Growing up in foster care, Officer Traci Lucky had a rough start to life, but things are looking up now that she's found a place in Bridgeport with two sisters she never knew she had. One night while on the job Traci finds Gwen, a pregnant teen caught up in a dangerous world of drugs, and takes her straight to the hospital. There Traci encounters the oh-so-charming Dr. Matt Rossi, who surprises Traci with his compassion -- and his movie-star good looks. A busy ob-gyn with a huge, meddling Italian family, Matt Rossi hasn't had much time for love in his life. All that changes when he meets the beautiful Officer Lucky. He's intrigued by her strength and the kind heart she tries to hide beneath her tough exterior. When Matt confides that he needs to learn to waltz for his brother's wedding, Traci reveals that her sister happens to be a ballroom dance teacher. Next thing they know, Matt and Traci are juggling busy careers, helping young Gwen with her pregnancy and personal safety, and learning to waltz together. But when Gwen's escalating problems threaten to put all of them in danger, they wonder if they'll ever find time for a little romance too. Shelley Shepard Gray takes us back to Bridgeport, Ohio, a town where family comes in all different shapes and sizes, love has no limits, and community means everyone deserves a little help when they're lost.

This was a likable ’meet-cute’ between a doctor and a police officer. I enjoyed it when Dr. Matt Rossi and Traci Lucky were on the pages. There was something charming about their insecurities and dating.

There was some minor suspense with a teenage pregnant girl and the drug-addicted father of her baby. And just enough drama between Traci and her new-found sisters. They had the same mother, but different fathers. Each of them was raised differently.

The chapters were short and each began with a quote on dancing. Tying all the threads was Matt and Traci learning to dance the waltz. Take the Lead was a predictable romance, but sweet.

Hhhhm.

Cute but I wasn't able to get lost in this as easily as book 1. Also there were some editing issues that threw me off (an extra sentence and a 'her' when it was obviously a 'here'). I finished it but really only because I was so far in by then it was easier to keep going. Not a awful book I think I am good with this series and this author for the time being. :)

Shelley Shepard Gray writes compelling stories, and this series has become one of my favorites among her many series. I’ve loved following the story of these three sisters. This book focuses on Traci, who is the police officer. I liked Traci—she’s smart; brave; and compassionate. I admired the way she had overcome her difficult childhood and uses her memories to make her a better officer. I was cheering on her sweet romance with Matt, and I loved the way the sisters rallied around to help Traci as she tried to protect Gwen. This is a great story, and I’m looking forward to ready Kimber’s story in the next book.

This is a clean, sweet contemporary romance. I normally review Christian fiction, but I’d put this series in the general fiction genre.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher. All opinions are my own.

Traci is the second sister in this trilogy. She is smart, determined and has a wonderful vulnerability. While trying to help a young woman, Gwen, get away from her past life she meets Matt. Matt is a doctor who senses her vulnerability underneath all her strength. Matt knew from the first that Traci is someone special. Traci has some emotional baggage from her past. Traci is afraid of getting hurt so she keeps people at a distance. Traci is champion for Gwen and girls in need. Traci and Matt grow closer thru dance lessons. When Matt and Traci dance they complete each other. Traci recently connected with her sisters and I love the interaction with the sisters. It was great catch up with Kimber , Shannon and Dylan again. This is a wonderful series and very excited for Kimber story.

Captivating--realistic--romantic. Author Shelley Shepard Gray captured my attention with the realistic characters and true to life circumstances in this story and I'm so glad to get to know another sister from her Dance With Me series. The main character in Take the Lead proves that a person doesn't have to be defined by their past and they can use this awareness to build a promising future. This is the case with Traci Lucky! Her mother was addicted to drugs when Traci was born and she spent her childhood in a group home but this helped her become a strong, intelligent police officer. Her experiences also made her sensitive to the needs of others and Traci finds herself in a position to keep another baby from being placed "in the system" because of its drug-addicted mother. Realizing that she can't do this alone, Traci asks the doctor caring for that young mother to help. What follows is a story of two people, raised in totally different environments, who discover that their future may offer more than just a brief professional relationship.

