We are back with another Corbin and Kinley special! yay!

Fact 1 Kinley is a weak heroin
Fact 2 Corbin is a fucking selfish hero
Fact 3 I deeply despise both of them
Fact 4 The ONLY smart people in this duet were Kinley’s family.

”You’re pregnant with a married man’s baby. A man who didn’t choose you, Kinley. I’m sorry if that’s hard to hear, but you need to hear it. It doesn’t matter what your brother said to him. He should have looked past it and worked through it with you if it meant that much to him. I’m glad it’s not worse, but that doesn’t mean it’s not nothing.”

CLAPS FOR KINLEY’S MOTHER. This woman here is spitting facts.

description

Now lets just summarize this entire duet

- Cordin and Kinley meet and fall in love
- Cordin wants to pursue acting but is struggling to achieve his goal but Kinley is by his side being his number one cheerleader
- Cordin gets his acting break and becomes to busy for Kinley
- When he FINALLY decides to come back to town and meet Kinley, he believes some nonsense Kinley’s brother feeds him, LIKE KINLEY REPEATEDLY TOLD YOU SHE HAS NO FEELINGS FOR ZACH! YOU WERE SO BUTT HURT THE YOU COULDN’T EVEN GO AND SPEAK TO HER ABOUT THIS.
- Then the nonsense continues, Cordin finds someone else and gets married.
- Cordin meets Kinley again in the present, realizes he just married Lena to fill this void created by Kinley? And that he actually doesn't really love Lena as much as he loves Kinley? I'm sorry boo, but weren’t you the one saying “people think me and Lena have not even gotten over our honeymoon phase, we fell in love and in under 6 months got married"
- Anyway, Kinley and Cordin meet again and have sex. Twice. WHILE HE IS MARRIED TO SOMEONE ELSE. But this was the whole purpose of this book so let’s ignore this point.
- The only reason they both stopped at sex number two was because pictures of them together got snapped and Kinley had to go back home instead.
- Cordin goes to Kinley and tells her that him and Lena are getting a divorce. All is forgiven. It’s them against the world now. And they are back to fucking. Not going to wait for Lena to sign the divorce papers. Not going to let Cordin at least fight for Kinley, even for a little bit. All is forgiven.
- When smart people try to knock some sense into Kinley, she just proves further of what an airhead she is

“I just want you guys to know that this is happening and I’m sorry for disappointing you,” I say instead, voice drained of all emotion. There’s nothing left in me at this point and I don’t know how to take that. “Sometimes we choose to do things no matter the consequences because we know we’ll withstand the storm. And I believe that to be true with us. We’re having a baby, and I’d like all of you to be part of his or her life when the time comes.” I make a point to look at Gavin, whose eyes are dark. “But you’re going to have to accept that this is final regardless of your own personal opinions because I love Corbin and I love our and I love our baby we created despite the destruction.”

2 ☹️☹️⭐️s

I skipped more than a few past time chapters and still struggled to finish this book.
The story lacked emotions and the plot was full of the mess created by the main characters that bored me quite enough.
There wasn’t something much appealing as to love or be attracted by Corbin and Kinley.
Regarding the ending, it was too abrupt and it was difficult to believe how all that turmoil was put aside and reached the HEA!
I expected from this duet strong and deep feelings just as to steal my heart, but unfortunately earned neither...

All the same issues are still present in second book for me. Yes, Corbin was more selfless in this book, but it was kind of too late for me bc he was just so horrible in the first book. A lot of his amends felt forced and what little connection I felt to the couple in the first book was gone in this book. I think because the Parker past sections just kept taking me out of it, and having to hear so much about Lena as well. I think on a total picture scale I dont like how much extra information the author gives about past loves they had, it weakens their connection for me. I get it's supposed to show they are inevitable, but it just annoys me to hear how much he loved lena at the beginning and couldnt keep his hands off her when we learn in this book Kinley had to try hard to be attracted to someone else. It's just not what I like to read in a romance book. Above all tho I just think why he left her was weak, he didnt fight for her at all but managed to be with another woman for six years, mostly (per him, extra info) in the honeymoon stage! Even after he was posing for pictures with Lena and she was barfing on a floor he got to sweep back in, and didnt have to fight for her. The author took the cliche route of making Lena horrible and tried to downplay his love for her, but his inner thoughts were all over the place in regards to her (he loves her, he doesnt, he never did, he did at the beginning etc), which is why you just dont make a hero be with an OW that long and marry her. That digs a hole you will never get out of bc you have to simultaneously downplay the marriage and still make him love her so he doesnt look like an ass.

