Christmas is a time to spend with family, but Lola’s don’t seem to want her back. Instead, she’s stuck in the wilds of Scotland under the protection of Lachlan MacNair, a blood-sucking monster, who’s determined to make sure she has the sorriest Christmas ever. Things go from bad to much, much worse when Lola sees a vision of herself kissing Lachlan, under the mistletoe. Lola is a powerful witch and her visions of the future always come true. Until now. Because this one… Never. Going. To. Happen.
Growing up in the cold, wet, north of England, Nina Croft spent a lot of time dreaming of faraway sunnier places and ponies. When she discovered both, along with a whole load of other things, could be found between the covers of a book, her life changed forever.
Later, she headed south, picked up the perfect husband along the way, and together they volunteered to work in Africa. There they discovered a love of exotic places and a dislike of 9-5 work. Afterward they spent a number of years travelling (whenever possible) intermingled with working (whenever necessary.) Eventually they stumbled upon a remote area in the mountains of southern Spain and the small almond farm they now call home.
Nina spends her days reading, writing and riding her mare, Gencianna, under the blue Spanish skies—sunshine and ponies. She reckons this is proof that dreams really can come true if you want them enough.
Nina's writing mixes romance with elements of the paranormal and science fiction If you'd like to find out about new releases then sign up for my Newsletter at: https://app.mailerlite.com/webforms/l...
I liked this story and all the characters. I just think some of the scenes were a little rushed and could have used a little filling out to make the story more wonderful. What I loved most was the feel good ending wrapped in a Christmas ribbon.
Everything was mediocre to begin with. Then, on page 23 the author was so pressed to find a word that meant stunted that the only word she could come up with was the R word. In the year 2024, if you can’t think of another word, use a thesaurus. Her hate shined through, and I DNFed. I don’t care what comes after or how good the book would end up being. There’s absolutely no reason to use that word.
Lola wants to spread the holiday spirit and she has been sent away to be protected and is far for her family. Being guarded by Lachlan who seems to hate her and Christmas cheer. Little does she know that he is fighting everything in him to stay away from her. Funny plot twist with Gabe. Nice story.
Great story. The characters are great. Having a story about vampires and werewolves joining together is fantastic. Add in finding love between a witch and a vampire is amazing. Becoming close with family again after a long time absolutely made this book perfect.
This was a very quick read. I personally thought that there could have been more added to the story to make it more well rounded. Some scenes were very rushed and it felt like there was minimal or no romance in book.
I saw this on tiktok and I liked the description, and I seem to have a thing for vampires. How two supernatural people can be afraid to commit I knew it was going to be a good book and I highly recommend it.
Was a quick, fun little story. Great series for if you're between books. Enough detail to give a picture in your mind, and enough tension that it keeps you interested. I'll definitely be reading the series again!
More like 3.5 ⭐️ It was interesting, entertaining. Somehow many things just mixed in one book. I liked how Lola really seemed real, human, with her questions, thoughts, feelings, insecurities. Also, it's cool to have a Scotting vampire.
This was my first Nina Croft read and it didn’t disappoint. It was a good Christmas quick read! Will definitely be checking out the rest of the series.
Litterally skipped book two and three in this series because I knew I needed the vampire story more. I'm a vampire girly through and through. Very good, short, and enjoyable book.
This is the story of Lola, a daughter of Morrigan and an untrained witch. She has been sent to the highlands of Scotland for her protection and is being watched over by vampires. Lachlan had hoped to never set foot in Scotland again but when his sire Darius asked him to protect his wife's sister he had no choice but to agree. He had mixed feelings about Lola. On the one hand, she was a pain in his, er, nether region and on the other hand he wanted to feed from her while...well, you can fill in the blank. When she disappears on Christmas Eve, he knows exactly where to look for her. Unfortunately, getting her back to the castle where he has been living is not going to go exactly as planned. Heck, it isn't going to go at all as planned.
“Lachlan, will you make all my Christmas dreams come true?” “Anything, sweetheart.”
This was a quick holiday read! I enjoyed the grumpy sunshine dynamic between Lachlan and Lola. Despite trying, they couldn't resist each other. This is a perfect novella to read when you're between books or need a cute but quick Christmas romance. I was a bit confused on how quickly Lola's feeling changed about her family. However, I did enjoy the plot twist. The one big problem I had with this book is that it used the R-slur. I was honestly quite upset about it because this word is hurtful and in the context it was used was unnecessary.
I loved this story. I loved how it evolved. Laclan was detached and didn't want to have a relationship with anyone because he always loses and Lola was looking for someone to love her. I couldn't put the book down. Llovedove shifters, vampires and seers and Mama Morrigan!
Lachlan is a vampire mired in the past. When a daughter of Morrigan is placed in his care his world gets set on it's ear. This is a fast read and is a cute Christmas story. Quirky thought for Odin to be Father Christmas.....
