The heroine(s):Presley - she is an art historian working for an auction house with her old boyfriend Hunter to catalog the contents of the mansion of the Valentina family whose patriarch was an early explorer who traveled to the Amazon in the early 1900’s and is rumored to have found a lost city filled with riches.
The Hero(s):Hunter - he is an adrenaline junkie and extreme sports enthusiast who is famous for hosting an adventure series on television and writing best selling books on his travels around the world. He is working with Presley and the Valentina project and filming for his show in hopes that the rumors are true and they uncover some sort of map to the lost city.
The Story: Hunter and Presley find a letter hidden in the mansion which leads them to another letter and another and they end up going on a treasure hunt. They don’t know if the letters, hidden away for so many years, and the hunt are the treasure or if they are leading to the lost city and actual treasure.
Presley is still attracted to Hunter (and vice versa), though she is trying to move her career to the next level and is determined to keep things just business between them. However, as they follow the trail where the letters lead them, along the way they start to find answers to parts of each of their lives which were missing.
The narration, like part one, was done by Scott Eastwood and Andi Arndt. This book was primarily made for audio and I see quite a few reviews that pan Scott Eastwood performance especially for his cadence, which I will agree, could be improved upon. Though this seems to be his only foray into book narration and I would expect that is something that comes with a bit of experience.
I have to say that I like his voice and his cadence really didn’t bother me at all. Scott’s cadence in this one is compared to Andi Arndt’s since they do alternating chapters, and when I searched for him in audible I came up with the three books in this series and her list had 480 books. So of course when comparing the two, there will be differences. Give him a break people.
Seriously Hunter, you just admitted to me that you haven't thought about her for all those years apart. How the heck am I supposed to love you?
Why the heck are you even contemplating letting this man back into your life, Presley? HE BROKE YOUR HEART!!
I really had high expectations when it came to Scott Eastwood narrating. Unfortunately, the pacing is off and he doesn't really bring this character to life. I'm not a huge fan of Hunter and his narration is not helping at all.
I'll go on...but it's only because I want to know what happens in their quest to find all the love letters.
I honestly think that Scott Eastwood could become a fabulous narrator if he practiced a little. Yes, his narration is a little monotone but he's a great actor so I'm sure that'll be easy to fix. One thing he does have to work on is his flow...or rather to go back and re-record if the sentence goes somewhere else than he thinks it does and consequently messes up the melody and emphasis. I still love listening to his voice though so I really hope we'll have more books recorded with him as a narrator.
Hunter and Presley are dancing around each other for a while until they actually move forward in their relationship. I was hoping that Hunter would put her first and my hopes were partially fulfilled. He did make a weird choice after they got closer but he didn't wait too long to rectify and explain. I appreciated that although I think he still has to proof that he understands that Presley is worth more than picking up a phone call at a time phones shouldn't be on his mind at all...or take a job and not dealing with his feelings for Presley for the next ten years. We'll see if he is going to live up to my expectations.
Okay damn what an ending to part two. Like 👀 damn. Also the romance between them is so strong and I find that it's adorable. But the ending was like shitt okkkaayyy. Also the treasure hunt romance that they're hunting was adorable and I'm super excited to find out how they found each other. I love second chance romances!!
This second part to this story is an exciting mystery solving tale. An unexpected discovery has Hunter and Presley having to think outside the square, solving carefully planted clues that tell an old fashioned love story.
Cataloging the contents of a mansion seem to pale in comparison to this twist in this new job. It is also bringing them closer together and some frank and honest overdue conversations are had that clear the air of the past.
While they are both getting caught up in the excitement of what they are discovering, Presley is very wary of letting him into her heart again. She never wants to go through heartache like that. Based on what I’ve read so far, this guy has a lot of work to do on himself before he will ever be worthy of a woman like her.
I liked this one much better than part 1. Hunter was contrite, but Presley was a wee bit easy. I guess I can't blame her though. But really, it was the letters that have me falling for this story. Can't wait to get to part 3. Happy listening!
Still not a fan of Hunter, he’s pretty insufferable, and Presley is a doormat. The mystery keeps me listening although Scott Eastwood should stick to acting. Pluses, it was a free and short listen and Andi Arndt is fantastic as always.
Really gettin into it now 👏🏻 Gotta love a “I can’t go down this path with you, I need to focus on my career” talk… followed promptly by a passionate kiss in the very next scene 😂 Jokes aside, this is definitely very enjoyable! The scavenger hunt is fun, things are flirty and sexy. Of course it’s not a favorite trope of mine for the girl MC to be “struggling” in her career path while the male MC is above and beyond thriving… kind of a tired trope in my opinion. BUT it still keeps the dynamic interesting and cute as the male lead gets to watch the girl shine at what she does! So, pros and cons for sure. On to part 3!
Free in the Audible Plus Catalog! Number 2 out of 3 parts. Mystery treasure hunt. Second chance romance. An old love story to inspire a new one. Sweet banter, wholesome relationships & cute plot. Fun palette cleanser.
