Serenity had no idea that dragons existed. She knows she's weird, but she's pretty good at hiding the occasional incident of her hands catching fire. When she has the worst day of her life, though, she discovers that the world is not quite what it seems. Just like that, she's whisked away into a world of dragon shifters, and four in particular seem intent on her. Can she accept her place in this new world of dragons? Or will she break under the pressure?
Dragon Taken is a Reverse Harem Paranormal Romance.
1 star This was terrible. I don’t know who gave this book a good review but they must be delusional. This was the most stereo typical Rh ever, there was no flavor in any of the characters, and the main character acts like a child. This was just a glorified children’s book and I don’t recommend it at all.
Dragon Taken was one shallow ride and even my weak spot for dragon shifters couldn't help me look past the shortcomings when they were so glaringly obvious to interfere with the reading experience itself.
The start is so bumpy, there is barely any time to establish the FMC before meeting the guys who will be in the harem. I mean the book wants me to buy the fact that this chick just goes with a complete stranger who just happens to know she is adopted and sure he saved her from an attack which is very briefly shown but still a stranger, to some place she has no idea about and then once she is there, the chick runs off in a forest so damn unprepared on fucking socks and forgetting her phone. Dude what? I just couldn't understand the point of showing such messy scenes, it does nothing positive for Serenity but makes her look like a dumbass.
The rest of the book flows in this haze of rough draft that spends no time giving some personality to the main characters beyond the brief idea of stereotypes and the world building that needed so much more to get a sense of these dragon shifters on some freaking island that are plagued by rebels and hunters. None of this shit is landing any impact when the story doesn't give these elements the treatment it needs to be useful. Just mentioning something doesn't make it interesting or weighty.
For the reverse harem, I really didn't see any content beyond the bond. The guys' POVs are peppered throughout the book but it doesn't really help beyond establishing that they feel something for Serenity on the lines of insta connection. It's just too bland and bare minimum content to feel anything for the fallout between one of the guys and Serenity towards the end.
Talking about the end, it just succeeded in solidifying Serenity as a dumbass. The cliffhanger comes at the cost of making FMC look so stupid. I just can't.
I was lucky to receive and ARC for leaving an honest review but I will be purchasing this book when it comes out so I can continue to re-read!
This series is exactly what I needed. It sucked me in from the beginning and I wasn’t able to put it down until there was nothing left to read. It is that good!
The characters are wonderfully written. The plot has you laughing one moment and crying the next. It kind of has an instalove which I am not normally crazy about but after the reading the story it makes perfect sense so DO NOT write off the book just because instalove may not be your cup of tea.
Do yourself a favor and fall in love with this book, this series, and these characters. Well except Liam because he is mine ;)

I received a ARC for this to leave an honest review.
This is a great start to a new Series. She is a lost dragon princess who doesn’t know anything about her past. She was found in a forest when young and put into an orphanage and adopted out at a young age. She is now older. She was being hunted and she is found by four dragons to take back to there land. I can’t wait to see where her and the four handsome dragons go in book 2

I loved this book, really good plot about a lost dragon shifter princess who gets found by four hot dragon shifters that have different abilities and taken back to her mother the queen.
The book is well written with only a few typos that I could find. Its an easy storyline to follow, with great character development.
Looking forward to book two

Oh dear, this could have been something special but... it wasn't. The FMC was an annoying wimp, everyone of the guys, her family, her colleagues, her newly discovered mother just walked all over her. If having the adopted parents she had and then you meet your mother, a queen at that, who sent you away (not even making sure you were raised safely and mind she ended up with a cruel mum but it could have been much worse for all her queenly mother knew) and she says nothing to her nada, not a damn word. Then this supposedly loving mother has the audacity to start ordering her newly found daughter around, forget about getting to know her at least a little bit. This is all within a few minutes of meeting what is her only child for the first time since she shipped her off when she was a baby. I really was waiting for the FMC to slap her or at least tell her to go to hell but nope, she's a good little girl and goes to her princess room, aw that guess what was decorated in pinks, white and gold filigree. If the FMC has shown even the smaller amount of independence and grit especially against those making all the decisions I'd have tested it may have earned another star. But to top it off it all ends on the dreaded cliffhanger. So I'm done.
The story is intriguing but the execution is lacking. The story is soooo bare bones shallow that when one of the men declares his love, I screeched to a haunt and said um what? We have barely felt any emotions. Many things are told in a past tense or already have happened way. We don’t get to experience moments with Serenity and her possible mates. We don’t get a lot of how this world works either. We spend a lot of time on a boat traveling to the dragon stronghold or world or whatever but we don’t actually spend a long time there. We don’t get the depth wanted in the emotional feels. Don’t get me wrong there are said and explained emotions but none of which we actually live with the characters.
