Lots of good stories

Excellent anthology
This is a great anthology, the stories are all themed with ‘bite’ and not surprisingly, most have vampires as the basis, but other interesting characters are also included. I really liked Phoenix rising, with a dragon and a Phoenix as the main characters. I stayed up late to see how it ended. Taken by the vampires is a bit bleak, but had a happy ending. Banshee cry was interesting with an intriguing story of a banshee finding love. Biting temptation is a mystery with a small town teacher finding out she is more than she seems after inheriting her Aunts house, and the town has secrets. All of these stories are original and the anthology is well worth a look. It has definitely given me more authors to follow.

This is a NON-SPOILER REVIEW. Romance With A Bite is an Anthology of paranormal stories. While most of these stories are vampire stories, there are shifters and others included. I mainly wanted to read this for Tamsin Baker's The Vampire Queen's 5, I found myself thoroughly enjoying mostly all of the stories. This is a great way to read you or fav authors and find some spectacular new-to-you authors. This amazing read is packed full of action, adventure, intrigue, sexy shifters, (not so) scary vampires and lots of heat! (Mature Readers Only) Plan to kick back and escape for a couple of hours into an ever changing world of things that go bump in the night!

This is a review specifically for Her Biker's Bite (which is included in the set).

An exceptionally steamy romance that has slightly more sexiness than substance, but it's perfect for reading when you're about to head to bed. I also liked the unexpected twist on vampire lore.

This is a ten book Paranormal Collection by various Authors with a whole kaleidoscope of creatures.
There is a kaleidoscope paranormal creatures to enjoy in the ten books in this collection. Vampires, Witches, Shapeshifters and Fae with another favorite bikers thrown in. Whatever you are in the mood for you will find it here. Written by various authors it means that each is a very individual take on the subject chosen and prevents the boredom of repetitiveness. I enjoyed all but tend to favor the shapeshifters as the idea of their wilder nature appeals to me. A great addition to my library with so much reading in one download.

I only had time to read the first story of this set: Banshee Cry. This is a review of that book.

I thought this was a very original book. I have never personally read anything with a banshee - or half-banshee - main character before, so this was new territory despite my love of this niche of romance. I really admired Aleah and how she still managed to make the best of things even with her gift/curse. I also really admired Luc and how strong he had been especially in the past. It was well written, and, as I said, I thought it was very original. I would recommended for anyone who likes romance with the supernatural.

I am reviewing Banshee Cry by Jen Katemi.

I really liked this book.
It was my first time reading anything by this author so I did not have any other of her books to compare it to.
Aleah has a very unique problem in that she is a Banshee but her voice when she wails only comes out as something of a muted whisper. She blames herself for the death of her father as a child since she was not able to warn him of danger because of her voice. I loved Luc the vampire she so very reluctantly falls for. He was fabulous and the witty banter and comedic interactions between the two of them really sold the story for me.
I will definitely have to check out more books offered by this author.

Banshee's Cry is this review about:
This was so good. Aleah is a banshee hybrid. She has a fault though. Her voice isn't loud enough to warn anyone of the impending death. Luc is a vampire detective looking for some rouges. He crosses paths with Aleah and sparks fly. The things they learn about each other and the love that blossoms, is a great asset. This book was so good I can't wait for the next one.

Not bad

This isn't a bad collection of vampire stories. Some really good, some ok. I liked the vampire island story. It wasn't too bad. I even liked the vampire police officer and the bananas. There's bound to be something for everyone.

An amazing collection of paranormal stories. Plenty of authors I was familiar with and some that were new to me. Whether it's vampires, shifters, fae, or witches, if you enjoy reading paranormal romance with action and suspense be sure to check out this collection. Of all the stories in this collection, my favorites were probably Banshee Cry, Phoenix Rising, The Vampire Queen, and Her Biker's Bite. And I'll definitely be keeping an eye out for from these authors especially the new series from Jen Katemi that Banshee Cry kicks off.

This review is for Her Biker's Bite

A hot and saucy start to Tiff and Gideon's soulmate story which then turns into an emotional development of feelings and revelations of their pasts that brings them even closer together all the while without letting up on the sauciness. An unexpected twist to vampire lore makes for an interesting read and provides a power-packed happy ending.

Tamsin Baker - The Vampires Queen 5⭐️
It was cute passionate love story. With good people, good vampires and hot shifters. It was forbidden love, going against odds, protecting everyone and promise of peace. It was cute, naive a bit but still a good read.

