Life for me and my sisters was once so simple Four girls with the perfect parents then in an instant our dream life morphed into a nightmare We promised to always look out for one another Never lose our faith and always have each other’s back And we took it seriously Because a Promise to us isn’t quite the same as a promise to most people. With one of us being gone we lost our way The path to happiness won’t be easy But we won’t let that stop us from trying to get there I can Promise You This
So predictable! As I read over the first 62% of the book that was rereleased I realized that I didn’t like this book as much as I thought. So much of the book was not realistic, the plane, the jobs (Omni is always at work but never have any business) (DONT get me started on all the shit Sayeed buys) the “chance encounters” Not only that she literally added a sentence that said they had another sister who was at home sick, thank god for that! She didn’t mention her in the first release. Everybody but Sadie and Chavez are getting on my nerves. I doubt if I’ll be waiting around for part 2! The only reason I gave 3 stars are for the quality of the writing.
I did not finish this book, I will not continue this series. Egypt left a good man who did everything good but marry her, for a thugged out man with crazy exes and baby mamas who end up attacking her and he cheats on her on the regular lol, she goes back to Justus but in her mind she still wants Sayeed. Nope. I feel like when she went back to Justus he should have had a new woman and it should have been too late for her. Justus deserves better. First and foremost Sayeed was bad for her from the beginning. So make it make sense that’s she wants him over a guy who treated her 10 times better. And she jumped into a relationship with Sayeed 5 minutes after dumping Justus. I’m not catching a break trying to explore new authors. I will stick to who I usually read. I stopped at 3% and skimmed the book by the way. I wanted to save myself the time when I could be reading a better plot. I don’t understand all the 5’s. Because that’s what initially draws my attention. Books with weak women usually have high ratings. Books with women who don’t take no mess ratings are usually lower. I will just read the 1 and 2 stars. They are usually more truthful and the book.
The King sisters couldn't seem to catch a break. Egypt was too trusting and that led to her current predicament. I don't agree with her faulting Sayeed for the actions of Marah because that heffa was just hateful and spiteful. Gaia was something else but I appreciated her bluntness. She didn't tolerate disrespect but she could've handled the situation with Bentley much differently. Bentley's wife had some nerve and I hope she gets everything that comes her way because of her actions. I liked what Omni and Deen were building and although he didn't know how to handle things in beginning he quickly came to his senses. Wise had a lot of nerve thinking things would pickup where they once left off. He was a whole bitch for him thinking him telling on Deen would earn him any points. Sadie went through way much and always kept the faith that things would get better. Through it all she never once gave up and Chevez came along at the right time. The pastor, Nana and Mrs. Lacoste got on my nerves with all their judgments. I hope things begin to get better for the King sisters and there Lacoste men.
Whoo-freaking-sah, in every book Dominque Wright there is always a message of love, friendship, pain and more importantly spirituality. 4 sisters, 4 different personalities, 4 different stages of drama. Moving to a new state is an opportunity for growth, a chance to start over. However these sisters jet set on a whole new life. Still trying to heal from their past, they fall for a war a brother who much like there previous relationship, but a bit more polished. The Lacosta men have their drama as well, crazy baby mama, weeding out snakes, and figuring out love as well. Crazy thing is the key to their get back has connections. These young women have so much to live and gain, but the devil is busy. It like at each turning moment life finds a way to tarnish each of them. Hell has completely busted open rock bottom seems to be the only place for them, well at least 3 of them.
I am ready for the finale. I feel like I’ve been filled with anxiety and anticipation for so long for the conclusion but this book combining part 1 and 2 only added to my anxiety 😩 I can’t wait to see what happens when Sadie returns. I wonder who Egypt will end up with and she will overcome her addiction. I think Sayeed is the best for her! Gaia is smart to give OMelly hell at this point but now I’m so worried about her baby and her life! Omni has a choose to make between her past and present or who knows maybe there is a clean cut guy from the future. Wise doesn’t seem like he’s going to give up any time soon! Can’t wait for more!
I gave 5 stars because this author's writing style is everything, her storylines is always on point, and never may errors with the editing. What I didn't like about this book is its a re-release and the new book picks up about 60% into the book. That's is the only thing that I disliked about it. Was thinking this was an entirely new book but it's not. And have been waiting on the 2nd book to this story so I was happy about that. And now there will be a another continuation. But I will be patiently waiting.
I loved how the author took the time to develop each character. She showed their insecurities and brought them to life. The story felt so real you would think it was based on true events.
I didn’t like how the father was so judgmental of his girls. (But this happens all the time in real life). In some parts of the book the story seemed to drag. I wanted more from Sadie. I wanted to get into her head like I felt I could with the other sisters. Sadie is still a mystery to me.
I would definitely recommend this book. It’s a great read.
