Kate Saxee Mystery #3

The Devil Has Tattoos

Rate this book
The leaves are falling, the Halloween carnival is in full swing, and someone is robbing the residents of Branson Falls, Utah. There is no rhyme or reason to the crimes, but after an elderly widow is targeted, the town is up in arms—literally, and everyone is pointing fingers straight at the owners of the new tattoo shop, Inked AF.

Branson Tribune editor, Kate Saxee, isn’t sure who is to blame, but she’s not willing to let an angry mob run the tattoo shop out of town without investigating—and she’s not the only one with questions that need answers. Drake and Hawke, both serious boyfriend material, are very interested in why Kate has been avoiding them for weeks.

Kate’s love life and the robberies aren’t the only things on Kate’s plate. She’s also being stalked by a costume-wearing gang, helping Ella with her new online auction hobby, failing to avoid The Ladies, and trying to manage her mom’s most recent antics involving an angry goat named Humperdinck.

Between all the chaos, Kate discovers there is more to the robberies than meets the eye, and if she doesn’t figure it all out fast, someone might end up dead AF.

Destiny Ford is a pseudonym for author Angela Corbett.

As a child, Angela Corbett’s most prized possession was a set of read-along books. She used to follow along with the narrator and dream of when she would be able to read by herself. Her childhood reading habit led her to consider her future career. However, after consulting with her parents, she realized she had already exceeded hobbit height and since fairies and dragonslayers were tricky jobs to get, she decided she wanted to create worlds of her own.

Angela is a USA Today Bestselling author, and a graduate of Westminster College where she double majored in communication and sociology and minored in business. She has worked as a journalist, freelance writer, and director of communications and marketing. She lives in Utah with her extremely supportive husband and their dog, S'more. She loves classic cars, traveling, puppies, and can be bribed with The People's Coffee mochas.

She’s the author of Young Adult, New Adult, and Adult fiction—with lots of kissing. She writes under two names: Angela Corbett, and Destiny Ford.

Perfect! I am so happy that we finally have book 3! I really do understand the wait and this book is exactly what I hoped it would be. Kate, Drake, Hawke and Kate's mom provide everything I could have hoped for. Laugh out loud moments, romance, sexy men, incredible situations and good mysteries. The author is promising more in this series and I can hardly wait!

The Devil Has Tattoos was hilarious! The highlight of the laughs come from Kate's mom who can hardy do anything without it going somewhat awry; never before have emoji's, dog biscuits, or dragon's wings brought me to tears, tears of laughter that is. Kate's internal dialogue about resisting the charms of two amazing guys comes close, a least sending me into frequent giggles. Excuse the drool! Surprising robberies strike the community and small-town editor Kate Saxee chasing the criminals as well as a few costumed crime fighters. In spite of the zaniness surrounding Kate, author Destiny Ford manages to play it surprisingly straight with the story line, but oh what fun it is!

3.5* This is a cute series with humor and over-the-top personalizes for some of the cast of characters. A good escape. I’m a little tired of love triangles in the vein of Janet Evanovich, but Kate at least defines her difficulties with her choices well. I will keep reading the series, but I hope the triangle gets worked out quickly so we can enjoy the zany people and mysteries.

Mob, thieves, and religion

This is a series I hope won't end. Its fun, clean but with a bit of sexual tension and gods mysteries. It has taken me into a state and religion I know nothing about and has surprised me. I can't wait for the next book in the series.

This book was well worth the wait! The third book in this series does not disappoint. If you are a fan of the first two you will love this one as well. Spoiler alert - there will be a fourth book and I can't wait to see where it picks back up. If you are new to this series, this is very well written for those who like a good mystery with a little love/lust thrown in there. Destiny Ford/Angela Corbett has created such great characters in this book that they become your family and you want to know every part of their lives. I have read all her series/books and none of them disappoint. If this isn't your flavor of reading, try one of her other series as they are all different but just as well written and leaving you wanting the next book out ASAP!

The third installment of the Kate Saxee series is filled to the brim with the small town quirky charm that made the first two books hard to put down. With everything from superheroes to casserole bandits, this book was as good as the first. The second installment suffered a lull that often happens in series, meaning I always give them another chance as long as it's still enjoyable. Besides, they almost always get me with the romance angle.
I'm a sucker for a love triangle, and if you were hoping for a resolution to Kate's steamy dilemma, the only thing that happens is it gets steamier and more complicated. I've read several cozy mystery series, and this one has toed the line on dreaminess. They're usually more hallmark channel and this one edges onto lifetime or even HBO. I don't mind it, even though I prefer clean romances. They don't really cross the line and I'd I'm already invested; I'll forgive a lot.
Ford has definitely sharpened her mystery writing skills in this third book. The twist at the end was not obvious. While I had my suspicions at one point, they were so unbelievable that I disregarded them. So an excellent misdirect.
Even though she focused on her mystery, she didn't sacrifice her character development. We met several new characters, the quirky characters don't disappoint, and the small town culture continues to strain Kate's worldly views. And, of course, Kate's mom is as lovable and zany as ever.
While the story clearly had a message, Ford conveyed it in a far less preachy and/or judgmental tone than in her second book. She returned to the fun, enjoyable experience that was her first book. Overall, she's evolved her writing, character development, and mystery chops all to the next level.
I remain pleased that an ad on my Kindle introduced me to the series and look forward to when Ms. Ford takes us on more adventures with our editor/amateur sleuth and further explores the culture of this small fictional town in Utah.