Reviewing as I go:
Before I start, I'm not really big on vampires as heroes, so I may be barking up the wrong tree here.

Banshee Cry by Jen Katemi: I liked the vampire. I know, I know, but I actually liked that he was honest from the start. Especially about his ability to resist her blood. I liked Aleah and her struggles. The plot moved along and was believable in the world created. While the book is the establishment of a series, the H and h get their HEA and the next novel will be about other characters in the same world. I'll probably read more by this author. *side note* I enjoyed the fact that it was set in Australia. I don't think I've ever come across a PNR set in Australia before and it was a nice change.
Biting Temptation by Kim Cleary: I won't be reading more by Ms. Cleary. So many editing errors that it was hard to follow along at some points. The exact definition of a dhampir in this world is still a mystery to me because it changed several times. We even had the dreaded 'character called by the wrong name' problem. *sigh* Beyond that, the h had a serious TSTL issue, and the setup to make her a Buffy-type heroine was baffling. Because she wasn't. And really showed no aptitude to become so. However, the story was complete unto itself, with an HEA (if you can call it that, because I felt no connection between them.) Whatever. Next.
Taken by the Vampires by Charmaine Ross: Ooooo, I likey. I've already found some more books by Ms. Ross to read. I felt the plot did drag a little at certain points, but the smexy scenes certainly made up for it. The reverse harem felt balanced and I liked each of the Heroes equally. I loved that they trusted the h to come to them on her own decision, even when it was dangerous for them to wait.
Phoenix Rising by Jess Devine: Not a vampire in sight, but there was still biting. Don't ask, it worked in context. Anyway, what we have here are a phoenix in disguise who is still learning all about herself, and a dragon shifter who is hiding plenty of secrets of his own. The book was a little longer than really fit the plot. I found myself looking to see how much was left a few times. But I enjoyed most of the journey. Unfortunately, I did have a couple little niggling questions at the end. I would have liked a little more explanation on... well, that would spoil things, wouldn't it. But we did get an HEA that felt good.
Her Biker's Bite by Michelle Somers/ML Winters: Points for an entirely new take on vampires. I was intrigued. The smexy was pretty good, too. (Just the one vamp hottie here.) But I didn't really like the h. I get that she had reasons for being unable to trust easily, but she had more flip-flops than a Florida beach during spring break. Also, there were issues with the science. Why choose Influenza A when a completely new virus would have been able to do whatever you wanted it to? The fictional FluA didn't work like the real world version would be able to, and the sometimes vaccine/sometimes antidote was different depending on what the plot required. I don't expect authors to be experts in all the subjects they write about, but I do expect them to reach out to people who *are* to get at least the basics right. Especially when it's such a big part of the book.
Moonlight Bite by Elvina Payet: The vampires have set up an exclusive singles resort where the guests get to really enjoy the night life. Makes sense from the vamp's point of view. Have the willing participants brought to them. I liked the characters: Amy, who is celebrating her win over cancer, and Etienne, the vamp founder of the resort. Cute story, a little angst, but you know it's gonna end in an HEA, so it's not too bad. I'll have to see what else Ms. Payet has written.
The Vampire Queen by Tamsin Baker: This one has a different set-up, as the Queen has already found her true love, but he's a shifter, and it's forbidden. It's more about how they get their HEA. The shortest book yet, it's concise and doesn't suffer for it. If you're looking for smexy times, this ain't it. There's one mostly off-screen encounter, and then onto the plot.
Undying Night by Andra Ashe: Plot: Woman raised by vampires must choose between embracing the day (in the form of a human man) or the night (in the form of a male vampire), but then gets all her choices taken away anyway. But this is all completely overshadowed by the complete lack of editing. Didn't anyone actually read through this before printing? No. No, they didn't. There were extra words, and missing words so frequent that I couldn't turn more than two teeny-tiny phone app pages without being thrown out of the story by trying to figure out what the author meant. And then I found these:
Her 50s inspired sundress brushed against her calves as she entered (bakery name).
That's a direct quote. Try this one:
She moved to the (describe bed), sat on the edge and patted the mattress.
Have some pride in your work, Ms Ashe!
Only two more to go!
Wild Orchid by Emily Hussey:

To Be Continued....

