Ra the Mighty considers himself a detective, so when Pharaoh's heir to the throne goes missing, he considers it his duty to solve this case.
I didn't read any other installment of this series before but was able to understand everything regardless. It's pretty self-explanatory. Ra has an overestimation of his own self-importance, either wants to sleep or to eat, grumbles about children but secretly loves them.
His two best friends are Miyu, a kitchen cat, and Khepris, a dung beatle.
I didn't expect this to be historical fiction, but it fits nicely together and I'd love to see more of this series. Enjoyable for children and bigger readers alike.

The world's best - and most spoiled - cat detective does it again! My second favorite book in the series. I also enjoyed the author's footnote with her research about Egyptian culture.

Another great book in this series! The characters are absolutely delightful and I continue to love them more. The mysteries are fun and fairly light. This one is the most scary/violent of them all; someone dies, but it is off screen and my fairly sensitive kids still loved the book. And now we have a new favorite bird!

I don't know who loves Ra-books more - me or my kids. There is everything inside: family love, friendship, adventure, mistery, thrilling moments and also a lot of funny comments and situations.
You simply cannot ignore those characters. We fell in love with Ra, Miu and Khepri. The fact that everything is set in ancient Egypt makes the book even more interesting.

Pogromca krokodyli. Ra Wszechmocny. Tom 3
Uwielbiam opowiadać o książkach nie tylko dla dorosłych, ale też dla tych młodszych miłośników literatury. Tym razem przychodzę z kolejnym patronatem, którego razem z Helenką chcemy polecić nie tylko przez towarzystwo, z którymi można „beczkę soli zjeść”, ale przy, których nie będziesz się nudzić, a mowa o „Ra Wszechmocny. Pogromca krokodyli” tom 3.
Z jednej strony można by napisać „o losie co tym razem wywinęli” albo co ich spotkało, lecz jestem zdania, że mają dziwny dar wplątywania się w niezłą kabałę. Jeżeli jesteś świeżakiem i nie znasz tej fantastycznej trójki, jakimi są Kot Ra, chrabąszcz Chepri i Miu (kotka i przyjaciółka tej dwójki) to śmiało możesz zacząć od tej części, bo w każdym tomie dzieje się coś innego, lecz, jeżeli chcesz wiedzieć, jakim cudem Miu trafiła do grupy Ra i Chepriego to koniecznie zacznij od pierwszego tomu.
Wracając do tomu trzeciego to akcja dzieje się poza pałacem Faraona, a mianowicie nasza ekipa ruszyła w rejs statkiem po nilu i mają (na prośbę Faraona) zaopiekować się jego dziećmi. Podczas wizyty w pałacu żony (Satiah) Faraona znika jego syn, a może uciekł? Ktoś go porwał? No tego nie zdradzę, ale nie muszę pisać, żebyście wiedzieli, że będzie wielkie szukanie syna Faraona. Oczywiście i w tej części nasz Ra momentami rozbraja swoją niezdarnością do łez, ale na szczęście nie robi tego specjalnie, lecz w rozdziale trzecim o mały włos, a miałby spotkanie pierwszego stopnia z paszczą krokodyla.
Naszą ekipę czeka nie tylko przygoda, ale zagadka, która niesie ze sobą pewną tajemnicę, a niektórzy ludzie w pałacu nie są zbyt życzliwi. Nasza ekipa pozna też wiele innych ciekawych i nieciekawych ludzi, czy stworzeń, ale jak to się wszystko ułoży tego zdradzić wam nie mogę, ale napiszę, że będzie dużo przytulasów i przebieranek przez Kiya. Spotkasz zwierzyniec, o jakim można pomarzyć, ale czy więzienie zwierząt w celach kolekcjonerskich jest takie fajne? Faraona czeka niebezpieczeństwo, które pewna bliska mu osobą szykuje dla niego, lecz, mając taką ekipę detektywistyczną, jaką jest Ra, Chepri i Miu ze świecą szukać.
Tak jak przy poprzednich tomach tak i tutaj zachęcam do czytania razem z dziećmi, chociaż i One same będą w zdolne same zacząć przygodę z czytaniem, ponieważ czcionka jest duża co powoduje, że szybko się czyta i nie męczy oczu. Ahoy there mateys! This series was recommended to me by the Audible Plus algorithm because of the middle grade I was listening to. The Pharaoh's cat solving crimes sounded fun and it was. The series has three books and is read by Ron Butler. I really enjoyed them but book 2 was the weakest by a little bit. Ra the Cat has a best friend that is a dung beetle named Khepri. Khepri is the one that convinces the duo to solve the crime because a servant girl is taking the blame for stealing an amulet. Of course she is innocent. The second book involves a tomb robbery and the third book has a missing child. I love that the books teach children simple Egyptian facts in a fun way. I love Ra and his pampered attitude. I really enjoyed the audio narration. I am glad the robots gave me this one to try. Arrr!