Fun read with humor , clever and interesting

Really enjoyed this series of books. Destiny Ford aka Angela Corbit was a new author for me. I bought Android the first book, ' The Devil drinks Coffee 'on the basis of the description including LOL. Got hooked on the series and the crazy situations Kate the main character, the editor/ reporter for a small town daily paper in Utah . The town is full of stock Norman's and the two most eligible handsome, built men in town both want to date Kate. And a gang of jealous women constantly write mean often highly exaggerated stories about Kate and presume she Mus be s sex goddess to attack these two guys. a
anyway Angela please write more Law Sauce books in the meantime I will read somr of your other adult books .

I love this series. I love the snark, the humor, and the amazing situations that Kate and her mother Sophie manage to find themselves in. I have been looking forward to this latest installment in the series for a while. I was so happy to finally get a chance to read on about Branson, Utah and its inhabitants. Warning: this does end on a relationship cliffhanger. Hopefully we will find out the results soon!

I really enjoy this series, and this book was no exception. Set in Utah, the main character has to deal with all sorts of situations, including some of the Church's prohibitions against things like coffee, alcohol, and in this book, tattoos. That is, of course, in addition to murder. There are all kinds of clues leading in all kinds of directions, but eventually the murderer is unmasked, and justice prevails.

I love Kate Saxee!!! Thank you for writing another book to the series. Kate is such a real character, someone you would want to be friends with. The mystery was pretty interesting with some twists and turns I didn’t see coming. I’m torn, just like Kate, between the two male love interests. I can’t wait to see who she’ll choose. Can’t wait to read the next one.

I enjoyed the actual plot, but too much of the book seemed aimed at a personal dislike of the mormon church. Maybe if something positive were said instead of only negative. Most people around me are southern Baptist so I would not enjoy a book that was one sided only pointing out their church members faults either unless it was important to the plot.

I really enjoy “The Devil” series by Angela Corbett. I received the first one because it was written by a friends relative and enjoyed it a lot. They are little mystery, a little romance, and a lot comedy situations. They do contain a lot of talk about the LDS church as the setting is small town Utah, which I honestly really relate to growing up in a similar Idaho town. Great read. 3/5

Third book in the series, but I accidentally skipped the 2nd book. Cute, easy read. Fairly wholesome and clean romantic writing (based in Utah, so imply as you see fit).

1 Star - DNF
2 Stars - Finished but a genuine waste of time
3 Stars - Enjoyed while reading, no staying power
4 Stars - Enjoyed WITH staying power
5 Stars - Resonated in my soul and I continue to think about the book

Another great book in this series. Looking forward to the next book and which non-boyfriends will come out on top or if they both stay in the non-boyfriends status.

Mysteriously Delightful

Another great addition to the Kate Saxee series. This book has it all from mystery to multiple love interest to laugh out loud moments. If Brandon Falls was a real town I would move there in a heart beat just so I could watch what would happen next.

Loved book 3 in the series!! My favorite character is Kate's mom - she's a trip. This book has great laugh out loud moments, plenty of romance with sexy men and great mysteries. I read this way too quickly and didn't want it to end! I look forward to book 4. I totally recommend.

Enjoyable read!

Great plotting with enough twists and tangles I never figure them out till the exciting end! I also appreciate the story line never dips into the disturbing unexpectedly as some novels do leaving me uncomfortable instead of well entertained.

This entire series was such a good read! It was funny, entertaining and a bit suspenseful because you just never knew what to expect from Kate and her love life or her mom lol! This book does a great job of encompassing so many different angles that you just can’t put it down.

I want more

A little predictable but with enough twists to keep it interesting. I want more so I can see which hunk Kate walked away with at the end of this one. After the description of her puppy, I want one.

Considerably tamer than previous books but filled more with sexual tension between Kate and both Drake and Hawke. There were some pretty funny scenes but overall it felt rather mellow with no substantial drama and the ending was rather disappointing. I liked it but wasn't ecstatic.

The series are good enough. they are light and entertaining. But this third book is the most unsatisfying of three. The author inserts some sexy encounter with 2 love interest, but until the end I don't know whom the h picks - darn!

Another fun read with Kate Saxee trying to solve another mystery and juggling her two non-boyfriends Hawke and Drake. Does she finally choose a man? I hope we don’t have to wait another 6 years for the next installment.

Fantastic

This is quite a series and I’m a little sad that it’s been a while since this latest book has been written. The mystery is always brilliant and the chemistry between our heroine and her two heroes, is amazing. I hope there will be more soon.

Book 3

I've read the series . It's pretty funny. Sophie is hilarious. I just didn't care for the cliffy at the end. I'm really hoping that this author decides to get the next book out soon. If the series is done someone should post about it
