by someone who knows her name. Her past has made her susceptible to stalkers, so her friends band together with some of the local law enforcement to protect her.
This is an excellent story!

I read the first two books in the series right before this one and I liked how they all complemented each other. The small town setting is quaint and idyllic, and the dialogue between the characters has a distinct voice of faith-filled wisdom. All the wonderful characters of the previous books are present and integral in the plot of this third book, which has a more suspenseful tone than the others from the get-go. The tension of waiting for Jazz's stalker to strike again is drawn out through the entire book, but the small glimpses we get from his perspective kept the interest from waning. There are a few subplots that work together to make the story layered- her neighbor with a curious little boy and a heartbreaking secret, the local cop who has the potential for more than friendship, Max and Jill's blossoming romance, and the interactions with the children and friends that continue from the first two books. I again felt somewhat removed from the emotion of the story, but I was happy to see how the characters grew and developed and helped each other through their struggles.

This book is a story that is captivating and heartfelt penned by well known author, Ruth Logan Herne. Jazz Monroe is longing for peace after years of being a supermodel and almost destroying her body. The attack on her life brought her dear friends in Wishing Bridge closer as they sought the assailant and keeping Jazz safe. Garrett Jackson and his partners met to develop a safety plan even when Jazz moved to an elite gated community. His attraction for Jazz was there but he thought he didn’t stand a chance when she met her neighbor Gus and five year old Emerson. Jazz’s compassion for Emerson with his declining disorder brought tears and laughter with her interaction with him.

The unexpected scenes gave way to a broad range of emotions but many cheers with the kindness, dedication, givers, faith and God loving individuals in the story. The primary and secondary characters are ones you want for lifetime friends. There are many gems in this story that made me smile and wish all small towns were like Wishing Bridge. I highly recommend this book, so purchase your copy and the entire series today. I was glad to see Herne has another book coming in 2021 with a least known character that is part of the fictional town Wishing Bridge.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author and was under no obligation to write a review. I have expressed my sincere opinion.

I did not read the first two Wishing Bridge books, so there was a lot of names I had to learn, but it really wasn't so much trouble. This is Jazz's story. When she moved to Wishing Bridge she wasn't planning on staying, but shes still here and loving it. Jazz is the third of the Soul Sisters, and hers is a story that will stay with me for a while. The emotions at every turn were heart gripping, and I shed a lot of tears while reading this story. I love the small town of Wishing Bridge and it has everything we all like in small towns, especially the love and care everyone has for each other. And Jazz was their main concern in this story, because she has her share of difficult situations. And this caring community has been there for her.

You just have to fall in love with this strong cast of characters, both the main characters and secondary ones. In fact, I fell in love with the entire book. Wishing Bridge is a community everyone would love to live. I love Ruth Logan Herne's books. I love that she puts her heart into each of her stories and this is something you can feel in them as you are reading. And I appreciate the subtle way she writes the Christian faith into the lives of the characters. This is a series well worth the read. I plan to read the first two books, and I can't wait to read the forth book in this series in 2021!

A special thanks to the author/publisher for a copy of this book. I am not required to write a positive review, the opinions here are mine alone. I am disclosing this with my review in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR, Part 255.

I enjoyed this sweet and suspenseful story set in a wonderful small town. I liked Jazz and how independent and strong she was. She had already been through a lot with her career and eating disorder and wasn't about to let a possible stalker scare her away from the future she wanted. The other characters in the story were great, from the elderly couple to a retired cop to her friends. They became her family. Garrett, one of the deputies and a friend who decided to guard her, was sweet and brave and cared about people, from Jazz who he had a crush on to a neighbor teen he hired who needed a job and wasn't getting enough to eat. There was a sweet little boy with a health condition who just stole my heart, he was so cute and joyful. His dad seemed to like Jazz as well. Garrett and Jazz's friends all seemed to have a strong faith while Jazz struggled a bit. There were some cute romantic moments. I felt there was a little too much discussion about how to protect Jazz and their strategy but overall I liked this story and I need to catch up on her friends' stories by reading the first two books in the series. This one did work well as a stand-alone. I recommend this book if you like a sweet romance in a wonderful community.

Finding Peace in Wishing Bridge is one of those heart warming books that grabs the reader’s emotions and doesn’t let go until the very end. Featuring Jazz, a famous retired international fashion model who just wants to settle down into a peaceful home surrounded by people she loves. She has found what she considers exactly the right place in Wishing Bridge where two of her dearest friends have already made their home but her peaceful world is rudely interrupted by an attempted attack by an unknown man. Jazz is afraid she will never find the peace she desires until her possible stalker is found. The fine folk of Wishing Bridge surround Jazz with their protection, love, and lots of prayers. One man in particular fights his attraction to her, believing that he is not good enough for someone of her position. Jazz meets Gus, her neighbor and falls quickly in love with his adorable son Emerson, not knowing the tragic secret Gus attempts to hide from the world.