This is the second book in the Dance With Me series and I enjoyed returning to Bridgeport, Ohio, to learn more about the three sisters who have managed to find their way back to each other, after being separated at birth by social workers. Three sisters, so different, but so eager to be a family! I also loved watching a friendship develop between Traci and Dr. Matt Rossi as they work together to help Gwen and her unborn baby. He definitely fits the description "dream doctor" and it becomes apparent that he recognizes just how special Traci is. Matt needs to be able to dance at his brother's wedding and Traci's sister may be able to help, so why wouldn't Traci want to save him from total embarrassment in his personal life? Will her efforts to help him learn to waltz turn into a lifelong dance? Can a man who has always enjoyed a loving, supportive family understand someone who grew up alone and in foster care?

Take the Lead is a sweet contemporary romance and I recommend it to all who enjoy feel-good stories. It made me anxious to visit Bridgeport again to see what the future holds for Kimber, the third sister in Gray's series.

I voluntarily received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. A positive review was never required and these are my own opinions.

“Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass; it’s about learning to dance in the rain” Vivian Greene

I enjoyed all the dancing quotes sprinkled throughout this novel. I liked this story more than the last as two professionals Officer Traci Lucky and Dr. Matt Rossi meet in their efforts to save Gwen and her unborn child. Things are not what they appear at first. Gwen is 19 lost and alone. She does want to save her baby, but she has an abusive boyfriend and an equally mistrusting older brother. They work together to keep Gwen safe.

Traci tells Matt about her sisters…”Shannon, Kimber, and I all grew up really differently. But, we each became people to be proud of.”…”Shannon was raised in a small town in West Virginia and has a sweet country accent. Kimber grew up in New York, just outside the city….I grew up in a group home in Cleveland.”

She continues to share that they decided to live together for a year to get to know each other for the first time, since social workers separated them at birth.

Matt brings Traci home to meet his Italian family. Traci is amazed at all the food and the love poured out one to another. Matt’s family is thrilled to meet Traci. With Matt’s busy schedule as a Dr. He didn’t get out much. Traci can feel all the love and enjoys the family dinner she never experienced before. It was kind of reminded me of the Christmas scene in the movie, While You Were Sleeping with Sandra Bullock, as she holds the present to her chest and takes in everyone opening up their present. It is a special moment in the movie and in this book.

I liked what the author said to readers, “I hope you, too, connected with some of the characters in the series. The trilogy will end with Save the Last Dance, which is Kimber’s story. In it, Kimber steps away from modeling, meets a mechanic named Gunnar and even gets talked into learning the cha-cha from Shannon – all during the month of December.” That will be an interesting story for sure.

Here's another dance quote I liked, “When a body moves, it’s the most revealing thing. Dance for me a minute, and I’ll tell you who you are.” Mikhail Baryshnikove”

This book was just Fun, Fun, Fun! It’s one (and the series) you don’t want to miss.

Take the Lead is the second drama filled story written by Shelley Shepard Gray in her Dance With Me series. The characters are very likeable and really draw the reader into the story. There is never a lull in this story keeping the readers interest and turning pages. This story is filled with love of family and friends, compassion for those struggling with life, and dealing with past demons. The author has done a fantastic job continuing her series with this story and I definitely will be anticipating the next story. At the end of this story is a glimpse into the next story.

I was not given a complimentary copy of this book to read and review. I have rated this story with five stars for meeting my expectations of a wonderful story that I can highly recommend to others. I was not approached to post a favorable response.

Congratulations to Shelley Shepard Gray on writing such an inspiring and emotionally filled story for her readers enjoyment.

Great storyline

As we continue the saga of three sisters who have recently met due to a DNA test... And all the other wonderful characters that come into their lives... It was a joy to see Traci and Matt's relationship unfold!

But some of the editing threw me off...missing words, double words... Not being clear if Shannon was already married or not...
Still, I look forward to the next one!! And you will too!

I received a copy of this story from NetGalley for a honest review.

Take the Lead by Shelley Shepard Gray is the second book of the(Dance with Me) series, a series about 3 sisters that find each other after not knowing they even had sisters. Take the Lead is Officer Traci Luck story and I have to say, I really like Traci how she was strong but a soft center especially with Gwen, the pregnant girl she found in a crack house. I also like Matt the doctor who treats Gwen and is Traci's new love interest but I don't feel like we get enough time with him. I love all the “sister” time that is in the book, it really helped me to connect with them all. The story itself was interesting in that we have Gwen's ex-boyfriend (the drug dealer) wanting her back, which added some drama to the story. The romance fell a bit short, even though it was sweet to read about them together, the main focus seemed to be about the “sisters” relationships. Having said that I still enjoyed the story.

