Always You follows the story of two star-crossed lovers, who can't seem to get enough of themselves. In 1992, Cahal and Sarah are inseparable. Their love for each other is deeper than anything they've experienced before and they are surer than sure that they are perfect for each other. The only obstacle in their way is the objection of Sarah's father and Aunt Vi. Fast-forward 20 years in the future, Sarah and Cahal lead very different lives, both parents and still unable to forget the one who got away. And when Cahal re-enters Sarah's life, old flames start to rekindle.

I have never read any of Erin Kaye's books, so I didn't know what to expect, but I am very glad I took the chance to read as it's definitely made a very good impression. After reading this, I will be looking forward to Erin's books in the future. Now why would I say so, you might wonder. Right from the first chapter, I warmed up to the idea of unrequited love between Sarah and Cahal. The love they shared was pure, beautiful and passionate, which compelled me to feel their heartbreak when they had to be torn apart.

The bonds among the characters in the book were cleverly written. Always You emphasises on family, love and friendship. The characters came to life in my head as Erin Kaye managed to create such real, everyday-life people that you will sympathise with when the going gets tough and wish to be a part of their happiness. Beware: the cover might suggest that it's your typical Romeo & Juliet love story, but it's more than that as there are essence of Pride & Prejudice in it. It discusses several themes, such as family bonds, tragedy, loss, sacrifice and forgiveness.

Overall, I think Always You is a great read. It surely is a rollercoaster of emotions, so if you don't trust yourself with your water works, have tissues at standby. I hope I haven't given away much about the book. Trust me, it's an engaging book about everlasting love, hope and tinged with sweet, romantic moments. A captivating book which will leave you thinking about the choices you've made in life and that it's never too late to learn to love again.

After reading Second Time by Erin Kaye last year I was looking forward to reading more of her books and so when I saw the beautiful cover of Always You I decided to have a day in the sun with what I hoped was going to be a great read.

The book starts off in 1992 in Ireland, Sarah and Cahal are head over heels in love with each other and they are sure they are destined to be together for the rest of their lives. The book then rolls forward 20 years and we see the pair have been separated for all this time and both have been married and had children with different people. Now they are reunited will their old flame be rekindled?

When I read the synopsis of this book it instantly sparked my interest even though it doesn’t give much away, but it felt to me just by reading the synopsis as though it was like a modern day Romeo and Juliet tale with Cahals family being from the wrong side of town!

The romance between Sarah and Cahal is very believable and their relationship is by no means plain sailing. When the books moves ahead to 20 years we begin to see that Sarah’s dad and aunt disapproved of Cahal and would do anything they can to break up the relationship. The whole way through the book I couldn’t work out why her family were so against him.

The book moves along at a gentle pace and begins to uncover some hidden secrets, which are so unexpected that I was in shock and couldn’t wait to turn over the page I find out what happens next. I do love an unpredictable twist in a book.

Erin Kaye has again managed to create a warm and emotional story and she has created some beautiful relationships in this book not just between Sarah and Cahal but also between Sarah and her sister it is lovely to see such a loving relationship between the siblings.

This is a great romantic story that focuses on family loyalty, hidden secrets and a troubled but destined romance. The book has its highs and its lows and some very emotional parts especially the chapter with Sarah and the lovely Evelyn this was a very moving part of the book. I loved Second Time Around but for me Always You has trumped it!

This story reads like a bad soap opera. It was entertaining but somehow the characters weren't realistic and the action just lurched from one drama to another, with no pause for reflection in between.

I found the writing a little clunky. Or maybe it was the editing. For instance, in the first few pages its mentioned that someone used to work for the RUC. The author then obviously realised not everyone would realise what that stood for. So instead of naturally brining the meaning into the text like perhaps "when hed retired from the Royal Ulster Constabulary...", she instead added a sentence which sounded like it came from Wikipedia to explain it.

I also would have thought that any author or editor worth their salt would know that the exclamation "here, here!" should actually be "hear, hear!"

Tediously drawn out book!

I should have given up half way through. The story was tedious and predictable. Can't think how it received so many good reviews. Totally boring! I'm annoyed at myself for sticking with it.

A beautiful story. Sarah was such an angel. I must say, the background of this novel is a bit hard to comprehend, as I am not familiar with the Irish culture and Ireland itself. Nonetheless, it was a beautiful ending, showing how people capable of loving others who are not from their own family.

