The Phra Lak Phra Lam is the official national epic of Laos and retells the Lao version of the Ramayana. Phra Lak Phra Lam is named after two principal characters, the brothers Phra Lak (Lakshaman), and Phra Lam (Rama). The emphasis of the story is on selflessness and brotherly love in the Lao version.
