Mallery Malone is the author of contemporary and historical romance of all heat levels. An avid reader, she loves to discover new worlds and characters that strike a deep emotional connection.
Mallery lives on the outskirts of Atlanta with her guitar hero husband, several cannibal fish, and two standard poodles who think they are lapdogs. When not working the day job, she spends her time hanging out with friends, people watching, and working on her next writing project.
Her current work is the upcoming Billionaire’s Club: New Orleans. The Billionaire’s Club: New Orleans novellas, by Mallery Malone, are steamy contemporary romance stories centered around the Billionaire’s Club: The wealthiest, most powerful men in New Orleans. They are used to having whatever they want, whenever they want it.
This book had an interesting and fun premise and I enjoyed being in a different historical era but it was a little bit too long. There was to much back and forth in the hero’s head about how he can’t just tell the heroine he loves her because what if she doesn’t love him, how mortifying that would be for him. Connor definitely suffers from asshole syndrome at times especially towards the end and doesn’t grovel merely enough IMO. I appreciated that he does actually grovel it just wasn’t enough in my opinion.

I really wanted to like this book - Viking romance written in the 21st century?! Sign me up. Unfortunately, it didn't work for me.
I still think really cool feminist medieval Viking romance could be written - especially given all of the newish evidence that women were active part of Norse raiding parties - but this one wasn't it for me.
It's been a long time since I read a medieval romance. somehow, medieval romance immediately conjures up Old Skool romance vibes as this book did, though not in a rapey way. Conor is an Irish chieftain and a warrior. Erika is a Viking who has fought and killed and avenged for much of her life. Together, they have a rocky introduction which turns into a rocky relationship then marriage.
I'm always up for some cross-cultural romance and this book delivered that. Part of what made this book feel old school were the Devil and Angel imagery, the kidnapping and imprisonment, and the manipulative machinations of the villain.
I was really excited to read this one. Two warriors coming together during battle and falling in love. Dark moody boy and brave battle hardened girl. Instead it turned into a book about an emotionally abusive man with ptsd and an overly-loyal woman who needs to learn to walk away from an unhealthy relationship. The writing and premise were enjoyable but the plot was repetitive.
Stumbled across this author and decided to give this book a chance. I was not disappointed! I read hundreds of books a year and this one was refreshing. I'll be following this author from now on.