A life long love story covering all aspects to make a romantic book. It is full of life's ups and downs, families with secrets and past history plus a few surprises. A mix of happiness and sadness which predictably comes good in the end. A nice book to relax with.

A truly beautiful love story.

Thoroughly enjoyable read. The author has a very good way of describing the joys and heartache of young love. The family secret that is revealed is a shock and the unfolding of the past into the present is brilliantly written.

Always You is the story of Sarah and Cahal, childhood sweethearts who were pushed apart by their families when Cahal left for Australia. Now, by circumstance, they have been reunited years later, all grown up with kids and emotional baggage. Each of them has their own version of the events that took place back when Cahal left. When Sarah is introduced to Cahal at a comany event she is taken completely by surprise, and their old, buried but not forgotten feelings come to the surface all over again.

Sarah, divorced mum of Molly and Lewis, and also a successful career woman, has never been truly happy. Her one true love, Cahal, flew out of her life 20 years ago. Even though she married the father of her children she was never in love. With her ex-husband being re-married, and his mother health deteriorating by the day Sarah has a lot on her plate.

Cahal flew to Australia to escape from his rough background and had expected Sarah to follow him. Disappointed then he is now also a divorcee with three sons. He is less than keen on the man who has effectively taken his place, in his house, Brady his ex-wife Adele's new husband.

Ian, Sarah's ex-husband, is having marriage problems again. His new wife isn't interested in his kids, in his mother and family commitments, and barely seems interested in him. Ian is still in love with Sarah, and is on the verge of trying everything he can to get her back again.

The story is told in the third person and is mostly narrated by Sarah, Cahal and Ian. Third person really helped with the story as it saves the reader having to remind themselves who is telling the story. It starts in 1992, with a look at Sarah and Cahal's relationship before everything broke down, and them jumps to 2012, where it would seem, they are destined to meet again. Throughout the story there are flashbacks from both Cahal and Sarah which allow you to get glimpses at different parts of their past together. I think this really makes the book accessible to readers of any age as younger chic-lit/romance readers will be able to empathise with the younger characters as well as translating those feelings to the grown up version of the characters.

I liked Sarah and Cahal's characters; I thought they were both believable in their feelings towards each other but also in their actions. The story has some underlying themes, mainly an almost Romeo and Juliet-esque theme as Cahal and Sarah are from different sides of the track. Sarah's family are less than pleased when her young self announces her relationship with Cahal. And when the pair are reunited again it would seem that her family went to lengths she couldn't have imagined to keep her apart. So there is a bit of a mystery to be solved which is a bit of a page turner.

I wasn't keen on Ian's character, I always felt quite uneasy reading about him, because I wasn't sure of what he was capable of, what lengths he would go to, to reclaim his family. But, in the end, Ian is only a poor soul who has lost his way slightly and with some gentle guidance from his mother he gets himself back on track.

Overall, a really great read, touching and though provoking, plus I kind of imagined Cahal as Gerald Butler so that was a bonus too.

In 1992 in Northern Ireland, students Sarah and Cahal are deeply in love, despite the fact they come from opposite sides of the tracks - not so much by a religious divide, but Sarah’s father is a former senior policeman, whilst Cahal’s father has been in prison.

Fast forward twenty years and life. has not turned out as they hoped. Both had been married and had children but we’re now divorced. Fate brings them together when Cahal returns from Australia to the take over of the firm where Sarah works in H.R. Old flames are rekindled, but crucial issues remain.

This was more than just a Romeo and Juliet story. It emerged as one of family loyalties, mis-communications, lies and betrayals. Why were Sarah’s father and Aunt Vi so against Cahal? How could the couple revoncile their lives and that of their children and ex partners across the continents? Is Sarah willing to let go of her promise on the death of her mother to care for her much younger sister, Becky, who is carving an independent life as an adult? All modern issues in today’s society of “blended” families.

But somehow I began to lose interest once the dramatic denouncement took place and we learned the truth about why Sarah’s father and aunt were so against the relationship. I can’t say I related to the couple or was bothered about what happened to them. 2.5 rating.

I absolutely love the cover of Always You, it is beautiful and romantic and immediately had me interested in the story.

Always You focuses on Sarah and Cahal. At university they are both in love with each other, inseparable and dreaming of a future together. But forces are trying to drive them apart. We then fast-forward twenty years later and find that Sarah and Cahal lead very different lives, and had since married to someone else with children too. But a chance meeting brings them together, what will happen this time? Does their past have a future?