This book all boils down to a hero getting to have his fun and his cake and eat it too. I just dont believe he really suffered in their separation like she did, and that is the worst sin a second chance romance can make.

Also, am I the only one really turned off by the sexual scenes with Corbin and Lena in this book? And the fact Kinley didnt know about them? Like she basically jerked him off and gave him a blowjob, yeah he pushed her off but he was hard and getting off on it, and it seems he had to really try hard NOT to get off on it. If I were Kinley I would want to know that happened, like at least you could have had him in a dream about Kinley before he woke up. And again I dont need to know how well Lena can take his dick in her mouth, WHY DO I WANT TO KNOW THAT???? What narrative purpose does it provide? And then to have Kinley be in the same condo with him it happened in, where he and Lena used to have sex as he told us in his thoughts which side of the bed was hers, see what I mean about extra info, think before you write! Why do I need to know every time he notices her breasts or how tight her clothes are? Or how tone he finds her arms? Ugh I just dont understand authors sometimes!

And him being nominated for TWO Oscars 🙄 I'm glad he deemed Kinley special enough to take her to his vanity night since Lena and Sabrina got all his other firsts. Oh I am sorry he did knock her up first as an OW and made her spend the first part of her pregnancy alone and devastated while he got attempted blowjobs and photo ops! Kinley should have won an Oscar for writing the movie bc of how he almost destroyed her career, but even in fiction a woman can't win a writing Oscar 🙃

This is where I want to be – where my little birds are.

It’s a wrap!

And to be honest, I’m sitting here rather unaffected. Although I read the pretty words, the real feels I anticipated were missing. This installment lost steam and depth. Zipping back and forth from past to present didn’t work as well in this installment. The emphasis on the second chance for Corbin and Kinley and their current plight didn’t get the attention it demanded or deserved. I expected much more. In my opinion, the duet easily could have been a standalone and been just as effective.

Once again, as I mentioned above, the story alternates between past and present, and is told in dual points of view by Corbin and Kinley. Readers get more of the back stories for both Kinley’s and Corbin’s years while they were apart. Some of it felt like plain old page-filler, and I would have enjoyed more of the limelight remaining on the two protagonists together solving the problems they face in the present.

The family dynamics were out of whack in Kinley’s home. Kinley’s mom and brother were not very likable; however her brother almost redeemed himself towards the end. The mom was so critical and negative seeming to always favor her over-the-top opinionated and protective son over her daughter. There were a lot of times both mom and brother should have kept their mouths shut.

And Lena Dasani, Corbin’s wife was just what one might expect from a selfish, wealthy super model. She didn’t really want Corbin, but she didn’t want anyone else to have him either. She was a bit nasty and vindictive and was easy to dislike. Thankfully, we didn't see much of her.

Both books seemed very short – probably one standalone would have served them well and been just as effective. Taken together, the duet was not one I loved or hated. For me, it certainly didn’t live up to the pre-release hype. The rush to the end in the finale was such a disappointment. Even though the road was long and difficult and certainly filled with mistakes, Corbin and Kinley are finally flying together. Nothing especially breathtaking, thrilling or memorable –- but rather ho-hum with a happy-for-now type prologue.

Emotional | Second Chances | Little Bird Duet #2

Sigh. B. Celeste has truly taken me along this emotional journey and had me invested in every page. This duet, while not always easy to read as the characters make some questionable choices, is one of raw beauty. Not every romance needs to be perfect and not all fictional characters need to make the right choices, and this is what B. Celeste gives us. Flawed, realistic, and emotionally captivating reads with characters who tear their own hearts out in the pursuit of happiness. This duet really ended in the best of ways and while it took a little while (and a lot of tears) to get there the journey was worth it.

I recommend this authors books to all romance readers. Some may not care for the characters actions and that’s okay- not every book is going to be a fit for all readers- but some may see the beauty in the flaws like I do. So, if you can look past infidelity in romances (even though the lines of infidelity are really blurred) and enjoy an epic romance, then read this book! I loved the entire duet.

4.5 “Little Bird” Stars

I couldn’t wait to get my hands on this book. I needed the conclusion of this duet as soon as I finished the first book. I needed to know if Kinley and Corbin would finally make it work and get the happy ending they both deserved and have been waiting forever to get.

