Never let the muggles drag you down

I gave up. I couldn't finish. I only made it to 51% before waving the white flag. Angela is an overly sensitive doormat and Randar goes from trying to be sweet to thinking like a 50s husband.

My thoughts:
*Wow that first meeting went badly. First her friend signed her up, because apparently we just can't move past drunken mistakes as a people. But she decides to go anyway, showing hostility. (Why go if you're going to be confrontational?) To a guy who's in security, who's not going to react well to hostility. And so she runs him out of his own rooms instead of sleeping on the sofa.
*Why didn't they have a suit of rooms set aside for matches? Introductions in a relaxed setting where they can have privacy after. Instead of forced interactions in an already claimed space.
*She's tall. Ok. But she's so damn sensitive about it. And not every guy is going to be a jerk to a tall woman. Some heavy stereotyping going on here.
*The second interaction with him, after the first involved her being hungover from vodka overindulgence, involves enough wine to "loosen her up". Really? You're not proving your character can function without alcohol in her system if within the span of 3 days she's been "liquidly lubricated" for 2 of them.
*In the beginning of the book she's lamenting over these killer heels she can't wear because they add 5" to her statuesque 6'3". She agrees to go on a date with her match, someone 7'. She chooses not to wear the heels why??
*She allows some jerk to paw her as she's waiting for her date with Randar. He says some things designed to drag her down, so, of course she's morose for their date. No fire. No, "get your pervy married hands off me". No, "keep your height bigoted drivel to yourself". Nope. She decides she wants a salad because how dare a man see her eat a real meal after a knuckle dragger called her a big girl.
*She isn't biologically compatible with him, but raids his food stores? And doesn't suffer so much as a case of hiccups, let alone hives? Everything, spices, basic foods, beverages, soaps, none of it bothers her?
*All these aliens are some variation of human. Human with some different colors. Humans with some scales that glow. Human but no external ear indicators. Human but vaguely reptilian...and her name sounds like Jurassic.

And that's where I left off. Maybe she grows a backbone. Don't know. He thinks he can buy her affections with gifts, thanks to a friend. She thinks she can calm him down by fixing him a proper meal. It's too 80s romcom in space for me. This match database is supposed to be a magical thing that pairs you with your perfect mate. But all it is running on is DNA. Great for pheromone driven spawnings. But, with higher thinking species, mentality comes into play, too. There's no psych eval. Some people may not want to leave Earth. Some may just be looking for adventure. Why not offer employment opportunities as well as the match service? The one thing I truly enjoyed in what I read was the fact that she didn't want kids. But, on that note, she was paired with Randar using DNA, yet they weren't biologically compatible. Huh? See the disconnect here? Ack. I feel like all I've done is rip this to shreds. It's not horrible. It just needs some tweaking. A little character growth. Ok, a lot of character growth. But the premise itself is sound.

Not a bad story, well written, a read for when you are looking for something light and loving after a dark read.

2.5*/star It was okay-ish

I think it was an okay read, but I'm more the type to enjoy a slow burn erotic story. And this one was kind of too short for my liking. It didn't give much room for character development and the plot felt rushed and a bit stereotypical. (the book is literally under 100 pages in length)

Angela is relatable in a way, and Randar was a really sweet match for her. I liked their dynamic but I felt like their match was a little bit *too* perfect from the get go. I think I would have liked them to face more cultural issues and question their desires a bit more, learn more about each others.

Side note: For an alien, Randar felt a bit too human. Which made it a bit unrealistic in a way. I know..I KNOW!! It's fiction and not every alien has to have tentacles or mandibles or whatever. I just think that in a sci-fi universe, there would be more differentiations between humans and aliens. Cause being Tall and greenish and have a bit of scales that change colors based on emotions is a bit underwhelming. And that said, TOO human when it even came to the passionate moments. I don't know, I guess I was looking for more creativity there too.

Listen, I'm just a girl who is looking for adventure okay? I need my little spice and sadly it was lacking!

The antagonist of the story was a bit lame to me and the plot around him was too predictable for my liking.

Overall, I would suggest this book to whoever wants a quick little story to read, I say go right ahead!

this has a really interesting premise. And I truly hope that if we ever run into aliens they are the ones from this book because it's by far the best outcome possible. Randar and Angela were great together and I have to say he was exactly what she needed. Someone to point out that she was perfect just as she was and to heck with what anyone else thought. I wish it was longer and fleshed out a bit more but a good quick read.

I love the idea of the Intergalactic dating website. So I understood why the main heroine, Angela, was into dating interspecies but why was Randar? I felt like his motivations were unclear or too weak for me to care about. Why are you here dude and why should I be your cheerleader? If I'm not emotionally attached to the idea of the couple getting together then story falls flat and it's a meh for me.

Good bye reading slump

This is a quick read that hits so many social issues women face every day. Randar is a color changing scaled alien who isn’t looking for the “socially accepted typical female,” he is looking for a woman to be his match, luckily he is mAtched with Angela.

Oh my stars!!!!

