Sometimes, we do unforgivable things… just to survive.
Who — or what — I am is a mystery, where I came from an enigma. All I know is I fell from the sky.
In this strange land, only a select few females exist, one per thousands upon thousands of males — including the male who fell right alongside me.
He’s different, though…
My Fallen companion may hold the key to unlocking the long lost memories trapped in the recesses of my mind, or maybe he is the reason I want to forget. One thing is for certain: I’m determined to find out.
In this beautifully dangerous land, full of sin and submission, men are mine for the taking, and mortals are my prey.
Problem is, I’m not sure I’m cut out for the dark and twisted role this place demands.
Adell Ryan is a hubby/wife pseudonym. Adell writes unconventional love stories about fierce women and their numerous male suitors. Because let's be honest, we need more than one to satisfy our multi-dimensional needs. Right? Ryan simply puts up with Adell's crazy fantasies and toots her horn regularly. Occasionally he'll add in a shoulder pat, and a deep, sexy "Damn that's good stuff."
That southern boy (bless him) stole this northern girl's heart and they live together in the deep south, raising their three boys. When Adell isn't writing she's homeschooling — primarily working on dictation, making sure they say 'creek' instead of 'crick' and 'fire' instead of 'fer.' She also dabbles in photography and graphic design. Oh yeah, and reading. Every. Night. Much to Ryan's dismay. Sometimes she puts the steamy stuff down and gives him a quick kiss on the forehead though.
Very very Jesusy. And by which I mean religious. In a greek orthodox kind of way? Also everyone is naked. All the time. I'm so confused. Not for me lol
First things first, read the trigger warnings if you have triggers. I don't so I didn't have any problems with this book. But they are there for a reason. Second, there is a list of definitions in the beginning of the book. Here's a little trick I did. Highlight each definition. Then when you come across a word that you need to look up, you can just click on your notes on the top of your screen. That way you aren't having to skip all the way back to the front of the book.
The Fall is different than anything I've read which is always a good thing. Adrestia has fallen into a strange new place with no memories of her former life. When she wakes up, there is a male that has fallen as well. When she is around him, she gets flickers of memories but nothing solid seems to stick. When he's pulled away from her she is determined to find him and unravel the secrets. Lucky for Andrestia, she has a couple guides/teachers to help her find her place in this new world. Even they can't seem to grip what she is and why she is so different. A new female fallen is unheard of. The things she can do are breaking all the rules.
Now as Adrestia is learning all about this new world, we are learning as well. That helps to keep the flow going and make the world building smooth. There is so much to learn about this place and the people. I really enjoyed how it was framed so we picked it up right along with her. I want to talk about the guys that are in her life but as she is still working out who that will be I don't want to spoil anything. I have the ones I am really pulling for though. I think you will as well. You can't help but just open your heart to them.
This book pulled me in from the get go. There was so much suspense and always something new happening. Never a dull moment for sure. And yes we do get some sexy times. That one scene....oh man. Super hot. Now that ending, like holy cow. What the hell. Don't get scared, it's not all leaving us left hanging on the edge. It's just a great set up for what is to come and the suspense we have had through the whole book continues, leaving us craving more!
Adrestia has a lot to learn in this different and interesting reverse harem adventure. She ‘falls’ into a new reality knowing virtually nothing, not even who she is. She meets men (of a sort) that she learns to like very much, but are they the men for her? Many unique words are used in this book and it is a little bit of a challenge to learn them and follow along with their meanings. I had to bookmark the part at the front where the definitions are so that I could easily flip back and forth to look things up. It definitely added to the setting of the book.
Well written, great chemistry, unique and unusual setting and plotting, interesting characters – I’m sure they’ll all fit together at some point. Not as dark as I expected from the warnings. The ending....isn't a cliffhanger exactly, but definitely is leading directly into book 2.
OHMYGODS, that ending was crazy epic!!! I simultaneously cheered and threw a arrrggghhhh the authors way. Seriously, I need book two right now!
This book sucked me in and did not want to let go when real life interfered. It was an amazing and original story that kept you engaged the whole way through. The characters was beautifully complicated and the story flowed like a twisting river. This author keeps surprising me with her imagination and creative way of telling a story.
I highly recommend that you one-click this amazing book!!!
The Fall is a unique suspense filled reverse harem read that keeps you guessing. The author captures your attention as this "world" is explained and the roles of the characters are "taught". The intrigue of the situation will keep you reading and the tabooness of the world will leave you wanting more. Can't wait to find out what happens next. Read to find out what happens to the Fallen and what they do to survive.
I have to admit that it took me a little while to get into this book, but once I did, I really enjoyed the characters and the story. It is an interesting twist on the idea of fallen angels and a world in which they can live and how they live. The idea of feeding on sins as a way to live is interesting and one that I have not come across in all the books that I have read with fallen angel characters. The characters are interesting and engaging, but I have a lot of questions that I hope will be answered in the next books in the series. I am curious as to where the next book will take me.
