When she wakes up in the MacClaren Keep, hundreds of years in the past, Bethany not only finds what she was searching for but becomes embroiled in an ancient curse and brand-new feud.
Bethany’s search for her sister Delilah leads her to the ancient MacClaren Keep. When she falls asleep in the ruins, the last thing she expects is to awake in the past with her sister standing over her. Overjoyed at finding Delilah, Bethany is soon discovers the world isn’t as simple as she believed it to be. With new knowledge of ancient magic and curses, she must face the fact that the MacClarens are under attack and this isn’t the type of war her military skills trained her for.
Graham hates the MacClarens, and not only because they caused the deaths of his witch-hunting allies. He knows his father was an exiled member of the clan, and he seeks to avenge the father he never knew and destroy the family who made him an orphan. But when he catches a beautiful woman at sword-point and looks into the eyes of the love he lost two years ago, he realizes the keep’s magic that brought her back to him only exists because he’s a MacClaren-the very people he’s there to destroy.
Torn between his need for revenge and his feelings for Bethany, Graham must choose a side and join in the fight for his life…and Bethany’s.

Only a chapter in and already there is a discrepancy. In the previous book Delilah had a brother named Sam. In this book she now has a sister, Bethany and a brother named Michael... The story line for this series is entertaining, but the grammer, punctuation, and errors in the back stories of the characters is distracting. I almost stopped reading this book after the first chapter because of all the discrepancies throughout the series, and here was one more, but I figured it's part of the series so I might as well finish it. Thankfully the grammer and punctuation has improved, now if only the author could remember what she wrote in the previous novels this would be one hell of a series!
I have read Rebecca Preston for years now, and I'm always unsure of what I'm going to get with her stories. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised by this one. It might be my favorite one of hers, which surprises me. For one thing, I've always had issues with her grammar, punctuation, and usage. That seems to have improved in the last couple of books that I've read in this series (although there is an excessive use of ellipses and dashes, sometimes in the same sentence). Some sentences and paragraphs are overlong. But compared to before, it is so much better.
But what I really liked in this story was the heroine. In modern times, she is career Army, but she goes AWOL when she was not granted leave when her sister went missing. She travels from France to Scotland to get to the bottom of things, and when she goes to the same ruins that she knows her sister last went to before her disappearance, she goes back in time. She meets her sister in short order, and both are delighted at the reunion. But one interesting quirk is that while Delilah, the sister, has been missing in modern times for a week—in the past, a year and a half has gone by. So our heroine not only finds that her sister is married now, but the heroine is now an aunt. But things quickly heat up as the castle is under siege. A part of that crew is someone determined to avenge his family's honor, our hero. In another twist that happens in this series, our heroine happens to look like this man’s dead wife. Even with her military background, she finds warfare in medieval Scotland a challenge, but she is determined to use her military skills to help. I liked that the heroine is strong and smart, and she remains so even when thrust back into the past. I wasn't sure if I was going to pick this book up because I have been disappointed by so many of this author's books before, but I am so glad I keep giving her chances, as this was an enjoyable read.
I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.
I've read every one of the Scottish Time Travel Series by Rebecca Preston and have enjoyed them all. Each couple has a unique dynamic. While the men all share a common tragedy, it's the women and their strength and passion that draw these couples together. Graham and Bethany's story has them pulled together with the same circumstance, but they're chemistry draws them to connect. Graham is really resentful, but very confused by what he's been told by his mother, who he chooses to follow, and his feelings for Bethany. She is conflicted as well. How they work through that, help save the MacClaren Keep, and find their HEA is a well paced read. I would like more from the man's POV in future books, how they work through the situation. Overall a solid read.