I really loved Always You. I was drawn in from the first page and I was always keen to read on because I wanted to know what would happen between Sarah and Cahal.

The romance between Sarah and Cahal was very well written. I quite liked that the romance wasn’t always smooth because it made their romance very realistic and believable. As much as we like to think we will all have the perfect romances, it doesn’t always turn out that way and sometimes we will hit bumps in the road, and that’s what happens with Sarah and Cahal as we learn some members of Sarah’s family disapproved of their relationship. But as I say, this makes it seem very real, and it gave me something to root for, I really wanted to find out what the reasons were behind this disapproval and I desperately hoped that Sarah and Cahal could overcome this.

The story flows beautifully and I never felt rushed with the pace of this novel. I thoroughly enjoyed spending an afternoon with my head buried in this book. Although from the cover, it seems like s a straightforward romance, there were in fact a few twists and turns that I was surprised by and did not see coming, so these is a lot more in store!

Always You is a compelling and very-well written story of romance, secrets, family and second chances at love. It is emotional, full of dreams and hope, and sometimes touches on more serious subjects, but it is gripping and a story that I would definitely recommend. I can’t wait to read more from Erin Kaye.

Always You was a paperback I won on Goodreads and the first thing that drew me to it was the lovely cover, then I read the description and it seemed like my kind of novel that I like to read so I entered the competition to win it. I was thrilled when I did and looking forward to getting stuck in to the story about a couple of fated lovers who meet up again after a twenty year absence only to fall head over heels for one another all over again. However, if they thought it would be easy to be reunited then they are wrong for the reasons that broke them up in the first place come to light as secrets are slowly revealed to shocking results. Whilst they are not the young ones they once were and times have moved on to give each of them commitments from previous relationships, which could ultimately tear them apart and make them miserable without each other, if one were to live in Australia and the other Ireland. For family matters are always the hardest to deal with but it is the family what matters most. It was an easy flowing read and one that I had no trouble picking up where I left off, even thought I left the paperback book at my mother-in-law’s place for absolutely ages and she ended up reading it too so I had to wait for her to finish it before I could. She enjoyed it too by the way so we both would recommend it to others for a romantic, emotional reading pleasure and I would gladly read more by this wonderful author and probably would my mother-in-law as well if I happen to leave any more books lying around her house.

At first, I thought this story was going to be a bit over the top with the drama. The two perfect young lovers, Sarah and Cahal are planning to spend their life together. But we can see in the first chapter, there are family issues. He is poor and from the wrong side of the tracks. She is middle class, and is afraid to tell her family about him. As it turns out, her family does not approve. In fact, they know who he is, and who his father is, and they insist that she stop seeing him. We go the whole book, not knowing why. It seems at first that they disapprove because of the class differences. They don't tell Sarah why, but she faces a decision of choosing Cahal, or her family. It is a pretty cruel choice she must make. Cahal ends up leaving for a job, and instead of following him, she chooses to stay home with her family. More drama ensues, as his letters and phone calls are intercepted, by whom, we find out later. She marries someone else, and they spend 20 years wondering what happened. Cahal returns home and sees her again. The feelings are still there. We slowly, slowly start unraveling the secrets, and the reasons why Sarah's family did what they did. Let's just say they had their reasons. But Cahal is not his father. In the end, some remarkable things happen to bring them back together. A nice love story about overcoming the past and starting over.

This is a really good romance read set in Northern Ireland. In 1992 Sarah and Cahal were madly in love. In 2012, after being separated for 20 years, they meet again. It is the story of whether or not they can turn the clocks back and carry on from where they left off and, if so, what about the baggage that each brings with them to the relationship? As the story of how and why they separated in the first place unfolds we soon realise there are some very dark secrets that need to come to light which could explain why Sarah's family were so against their match in the first place. It is a story of love, deeply buried secrets, lies and family loyalty.

Sarah and Cahal themselves are a lovely couple who you really start to like (even though they have an annoying habit of calling each other "darling" in almost every sentence). It is a very gently told story that flows well, with some light moments but also some very emotional scenes. As you are reading it, you really start to worry on behalf of Sarah and Cahal, hoping they can make things work out second time around, even when it seems all the odds are stacked against them.

A story with a very satisfying ending, that is well worth a read.