I wanted to like this book so much but it turned me off a lot that that the author of this book used names from one of my fav author’s books. The storyline was different but very slow but the unique names used from another author’s books turned me off! Gunner, Omni, and Neveah were characters from the same series my favorite author wrote and it just didn’t seem original after I caught that. I just couldn’t finish the series after that! Originality is a must when I read books and if I read anything remotely close to someone else’s book then I’ll lose interest.
Man these sisters and the Lacoste brothers gon give me a heart attack. It is too much going on and I hope in the next book that everybody like Marah gets exactly what she deserves. Reading about the King sisters definitely gives me the feels since I can relate sister wise. And I'm glad somebody cursed Nana's rude ass out. Patiently waiting for the next book.
This book had a lot going on. The King Girls ad the Lacoste boys actually belongs together. The story was well written and I love the relationship that the girls had. I can’t wait until Sadie is reunited with them. Egypt is going through hell and I hope that Sayeed and the girls can help her through it, because she does not need Justus. Definitely would recommend this book to others.
This author is new to me. I am an avid reader and I gravitate towards my go to authors as they mostly don’t disappoint me. Ms. Thomas is now on my list of faves. I loved this book and how the characters were crafted and the story unfolds. I almost put it down after the first chapter because it was so dark. I’m glad I held on . Strong characters and story line. I throughly enjoyed book one and I’m on to book two with equal expectations..
Hold up now we not going end it just like that Dominique why. Egypt girl why r u so naive wake up lord help her. These sister r there for each other but going through their own problems, But I can’t wait to see what’s going happen in part 2 Dominique don’t take long lol. Wow Gaia please don’t let her die.
I pray Gaia and her baby make it.Egypt get through this habit and find peace. I want to see her with happy again. I think Sayeed is the only one that's going to help her kick that habit. OMG, I'm loving Deen and Omni, why did Wisdom have to come back. SADDDDDD!!! I want Sadie to reunite with her family and get her happiness as well. Part 2 come through asap!! Please and thank you.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
I loved it. I am sooooo glad this book came back; and the second half came back harder than ever !! So many twist and turn with these King Sisters and Lactose Brothers . I just know the next installment will be beautiful . I’m so looking forward to Sadie having a main role now. God is good!! Okay I’m read for discussion now.

This had me going at first because I was I read this book but as skipped toward the end I was wait a darn min. I don't remember that so I went on Fb & learned Chapter 20 I believe starts part 2 lol, now I can't wait for the finale but I'll be honest most of these damn characters were working my nerves but baby I all for it bring on the finale please.
I’m so freaking mad that this was not a stand-alone. I never read a book unless it is the entire series. I read some of the reviews and none that I saw said, “I can’t wait for part 2”. Anyway, the characters are amazing the story is captivating. I couldn’t put it down. Lord PLEASE let part 2 come soon!
Wooooowwwwwww. If i could give this book a million stars i would. This is the first time I've read from this author and this will definently not be the last. I loved this book from beginning to end. I am anxiously waiting on the next part. I love that ever sister and brother/cousin has different struggles. I hope to learn more about Deen in the next part. Wonderful book. I round reccomend.
This book was EVERYTHING. I could not put it down. I'm praying for Sadie. She deserves to be happy. Egypt, Gaia n Omni will get it together as well. They are strong. Going through so much. I will admit that this book had me so emotional. I shed a few tears with this one. WELL DONE!!!
I’m hooked once again. So many trials and tribulations they will have to overcome. Sadie is my favorite . Her faith is so real. I’m rooting for all the sisters . Marah is straight trash ugh!!! Impatiently waiting for part 3.
Them brothers have a lot going on with them but they all found love .I hope everybody gets their happy ending. I hope Sadie is reunited with her family. Sayers and Egypt have to get back together
I really need book 2 like right now, this is a must read. Truly hope that Gaia makes it and Marsh gets her karma. Omelly seems to be all over the place and his mom is a Hypocrite. This author has become one of my favorite she is a great storyteller.
OMG!!! I wish this was a standalone so I wouldn't have to keep waiting on the next part...ughhhh!!! Egypt is getting on my last nerve...so naive. I hope Gaia is ok. I like Sadie and it's time for her to reunite with her sisters.
Now you already know that Ms. Thomas was going to bring us a banger, but my my my what a banger this is!!! Grab your mama, ya sista, ya cuzzin, ya auntie, everybody!!! And have a seat...several to be exact cause you are in for a surprise!!! Come thru #2 like ASAP
Dominique never disappoint. I have always love this author's books and will always support this author. She has really grown and so has her work. I love all her books and can't wait to see how this ends
This book is everything needed in a book. I slept in this one. Dominique outdid herself in this one. My book slump has ended. No spoilers. 1 click asap you will not be disappointed!!!!
This was a good read. It kept me on my toes and very entertained. I took away a star because these poor girls just was going through too much which took that “realistic” feeling away from me. I almost dnf-ed several times because I was like this tew murch!
This book was everything as always author Dominique did her thing. I just really wish it was a standalone and not two-part book I hate waiting. A great read
