Have other people called your child ‘too sensitive’? Do you have children who cry too easily or have too many particular demands? Have you felt at a loss on how to confront your child who may be too emotional and flies off into tantrums easily?
Your child may be a highly sensitive child. High sensitivity is a personality trait that may not be common but exists in 15 to 20 percent of our population. They are ordinary people, but highly sensitive people may just have some particular needs not shared by everyone. Having a highly sensitive child may be challenging for parents and many have searched for resources on how to take care of them.
This book is a product of my own experience of taking care of a highly sensitive child. Hopefully, the insights I have gathered from my personal experience with HSC may also help other parents in taking better care of their highly sensitive children.
In this book, you will
What a highly sensitive child is and what causes such a personality trait
Ways on disciplining a highly sensitive child
Proper attitude and approaches to adopt when caring for a highly sensitive child
Issues that may hound a highly sensitive child in their adulthood
Get this book and you will never look at your child in the same way again. You will learn to appreciate the giftedness of your child’s sensitivity and even be thankful you had one. May your parenting problems find confidence in this book dedicated to the creativity of highly sensitive children.
Reading this book is kindof like reading someone’s blog post. There are grammatical and spelling errors, and a lot of the information is anecdotal, not based in science or fact. It was helpful to read her perspective on raising a sensitive child, but the information was presented like it was all-encompassing for all sensitive children, but not based on any theories or fact, just her one child.
There wasnt much in here for how to work with an overly emotional /sensitive child. There was nothing about how to work on emotional regulation that comes with feelings from the child.
I got this book because I knew a child this might apply to, and while the book is brief, it is very informative. Its one you’ll want to listen to more than once, learning how to best help highly sensitive children. If you know a highly sensitive child, you can hear the author paint a picture of them with the kind of accuracy that only comes from personal experience. If you have a sensitive child or know someone who does, this book reveals how to most effectively communicate with a highly sensitive child.
This book was short and sweet. I love how straight to the point and understandable it is. It gave really good action steps for working with HSP children! Loved this book and would love to read more from the author. Thank you for writing and please continue.
Being trained in trauma & resilience along with learning ways to parent that focus on connection, I found this book overlapped quite a bit with what I already know. I learned a lot about *what* a highly sensitive child (hsc) is - which was newer to me, but the strategies offered were not as significant as I would have liked. This would be a great book for parents who are not working on connective parenting. It's a quick read so still worth it, though.
Based on the beginning, a 3, based on the overall, more, 2.5. The ending and wrap up felt much more opinionated than the start of the book. There were some interesting ideas and information in this, but it didn’t apply to my family so didn’t keep my attention after the first couple chapters.
This book pertains to raising all children. It definitely has tips that pertain to highly sensitive children, but they pertain to all human beings. Not bad tips, just not a lot of information.
Like chatting with a friend who has been through it and did the research. I picked this up for my son but it was relevant for myself, and my adult stepchild.
Not well- written with very little practical advice specific to parenting HSCs.
Sadly, there were many misspellings and grammatical errors in this book. Along with that, it was a very basic description of HSCs and very few practical tips in parenting them. I’m thankful the kindle version was so inexpensive.