Could you imagine the love of your life being hated for nothing at all? How heartbreaking it must be to try win both them and your love over. When I was reading 'Always You' I always felt really sad for Cahall more than I did for Sarah. I felt like not only was he unhappy in love, but he had always been left out at home and with his drunk of a dad being abusive, that poor man didn't have a good life at all. Bless him.

Erin Kaye has not just given us a book of longing and everlasting love in Always You, but also a book of disgust and heart wrenching secrets. It is honestly a book I would highly recommend. A lot of people seem to stay clear of the chick-lit genre as its all fluff, heels and romance, but this is one of them books that prove that wrong and I know if given the chance it will be greatly received by lovers of all genres.

Packed full of secrets, lies, love and scandal. Characters with their own hidden story's and sorrows. It embraces you in feelings and things you could not imagine happening. It's a brilliant tale.

Loved this book its the type of books I go for' about romance and love. Read it within 2 day was such a page turner. I liked how the book went on introducing different people and there lifes rather then just focused on the two main character's. I like what the author did by making the story realistic like a real life situation that could easily happen and you could really relate to the characters and how they felt and why they felt like that. It wasn't just like a fairy tail were everything was simple and everyone lived happy ever after there were choices to be made and feelings involved which were believable. The thing I disliked was how it built up so much to sarah and Cahl meeting again but when they did there wasn't alot of description it just jumped into them being at oneanotheres house then to the next day. Would have been nice to feel there emotion a bit more and for it to go into more detail about what they felt seeing oneanother again. but over all loved it and would recomend.

I had put in to win this book in a Goodreads draw, I was amazed I got a copy and I'm so glad I did! It was a really good read. This book is very easy to get into which was great and has a brilliant story from start to end.

The story is about couple who get together whilst in University who are from different backgrounds one being off a bad council estate and one being middle class whose father is in the police. They are so in love the only thing they want in life is to be together but bad circumstances cause them not to be together and lead different life's. Then what is the off chance that they meet years later in a workplace? Will they feel the same? Will they get back together? I cant say no more or it will spoil the book for you. Everybody has someone they let slip when they were younger and wondered what would happen if you met them again, what would happen?

This book is a great book and I really recommend it!

Back in 1992 Cahal and Sarah were young lovers, deeply in love and had wanted to spend the rest of their lives together.

Fast-forward to the present day and twenty years later, and things have not gone to plan. Both married different people and both are now divorced, with young children.

When a chance meeting puts them back in touch and they both find that they still have feelings for each other can their future be together? Or will their past tear them apart?

I really enjoyed this love story of two people who really should be together but are kept apart by secrets and lies and just because they are from completely different backgrounds. With all the odds against them and for all the lost time, I found myself really willing them to find a way to be together. This is a beautifully written book by Erin Kaye.

Firstly I should point out that I received a copy of this book in a Goodreads giveaway. I am unfamiliar with this author or any of their work.

OK, so I clicked on the giveaway because of the cover, nice work. The book is about what ifs, misunderstandings and trying to sort the whole mess out if you have been given a second chance at a relationship but you have a heap of baggage accumulated along the way. All in all it was an interesting enough read (being from NI I am familiar with some of the places mentioned) with good down to earth characters. The ending was a bit too contrived for my liking but that's just my thoughts. I am trying to figure out what genre I would give it, it's not quite angst, more like a gentle domestic drama.

A nice easy read with the germ of an idea, but very predictable and no surprises at all (one reviewer claimed that she didn't predict the surprises, but I have no idea what she meant!) It was all clearly indicated and signposted throughout which militated against the will to read on. This was aggravated by the fact that the characters didn't appeal to me; none of them seemed very likeable to me. However, I did read it to the end (I really don't like abandoning a book!)and must say that I felt that the ending was contrived and extremely long drawn out. It felt as though the author had no idea how to end it without being unfair to the characters! It could have benefitted from editing throughout the last couple of chapters. Sorry, Erin!

This my first Erin Kaye book that I have read and I really enjoyed it. The story of two lovers who lost each other but now have the chance to re-unite. A great love story but a few dark unexpected twists as well.
Now I have had a taster, I will definitely read more of Erin Kaye's books.

found it hard to put down once i got into the story,a great story of love overcoming predudice. a lot of characters with there own stories which at first i found a little confusing but it all eventually tied in together making a great read. emotional at times but also uplifting.
