Pastor Sean provides a deep dive into a daily commune with the Holy Spirit. This book has 36 daily chapters, so it took me more than a month to read it. A few days into it, I discovered that there are 31 daily practice exercises in the back. I used two bookmarks to more naturally complete each exercise after the daily reading. Some chapters required spending a little more time weighing or analyzing what was shared, praying about, or seeking out my own cross references, though all bearing good fruit toward spiritual growth. Sean's personal life experiences are scattered throughout this guide, of which I appreciated getting to know his story a little better in that way. The depths to which Sean took the study was very relevant in this guide. I admire and applaud his courage in addressing certain topics in regard to the Holy Spirit that many pastors hold as taboo. I totally agree in that most churches today are so far from the 1st Church, many merely teaching surface, nearly unrecognizable Christianity. We all need to get back to those grass roots of the Bible, and quit quenching The Spirit! While I didn't quite grasp a few of his examples in connection with the point in places, he shared many great things the Holy Spirit put on his heart that need to be said. We the Church do need to be reminded of the fullness of the promises in our walk today. The intent of study books such as The Pilgrims Guide, is to allow the reader's mind to focus on what the Holy Spirit would have them understand, and to hear His voice. I thought the prayers at the close of each daily chapter and the application practice exercises were excellent help in that regard. That is to say I think Sean has a voice and one worth hearing, I believe the Holy Spirit is speaking through him, and I am thankful that he listens and will continue to share what the Lord lays on his heart.
