This 300 paged book is a complete guide on how you can be a better businessman and excel in your work.

What I observed was maximum emphasis was given on why customer satisfaction is so important along with supporting real-life examples.

The book gives you points on how to improve and which factors, when inculcated and acted upon, can make things better for you and your company/brand/business.

Delightful experience, customer loyalty, employee care, customer services - all of these are linked and are the key to grow.

The book is recommended for everyone, especially for the ones who are finding themselves stranded in a particular business phase or are about to start-up. It will help you find out what you need to focus on priority.

The book ends with business strategies for cost and growth in detail with examples.

I honestly appreciate how Rajesh Shrivastava has penned down his learning with real examples because that is how you find legit guidance and learnings.

This book is an absolute delight to read. When the contents are praised by eminent like Neeraj Roy, Founder & CEO - Hungama Digital Media Entertainment, Neeraj Kakkar, Co Founder - Paperboat, Ashish Bhasin, CEO of APAC and Chairman - Dentsu Aegis Network(India), Harish Bijoor, Brand Strategist Specialist and many others, these stands as a testimony to the amazing content the book has to offer. Rajesh Srivastava, the author needs no introduction since he held higher positions in companies like United Spirits(now Diageo India), J.K. Helene Curtis Ltd coupled with education in IIT & IIM which helped him in spearheading various brands. I thoroughly enjoyed reading the book as the contents were completely new and offered a unique way to approach the business which would capitulate to success.

I cleared my mind as was advised by the author in the very beginning which made me to grasp the contents as it is. I would suggest you to do the same.

The book is divided into 16 Rules which are as further sub-divided into various divisions.

Customer - Rules 1 to 4
Employee - Rules 5 & 6
Leadership - Rule 7
Brand - Rule 8
Workplace - Rule 9
Communication - Rule 10
Supply Chain - Rule 11 &
Business Strategy - Rules 12 to 16

Each of them gave a clear hindsight as to what were done by the successful companies like Amazon, Google, Microsoft, IKEA etc o be where they are today. It all begins with 1CQ(Central Question).

I was pleasantly surprised to read about Zappos which fired its customers for being rude to their employees. I could very much relate this to HSBC(UK) which did the same by closing the accounts of the customers for being rude to their contact center employees. I have witnessed this first time almost a decade ago.

When I read how the author handled one of the irate customer despite the brand not being at fault which pacified the customer, I found myself in the similar position of being a customer of a famous pen brand whose refills were at fault and when I complained, I received a dozen of them(some of them had the same issue though).

There are many intriguing events which found its way to the book which is worth mentioning here:

Do you know what is Warren Buffet's ABC rule?
What is the 5-Hour rule that is followed by Bill Gates, Warren Buffet & Oprah Winfrey?
Do you know from who did Nelson Mandela got his inspiration from?
Jeff Bezos's two pizza rule to name a few.

The book talks about B2B and B2C.

The distinction between a Brand, Cool Brand and a Super Cool Brand is worth the time and read.

Being a Digital Media Marketer myself, I found something really helpful to me in Page 199. Surprisingly, the book did not have any mention about Cashback sites which is playing a major role these days and found investors like Ratan TATA.

Page 216 talks about ease of returns in case of inordinate delay in delivery of goods. Amazon India has already implemented this rule which I have invoked it on few occasion.

The detailed study about SIA(Singapore Airlines) as to how they spend a lot in purchasing and upgrading their aircrafts on regular intervals and how it enables them to save on costs is a real useful information. Wish this was followed by some of the airlines in India which would have prevented from going into liquidation.

Last but not the least, do give more importance to Chapter 15 & 16 which talks about different business models and how you need to disrupt your business at regular intervals. I would highly recommend this book for those who are into business and for those who aspire to become an entrepreneur.

The tagline of the book, The New Rules Of Business, is "Get Ahead Or Get Left Behind" which stands absolutely true in the current context of the world where consumers seek more of experiences with a business than only buying a product or a service. How often do you see a company offering a complete experience which is not limited to the product, but pre-sales and even post-sales? Small gestures go a long way in a building a great brand affinity and thus word of mouth. The book in a nutshell speaks about this.

The author Rajesh Srivastava has divided the book in eight major categories which are Customer, Employee, Leadership, Brand, Workplace, Communication, Supply Chain and Business Strategy. Each of these sections is further detailed into important rules, the new rules of business that is book is about, that will help you stay ahead. Each of these rules are explained not only with how they are the need of the hour and game changer but also with highly relevant examples.

This is an extensively researched book. The author demonstrates his vast experience and in-depth understanding of businesses. He has provided enough references and presented very real relevant cases to drive the point home. The language is simple and the writing style is brilliant. It's more of stories of business. It's a must-read for future managers and business leaders.