ONE SPECTACULAR EXPERIENCE!!! Holy hell! Rebecca just my number and rang my bell and blew me out of the water with this impressive treat, wielding this bad boy together sleek, shiny and tight. Satisfaction is an understatement, this baby comes packing a punch that'll bring you to your knees, keeping you riveted on a razors edge. Maneuvering through terrifying trials and torrid tribulations, noting the shocking twists and wicked turns, testing our characters in ways they could have never envisioned. A tumultuous wild ride with a slew of fervent events and unpredictable circumstances, blasts those swirling emotions into play, blasting this jewel to life beautifully. Anarchy, escapades and havoc run amuck, kicking this bad boy into a roaring tempest, catapulting it into a tailspin with an explosive culmination. Twixt, twinned and interwoven, exposing the heart pounding ups and gut wretching downs, propel this bad boy to staggering heights. Rousting the drama, intrigue, tension, turmoil, danger, odious deeds, mounting suspense and nerve racking situations along with a boatload of sinister intentions while dodging bedlem, you have one mind-blowing masterpiece. The characters are complex and authentic with depth and traits that blend and flow, transforming into genuinely relatable personalities. The scenes are strikingly sharp with abundant details and descriptions you have no problem picturing each scenario creating a colorful backdrop that makes the storyline pop. Remarkable job Rebecca, thanks for sharing this little gem with us.
When Bethany's commanding officer refused to grant her an emergency leave to search for her missing sister, she decided to go AWOL and traced Delilah (the sister's) steps. She tracked her sister to Scotland where she had been studying some ancient ruins and found her way there. She falls asleep and when she wakes her sister who has been missing about a week is there. But that's the only thing she recognizes. She wakes to find she is in the past and her sister has been there for over a year. The McClaren Keep however is under attack and it's a war unlike anything Bethany has fought before.
Graham is fighting against the McClaren's but when he meets Bethany at swordpoint, and she's the image of the woman he lost 2 years ago, he knows she is there only there because of the McClarens.
I loved Bethany. She was strong and smart. She was in military intelligence and didn't go suddenly 'dumb' when she found herself in another place and time. Graham was a strong hero and didn't disbelieve, even though it seemed impossible. Fast paced read with tons of adventure, likable characters and a good storyline.
If the curse is broken how come another woman has gone back in time to Castle MacClaran? Bethany deserts the US army in order to go to Scotland to find her missing sister Delilah. When she gets there she goes to the ruins that her sister was interested in, falls asleep, and wakes up in fifteenth century Scotland and there is her sister. A sister that instead of being missing for six days has been back in the past for a year and a half, is married and has a baby. Now Bethany has to learn to live in this new time. When the witch hunters lay a siege against the castle will she be able to use her army training to help? And what about the mercenary Graham? She is Graham’s re-incarnated dead wife. He has been afraid of witches and hunting them for years. Can she get him to understand the women who have gone back in time are just that. Time travlers and not witches. Wow! I loved this book! Rebecca Preston is a relatively new author to me but after this I Sam so looking forward to reading everything she’s written. If you’re a fan of time travel, romance and adventure this is the book for you!
This is an action packed story with a dynamic plot that keeps you mesmerized from the start. The characters are well written, well developed and interesting. Our heroine is a strong young woman with a sense of family. Our hero is a man who’s lived with tragedy and bent on revenge. The chemistry between these two is simply amazing. You find yourself engrossed in their outcome and rooting for them all the way.
The authors use of imagery is absolutely amazing and the dialogue is wonderful. Rebecca did such an amazing job with this entire story filled with turmoil, intrigue, adventure, drama and passion. I can’t wait to go back and read them all from the beginning!
Thank you Rebecca for such a wonderful, exciting and well written love story.
Whew!!! If you love action and adventure, if you love time travel romances, you will absolutely love this book. I could not put the book down. When I began reading, I knew I would not be satisfied until I got to the end. This is so well written the author, Rebecca Preston, really outdid herself. The story was exciting, energetic, invigorating and powerful. There was no way one could not relate and feel the emotions and thoughts the characters had. The characters had dynamic personalities. Even those villainous characters were described in detail as to their facial expressions and attitudes. The imagery the author created was just not about the clothes or the landscape; it was more than that. The characters were alive and animated. Just amazing! This is a must read. You will not be disappointed.
The adventure of “Highlander Avenged” begins when Bethany travels to Scotland to search for her missing sister, Delilah. She investigates the last place her sister was seen and wakes up in another time. Bethany finds herself in the past - with magic, in the midst of a war and with a man who thinks she is his beloved wife. From there on she’ll need her military training and instincts to figure out how to survive, save a village and maybe find love in this new world. The plot and characters are richly represented, the pace is non-stop, the dialogue is smart, and the parts come together in a way that makes sense. This is the first book I’ve read in this series and it’s so intriguing I have to read the others!

This is another wonderful story in the Highlander in Time series and it was just as entertaining as the others. This time it's Delilah's (from book 6) sister Bethany who travels back in time and finds herself at the MacClaren castle. I really liked Bethany's character, a strong heroine who doesn't shy away from danger.
With the story being written with just the heroine's thoughts, I find we lose a bit of understanding the hero's character and to me, that's what happened with Graham, I just couldn't get into him, he felt like a secondary character. With that being said, it was still a good story with lots of action, danger and magic!

Bethany Cortland needed to find her sister no matter what and when the past claimed her taking her to the MacClaran lands, she was eager to use her skills. There she would fulfill her destiny as did the other time-travel women who were bond to the MacClaran clan men. Interesting Bethany and Graham’s difficult situation. Her struggle with her feelings, her emotions and what would be the right path to follow. Liked the adventure, the strong characters, the suspense, the magic, the strong emotions, the romance and the interesting plot development that had me enjoying the action. Also, liked Baldric’s character, that could keep a level head and be loyal when needed and I chuckled with Lord Weatherby’s foolishness.
Different family members from prior book about Delilah and Gavin
In the previous book Delilah had a brother named Samuel but no sister was mentioned in this book she suddenly has a brother named Michael and a sister named Bethany and Samuels never mentioned You can't just create new family members for someone unless they're babies in a series of books. You can't just make them up out of thin air. I'm very disappointed the author chose to do this. I did enjoy book despite this flaw. The author clearly wanted to extend the series but rather than doing it with a different character that was maybe a friend or coworker of Delilah she created sister that didn't even exist in the prior book.
This 7th book in the Highlander of Time series is a very well-written time travel romance story with wonderful characters that are very cautious. There is drama, intrigue, tension, turmoil, danger, and she looks like his lost love and that cause issues for these characters. This story has action, adventure, betrayal, twists/turns, chemistry and love with a HEA that must be worked for. These characters have wonderful personalities that are brought alive by this great Author who I will be reading more books by.

