The story of Wenshen is highly creative and believable. It makes me wish humans traveled the universe. Rescuing smugglers from a mayday call brings the Hospitallers into contact with an unknown enemy who attack. The attack forced the Hospitallers to the planet's surface of Wenshen. The Action never stops as the Hospitallers fight off the enemy and eventually meet the native population. The planet's air is toxic and there are native creatures who kill with their razor tails. Plants have razor sharp leaves which cause infections. It is a hostile planet but the Hospitallers defend the natives and save them and the enemy to forge a truce. The natives are the result of human DNA experiments which other worlds denounce. The natives are good people who gather galaxy support. There are more stories to be read of the Wenshen. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Read it!
I love the Hospitallers. I read Dewey Tyler, Book 2 first, as a serial in Mr Roske's newsletter. I enjoyed Dewey's character so much that I bought book 1 with a Christmas gift card. The world building is excellent and believable. The concept of the Hospitallers and the Orphan Corps is fantastic. The camaraderie of the unit is heartwarming, but the body count in Secrets is very high. This book is definitely not a light-hearted holiday read. However, I stayed up until 2am to finish Secrets.
Secrets of Wenshen is a really entertaining book. It is a sci fi book but does not have all the outer space fighting like the normal sci fi. This book is easy to read. There is some fighting between humans and then there is a 3rd species that comes into play. If you are looking for an enjoyable story then this is it.
Lt Dewey and his troops respond to a SOS of a ship in uncharted space. Having reached it and found that it had been attacked , they naturally wanted to help but came under attack by an AP ship. in the insuing action both ship are forced to land on the planet Wenshen. This is the beginning of an adventure that will open some eyes and result in other deaths. Plenty of action. well worth reading.
These are the best books. I love science fiction and I love these stories. I especially love the motto of the Orphan Corp. Aid, Comfort and Defend. Highly recommended.
This was a thought provoking story, about how a new form of humanity would be used and abused. The story rolls along well, and slowly unfolds the full story of the planet Wensum. I enjoyed it, I lkie the Hospitallers, and this followed their story brilliantly.