This is book 2 in The Dance with Me Series and can certainly be read as a stand alone. This is the story of Officer Traci Lucky and Dr Matt Rossi and they are adorable. It is a great story of compassion and trust. When I began reading I was immediately drawn in and found myself putting the book down only to have it back in my hands a few seconds later. I have read book one and two, I now have a bond with these characters and love each one of them. Don't miss this series.

I can't win this month with my reading list! I have three major issues with this book.

(1) The story actually started out well and then got incredibly slow and was overly long. There were entire chapters that could have been cut. The editor could have axed 100 pages and the book would gave been better for it.

(2) These characters are in their 20's and they all speak like 80 year olds. It was so odd to read. Starting sentences with "You see, ..." and saying "She's a young thing and she's eight months pregnant." or "They were dressed up real fine...". All of the dialog feels like it is written by an older woman who has no idea how 20-somethings speak.

(3) The female lead is struggling with wether or not she should share her abusive childhood with her boyfriend. Will it scare him off? Will he consider her "broken"? She turns to a mentor for advise and the mentor basically tells her she shouldn't share that part of her past with those she loves. WTAF? This is an outdated and emotionally harmful stance and should not be in this book. Holding back and keeping secret large chunks of your life experiences from someone you are in a serious and committed relationship with is a horrible idea. It supposes that revealing that about your past makes you less lovable in some way. Or that your partner can't handle knowing the real you, only the easy and positive parts of your life experience. Need I say that not only is this utter bulls*it, but it's also really unhealthy, both for the individual and the relationship.

Shelley Shepard Gray excels at telling stories with heart and truth. Her new series, the Dance with Me series, is about three sisters reunited as adults. Take the Lead releases today, and it’s a compelling look at how we should treat people around us who may appear to be different than we are.

This book brings so many questions to the surface: what role should our families play in our relationships? At what point does danger trump our ability to help other people? What informs our identity, and can we change it? What is a family?

These are all crucial issues in today’s turbulent times, but Take the Lead isn’t a heavy book at all; instead, Gray addresses these questions with her signature sweetness and care. The story certainly invites readers to ponder their own reactions to these issues, but at no point does it feel scary or overwhelming. Despite the seriousness of the plot, Gray keeps the plot moving and the reader invested without bringing the mood down.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book – and the one that kicks off the series, Shall We Dance? They’re really fun, lighthearted romances – perfect for the stressful days we’re living in. I love how the sisters are learning to bond and relate to each other all while making a home together and in their new relationships.

Take the Lead is a bit different than the other books by Gray that I’ve read, however, and I feel that I would be remiss in not sharing how. This one is published by a secular publisher, and while there are still references to prayer, faith, and God in the story, major life lessons are without named spiritual lessons. Also, several characters are often reaching for alcoholic beverages and some, being romantically involved, reference spending the night together – in ways that mean that they haven’t but aren’t opposed to the idea. Both of these references are kept light, but it is a departure from Gray’s other scripture-filled stories.

I can’t wait to read Save the Last Dance, the final story in the series, though. If it’s as good – and as timely – as the two that came before it, I’ll be pre-ordering it as soon as possible. If you’re looking for sweet, romantic, lighthearted reads, perfect for a fall getaway or a pandemic distraction, Take the Lead is the perfect choice.

I received a free copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

Having been a dancer for several years and one still at heart I did enjoy reading this book and loved all of the little descriptions of different dance styles and quotes at the start of each chapter. I did enjoy the characters in this book, they worked so well together and I was disappointed when the book ended. I would read more of Shelly Shepard Gray’s Dance With Me Series and will be following her new books as they come out. I love finding a new author!

