Fans of TV’s Blue Bloods will love the conclusion of this explosive suspense series.
Detective Nathan D’Azzo’s last conversation with his father lasted long enough for the cracking sound of a sniper’s bullet to hit its target while his sister’s screams filled the night. He hunts the killer to the doorstep of a renown federal judge with a spit-shine life on the bench, but only until his robe comes off. Timothy Jarrett is the brains behind a massive gang alliance, his enforcer, Marcus Jacko. And between them, Olivia Weaver, a woman with a deep devotion for those she loves but a web of secrets miles long. Nathan will bring them to their knees.
Olivia Bennett wants two things, the cancer eating her mother alive eradicated and a place they both can disappear. But that can’t happen. When a seemingly innocent man tries to save her life, she breaks her number one rule, never get involved. She should have left Nathan, AKA Drew Parker, D’Azzo to the wolves. He’s one of them.
When Nathan unravels small pieces of Olivia’s life, his protective instincts jolt to the surface. A darkness pulls them further apart. Can they forgive each other long enough to save one another?
Don’t miss this heart-stopping end to the D’Azzo Family saga!
Award Winning Author, Nancy C. Weeks writes romantic suspense novels that sometimes have a touch of the supernatural. Her characters stalk her dreams until she curls up with her laptop and creates riveting tales sure to end with the most satisfying HEA. The Protector by Nancy C. Weeks is the third book in her D'Azzo Family series. There are three D'Azzo family siblings. Our hero in this story Detective Nathan D'Azzo has been undercover for months and his two sisters, Emersyn and Tessa have their stories in the first two books of the series. Emersyn has her story in The Witness book #1 in the series and Tessa's story, The Analyst is book #2 in the series. Each book propels the story narrative of finding their father's killer and getting justice. They believe his death happened because he continued to pursue a cold case involving his roommates from college. In this story Nathan's goal is to get with Olivia Warner and find out what she knows about the man suspected of hiring the assassin who shot his father. There are many twists, turns and surprises as the story unfolds and culminates in resolution for the family. This book can be read as a standalone but I think the reader would get more enjoyment by reading the first two books in the series.
A wonderful ending to a great series. The D’Azzo family takes the word ‘adventure’ to a whole new level. Action, suspense and of course, a HEA romance.
Nathan has been undercover too long hunting his father’s killer. Olivia was just supposed to be another clue in the puzzle to finding the real murderer. Except the closer he got, the more Nathan liked what he uncovered within the secret bound Olivia, eventually giving everything, even his life if needed, to protect her.
Olivia had rules, ones that protected both her mother and her heart. Trusting Nathan broke every one of them, yet she couldn’t stop. His quiet strength and ability to make her feel safe even in a shootout eroded the barriers around her heart until his life lay in her hands, and she found herself willing to sacrifice everything to save him.
This is the third book in the series and for the best experience is better read after the others. A sweet romance with all of the sexy times behind closed doors, but holds all the attraction on the pages. A fast paced good read for all ages.
I have enjoyed Nancy’s previous books and was happy to receive an advance reader’s copy of The Protector from the author in exchange for an honest review. I liked the main characters, Nathan and Olivia, and their adventures and resolution, but for some reason I missed reading The Analyst in between The Eyewitness and this one, and felt a bit out of the loop and even confused at times. I think I need to go back and read D’Azzo #2 and then reread #3. I also wished we got more background on both moms. It is fun to get glimpses of a couple of characters from the first series in this one. Editing is much improved, which I appreciate. Keep up the good work, Nancy!
Believe me, I’m stingy with my five stars but The Protector is five stars all the way! Suspense, action, awesome plot, fierce and sweet romance - all wrapped up in one book. Well done!
WOW! Just WOW! This is the first book in the series I've read. So, now I have to go read all the previous ones. D'Azzo Justice League. It is extra good, when a family can share personal as well as professional common grounds! Marcus Jacko is the target, Nathan's Dad, Joe didn't want Nathan to take the assignment. His Mother and sisters, Emersyn and Tessa couldn't talk him out of it. His assignment was to identify Marcus' girlfriend and turn her. Things unexpectedly got out of hand and the plan required improvisation. Drew/Nathan met Olivia and her cancer striken mother, Joya. He stayed in constant conflict between his mission and the his perception of their innocent goodness. This is a slow paced mystery having many interwoven threads. The question of who are they keeps Drew/Nathan on his toes. His life is a Cirque du Soleil of investigative maneuvering! Does he find his answers? Are Olivia and Joya good people? Does Joe get his peace? Fantastic story! I look forward to reading the previous two. I received an ARC from Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
In The Protector Book 3 The D'Azzo Family, the suspense continues to build as Nathan pursues his father's killer. His sister Tessa is assisting, and so is the rest of his family. Nathan did not expect another mystery to unfold while he is hot on the trail of his father's killer. Full of action and a new romance, the Protector delivers as much entertainment, thrills, and suspense as the two previous books. You have to love the D'Azzo family and their loyalty and commitment to one another. They also show their commitment to the work that they and their loved ones do in law enforcement. Each has a gift that they share passionately to bring wrongdoers to justice. In the case of this series, the crimes they are solving link directly to the murder of their father. We finally find out all of the whys in this installment.

Nathan, the undercover cop, falls for Olivia, the daughter of the man who killed Nathan’s father. What this story shows is that many assumptions both lovers had about each other and their situations were wrong. Strong character development and many twists and turns make this a good read. And the series had a very satisfying ending.
My biggest issue with this book is the editing. Missing words, phrases that did not make sense, and poor typesetting were obvious enough to interfere with reading the story. I noticed this in the other books in the series, too, but this book was the worse.
Nancy C Weeks did it again with this exciting conclusion to the D’Azzo family series. I fell in love with Nathan 10 times over in this story. As usual, this author does an outstanding job with her characters. I feel as though I know them well. The story stands alone, but having read the first and second novel in the series, there was a beautiful closure in this one that made me wish there was another one on the way. Once the story started rolling, it kept me on the edge of my seat. I felt exhausted and satisfied at the same time.
With the death of their father, the D’Azzos all had their hearts shattered
Nathan’s tangled efforts lead him to conclusions that put his heart, others and himself in jeopardy
Trust and love are hard won.
As Nathan and Olivia try to hold onto what they have left of themselves and the people they love, they won’t have an easy time of it - if they and their connections can survive
The was a great book and a wonderful, if confusing conclusion to the D'Azzo Family series. There were a lot of twists and turns in this novel, some I anticipated (or partially anticipated), others were entirely unexpected. The interactions and dynamic between Olivia and Nathan were a joy to explore as their relationship grew and changed. All in all, this was a satisfying end to this series.

Suspense, action, and great romance. Well written story with thrills and action that keep you turning the pages. A series that you can read again and again and still get captivated in the story. Highly, highly recommend.

An entertaining and intriguing end to this series. Nathan and Olivia don’t have much in the way of trust, but there is a pull that draws them together. Their journey to right the wrongs that have been done to both them and their families is one crazy rollercoaster ride.
All three books were excellent and left you wanting the next chapter and then the next book. The last book The Protector set you up and did not leave you hanging. Books 1 and 2 was the cake and 3 was the icing. All in all a great cake.
I have thoroughly this series. Cohesive whole story line with good knowledge of character grates of both good and evil. A nice surprise twist at the end.
The final in the series. The author had me completely with the surprise bad guy. There were a lot of bad people in this series, but the good guys prevailed!