This Review is Just For Banshee Cry - Jen Katemi

This is one of my favorite authors and I usually enjoy most of what she writes which thankfully is the case with this book as I found myself drawn into this new series pretty quickly.

You heart goes out pretty quick to Aleah when you hear her backstory and feel her pain as she feels a person’s death but is not able to do what a banshee normally does which is scream as death approaches.

While pretty close to death’s door when Luc finds himself on Aleah’s front porch you pick on his self-descripting humor and a bit of fatalism.

There is immediate chemistry between these two, although Aleah does a good job of fighting it for the most part. Her mixed messages, which she admits to having, is causing havoc with her mind and body. Luc doesn’t see the problem they are both adults and desire each other why not both have mutual satisfaction? Aleah’s past is being a bit of a cock block and Luc is doing his best to get around it.

Luc is there to figure out why two normally mortal enemies are now joining forces and wreaking havoc on the human world. He certainly wasn’t expecting to find Aleah a half fae that would capture his attention and his heart.

The author does a nice job of ratcheting up the sexual tension between these two before they finally come together. Weaved in between their sexy times we get info that these killings may have started way before Aleah was born. Seems there is a hidden force that wants to cause chaos and reclaim the world for those that are more powerful.

Aleah’s mommy dearest also puts in a not so warm appearance. Man is she chockfull of icy, creepy, cold nastiness that you take a step back for your own protection. She knows a lot more than she’s letting on and she has no problems manipulating whomever she chooses in the grand scheme of things.

Aleah and Luc get their HEA or it might be a happy for now?!? As the story continues in Book Two with one of Aleah’s half sisters.

BANSHEE CRY by Jen Katemi…..

What an impressive leap back into the paranormal world for one of my favourite authors!

Banshee Cry is a fast-paced, intriguing and passionate account of a young hybrid’s dilemma when she is faced with an alluring Vampire who lands on her doorstep after a violent encounter with rogue beings. Forced to choose between her aversion to anything Vamp, and her innate need to provide shelter and care for the injured, Aleah must face down her worst fears and take a leap of faith when everything inside her screams run.

Luc isn’t your regular Vampire; he is part of a newly formed paranormal policing unit which was created 30 years earlier as the world became aware that “others” walked among us. Hunting rogues is what he does, but when they start teaming up, he is left fighting for his life and seeking help in Aleah’s home.

This story is complex and captivating for one that is relatively short. There’s the emotional turmoil that Aleah endures as she fights an inner war with her heartbreaking history and the unexplainable attraction that continues to grow the longer Luc is in her presence, and Luc discovers that while he is drawn to this hybrid’s blood, like flower to the sun, he is also finds her mysteriously enchanting and vows to protect her at all costs.

Banshee Cry appears to be the first in a new series by Katemi, so I’m looking forward to the next exciting foray into the world of The Blood Fae Chronciles.

This Anthology has several different books in it by several different Authors each tackling a different paranormal theme. I chose to read and review one of those stories.

Josie Caporetto (The Vampires Mate) deals with obsession, jealousy, eternal love and hate. Zev is over 2,000 years old he has watched the women he loved die time after time all because of the treaturous creature Sadana a vampire whose obsessed with him began when Zev was a slave and Gladiator in Rome 79 BC. All Zev ever wanted was his freadom and his love Hosidia but the High Priestess Segana wouldn't let him go instead she killed the women he loved turned him and continues to torture him in the year 2019. Natalia knows about vampires there part of modern society walk in the daylight thanks to medical advancement and live normal lives in human society what she didn't know is that she has been loved by one Vampire for centuries and destroyed by another. Natalia and Zev instantly connect but with her life in danger from Segana Zev has to resist but you can deny there love for only so long there destiny will either end together or start for real this time. Can Segana finally be stopped or will she win again.

I tried reading the first and second books presented in the box set but I couldn't finish them. The first chapters didnt grab my attention so I started the third one...:Taken by the Vampires by Charmaine Ross. This was a story of three vampires under a curse waiting for their true mate to arrive to save them. Throughout the story I really didn't like the character Ella. She was too dang gone flighty and I felt not worthy of the three sexy vampires. I'm not sure where all her insecurities came from but her constant thinking not good enough for them was grating my nerves. Of course at the end she wised up and believe in the feelings for her vampires and it was a HEA. The story was interesting enough for me to get through it because I really enjoyed the vampire brothers and their devotion to Ella. This book gave me so hope that the other books left in the set my get my interest.