I like this author and have read several of her books in addition to this series. I am not one of those readers who get upset with typos and such, I just keep reading along. But the mixup of characters in this book is so disappointing I just can’t continue to read. In Book 6 of this series, Delilah Cortland had one sibling, a brother named Sam. Then you start Book 7 of the series and it is about Delilah’s sister Bethany (she didn’t have a sister according to Book 6). It mentions Delilah’s brother in Book 7 but now his name is Michael instead of Sam. I just couldn’t go on. If this kind of thing doesn’t bother you then I am sure you will enjoy the book.
Honestly, how many women have to go through before they realize that they HAVE to take all 21st century articlfacts from the newcomer so that idiot woman doesn't get blasted as a witch because of them. A cell phone and a gun? Honestly? And why isn't the old guard telling the new girls "Hey keep a low profile and your obvious 21st century knowledge and stuff to yourself or someone is going to try and kill you for being a witch"? Forwarded is forearmed and whatnot. It is frustrating how many issues could have been prevented with these actions and very specific warning. Especially since it's not just the life of the new girl on the line, but every woman who came before her as well.
Book seven of the Highlander In Time series a well written story that kept me turning pages. Bethany Cortland goes looking for her sister Delilah and falls asleep at the ruins of the castle where Delilah went missing. She wakes up in the past but she has found her sister. She meets Graham who has just come to realize he is a MacClaren the people he hates. I enjoyed seeing this story come together, there is suspense, drama, danger, magic, time travel, war, evil, and romance. I want to read the next book. Bethany was in the military when her sister came up missing. She was denied leave so she left on her own to go find her. Delilah was last seen in a small town in Scotland, so that’s where Bethany went. Then she was taken to the past. She ended up finding her sister and embarked on an exciting adventure as she used her military training to help the castle they were in as they fought against a formidable enemy. She also found love with an unimaginable man. Good read

Overall, this is a good story. But, since this is a series, the author needs a chart of which characters are which in the prior books. In the book before this one, Delilah had a brother names Sam not Mike, and no sister. Margaret was the headwoman in the beginning of the series but not the previous two books, and now she’s again the headwoman. It get confusing to follow so I strongly suggest that the author gets her shit together. She still mixes up pronouns and run on sentences are still a problem. However, despite these issues she writes a good story.
These stories just keep getting better and better. In this one, two deserters find redemption as witch hunters try to destroy the MacClaran clan. My heart was pumping and I found myself holding my breath during certain parts of the book, chuckling at others and rejoicing when the calvalry arrived. It is a fast-paced matter-of-fact story that is not to be missed!

I do believe that this is the best book out of the whole series even though I loved the others and this is Bethany’s and Graham’s story but I’m not going to give any spoilers because the blurb really says it all, there’s action, adventure, time travel, suspense, danger, drama, passion and so much more to keep you entertained and turning the pages. I loved this story and I definitely recommend this book.
Two sisters finding each other through time travel
I loved how two sisters found each other by traveling back in time from the twenty first century . There is always a way the story keeps you interested in discovering how the time travelers are related and why they have been brought back in time to replace another woman who they look exactly like. I couldn't wait to finish the book. On to the next one.
I thought that this was a very good read. Expect lots of emotional turmoil as Bethany and Graham's story unfolds. The story itself is filled with drama, tension, intense emotions, excitement, adventure, action, danger and romance. This is another fun entry in this very entertaining and engaging time travel series. This is my frank, freely posted review.
I enjoyed the story, however I found several inconsistencies. Some characters were mixed up and some characters were barely mentioned in this continual set. You never provided children born to Donal or William. In fact William, Ian, and Colin did not make an appearance in this novel yet two of them were past Lairds so they should have been involved in
Bethany visited the ruins of MacClaran castle and went to the past where the castle was whole. Witch hunters were after the castle with a witch helping. Bethany was captured and met Graham. They fell in love and Graham went to the castle and helped fight the witch hunters but it was Bethany that shot the witch.
I really enjoyed this new addition to a fun series. Bethany and Graham's story is just as poignant and touching as the other couples. The witch hunters add a sombre touch to even the balance a little. Packed with drama, emotions and suspense this is a fun read.
ARC review For honest review. Bethany Cortland is in the military when her sister goes missing in Scotland and she goes to find her at the castle mcclaran she is sent back in time herself. Now she find out the truth of what is happening. Awesome story
Loved this action packed and magical journey through time. Was a great read from beginning to end. Really enjoyed the interesting and engaging charters, witty dialog, heart racing danger, exciting twists and undeniable passion.
This is the first book I've read by this author, but it won't be the last. This was an entertaining story with good characters. I'm looking forward to more by this author.
