Buried on the Fens A skeleton is found in a shallow grave in the churchyard. But this was not an official burial. The victim was murdered decades ago. At the same time, Detective Nikki Galena and her team are investigating the brutal slaying of local businesswoman Madeline Prospero. She was a member of an exclusive and secretive drinking club called The Briar Patch. But they’ve got no suspects and no one is telling them the truth.
Thieves on the Fens DI Nikki Galena gets a series of anonymous calls. She is told the place, time, and who will die. But the messages are in a secret language used only by villains. Nikki and her team must decode the riddles and work out where the threats are coming from. Meanwhile, the fens have been hit by a series of “designer burglaries.” It appears that a new gang of thieves are stealing to order. And things get very close to home when a friend of Nikki’s mother dies suddenly and perhaps suspiciously.
Captive on the Fens The fens are burning and Detective Nikki Galena faces a cat-and-mouse battle with a killer arsonist. Someone is lighting fires. First they target homes and businesses, but then a body is found at one of the crime scenes. More fires are lit. And at each one a single person dies. But the victims have led spotless lives and apparently there’s no connection between them. Meanwhile, the town is facing a very peculiar threat from a group of sinister Satanists led by a charismatic businessman.
Joy Ellis grew up in Kent but moved to London when she won an apprenticeship with the prestigious Mayfair florist, Constance Spry Ltd. Having run her own flower shop in Weybridge for many years, Ellis then worked as a bookseller until a trip to the Greek island of Skyros, where she took part in a writer's workshop with Sue Townsend, encouraged her to write her own books. Joy soon after moved to the Lincolnshire Fens, where she has spent many of years living among the countryside accompanied by her partner, Jacqueline, and her variety of springer spaniels. After many years of writing, Jasper Joffe, from Joffe Books, discovered Joy's work and approached her with the offer of becoming her new publisher. This new relationship introduced Joy's work to the fascinating world of ebooks and audible listening. Since their partnership, Joy's success has grown further than she could have ever imagined. She has recently celebrated her 10th UK No.1 book on the Amazon 'Best Sellers' chart, with her 9th instalment in the Jackman & Evans series, Solace House. Joy boasts a staggering estimated total over 3.4 million copies sold worldwide, and became a short-listed nominee at the British Book Awards, 2021.
These follow on in the series and all need to be read in order. The relationship that just gets better and better with Nikki and the team. And more importantly the relationship between Nikki and her birth mother, Eve, as well as the difficult one with Joseph. No spoilers but these are 3 stories that are just great to read and you never know where you will be taken next in the quest for the truth. Moments of light relief appear from time to time in the guise of Rory, the Home Office Pathologist, or Eve and her female friends. Cannot fault this series at all.
the stories just keep coming, with it's of twists and turns, around very corner, the main characters, in every book, their stories move on as well. As all the books have a complete story, you could read them in any order, however as mentioned before the characters stories would make more sense of read in order. On to book 10, all stories, in all 9 books, have kept my interest from start to end.
These three Nikki Galena mysteries are really great reads, just like the first six mysteries in the series. I've been a fan of Joy Ellis and the Nikki Galena series since I read the first in the series. All are well worth reading and I plan to read the remaining mysteries in the series.
Thoroughly enjoyed books 1 thru 9. The characters are just as flawed as you would expect people to be. No one is movie star gorgeous. So we have regular people working diligently at their jobs, hunting down clues, finding connections. Definitely good reads.
I loved this book. I have read all the series in order. Just started to read the 10th and bought the 11th yesterday. When I finished those I am going to try some other books by Joy Ellis. I would recommend as they are a really good read.
A diverse cast of characters the exploration of their foibles and relationships underpin an exciting story I thoroughly recommend this book and this author. You will be well rewarded.

Good series. Developing very well with each story you get to know the people better and this adds to the fun. Not too much back story line to bring newbies uptodate so the book flows nicely.
Quite complex story lines that grow as the book goes on. R really enjoy this series.

Just to my liking. Joy Ellis has you interested from the start and the tale just keeps on giving right to the end. I enjoyed binge reading all nine books!
Absolutely marvelous. These 3 books are unputdownable . They keep you in suspense all the way through. Nikkei Galena has become part of the family. Highly recommended.