This is such a unique take on good/evil. The FMC is a strong character but with a soft and curious side. Her harem is is well rounded and still adding on! The world building was amazing! I couldn't read fast enough! Look out for that ending though! I wanted to throw my book and hold it tight at the same time lol.
I was a little hesitant to read this book. I am so happy that I did the characters are fantabulous. It's so much different then her other series. I literally couldn't put it down.
I just finished this book and loved it. The book will a to both men and women as fast paced and characters are well though of. Enjoy the read as it is amazing
I absolutely got caught up in this book from the first page. I couldn’t put it down! Adrestia is an anomaly fallen to earth, and must figure out who impacts her and why pretty quickly. The ending is a cliffhanger, which is usually a turnoff for me, but I found myself excited to see where this goes!
I did struggle to keep up as I kept having to go back to the start and look up the definitions. I eventually just wrote them down like homework, and that really helped! Until I did, it was a lot of action and confusion. I had to read some passages a few times to fully understand who was where.
Overall, I’m pumped about The Fall and ready for more!
For the good stuff, this story was extremely unique and creative that I had to give it an extra star on those points alone. With that being said, I really thought this book deserved 2 stars. Even though the creativity, uniqueness, and world building were on point, the story just felt drug out, very wordy, and at points boring. I get the need for world building, but "teaching" the info instead of living it makes me zone out and everything becomes "blah, blah, blah". Had to skim over those parts. There were also parts that just weren't my taste, but that's just me so I don't hold that against the author. Because of the world building info overload, just cudnt get into the book like I wanted and the way the story deserves. But, the uniqueness of this book gives me hope that the next one will wake up. I get it's the first of a series so a lot of it needs to explain the world and "rules" so hoping the next will bring me into the story. I still feel this book is a must read, but just prepare for it to go slowly and try to remember this one is the first and the complex world building is going to be a majority of this book. Now that we got the universe info, bring on the good stuff!
What can I say? I am a massive Adell fan, and this book only added to my obsession. I love her writing style, and the characters are always so rich with detail. I'm half in love with Brax, Kallias, and Raener. I can't wait to see what happens with Blaze. And Oryn, how is he going to handle all of his responsibilities now? Oh and Kirian! I need that back story so bad. Her words had me flipping the pages on my kindle faster than a Daimonion could leap (you'll get the reference when you read the book ;) ).
And Drea... well, she's head strong, intelligent, empathetic, and kind. She does give the guys a run for their money, breaks the rules, and makes decisions that will affect all of Ceteris - all while looking beautiful the entire time. I especially love that Drea is a POC, and whilst it isn't written heavily into the book, the little indicators and one scene in particular with Kallias, make it evident. There aren't too many RH stories with POC as the MC, and I feel that this one was written beautifully.
When first starting this book, I struggled getting through the first half. Terms used throughout the book honestly had me frustrated because I had to keep looking back to the glossary to see what they meant. Some of the information given to understand what was going on had me confused at times as well and I had to reread parts to try and grasp what they were talking about. The story is different than anything I’ve read before but I love the concept and the fact that it is different. Once I got towards the end, I got use to the terms without having to refer back to the definitions and it grew more exciting. You were left wondering who would be one of her chosen and if certain things would work out in her favor. I’ll definitely be waiting for the next book to see what happens given that ending!
Really feel into this world and storyline Adell created. I will say I didnt connect with the MC right away but it didnt take long for me to be wholeheartedly invested. I loved the twist on some classic tropes and cannot wait for more by her. I loved the tension and steam, but also the suspense of it all! I am excited to see where Adell takes us on this journey. Be forewarned, there are trigger warnings, so if something bothers you, make sure to read those first. I think the only reason I couldn't give this 5 stars was the dictionary necessity. Don't get me wrong, I am fine with the concept of it all, but I didnt have a good way to navigate back and forth so I just kinda guessed and moved on. Sometimes it took me out of the story to go back and have to find the word.
4.5/5 Stars and Definitely Recommend this new series by Adell Ryan!! When is book 2 coming already?!?!
Normally I would be annoyed by the amount of world building I read in The Fall but Adell Ryan did it SO well and this is a highly complex world, Ceteris which exists alongside our world. The mythology and terminology was well incorporated into the plot line and I never felt like I was just getting a language lesson.
The characters are fabulous as well, each distinct and well formed. Andrestia is my favorite followed by Raener, I love a stubborn male. Each time she adds a déō doúlos (bonded Blood slave) is super hot kudos on scenes that fun to read.
I can’t wait to read more about Andrestia, Raener, Onyx, Blaze, and Brax. If you like reverse harems and Michelle Sagara’s Chronicles of Elantra series this book is right up your alley.