I loved all the citizens of Wishing Bridge and the way they worked together in community, each one helping those in need as their own talents allowed. I loved the fairy trail created by Max for the children. I also loved Emerson’s enthusiastic little boy zest for life despite his serious illness. Finding Peace in Wishing Bridge is a tale that ends well despite a few harrowing side trails and tears along the way. For a feel good book, this is definitely one I would recommend.

Three friends come to find and call Wishing Bridge home. Finding Peace in Wishing Bridge is the story of the third friend, super model Jazz Monroe and how she falls in love with Wishing Bridge and comes to call it home. It’s about her struggle with an eating disorder and wanting to move on and away from her fame and money seeking career. It’s about the importance of long lasting friendship, and of course romance. There’s also a bit of suspense in this story due to a stocker and the lack of body guards to protect Jazz. This is a beautiful small town story that readers will absolutely love and not want to miss.

To be honest, I wasn’t aware that this was the third book in a series, but after starting it and wondering about the various characters, I backed up and began listening to Welcome to Wishing Bridge. The audiobook, made housework, cooking, and working outside much more fun! Plus, I could finish the book faster that way.

The town of Wishing Bridge is filled with a cast of characters you’ll want to familiarize yourself with. And I can almost promise that you will love them instantly. They are diverse in personalities and so believable that it’s easy to visualize them. And the town itself is squeezably wonderful. A place that’s quaint and full of just the right amount of goodness, faith, and even a little bit on orneriness.

Early in the book Jazz runs into trouble. As she hurries down a dark path to meet her friends for a Fourth of July celebration she senses someone behind her. The sound grows closer and closer until someone whispers her name and a warning, and then grabs her arm.

Jacinda “Jazz” Monroe takes a lot of the spotlight in book 3. She is a former supermodel who now is a waitress/real estate investor. She is beautiful, confident, rich, famous, and the envy of many. But down deep, she is hiding a secret.

Her past makes her susceptible to stalkers so her friends work together to help protect her. Did I mention there might be a stalker in this book? Sound interesting? It is.

My Thoughts

If at all possible, back up and start with the first book. The story, town, and characters are well worth reading the whole series.

Finding Peace in Wishing Bridge can certainly work as a standalone book. But the emotions wrapped around each character won’t be felt the same without knowing their history.

Though I mentioned a stalker and mystery, don’t let that mislead you. It’s not the main focus of this book. The plot is much deeper. There are touching thoughts and lessons to be picked up. The three main characters share a friendship that you’ll want to be a part of.

What Concerned Me
Nothing. Well, a little something. I think you’ll really enjoy this book so much more if you start with Welcome to Wishing Bridge.

What I Liked Most
If you’re a fan of character-driven stories, I highly recommend this series. I think it’ll give you a warm fuzzy feeling and all the emotions that go along with diving into a small town with various personalities.

My thanks to NetGalley and Just Read Tours for a complimentary copy of this book. This review is strictly my opinion.

"In Wishing Bridge she wanted to be known for her open heart, her kindness and her character."

Former supermodel Jazz Monroe has travelled the world and made millions of dollars, but the charming community of Wishing Bridge has begun to feel like home . . . until an unexpected trauma completely tangles her sense of small town security. Is it possible that someone is intent on destroying not only her peace of mind, but her very life?

As local friends come to her rescue, Jazz has the opportunity to remember that trust is an integral ingredient in friendship, especially when it comes to the quiet strength of a local law enforcement officer whose concern for her well being trumps any confusing signals that she might inadvertently send about her feelings for the handsome Garrett Jackson.

Filled with folksy charm and just a bit of ongoing suspense, this return to Wishing Bridge stages its fair share of reality among members of a close knit community, "because no matter how rough things (get), the blessings outnumber the negatives".

Wonderful Wishing Bridge!

Oh, this book! I could not put it down. My heart will never be the same. I was so very happy to be visiting Wishing Bridge again. ❤❤❤
This is indeed a roller coaster of emotions. A story filled with love, suspense, love, true friendship, and love. Yes, I know I mentioned love three times. There are many kinds of love here.
Without giving anything away, I will say that tissues are necessary.

Wishing bridge, small town beauty, love and friendship found in this wonderful town.
This was my first visit to this wonderful town and my first book by this author but i loved the people of Wishing Bridge, Jazz and her friends and the whole community were my new best friends 😁.
I loved Jazz and her determination to get over her past and the fears that held her bound, watching her grow as she overcame those hurdles and found love in the process.
The added mystery of a stalker and the suspense attached to it also made the story all the more enjoyable.

I really enjoy books that have a "Small Town" setting. Finding Peace in Wishing Bridge by Ruth Logan Herne is a book with a Small Town Setting. Books with Small Town settings have a comfortable feel about them and bring the sense of community to a book when reading it.