This was a quick and light listen. The story picks up right where part 1 left off, and adds more mystery to the story as Hunter and Presley embark on a treasure hunt. It's fun as they follow the clues and reconnect with each other. Hunter does unfortunately make some pretty terrible decisions after an intimate moment in this one that made me really annoyed. I felt like Presley let him off the hook way too easily and I'm really hoping she doesn't turn into a doormat. Things do get steamy between them, but it's not as detailed/hot and heavy as other Lauren Blakely titles.
I really enjoyed the cameos by Zachary Webber and Saskia Maarleveld. It was a great addition to the story and really enhanced the action. Andi Arndt continues to shine and I thought Scott Eastwood's narration was overall better in this installment. I'm hoping that this will continue and that he will be less monotone and give a more emotional performance in part 3. Another thing I'm really enjoying, are the little cameos by other Lauren Blakely characters. I love how she connects the different worlds and has a character pop up here and there. Part 2 ends with an interesting treasure hunt twist and I'm excited to listen to the conclusion of Hunter and Presley's story in Part 3.
Please note: This is part 2 in Hunter and Presley's story and is not a standalone. You must listen to Part 1 first.
I really am enjoying both Presley and Hunter and the journey they are on is interesting it’s kind of a mediocre for their relationship. Finding the pieces that either make or break them. I like how they are listening to each other and yes the past comes up but it doesn’t feel like it is too much. it is just enough to see that they both have those feelings that never died.
I can’t wait to see how their story is going to end up.
The narration is ok Scott Eastwood has a wonderful voice I just wish he would put some emotion into it. It feels very monotone’d.
Andi is a pro he should take some tips from her because not only does she bring her characters to life she also keeps you wanting to listen.
The second part had a lot more of the angst and a lot of fun adventures. Chasing the clues to find all the letters of the love story begins and is so much fun! All the side characters and the historical bits related to circus time was a lot of fun. Unfortunately, Scott Eastwood’s reading still dragged it out for me and I suffered through his portions, doing my best to listen and not correct all his weird pauses and such in my brain, like my brain wanted to do.
A continuation of the trilogy that creates the story of a man and woman who were pulled apart by life decisions and the second chance that being thrown together for work has given them. Interesting characters, unique plotting and entertaining to listen to. The dual narration really brings the characters to life and helps enhance an already good plot. On to part 3!!!
I can barely give this 2 stars. There's a seed of a decent story in here, but the toxic relationship between the protagonists has me at a hard pass. Not going to bother with any additional parts to this drama.
So I jumped into part two shortly after listening to part one. I seriously don't understand these character...
Hunter hasn't thought of Presley in all the years that have passed since he dumped her for his career but after a few short interactions is ready to just jump in again like he didn't break her heart. Presley basically jumped in as well, and made me wonder if the heartbreak really was as awful as she claimed since there had been no forgiveness or closure between them but she's already thinking about all the naughty stuff they can be doing. Once again, Hunter is still selfish and self-absorbed and I don't know what there is to him besides his successful career.
The only reason I'm going to finish the last part is because of the discovered letters and wanting to know where they lead to. Besides that, I have no interest in what happened to the characters and their relationship status but if all the signs are pointing in this direction, then it's easy to say we'll be looking at a predictable ending.
Also, what's with the alpha successful male with the great career while the damsel struggles with hers trope? Can we just not?
The story picks up right where left off and I'm enjoying how the story is playing out. Hunter and Presley are making progress which makes me happy since I love a good second chance romance. This was my first time listening to Saskia Maarleveld and it was a pleasure. I'm pretty much guaranteed to like anything Zachary Webber narrators and Andi Ardnt is the Queen of audio books. As much as I want to like Scott Eastwood I really need more from him performance wise. Hunter is so monotone and I find myself zoning out during his parts and have to listen to them again. Overall, I am enjoying this series and looking forward to the conclusion.
As the plot thickens and the romance heats up Hunter and Presley must interpret the clues to uncover more Valentina love letters while they open their hearts to each other. Witty repartee and clever storytelling make me curious to listen to the rest of their romantic adventure. I listened to the Audible Original audiobook and I thoroughly enjoyed the narration performances of Scott Eastwood and Andi Arndt as well as the cameo appearances of Saskia Maarleveld and Zachary Webber.
It’s getting interesting with the added element of mystery from a treasure hunt with clues revealed in letters. Hunter and Presley's story by itself is quite short and sometimes irritating. They’re only necessary now to tell Greta and Edward's story.
Do I think this story is completely uncompelling? Yes. Am I going to listen to the last part because it’s okay audio to wash the dishes to? Unfortunately, yes.
Also, please please please stop using the phrase “I’m clean” there are so many more ways to talk about testing in a way that doesn’t harm others.
I really enjoyed this part of the series. You could tell there was tension without it going overboard. Other than when Hunter answered his phone right after making Presley orgasm in the back of the taxi. Not cool, dude. He realized it and made sure he fixed it. We also discovered the treasure hunt the grandparents to the people who hired them is actually their love story. I'm excited to see how everything turns out.

In this part 2 the mystery and the romance go to the next level. The treasure hunt becomes more interesting (though a bit confusing when only listening and not reading with eyes.) The second chance romance rekindles. I would’ve preferred for this to stretch out more slowly. Some of the way details are discussed made this less appealing to me. Some interesting aspects, but I didn’t love listening to this one.