Hmmm. I liked this book enough to NOT drop it, but I don't know that I'll be looking for book two. Based on the last bit of this book's description, I was expecting some D/s action with the woman on the dominating side. Now, it's not a deal-breaker that that isn't what happened, but the instance of dubious/non-consent kind of was. Not to mention the fact that not following certain 'orders' were met with physical punishment. (Not from the actual characters, but still.) It was off-putting.
Another of my problems with this book, is that so many things were crammed into it. Adell Ryan created a whole different world here, complete with foreign terminology. A LOT of things are thrown at the reader. A good amount of male characters are introduced as well, and I personally feel as if their relationships with the main character could have been more developed.
I wasn’t sure if I would like this one at first as I have a personal dislike for memory/amnesia plot lines and I wasn’t connecting with the story in the beginning but the more I read the more I got into the very unique storyline (especially unique in the realm of reverse harems) and interesting aspects of the world. The story lends itself to a fast burn in the physical sense, though I didn’t feel much in the way of emotional attachment between Adrestia and any of her potential harem (we aren’t positive yet about the identity of all of the harem members). The characters I found the most interesting were Raener and Blake, so I am looking forward to more of them in the next book. 3.5 ⭐️
Beautifully written, absolutely original and creative
Mysterious and intense, this story is full of emotion, and confusion. I adore these characters and cannot wait to get to know them better. Reading this was a fantastic and wild ride. I started out intrigued and confused and as the story progressed I became completely enthralled with the world that Adell created. The whole concept from start to finish is completely original, and had me engrossed the whole way through. The characters stole my heart so quickly, with their emotions and vulnerability laid out in their sleeves. Again I absolutely loved this read and commit wait to get a hold of book two!
The premise I found to be very creative. I was thrown by all of the words used for the “job titles” in the story. Reverse harem is not my regular wheel house as far as my reading goes. The relationships (not focusing on just the sex) is what intrigues me. I was not as pulled into the story at first, but as I started following what was required, I became interested. I felt it ended too abruptly (though that may have been intended). I think I would like to read the next one!

The first thing, all of the characters are running around naked all the time. There is no mention of clothes whatsoever. Everything had a dream quality I kept thinking and now she will wake up but he didn't, so the whole story was quite unpredictable. From the beginning, the reader is swamped with a myriad of unfamiliar terms gotten from the greek mythology/ language I take it? I felt incredibly confused all the more because all those weird labels were not necessary, call a warrior a warrior for god sakes.
I have received a ARC for this book. For me it was little confusing at first but as the story proceeds it became clear. For me a good is the one where you don't even realise that you are reading a book and you become a part of the book and this book has done that for me . I don't even realise when the book is finished. This book is different but is really good I loved it. can't wait for next book.
The Fall was just what I needed! I love Drea’s character so much. She doesn’t remember much and isn’t knowledgeable about the world she’s in... but she doesn’t let that slow her down. She’s a quick study and strong willed.
The relationship she has with each of her guys is awesome too, we’ll developed to the point, I’m not sure who my favorite is!
The Fall is very different from anything I've read recently, maybe ever. The classes of people are difficult to learn and keep track of, but the book was very interesting. This book is definitely not a casual read, you need to be very focused while reading it. I recommend this book and am looking forward to reading the next in the series.

Hmm, let's see. Character development, and world building sere great. The glossary of terms was absolutely necessary, but trying to read this book in ebook format made this a time consuming effort for the first several chapters, and incredibly frustrating, even after reading through it before starting to read the book. That being said, I enjoyed the book to a certain degree, and found the concept fasinating, but I'm not sure I would want to read the rest of this series.
It has some good sex scenes and it is a fast burn. But I really just couldn't get into the story line. Being thrust into an unknown world we never really get any resolution to. Sure it may come in the next book but this one couldn't keep my interest enough to want to finish it nor move to the next book. I really tried to. DNF @ 87% then skipped to the end to see if there was resolution which there really wasn't.
I wish I could give this book a chance. There was apparent,y a glossary that was removed from the book and replaced by a link to an outside site. I was okay with that. Too bad it leads to a dead link. I then searched the authors website with no luck. I did a random Google search as well, again with no luck.
Trying to decipher these word without it was annoying, and I had to give up. Hopefully the author will read this and make it accessible in the future.
I enjoyed taking this journey with Adrestia. You fall right along with her as she lands into this unknown world. Wow! I found this one so original and exciting. I never knew where this one was going and loved every minute of it. I look forward to the next one. I received an arc of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
What started out as a book I was not sure about. (Even though the author is one of my favorite.) Ended up being a book I could not put down. I was quite surprised when I came to the end of the book. The way it leads you to feel not only for the leading lady but also for the man that fell with her,is a thing of beauty.
Ugh that ending. That was a great book. I have never read anything from Adell Ryan before but it will not be the last. I will defiantly be reading book number two!