Where the Little Birds Are picks up right where Where the Little Birds Go left off. Not knowing where Kinley and Corbin’s story would lead, I didn’t know what to expect, but obviously wanting more than anything for them to end up together.

Just like in the first book, this book also gives us past chapters as well as present chapters. We get to learn more about Kinley and what her life was like once Corbin left. It wasn’t easy, and she tried her best to move on, but knowing in the back of her mind she’d never be able to forget the boy with the silver eyes.

I loved how Kinley and Corbin both grew in this installment. Kinley found her voice and strength and I admired her for that. And Corbin didn’t back down and became exactly who I knew he could be. Kinley and Corbin are imperfectly perfect for each other. They’ve survived heartbreak and pain which they had to battle in order to get them to the right place. They were inevitable right from the beginning and watching their love story unfold is one for the books.

Where the Little Birds Are is raw and full of angst, sorrow and redemption. Kinley and Corbin fought for what they wanted and didn’t back down. It was the perfect ending to their story—one in which I won’t soon forget of Corbin and his Little Bird.

I really enjoyed the first book of this duet and was excited to get the conclusion to Kinley and Corbin’s story. Sadly I think I let my expectations get the better of me. Corbin and Kinley share a lot of history and it has had a profound impact on both of them and their journey since they met at seventeen. That connection and history didn’t translate into the story in the sequel which I felt ran in circles and felt repetitive. It felt like I was reading book 1 again since they kept making the same mistakes. I would like to have seen some growth from Corbin and Kinley. When they finally did do something about the situation they were in it made the story feel rushed which was such a shame. Kinley’s flashbacks were irrelevant to me and I couldn’t see the purpose.
I would have liked or expected more romance instead the Hollywood drama cause these two characters had so much potential. At least Corbin and his Little Bird got their HEA.

Gosh, I really loved the characters in this story. I was so proud of Corbin by the time this story ended.
To be honest, I enjoyed book 1 but I really wasn't sure what direction that the second book would go and I was pleasantly surprised. Hollywood romances aren't my favorite thing to read but this was a low-key version of Hollywood and I thought it worked. Really happy with how the story concluded.

“You always chose yourself, even when you made pretty promises. They were just words and I always knew it. It was my fault for falling for them.”

The Little Bird Duet is a NA/YA second chance Hollywood romance that is told from duel POVs.

I really enjoyed this duet! It had its swoon worthy moments mixed in with a little drama and heartbreak. I loved the development of Corbin and Kinley’s relationship throughout both books and how they grew as individuals. I recommend this read to anyone who loves a heartbreaking but sweet romance.

“...We can’t start the next chapter if we keep re-reading the last one.”

This duet is well written but the emotion I felt most while reading these books was dread. I was holding my breath every chapter thinking what is Corbin going to do next that will hurt Kinley and betray her love.

I don’t think Corbin redeemed himself in this book(all he did was show up), if anything it emphasises that he left Kinley without regret with the ‘it was what I needed at the time’ reasoning. Truthfully I’m not sure why he came back-his POVs which are especially damning show he was living an empty life but there was nothing about missing Kinley.

Kinley also annoyed me in this book. She was capable of anger but it was all directed at her family and none at Corbin who rightfully deserved it. Her blind devotion and low self esteem when it came to romantic relationships(first with Corbin and then Parker)honestly worried me.

Lastly I know the ‘we’re inevitable’ thing was meant to be romantic but to me it translated to Corbin can(and knows)he can mess up as many times as he wants and Kinley will take him back regardless of the circumstances.

I'm so thankful B. Celeste didn't make us wait that long for Corbin and Kinley's conclusion. I was FREAKING out at the way Where the Little Birds Go ended.

I have to admit, and it physically PAINS me to write this, but I felt let down with Where the Little Birds Are. Some moments felt rushed, some scenes weren't needed, and some things were missing. I felt like romance between Corbin and Kinley was seriously lacking. We definitely needed more of them!!!

Now don't get me wrong, I still enjoyed this one. I just didn't enjoy it as much as the first one. It always held my attention and not once did I consider skimming it, which I often do when I lose interest.

I can't tell you how excited I am to see what forbidden love story B. Celeste will give us next!!!

Where The Little Birds Are is the conclusion to the Little Bird Duet. I really loved this book. I loved the glimpses of the past and present as well as the character POV changes. The story continues from close to where we left them in Where The Little Birds Go.