I received this book in kindle format from NetGalley.com. The thoughts above and comments on this book are my own and weren’t required in order to receive a copy of the book. #TakeTheLead. #NetGalley

This is my fourth book by this author. I actually had the pleasure of meeting her at Book Con a few years ago and was so honored to have received an autographed copy of her book! This is the second book in the Dance with Me Series. I did not read the first book in this series, but the third book comes out on November 17, 2020, so I am hoping to get my hands on that one! Thankfully, there wasn’t too much of a story arc where I was completely lost, but there was enough of one leaving me wanting more and yearning for this next book!! AUTHOR SUCCESS! We begin this book with a raid on a house in suspicion of a meth lab. Yup- hold on and buckle up. Officer Traci Lucky is trying to save a twentyish woman who is pregnant and barely coherent. Despite calling ahead to the Emergency Room, Traci’s urgent call had been ignored and no one was there to meet her. The usually sleepy emergency room was slamming in downtown Cincinnati. It was nearly two in the morning, what was going on? Chapter Two starts with the definition of waltz; a twenty-eight bar per minute done in 3-4 time and can be fairly romantic. Yup, don’t know what that means either, but if you compare life like dance, we are always tip-toing, dancing salsa, etc around situations like dodging bullets, whether they be real ones or symbolic ones. Isn’t life a dance? Traci divulges the information that she was given up for adoption, she only found out that she had sisters because one of her siblings contacted her after finding her through one of those DNA tests to see what nationality you are. Traci’s sister, Shannon owns a dance studio and insists on her sisters learning some barre dance. Traci’s life is quite connected with her partner on the police force married to her sister Shannon and the older brother of her best friend, Jennifer.
We are taken on a ride with Gwen rehabilitating in the hospital and then her relationship with the baby’s father. This was such a good book, I am hoping that I get approved for the next one!

After reading the first book in this series, I couldn't wait for the next book in this tale of three long lost sisters who find each other again. It would be a lie if I say I wasn't biased towards Traci. From the first book, I really liked her strong personality and the fact that she had a traumatic experience growing up unlike her sisters, made my heart ache for her even more.
I love the sisterhood mentioned in this book. The sisters gang were seriously amazing and are actually the main plot of the series. I loved each of their personalities.
Officer Traci Lucky, has gone through a lot in her life. She might seem to be tough, but beneath all those layers she has soft heart. The moment she finds young pregnant Gwen at a crack house, she feels an instant connection with her owing to her own rough teenage years.
Matt Rossi, the gynaecologist, Traci meets at the emergency room while saving Gwen is one of the most kindest guy you will ever read about. And he comes from a big loving Italian family. Though we meet Matt's family only a few times in the whole book, I instantly found myself loving them. They are clearly a no-filter, welcoming household. I also loved reading about Gwen, about the struggle she endures before and while expecting her baby boy. Gwen with her stalker ex adds more drama to the story. One thing which is in common with both the books and I absolutely loved it, was how the author adds stories of Rape and Abuse survivors along with their own POV.
The author surely delievers an well-written plot perfectly and those dance quotes were equally amazing to read.
From the first page to the last, I was so hooked on this story. Each of the characters were so lovable. The only thing that made me sad was how most of Matt and Traci's scenes happend off the pages.
However, I highly recommend this wonderful book. I am so excited for the third sister, Kimber's story! Can't wait to read it.

“Take the Lead” is the second book in Shelley’s Bridgeport collection, once again encountering three sisters who recently found each other! None of them knew that the others existed! That alone, grabs my attention immediately This book centers on one of my favorite sisters, the second sister in this triiogy . A little tough on the exterior but a caring, loving individual who takes a young pregnant girl under her wing , without hesitating.

The characters are all described in such a realisitc detailed way what the reader is caught up in the lives of each of them. I particularly loved Traci. She put on such a tough act as a police officer, however really was such a softy, wanting to solve the problems of the world. A decelopng romance interrupts Traci's well planned out life. Matt is the doctor who everyone dreans of, kind and loving. The two other sisters are also very different from one another. It was very easy to fall into their lives and walk alongside them as they struggle with many cnallenges.

The plot moves quickly with constant action and is filled with unexpected events, successful in grabbing one's attention and NOT letting go. This book was one that I could not put down! It didn't matter that the house needed cleaning and meals needed to be prepared! I was so involved in the lives of my three best friends that the world passed me by.

Shelley has done a superior job at dealing with addiction, new loves, an unexpected, somewhat unwanted child, and new family members dealing with all of this! This super storyteller used her unique style of writing to totally engage readers of any age!! Well done, Shelley!!

This is a five star book! \
Don't miss it.