The story is unique but it falls flat when there’s lack of depth. I want to continue because naturally at the very last 5% something happened but I’m not going to. I’m not going to because of how quick this is going in terms of plot and again the lack of depth.
Oh and one other point I forgot to mention, she’s supposed to be like mid 20’s but she acts and sounds like a newly minted young adult or someone 17/18.
This book was very rushed, many of the chapters were only 2 pages long! As a result, the characters were not very developed and I did not feel connected to any of them. The concept was interesting, however, because of how rushed the book was, it became unbelievable.
Wow this book was fantastic. Serenity and her guys were entertaining and enjoyable. The interactions between Serenity and the guys was at times hilarious, interactions between the guys themselves was intriguing. The ending has a bit of a cliff but still a damn good story.
I enjoyed the world building but felt the story could have been a little smoother. It felt like the story was rushed on some places and stalled out in others. All in all I will be looking for book 2 just because I am curious as to what happens after that cliffhanger
The whole book was pretty much one event after another without much pause to develop characters and their relationships. The one part they did linger on to develop that aspect wasn’t really well done as they seemed to have just bonded to each other over nothing.
The male characters had some promise but the main character isn’t relatable past the first part and she continues to lose her worth through the story. She pretty much just accepted being kidnapped without question and didn’t really grow as a character.
I honestly gave up after 2 chapters, this is diabolically bad. In the first chapter 3 traumatic things happen, and the character is just like 'oh yeah, sure, makes sense, my life amirite?'
I wouldnt waste any more of my time on this drivel.
I was curious to read about a reverse harem book and I picked the wrong one to introduce me to the genre. I was not impressed. Serenity is a woman who came off to me as whiny. She is described as a typical blonde bombshell who shares an NYC apartment with I believe 3 other roommates. She complains that she does not even have an actual room and that her 'room' is actually a closet. This is very typical for NYC since some NYC apartments have large closets that can be converted into small rooms. She is sent over the edge when she finds out that her parents bought her brother a condo. When she calls her mother to complain about it, her mother just so happens to reveal to her that she is actually adopted. She considers how her father was always kind to her but her mother never was. That same day she goes to work and subsequently gets fired after not accepting her boss advances towards her. Dejected she walks home and on her way she is almost killed/kidnapped. She gets saved by some random handsome stranger. He convinces her to go with him because her life is in danger and she believes him because he mentions her birth parents. With complete disregard to those that care about her she leaves with him and meets 3 other men. She then embarks on a journey to find her origins and her destiny.
Throughout the book she constantly mentions her Father and her roommate Jenna and how they are probably worried sick about her. She never bothers to pick up the phone and call them though. She is too busy trying to figure out which boy toy she should play with next. I understand that this book is an NSFW RH. It is not about the responsibility that the heroine has to those that helped and were there for her before she met her mates. However, it would have been nice if she was atleast mildly considerate of them. The only thing I liked about this book was how the book was framed. The PoV changes from chapter to chapter. Other then that it was a waste of my time.

This is a nice enough read. I think some things could've been better developed, like the strained relationship Serenity had with her mother--it was just stated matter-of-factly but it didn't seem to have a real impact on her. Though this is mostly told from Serenity's POV, it seems like the dragons are actually better developed than the MC. Then again, the author might have done this on purpose, so it's easier for the reader to step into the heroine's shoes. It's not uncommon and it's not necessarily bad, but it's just not something I personally like all that much.
I really liked the dragons; they each brought their own unique personality to the table.
The feelings between the five MC's happened at break-neck speed and even though that is explained by their bond, I would've liked a little bit more development.
There's one steamy scene with one of the heroes in the book; I would rate this as a medium heat-level story; it's definitely clear what's going on, but it's nothing too kinky.
It ends with a cliffhanger.
Overall, I enjoyed this well enough to pick up more from this reader.
I really enjoyed this book. At first it was a little hard for me to get into it but once Serenity met the other dragons and started to interact with her men it got a lot better. I enjoyed her interactions with the other dragons and getting to learn about them and their powers. The males are each very different and yet they all care about Serenity and show it in their own way. There was a bit of the insta lust but it makes sense with what happened and how they are connected. I liked the tidbits you got about the dragons and their culture I want to learn more about this world and its politics along with how the magic works. I hope to see more interactions between serenity and her dragon family along with some of the other side characters. Though that ending is such a cliffhanger I need the next book and I hope certain people get their heads out of their asses and stop being stupid. It was a very good book I eagerly await the next one.