I had the hardest time putting this one down especially in the last half. I had a BAD BAD feeling about what was going to happen. And thankfully I was wrong.

This second chance romance/forbidden love totally captivated me and really had me thinking about a lot of things. Would I do the same in their positions? Maybe, maybe not.

I seriously sweated bullets waiting for book 2 of Corbin and Kinley’s love story to appear on my kindle. It is everything and more. The emotion that B. Celeste pulls from me in such a short span of pages is unreal. Their love story is raw, real, turbulent, and worthy of being fought for. They are willing to go to hell and back to finally be together and I thought Corbin was swoony before - holy crap, the man brought the swoon. Seeing him react to everything gave me all the feels.

Upon first glance you think oh what a gorgeous cover, but ultimately you have no idea what this book or duet is about until you look at the blurb. The cover gives nothing away about all the sweet yet taboo moments this book includes.
Where the Little Birds Are is the 2nd book in the Little Birds Duet! If you haven't read book 1; Where the Little Birds Go, go read it and then come back.

Because this is a sequel and I don't want to give out too much without spoiling the first book for you; I'll be pretty vague in my review.

Corbin & Kinley spent years together as teenagers and throughout those years; their biggest supporters were each other. These two kids fell deep and hard; but sometimes life has plans that are bigger than us and those we love. Those dreams sometimes take us away from the ones we love most. However, life can bring us back together if we are meant to be. While Kinley is accomplishing her own dreams it brought her back to the boy she loved with all her little teenage heart. Now it's not their dreams standing in their way...but people.

I was a bit sad that it seemed the ending was kind of rushed, I would have like to have gotten just a bit more at the end.
Overall, I loved this second chance love story. In a way I can relate to the characters in this story. Isn't it amazing how a reader can find bits and pieces of themselves in characters in books. I truly love being able to relate to a character and know that I felt what they feel too. Barbara's books always find a way to bury themselves deep inside my soul in one way or another and I absolutely LOVE that!

I liked this one a little bit more than the first one but I’ve decided this duet really wasn’t for me. I do really like B. Celeste’s writing and have enjoyed some of her other books but I just couldn’t connect with the characters here. I didn’t like Corbin at all and struggled with Kinley for the most part. Their connection didn’t feel genuine to me in the present chapters, and since both books were fairly short I felt like everything was rushed and their was no real development of their relationship. It felt like it was all of 2 days after being ghosted for a decade for them to fall into bed together and all be forgiven but it didn’t really seem believable to me and I’m the most romantic gal going!

I also thought the inclusion of Parker was a bit pointless? Like I get the idea that there was no one else for Kinley but Corbin but it just seemed a bit random and didn’t really add anything imo.

Definitely not my fave read lately but I look forward to reading more by the author! This one just wasn’t for me.

Though the first book was predictable, this book did surprise me a few times with some of the decisions of the characters. I was impressed and then proud of some of their reasoning. If you did enjoy the first book, you should definitely read the second one because it is a beautiful journey back.

If you are thinking of whether to take on this duet, beware there is infidelity and it is romanticised so if that triggers you, please do not read it. Otherwise, you should try it if you are all for a second chance romance with a HEA.

’Where The Little Birds Are’
Book Two in the Little Birds Duet.

Every time I turn past the cover of a B. Celeste book & begin to move on to the beginning words of chapter one, I feel home. A sense of comfort covers me in delicious anticipation as I begin to read the opening sentence.

I'll never tire of the curiosity that Celeste instils in me each time I read one of her novels. I know I’m safe within the confines of the world she's created & she never disappoints. She’ll always be a ’One-Click’ wonder for me.

’Where The Little Birds Are’, is the second book in the ’Little Birds Duet.’

In Where The Little Birds Go, we meet Corbin & Kinley & begin discovering the story of how they meet in high school.

Corbin moves to Lincoln in his senior year & Kinley is the girl who has to show him around the school. She's a year or two younger than Corbin, but their relationship blossoms from friendship to lovers & so begins a love story that is plagued by misunderstandings, missed opportunities & half-truths. These things are what separates them for nine years. But eventually, time & circumstance bring them back together, challenging all the things they thought they knew.

Long story short, Corbin is now a huge movie star & Kinley a best selling author. Kinley's book is being made into a movie & Corbin is the male lead. Kinley originally refuses to accept him as the male lead, but eventually concedes for the betterment of her book & her career.