Book 3 in the Wishing Bridge series features the story of Jazz. The series is about 3 girls who were raised in Foster Care by a godly mother and the bond they formed turned into a life long friendship/sisterhood. Jazz used to be a Supermodel, until she realized she was destroying her body and quits modeling. She is searching for peace and love for herself and living the life. She is with her friends at an outing and gets attacked and is now fearful for her life. She is just wanting to pursue a more peaceful life. Friends and others devise a plan to help get her to secluded place to protect her and help her find peace.

I really enjoyed this book. I did not read the first 2 books in the series, but I am highly interested in reading them now. The book is good as a Stand alone novel, although reading the books in order will bring the story together even more. GOOD READ!

This is the first of this author I am reading and it was a great journey through the lives of imperfect friends but their heart and willingness to be there for each other, going the extra mile. It is not easy to walk away from the limelight but I admired Jazz's courage to do what was right for her. I enjoyed the flow of the story, there was no dull moment. I fell in love with the mosaic of friends; Garrett, Ben, Haye, Jeb, Maggie, Thea, Kelsey, Max, Jill, Gus different people with different stories but they came together to be to each other what they needed most. The kids of the story were the highlight of the book. Even when their was a stalker on the loose, death and uncertainties, their faith in God ran through.

I received a copy of this book and this is my honest opinion.

My Thoughts on Finding Peace in Wishing Bridge by Ruth Logan Herne
Suggested Beverage Pairing: Rootbeer Float served in a frozen glass
Characterization
Jacinda, Jazz, Monroe, international model turned small town girl, had just started finding herself, and freedom, when she’s accosted at a public event. Her small town friends rally around her to provide safety and security that she desperately needs. Unfortunately she wants those things on her own, not having to rely on others.

Garrett is a local deputy, and he might be attracted to an international model. He will do everything in his power to keep Jazz safe and living in Wishing Bridge. But will he be able to compete with a wealthy, single father who seems to be spending time with Jazz, too?

The Plot
Five stars for Finding Peace in Wishing Bridge by Ruth Logan Herne!

Let’s start with the small town of Wishing Bridge: it’s the small town America that many of us dream of or remember from our childhood. Community is something that is functioning as family. Everyone cares for everyone else and does whatever they can do to make life better for their neighbors. Well, unless you venture into the neighborhood of Harrowsmith Woods which is cut off from the community by a gate and has a host of rules. Why would our heroine, Jazz, want to live there?

Layers, upon layers, upon layers of plot lines in this book, and they are all weaved together seamlessly. This is apparently the third book in the series, however, I didn’t know that going into it, and it was easy to read as a standalone novel.

There is a stalker to catch, a child to heal, romantic relationships to develop, properties to restore, remodel, and rebuild, friends brought together through tragedy to rise triumphant, weddings to plan, funerals to attend, and throughout it all, love prevails. Even when unloving people do unloving things, love prevails.

This is a book full of friends I’d love to be friends with, children I’d love to chase fairies with, and a town I’d love to live in. It’s hard to even try to imagine something negative about Finding Peace in Wishing Bridge, but you might need to have some tissues handy as you read.

I truly hope you enjoy this book as much as I did. I’m going to have to go back and read the previous books in this series before the next one comes out.

I received an ARC of this book. All opinions included in this review are mine and mine alone.

Ruth Logan Herne knows how to craft an enchanting small town full of interesting characters and history. Wishing Bridge is a tiny town in upstate NY and this book is #3 in the series. I wish I had read the first two books; that would have helped me to better organize the secondary characters of this story in my mind since there were so many. The charming atmosphere and solidarity in Wishing Bridge are quite lovely, even if there is a bit of hostility towards the privileged who live in a gated community outside of the village.

There are multiple subplots within the story - a stalker hunting down Jazz, a little boy losing function to some kind of muscular dystrophy, things happening to the other two/three couples from the previous books, a romantic thread for Garrett’s aunt - in addition to Garrett and Jazz’s relationship. It was a lot for me to focus on, especially because I am new to Wishing Bridge and its inhabitants. I didn’t connect on a deeper level with the characters and spent most of the book trying to figure out how everyone was related to each other.

Read the first two books before picking this one up. I’m sure you’ll enjoy it thoroughly if you do.

It has been awhile since I've truly struggled to get through a novel and I hate to admit this, but Finding Peace in Wishing Bridge was a major struggle for me. This book is part of the Wishing Bridge series, and I haven't read the first two books yet, so maybe that was the problem, but I struggled to connect to the characters, to sympathize with their situations, and to feel apart of their quaint community.