I received this book as an ARC to give an honest opinion and review once I was finished reading.
This book exceeded ALL of my expectations! I was currently reading another RH book but it was literally taking me days to finish the last 1 1/2 hr of it (still not finished as of 01/26). Dragon Taken SAVED my sanity! I had the flu this day and still read the whole thing in one day! I didn’t want to put it down! It is so easy to read and flows so well. The editing is well done with only 4 typos throughout the whole book that I could find. The storyline is fascinating, creative and kept me engaged and wanting more. The character development has a good flow to it, divulging bits and pieces throughout the story without withholding too much or giving too much away too soon. It leaves you burning for more. Cant wait for the next book to be released as this will be one I will love to purchase for my collection. Great job, Alexis!
I received an ARC to leave my honest review once I finished reading this book.
This book is the first in a new series. It is draws you in from the first chapter and keeps you wanting more. The main character has the worst day of her life! This includes being fired, finding out she is adopted, and to top it off she has people trying to kidnap her. She is saved by 4 sexy men that she finds out are dragons. Maybe her questions will be answered about strange things that have happened to her while she was growing up. This book is an amazing roller coaster of emotions and events. It keeps you on the edge of your seat and waiting for what will happen next. I can’t wait for the next book! Thanks Alexis
From the moment I read the first chapter I just couldn’t put it down! Absolutely loved it! I love how the story progresses and the characters. My only problem is the flip flopping of the lead. She feels like a strong lead one moment, but then low self esteem the next. I’m sure she’ll gain strength as the series progresses, I just hope sooner than later. And Dylan I loved his carefree attitude but didn’t like how he also flipped. Left me sad for these characters. Also that cliffhanger ending, I can’t wait t read the next book to find out exactly what Serenity’s power truly is.
I honestly was jarred into this story from the beginning. By that I mean, nearly right at the start of the book we have our fmc encounter suspicious danger and find her first guy. It was choppy to me because we are having action and fated mates in our face before we even know anything about the FMC. It just made it hard for me to become attached. It was nice that there was some time spent between Serenity and her fellas before more danger/adventure began. The answers are slow which is irritating but I'm interested enough to read book 2.
I do enjoy reverse harem romances. I also love dragons so this series has piqued my interest. Serenity is an unwanted daughter and her story is pretty sad. I think it would have been good to get more of her background so hopefully there will be better clarification in the other books. The dragon mates that she is bonded with don't have an insta-love relationship, exactly, but they all seem to connect rather easily. Except for Matthew. That one doesn't make any sense and hopefully that is resolved in the next book.
This is a decent book for the first in a series. Some parts of the book were choppy and could've been either more fully fleshed out or made more cohesive. Since of the interactions between characters were confusing to some extent, looks that didn't make sense or weren't fully explained, etc but for the most part, the story was a quick, interesting read that I plan to continue.
Fun story and fairly well developed characters. Mostly a really good pace but sometimes bogs down. Nice ending to this 1st book. Will definitely buy the 2nd one and likely the rest in the series. Looking forward to Serenity finding out what her powers will be and then how she will use them for the forces of good. Thanks Alexis and BTW Alexis is a absolutely beautiful woman's name.
Good start to a new series. I haven’t had many RH or fantasy books keep my attention through the entire series lately. Have some hope for this one. I like the plot so far and serenity. I also like that she is not your new norm “I’m too tough for everything” h. It gets old. Not so sure about the guys yet.
I couldn't finish. The book and characters act like teenagers led by crazy emotions to the point it just doesn't make sense. Nothing flows or feels logical in their interactions other than to be dramatic for the sake of drama. Everything is one dimensional, everyone is rich and she is a lost princess. I just can't
There’s just so much that doesn’t make sense. Poor editing, poor plot, poor character building, no world building, poor character interactions, a lot of tell instead of show. We just don’t really care about anyone or any of their relationships because we aren’t given a reason to. The fl is constantly made to look dumb.
🐉🐉🐉 DRAGONS AND BETRAYAL OF FAMILY MEMBERS WHO ARE NOT FULL OF SURPRISES!😍 I DO RECOMMEND THIS AUTHOR AND BOOK!😍LOVE 💘 AND LOTS OF SEXUAL SITUATIONS ABOUND!😍. DRAGONS OF THE FEMALE SEX WITH MULTIPLE MALE MATES!😍 GO AHEAD AND BUY THIS BOOK NOW!😍😊😀😀😀😀
A lot of books nowadays are just a few chapters long. While they are a good read, they are not long enough to be a book. But too long to be a short story. I loved the story but find I am getting frustrated having to obtain several book, of several chapters to get a complete book.
