Rate this book
All through high school, Devlin Stone made Josh Waters’ life miserable in the way only a true bully can. Ten years later, Josh wakes on a groggy morning after his and his wife Kimmy’s high school reunion. There’d been a lakeside rager at the cottage of Dalton High’s most popular girl, and maybe he’d indulged a little too much. What happened last night, anyway? . . .  Devlin Stone’s there to tell him. “I did what you wanted, Josh.” What did Josh want? Not that, there was no way in hell he asked for that . . .  Devlin says You did, Josh, and now it’s done. I slept with your wife—and I’m going to keep doing it. Kimmy’s too much woman for you, and you just made a deal with the devil . . .

The Queen of cuckold angst is at it again!

Josh return for a 10 year High School reunion.

We start with Josh in a tent waking from a drunken stupor, unsure if he has had a bad dream or if he really was visited in the early hours by Devlin, who bullied him, back then.

In this vision, Devlin tells him that he had done what Josh had apparently asked; get with his gorgeous Taiwanese wife.

All Josh knows is that she is missing from beside him and when he does find her; there really is an atmosphere between her, Devlin and her girl-friends.

Josh is unable to deal with the situation in his hung-over state and finds that after only two days Devlin is once again terrorising him mentally.

This first part begins to unravel what actually happened and suggests that perhaps there is some history that Josh is not aware of.

A slow moving psychological cheating wife tale, which looks like it will grow into a must read series.

(This review is for the entire Devil in the Waters series, but contains no spoilers) Morrison is must read for those who like intelligent, well written cuckold literature. The Devil in the Waters series seems to be an attempt at getting readers to delve deeper into the soul of cuckold humiliation. Why are we drawn to it? Morrison holds our feet to the fire, not letting us off with easy psychological explanations-instead, she calls on an older tradition of Dante and Milton, making us descend into the nature of humiliation, temptation, and evil. As with all of Morrison's work, there is a lot of hot cuckolding, characters that seem real, good dialogue, and enough twists and turns that you will never feel you know what is going to happen. All that being said, I probably wouldn't recommend this series as your first Morrison novel-read some of her stand alone stories or one of her other novels first-all of which are excellent.

Good story and well-edited. One thing that kept this from being a 5 star for me (which others may not care about at all) was that I wish the second half was more of a linear timeline. Even with that minor complaint, where I thought about re-reading what happened in the second encounter between husband and bully, I still plan to continue this series.

This was a great book 1. It set the scene and characters. Ms Morrison delivers a slow start but thinking back this first book was needed. On to book 2