Sweet little Emerson was one character that I did click with, his sunshine attitude glowing off the page, and bringing such brightness to a dark situation, and honestly kept reading to find out what happened to him, as well as Jazz and the whole stalker situation. I toiled with this novel, picking it up and putting it down, just not as vested as I wanted to be, but I knew there would come a moment when it all clicked, and thankfully it finally did.

The ending truly did redeem this novel for me, and I finally felt that kinship to the characters that I had craved all along, though I do have to say I was underwhelmed with how the stalker situation played out. I would've loved to have seen more action but in saying that the ending was quite satisfying, and I did close this book with a smile on my face.

Despite this book being a struggle for me, it did pique my curiosity to read the other books in the series so I can delve more into the wonderful town of Wishing Bridge, and see if not having more back story was the reason for my disconnect.

I very much enjoyed my first Wishing Bridge novel. Though I typically prefer to start with the first book, and this is a novel that is very much part of a series whose community of characters and their stories are strongly represented. So much so that I occasionally had trouble keeping the relationships sorted. But Jacinda “Jazz” Monroe, former super model turned small town waitress/real estate investor, is such an interesting lead and having her be pursued by a stalker as well as two very different men kept the story hopping.

Surprisingly, this story starts off with what might be the most intense scene. While the story of a super model dealing with emotional issues, many tied to an eating disorder, being stalked by a determined stalker doesn’t scream cozy, comfort read, that is exactly what this is. Not that there are not issues that Jazz has to deal with, whether that is the change in attitude when a diner customer learns of her past or her reaction (which I particularly enjoyed) to the prejudice she encounters in a gated community.

With a cast of characters that care for and take care of each other, banding together to protect Jazz and to help each other through illness and grief, this is the type of faith-filled small town story that has it’s excitement but leaves a gentle, warm impression. Multiple happily ever afters and a cast that includes adorable children also leave me hoping that Ruth Logan Herne will continue this series. I’d love to see Jazz’s HEA continued on.

This is the first book that I have read of Ms. Herne, but I really enjoyed it. This was a really cute and sweet read. It had just enough action to keep me interested but not enough to scare me.
I really liked meeting Jazz, she was such an interesting character. It was so cool for me to see how she learned to overcome her fears. She was strong, when she had to be but she also knew when it was time to let others help. She was also such a nice person, she did not let her fears stop her from loving and helping others.
I really loved Garret, he was a sweetheart. He loved Jazz and he wanted to protect her as much as he could. He wanted to be the kind of man that she could trust. It was also really sweet how he cared for Andrew and tried to help him without hurting Andrew’s pride.
I loved the other characters, Max, Jill, and the girls (Kelsey and Thea). They really helped make this a better book. Jill and Max were awesome characters. They helped Jazz grow and were there for her, but they didn’t try to coddle her.
I am so glad that I took the chance on this book. I really want to read the first two books now. I would totally recommend this book. If you want a clean Christian book that will keep you on the edge of your seat, but is still a quick read, this is the book.

Finding Peace in Wishing Bridge by Ruth Logan Herne was not at all peaceful for this reader! Let me explain. I've been looking forward to the story of Jazz Monroe, top money making model for 7 straight years, since the start of the Wishing Bridge series. High anticipation coupled with having waited a while to read book 2, and the opportunity to jump right into this book gave this reader a level of joy and expectations. I'm happy to report expectations were met, plus more. There's a bit of a suspense in this one that the first two did not, but since it wasn't a highlight, but rather a means to a storyline, I did not put too much emphasis on it. Without giving away spoilers, I will say that it shouldn't be read as a focus since this is not a romantic suspense. With that said, Finding Peace in Wishing Bridge rounds out the Wishing Bridge clan with grace, grit and determination.

The quaint village of Wishing Bridge has its cornerstone of characters that just brings people together. This is relevant from the start of all three books so far, but in this books, I think readers will see the resourcefulness of each one, especially when the peace of their town and their people are threatened. I love the story of human nature from pride to insecurity to finding the strength and courage to be good. There's so much to learn in this story, which makes it even more relevant in today's society. The value of life isn't about their past, their differences or how much money they make, but who they are and how they treat others despite their differences.

"Pride can trip us up, but it can also shore us up when needed. It's a tricky business."

"It's not always the circumstances that makes things weird. It's people's reactions to the circumstances. The choice to be kind. Or not."

There will be tears. There will be understanding and there will be realization of our own pride and prejudice. Believe it or not, there will always be a bit of Gus in each and every one of us. It's not pride speaking, but just a revelation that God will use whatever form to humble us. Humility is one theme that spoke loud and in truth, it should. That is why I said at the beginning, reading this book was not peaceful, because it gave me a bit of a heartache in many ways - from the characters to the storyline to the message. My mind did not shut off as this story ended. Be prepare for a story that may present a lesson you didn't expect to learn, but will anyway.

"In the end, it wasn't the caliber of one spectacular choice. It was the sum of daily choices that added weight to the scale."
