Robert (Lynn) Asprin was born in 1946. While he wrote some stand alone novels such as The Cold Cash War, Tambu, and The Bug Wars and also the Duncan & Mallory Illustrated stories, Bob is best known for his series fantasy, such as the Myth Adventures of Aahz and Skeeve, the Phule's Company novels, and the Time Scout novels written with Linda Evans. He also edited the groundbreaking Thieves' World anthology series with Lynn Abbey. Other collaborations include License Invoked (set in the French Quarter of New Orleans) and several Myth Adventures novels, all written with Jody Lynn Nye.
Bob's final solo work was a contemporary fantasy series called Dragons, again set in New Orleans.
Bob passed away suddenly on May 22, 2008. He is survived by his daughter and son, his mother and his sister.
So this is my second set of three books from this series. It kind of only counts as one but they are long books and it took a very long time to get through all of this. Each book is composed of many stories by various authors and then compiled and edited and placed in an order that mostly makes sense. They're all wonderful tales about the inhabitants of Sanctuary in the Thieves World. While reading through the varying writing styles of assorted authors following the lives of so many characters with wonderful details. If you enjoy a quality fantasy then this is a good series of books for you. I originally read one of these books over 30 years ago and wanted to read so much more. Each individual story takes you into another life and intertwines so many of the characters as they try to navigate their lives and survive. This is a world where killing and thieving are commonplace and accepted by all. There is magic and there are gods and there is always a new threat to counter. In this set of stories a new people, the Beysa, are very prominent and they have a bit of a control on Sanctuary that not everyone is happy with. I can't wait to see what occurs during the next set of books and what these authors might bring to the forefront.
I know some reviews are saying one missing, and one story not listed. But now as of mid 2022 both are missing from the second book. This is sad, and it being the last two it is spouse to end the book. So fix this or in info say is lacking two stories.