Pharaoh's son Dedi goes missing after he and sister Kiya are sent to stay with Satiah, one of Pharaoh's wives. The purpose is to keep them safe from a dangerous but secret situation. It's up to Ra and his co-detectives beetle Khepri and cat Miu to find him - and then Kiya when she disappears also. There is also a second mystery concerning baby animals missing from Satiah's zoo, including the prince of the crocodiles. And wow, are his parents mad. Khepri is the true brain but as Pharaoh's cat, it's up to Ra to explain what happened once the cases are solved. The banter between the animals - lions, a hippo, an ibis, a hoopoe, crocodiles, the cats, and Khepri is the main attraction. But never forget that dangerous folks are on the loose. This is the third in a recommended series.

This is the 3rd installment in the RA the Mighty series, and this one lived up to the others! If you enjoyed the first two, I think you will like this one as well. We listened on audio, and the kids were so excited to revisit these characters and the “dung” humor as well. In this book, RA is in charge of the Pharoah’s children when one of them goes missing. Did he get eaten by an alligator? What happened? This book is full of adventure and mystery, and it’s a quick listen. I recommend starting with the first in this series if you haven’t read any before!

I have read all three in the series now. Hilarious. Ra the Mighty, Pharaoh's cat, teams up again with Khepri, a dung beetle, and Miu, a kitchen cat to solve the mystery of pharaoh's missing children. Crocodiles abound in this story. You also learn a little Egyptian history along with a good tale.

I found this to be a fairly tedious read-aloud, but Henry liked it on the whole. Although there is a central mystery, it feels like not a lot is happening and the characters are fairly flat.

Of the three books I read this one isn't as good as the first one but Ra isn't quite as whiny in this one as he was in the second.

My kiddos aged 5-10 really enjoyed this as a read-aloud! Easy to love characters and enough suspense to keep the kids wanting more.

Pharaos Befehl ist für Kater Ra Gesetz, auch wenn er nicht gerade glücklich darüber ist, zum Kindermädchen degradiert zu werden. Die Kinder mögen Satiah nicht, was wohl auf Gegenseitigkeit beruht. Schließlich ist Dedi als Sohn von Pharaos Hauptfrau der Kronprinz, während Satiahs Sohn Ahmose nicht so weit oben in Pharaos Gunst steht, obwohl auch er sein Sohn ist. Zum Palast gehört ein Zoo, aus dem immer mehr Tiere spurlos verschwinden. Als dann sogar Dedi nicht mehr auffindbar ist steht fest: die drei Detektive Ra, Khepri und Miu haben ihren nächsten Fall, den es zu lösen gilt. Sie müssen gleich zwei Kronprinzen finden: Dedi, Kronprinz des Pharao und zum anderen das Babykrokodil Sobek junior, Spross des Königspaares der Nilkrokodile. Was hat es mit den verschwundenen Zootieren auf sich? Was für ein Spiel spielt Satiah? Wer steckt hinter dem Verschwinden von Dedi? Unter Einsatz des eigenen Lebens setzen die drei tierischen Freunde alles in Kraft, um Pharaos Sohn zu finden und zu retten.
Im gesamten Buch flechtet die Autorin wieder einmal sehr unterhaltsam ihr geschichtliches Wissen über das alte Ägypten ein. Die Story selbst ist spannend, nicht vorhersehbar und überaus lustig obendrein. Ich liebe es, wie Amy B. Greenfield ihre Hauptakteure Ra und Khepri darstellt, die unverwechselbar, total liebenswert und urkomisch sind. Ihr Miteinander ist voller Zuneigung und Vertrauen und doch sind sie unterschiedlich wie nur was. Ra immer irgendwie faul, dekadent, verfressen und selbstverliebt und dennoch ein Kater wie man einen besseren sich nicht wünschen kann, weil er das Herz am rechten Fleck hat. Khepri dagegen mutig (außer es geht um Vögel), energiegeladen, intelligent und überaus loyal. Ein absolutes Dreamteam die ihre Fälle mit viel Witz, Zufällen (Ra), Gehirnschmalz (Khepri) und Herzblut lösen. Und auch Küchenkatze Miu ist fester Bestandteil des Teams und überzeugt durch ihr großes Herz und ihren Mut. Wie in den beiden Vorgängerbänden wird die Story auch hier von vielen richtig schönen s/w-Zeichnungen begleitet. Diese bringen die jeweiligen Empfindungen und Stimmungen der Figuren perfekt zum Ausdruck und gefallen mir sehr. Vor allem liebe ich die Zeichnungen von Ra mit Khepri auf dem Kopf. Mir gefällt die Idee dieser unspezifischen Tierfreundschaft einfach zu gut.

Ultimo volume di questa trilogia, francamente avrei letto altri 10 volumi, adoro letteralmente sia il gatto Ra che il suo amico scarabeo Khepri (eh si, gli animali hanno i nomi degli dèi egizi!).
Mi ha fatto scoprire moltissime cose sull'egitto, è una serie divertente, ancora di più questo volume dove i nostri protagonisti sono confinati su un'isola del Nilo circondati da coccodrilli!
E mi piace moltissimo anche il grande rapporto d'affetto tra Ra e il faraone. Sono troppo carini.
Quindi ovviamente, serie consigliatissima!