This book was given to me by the publishers. The opinions and thoughts expressed are honest nd my own.

Oh my word, this book is very difficult to rate. For starters, I absolutely love the sisters and their dynamics and want nothing more than for them to find happiness. I have read the first book, and totally loved it. And I went into the book with the same expectations. Did the book disappoint? Absolutely not.

Traci and Matt's story was really pretty, especially with one being a cop and having a dark past and the other being a doctor with a big dotting family. There was charm and love spread throughout the book - romantic, familial, sisterly, and what not. Gwen's addition to the story made it worthwhile to read, she's such a sweetie 🥺

However I must say, now that I have finished it... I feel something was amiss with the story. There was a lot to unpack, what with the dynamics between Traci and Matt, Traci and her sisters, and Traci and Gwen. Packaging all that together left me wanting more of the dynamics. I still feel like I don't know either of the characters. I appreciate the focus on Traci, after all she's the main character. And I suppose a little more focus could've been given to Gwen and especially Matt.

There were some plot starters or conversation starters that were left untreated, and I believe I was on the edge the whole time figuring out what happened to that segment (apologies for the awkward phrasing, but I cannot delve deeper without giving out spoilers). Still, one thing that I appreciate the most is that *spoiler* there's no couple fighting after 80-90% of the book is finished, and, istg, that's the best thing ever. Finally someone said loud and clear that adult romances do not need teenage quarrel scenes and I'm here for it!!

I was given a review copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Traci Lucky is a survivor. She was born addicted to drugs as a result of her mom's addiction and ultimately grew up in foster care. Living outside of Cincinnati with her two natural sisters is a really big change for her. When she encounters a very pregnant teenage Gwen as part of a drug bust - she feels an immediate connection to Gwen and her baby. Traci goes above and beyond to get Gwen medical care and the help she needs to get back on her feet.

Matt is the Ob/Gyn on duty who takes care of Gwen. He is attracted to Traci and impressed at how she is helping Gwen. Matt has been extremely focused on his job and is very close with he large Italian family. His younger brother is getting married and is having a fairly formal wedding where everyone is going to waltz. Matt uses that as an opportunity to ask Traci out.

Traci is very prickly about getting close to anyone and about opening up. She's an extremely caring person and its clear she really is trying hard to be more open. Her relationship with Gwen really helps to build her relationships.

This book is really as much about Gwen and Traci's relationship as it is about Matt and Traci. A lot of Matt and Traci's time together happens off the page - which is the only thing I could have used more of in this story.

Overall this is very much a feel-good story about family - chosen and otherwise. I loved the ending and am looking forward to reading more about these sisters.

I received this book as an ARC from NetGalley, but these opinions are all my own.

Genre: Christian Fiction, Romance > Contemporary Romance, Clean Romance, Christian Romance

Featuring: Bridgeport, Ohio, West Virginia, Epigraphs, Dance Studios, Police Officers on Duty, Sibling Relationships, Doctors, Hospitals, Abusive Relationships, Women's Shelter, Drug Use,

Rating as a movie: PG-13 for adult content including physical and emotionally abuse

My rating: ⭐⭐⭐½

My thoughts: 38% - (Ch 16) - I'm not liking this book as much as the last one, there's a lot going on and little substance, reminds me a few books mixed together. I also wasn't fond of the spoilers in the opening for this book and the next one.
86% (Ch. 39) - This is taking too long. The romance is slow and thriller aspect is gone. It seems very much like a repeat of that last book and I'm disappointed Jack hasn't made a real appearance.

I didn't really care for this one. First I was disappointed there was little follow-up to the second relationship from the first book, like it just dropped off the radar. Then I wasn't impressed with the new romance, it took too long to heat up so I don't get the acceleration at the end. I don't if damsel in danger is going be a theme in this series but I was over that storyline, especially since most of the danger came from the main character not sharing intel. I also didn't like the end overall, which hurts my opinion of a story.

Recommend to others?: Yes if only to get to the other side.