We've a saying in India which goes like this, 'Atithi Devo Bhava,' the English transliteration of which means: The guest is god, prescribes a dynamic of the host–guest relationship which embodies the traditional Indian Hindu-Buddhist philosophy of revering guests with same respect as god. We've often believed in this philosophy since time immemorial & treated our customers in the same fashion. Hence, we hold them with utmost reverence. Similarly, the new fundamental rule of business is that employees have to be treated in the same way, if not better than customers. Because, happy employees make happy customers & they tend to be loyal.

Many businesses & companies spend copious amount of money on advertising their products or website or brands to create awareness. However, this book highlights the fact that it's not necessary. They're unnecessary expenses. We don't need to do that any longer. The new funda behind this scope is to make our product so good that it does it's own marketing in terms of organic promotions. Big giants like Amazon, Flipkart, Uber & Ola are discarding old rules & implementing new ones in their place.

This book uncovers the mysterious new ways of doing business which most of the above mentioned companies keep under wraps. With the help of various anecdotes, this book tries to be gripping while at the same time provides marvellous insights.

It's quite insightful, easy read to which can be finished quickly & acts as a guide to the corporate business world. An excellent opportunity to join the successful team based on illustrations which provide new rules to run businesses effectively. It has all the necessary relevant documents, information & realistic examples from both global & domestic brands which makes it quite compelling enough as a must-read for all aspirants of marketing & business.

The main interesting aspect of this book is that it makes the readers take notes which can act as a guidance or rather a guiding light for the distant future. The very idea that every organisation should focus on making the customer the central hemisphere is a must. Also, the leadership skills has been highlighted effectively.

There're total 16 rules, hence 16 chapters or parts of the book. The content is authentic & context is insightful. Thus, making it interactive, relevant & interesting. The author has taken inspiration from his own personal experience & life perspectives. It also shares a perfect combination of clarity of vision, innovative passion which is helpful not only for business people but also for students, managers & teachers who wish to make a change in this world. Language is good, simple, easy to read & understand. Narration is okay. A really good unbiased attempt to write a nonfiction story blended with real-life experience for business purposes. A good one-time read!

To start a business we need a plan. To make it successful, we need to make another plan. Amongst all these what remains unchanged is your customer. But is it so linear a task? Rajesh Srivastava, through his book The New Rules of Business tells us that taking is care of the customers is not always enough.

Author has a systematic methodoly to introduce the different and relevant thoughts in our mind. The author introduces us to '1 Central Question (1CQ) and with examples establishes how 1CQ was propituous in several successful business ventures citing the examples of Amazon, Facebook, Macdonald's and the likes. The readers would be surprised to read that the 1CQ of Steve Jobs was " Will it make Apple a great product for customers? If yes, Green Light it. If no, Junk it."
Author introduces several innovative ideas in developing your business and the way he tries to mould the new entrepreneur is enticing to read.

This book unfolds the mysteries of these new ways of doing business which most companies try to keep under wraps.

The systematic fashion with which the author has arranged each idea and illustrated them with real life examples is an example for the fact the he practices what he preaches. The tag line " Go Ahead or Get Left Behind" is the most apt one for the book. I am personally so carried away by the book that I got a vision to how I should go about the business venture that I have been mulling over for a considerable amount of time.

The book is recommended to everyone who is trying start a new business as well as expand the present one. It is also applicable in your daily life as well. Overall the book is cosmopolitan pointer to how to be a successful millenial.

The New Rules of Business: Get Ahead or left behind. True? Yeah, I agree with this line. In business or in life, we have to get ahead!

In this book, Rajesh Srivastava talks about marketing with personal experiences shared with the readers.

Do's and don'ts about business are talked-about very nicely & in a way that the reader would easily understand. The language is quite simple and the book is readable!

I mostly leave books on topics like these half-way or take long to read but this one was different. Author's personal experiences mentioned are what makes the book interesting & engaging.

Would recommend this to anyone who's new to business or already into it, you'll find some really good tips. My rating 3.8/5*

Just finished reading 'The new rules of business'. It is beautifully written in a language which is very simple and easy to understand. What I liked the most was the fact that the concepts were not presented just as theories but with the support of real world examples from the author's personal experiences as well as those of other organizations.
Also, it is heartening to know that the new rules of business are designed to make only good human beings win- ones who are considerate towards their consumers, customers and employees.
The later part of the book served as a ready reckoner of the biases that Daniel Kahneman elucidates in his work and how to be cognizant of them while making decisions.
I loved the last chapter about disrupting your own business model.
Definitely a great book for anyone curious about how the rules of business are have evolved and changed over the years.

The book is based on the talk show by the author who has worked across India fmcg and beverages. Many points in this made me think such as making customers your employees; transform into an admirable leader.and creating a supercool brand. A book to preserve and read but which could have been better with more actionable points for those at the front line/middle.managers. otherwise exceptionally well written and must buy