Old feelings resurface & again Corbin & Kinley are left with difficult decisions. Corbin is married to a woman he no longer loves & Kinley is still reeling from unresolved questions & feelings from their past.

Corbin is the last person she wants playing the male lead to a book that is based on their relationship that he left behind. Let alone being on set & watching it played out with a gorgeous actress.

When Corbin left Lincoln after senior year, he left Kinley, he left her broken. No phone calls, no messages, silence. He promised her he’d come back for her.

The hardest thing for Kinley? Realising that she never stopped loving him.

Nine years of pretending like I let go is almost a decade spent suffering. I still choke on the bitter pill I swallowed when I admitted to myself that I still love Corbin.

New dynamics & discoveries come into book two. Kinley’s brother Gavin, never told her that Corbin came back for her as promised. He also lied to Corbin by alluding to the fact that Kinley had moved on with one of Corbin’s best friends. Successfully keeping them apart & in the dark.

Here is where the misunderstandings throw a spanner in the works, separating them for nine years. Separating them from the truth.

If only Kinley had known, maybe things would've been different. Instead, she hated him. He’d replaced her so easily. Maybe if Corbin had known, he wouldn't be stuck in a loveless marriage, he wouldn't be stuck period. Rock, meet hard place.

I’d been warned, but I ignored the signs. All or nothing—that’s what I gave. He took all. I got nothing.

The first book surrounds the reintroduction of old feelings & the rekindling of those feelings once their thrust into sharing the same breathing space on set.

They rediscover one another & are left to sneaking around. Kinley resents what their relationship is built on. New secrets, new lies. She's the other woman. She can't do this.

I’ve acknowledged that I’m this person now—the one who cheats, lies and destroys people’s lives. But is his destroyed?... He doesn’t look destroyed. The only life I’ve ruined is my own.

Kinley finds herself struggling with the Corbin of now, movie star Corbin & everything that comes along with him. She has trust issues & can't believe she’s fallen for the boy with the silver eyes again. So she backs away & isolates, refusing Corbin’s calls & messages. But Corbin refuses to let go.

”There’s more passion in hate, more fire,” he whispers against my lobe. “So, maybe you do hate me and my logic. But every time you say I hate you, I’ll know you burn for me.”

In the second book, we see Corbin & Kinley navigating rumours, the media, Corbin's wife, their families & one another. They have to publicly face what they've done & they're lives are put on blast.

Can Kinley begin to let go of the past & her guilt, & can Corbin convince Kinley that she is his inevitable? His end game?

”Things don’t just happen by coincidence. You flew to me. Broken wing or not, you found your way back to me.”

I loved Where Little Birds Are. I liked the progression of both characters & the fact that even though their love was hard, it was one that would prevail, grow & strengthen, as everything around them pushed, pulled & threatened to tear them apart.

Any questions that you may have had in book one are answered & played out in book two. You’ll turn the last page feeling complete. All loose ends are tied up & the future is briefly touched upon to satisfy the reader with a glimpse of how Corbin & Kinley come out the other side.

You won't be disappointed with the Little Birds Duet. I highly recommend this if you appreciate an easy read, one that flows in & out of past & present, filling in holes along the way & ultimately delivering a complete & well-rounded story.

There's a splash of angst, push-pull, love-hate, second chance love & a cat.

After finishing Where the Little Birds Go I wanted to see how the journey would play out but these characters fell a little flat -and ultimately frustrated the living hell out of me- because they refused to properly communicate with each other and instead relied on big speeches of their love.

Idk but i just sobbed😭 ughh the longing between this two!!
i loved that the 2nd book is just as easy to read just like the 1st one, yk how like other books that comes with a 2nd book seems to fall flat and boring.... sometimes it stirs away from the very story that the 1st book was about. This book though? it was everything i wanted to know the closure that i wanted from the 1st book, although i wish she should've just made this as 1 book instead of 2 but what do i know🤷🏻‍♀️

I loved book 2 so much more than book 1. Book 1 left me feeling very jaded about Corbin and unsure if he could redeem himself. The beginning of book 2 made me feel like no way he was redeeming himself. But he sure did. Little did we know that he was working behind the scenes to give him and Kinley the future they deserved.

Okay

I was kind of disappointed with part 2. The first half was kind of boring and then there's a big gap at the end like the author just wanted to get it over and done with. The characters felt flat this time around. Despite that, I liked the epilogue.