I really enjoyed reading Take the Lead. It was a great escape for me during this Covid-19 pandemic.
This is the second book in this series that surrounds a dance studio. Three sisters live above the studio and their lives are full of adventure.
Traci Lucky is a police officer who was born from a drug addicted mother then placed in many foster homes and then a group home. She's opinionated due to her hard life. She also a very caring person for the same reason.
One night she pulled a pregnant teen (Gwen) from a drug bust and when she took her to the hospital she stayed with Gwen. As Dr. Matt, a handsome young obstetrician treated Gwen he was attracted to Traci, whom he found fascinating.
Dr. Matt is Italian and all his family like to get involved with each other. Matt's brother is getting married and the wedding is to be from an olden time when everyone waltzed. Matt knows he needs dance lessons so he invites Traci to be his date for the wedding and the lessons begin! Traci's sister Shannon gives them lessons and the romance starts.
When I was young I took dance lessons and I wanted to be a ballerina so as this story unfolded, I loved how all the dance moves were described.
Gwen provided a lot of danger due to her ex-boyfriend trying to find her where she was hidden and safe until he showed up.
I like the story of the sisters and how they protect Gwen and truly want to help her. I like the happy ending so much!

I loved the author’s series Bridgeport Social Club as well as book one in this series titled, Shall We Dance? and this one was just as touching, thought provoking and wonderful.
If you are new to the series, it centers around three sisters that at a very young age were given up for adoption. separated and never knowing the others existed. It was a Shannon , the main character in book one, that discovered she had sisters and reunited them in the town of Bridgeport. Each of their upbringing was totally different. From Shannon growing up as a Southern Bell, to our protagonist, Traci Lucky, growing up in the foster system.
Traci is now a cop and a very good one. During a raid she finds a pregnant teen in a corner who obviously is in need of help, and can’t stop herself from stepping in to assist . What started out as a professional assistance, becomes personal and in her quest to help Gwen, she meets Dr. Matt Rossi.
The lives of these three will be changed forever. But the road to finding hope, support and love will be one filled with some physical and emotional danger. Gwen’s ex is determined to find and harm her, while Traci’s heart has to learn to trust and open itself up to love.
Will they each find the inner peace, and love they hope for?
This was another touching story by this very talented author. Being a dancer, I specially enjoed the quotations throughout the book.
I was entrusted a copy of this book by Netgalley. The opinions expressed are solely my own.

This book had a lot to offer: a very cute romance between Traci and Matt, Gwen and her baby trying to get on the right path in life, a big and nosy family, and a strong and supportive sisterhood. I really enjoyed how all the different parts of the plot and story were balanced, as nothing felt left out or lacking development.

The chemistry between Traci and Matt was so obvious! They worked so well together and their personalities were very suited for each other. I'm really glad that they didn't resist what was growing between them because it was very obviously going somewhere - and everyone around them could see that!

The addition of Gwen to this story was really lovely. She found the support system she had been missing, and was finally able to thrive and feel true happiness. The little bit of suspense added into the story due to her abusive ex-boyfriend was also really well done, and tied in really nicely to Traci's job as a police officer.

Spending time with all the other sisters again (Shannon, Kimber, Jennifer) was really nice. I am loving how this series develops supporting characters so well, as they are truly all so important to each other that it only makes sense to have the books focus on more than just the main couple. I really love the found family vibes found in these books.

This was a heartwarming read that continues the author’s series about three sisters who were separated at birth and now have found each other and settled together in a small midwestern town.

This book’s heroine is Traci Lucky who was the one sister who was not adopted, but raised in many foster homes. She is slow to accept new people and has a certain prickliness that hides a very soft heart. When she meets a pregnant girl strung out on meth, it really triggers her because her mother was also addicted to drugs while pregnant with her. She wants to care for Gwen, but has to get over that personal history.

It helps that the doctor taking care of Gwen in the emergency room is the yummy Dr. Matt Rossi who is immediately attracted to Traci. Since he comes from a large and loving family, he just wants to share that love with Traci. As they get to know each other, their relationship deepens and Traci and her sisters also welcome Gwen into their hearts.

I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book that I received from Netgalley; however, the opinions are my own and I did not receive any compensation for my review.

I loved being back with these amazing sisters, yes, this is the second book in this series that I have read, and you might want to read the first, but this can stand alone.
Amazing DNA, and these sister's finding one another, and while we are with all three sister's, and we are updated, this story focus is on Traci Lucky, and she seems to have had the hardest life of all. She grew up in foster homes, and never was adopted. She sure has a heart for the less fortunate, and being a Bridgeport police woman, she finds a pregnant teen, on drugs, but she can't let go, and ends up being there for Gwen. Because of Gwen she meets Dr. Matt Rossi, and thus we have a sweet romance for Traci!
This story will keep you page turning, and wondering about Gwen's brother, and if the abusive boyfriend will find and hurt her. Will Matt's family accept her, and will the sister's embrace Gwen?

I received this book through Net Galley and Blackstone Publishing, and was not required to give a positive review.

Take The Lead is book two in The Dance With Me Series and focuses on Traci. It is fun getting to know these three sisters who weren’t raised together and in very different ways as they get to know each other. It makes you feel like you are listening in on their conversations. I love the dance quotes as headings for each chapter and living over a dance studio sounds fun especially when you get free dance lessons from your sister. Traci is a strong independent woman who is also smart and hides a heart of compassion. I enjoyed seeing her start to crack open her heart and letting people in. When you add a pregnant teenage girl and a nice looking Dr you have the makings for an entertaining read. I look forward to Kimbers story in book three and getting to know more of this family. I recommend reading book one first as you don’t want to miss any of this series.
I received a complimentary copy from the author. The honest review and opinions are my own and were not required.
Note to fans of Ms. Gray this is a clean read but not Christian.

** ARC kindly provided by the publisher in exchange for an honest review. **

This was a heartfelt, engaging and romantic story.
Shelley Shepard Gray is a new author to me and it won’t definitely be my last. I will read more about this series about sisters who reunited after being separated at birth.

This is the second book about Tracy Lucky, who in contrast to her last name, had a tough and rough childhood. She was a bit rough around the edge, not afraid to speak her mind even if she seemed a bit cold. Independent, fierce and a little closed off. Even after meeting her sisters and living with them it was still hard to rely on someone. A badass cop who

Until she met Dr Rossi who happened to be the doctor on call when she had to help a young girl.
A gynecologist who had such a kind heart and soul. Coming from a big family who loved to meddle into his life and nosy, so far from what she used to know.

I appreciated watching the main main characters developing their friendship and turning it into something more. It was a sweet and clean contemporary romance with good vibes and realistic situations.

The interactions between the sisters showed how much they cared about each other and wanting to be a family.

I will definitely read more about this series.

Book two if this series was just as wonderful as book one. Kept my attention throughout the story as we learn more about the sisters in this group. We follow along as we find out what makes Traci Lucky tick and how her experiences were so different than her sisters. We are introduced to Gwen and the life she has lead and how,she fits in with the other three even though she is no relation. Matt comes into Traci's life after they meet in the hospital when Gwen is brought in and the experiences that they share over the story is delightful. Matt comes from a large Italian family with an safe and secure background just the opposite of Traci's. can they make it work, will she trust him enough to let her in and how does this all connect with her sisters Shannon and Kimber.....
Read the first in the series, then the second and as with me I have the third already on hold at our library. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did...
By the way I have read it twice now...not usually my style but loved it.

I LOVE this series. It’s about three women who find out that they’re sisters and decide to live together to get to know one another. As they come to trust and rely on each other as family, their circle starts to grow.
In this book, Traci, a policewoman, takes an 18 year old pregnant girl on drugs to the hospital and becomes entwined with her and the handsome doctor, Matteo. Gwen blossoms as she realizes she is worth caring for. I found Matteo’s family fascinating and fun. I would love to see a book about them one day.
The characters are authentic. The writing style makes for effortless reading. It’s a great read. I’d highly recommend it.
Thank you to Blackstone Publishing for providing me with a free e-copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

This book was both sweet and thought provoking. It discussed heavy and important topics such as: foster care, teen pregnancy, abusive home life/relationships, and drug addiction. I enjoyed the varying storlylines and how they all weaved together.

I do wish the terminology pertaining to fostering and adoption were handled with more care. Specifically using more proper terms such as "foster mom", "adoptive mom", "biological mother" instead of "real mom". My fiance is adopted and it's been explained to me by him and his family, as well as other adoptive parents that using "real" isn't fully inclusive. Language is powerful and I believe should be used as thoughtfully and inclusively as possible.

However, the intention and heart of the story was in the right place and overall I enjoyed this book and am looking forward to reading Kimber's story ❤️