I'm so glad I read this book. The author is new and talented. First, we have a concept of DNA matches that I really found interesting. But that's just the beginning. Our heroine, Angela, is so smart but has insecurities about her size and height that I was afraid she would be a whiner. Image the confidence she gained by being immediately desired by our gorgeous sexy alien. And she's not a shrinking violet or tongue tied victim when confronted by a human bully sleaze. No way, she gives such an incredible speech to the little piece of crap that I memorized certain parts of it to share with my grand daughter. If only every girl could grow up with out feelings of being inadequate. But back to our story, it's so romantic and sweet I was hooked from the second chapter. I have already read the next one, the novella, and it was grand as well. Cannot, absolutely cannot wait until 3/13/20 for the next story that covers our blue haired prince and his DNA match. Really I loved these books and highly recommend them to every scifi romance reader out there

Well, it's a no from me.

Angela is a human woman and Randar is a hot humanoid/lizard bodyguard of a prince that came to Earth to build intergalactic relationships through their DNA match program. Through that program Angela and Randar meet.
And that's pretty much it, that's the plot. The plot was a good idea, the execution wasn't. The story needed a loooot of the back-stories and they weren't there. One star less.

- Not enough pages. That instantly had me worried. No good story is written in short. Everything was fast and not well developed. One star less.

- The romance and getting to know each other should last longer, there was no build-up of feelings, nothing; they met, kinda liked each other, soon had sex and very soon said their i love you's. I had absolutely no investment in their story, it was blah. One star less.

It just wasn't worth the read, i'm not going to continue the series.

Book One of the New Intergalatic Soulmates Series. Loved It!

An Intergalatic Space Station is above earth where the counsel stays between trips to earth to try and get the Earth governments to buy into the Match Program. It matches you with your one true soulmate. The governments are having a little trouble buying into a program they don’t really understand. Randar is the head of security for Prince Cael, the ambassador who is in charge of the negotiations. He is shocked when he hears that a match has been found for him and that it is a human.

Angela Parker is a human that is done with men! She is very tall and done with men saying they are okay with that only to be turned off by it when they actually meet. She got drunk with her friends after the last fiasco. One of her friends decides that if there are no human men on earth for her, maybe she should sign up for the new Match Program. Maybe there is an alien out there for her. Angela goes to bed not knowing what her friend has done. In the morning, both of them are very hung over when the text comes in that she has been Matched and she is to report to their offices later that day. Angela is shocked by what her friend has done and they go down to straighten things out. But as soon as Angela sees a picture of Randar, she feels that she should at least go and meet him. So off to the space station she goes to meet him.

When they first meet things do not go well. Apparently the aliens are very comfortable just accepting that the match is correct. Angela wants to get to know him and “date”. He doesn’t understand the concept of dating and doesn’t understand why Angela would even question the match. When he finds out that she didn’t even sign up of her own free will, he is even more upset.
Can these two overcome their many obstacles and get to know each other to give the match a chance, or will this be the end to the program?

Really good book and I can’t wait to read the next one!

This was a hard one to rate, but the epilogue ended up deciding it for me. This was started as a palate cleanser after a particularly dark and entrenched read, and this certainly delivered on that point. Short, easy to get into, and a generally fun read. The FMC was dealing with some insecurities that she unfortunately brought into this relationship with this alien. It was realistic and well written in that regard. But I still found it hard to warm up to her, because her insecurities were denying his "culture". Yes, she asked about his planet, childhood, etc. But it's an alien, she just slotted him right in with every man she ever met. How? He's an alien. The name alone, implies nothing he does is like other men. So assuming every bad look means he hates her without first asking seems a tad ridiculous. But the MMC is why I fell in love with her. He's understanding, his career is interesting. The match program is intriguing and we're on the ground floor of what the start of it looks like. Third act for me was 4 stars. Epilogue was mainly just another sex scene. In a short book like this, I would've preferred more plot. Let's see our couple on a show together, or talking to potential couples etc. I'd read more for the match program alone. So I'd certain give the series another go.

Okay this book was ridiculously sweet. And I mean that in the nicest way. I have to be honest, I wasn’t expecting much. I’ve never heard of this author and the book was shorter than I usually like and I really just haven’t had a lot of luck lately with authors suggested in Facebook groups. Also, the fated mates thing is tired.

BUT

BUT, this story had everything one could possibly need for a relaxing couple of hours with a cup of coffee on the couch. The characters were interesting, the world was familiar yet different, and budding attraction was believable once you started reading the book.

I found myself rooting for Angela and hoping she’d find some inner strength and she did! And the underlying messages about the human race and its collective bad behavior were not so in your face as to be distracting.

I’ve read books with so many pushy, brooding alpha-holes lately it was refreshing to find a male counterpart with some actual sensibility and rational thinking.

This isn’t my usual book, and it was a borderline Intergalactic Hallmark Movie, but I enjoyed it and have no complaints!

I can’t wait to read the next installment!

A quick enjoyable read!💖

Angela is a human woman who is very tall 6'3 but also very beautiful! Accept she really doesn't believe it because she's been made too feel her whole life that there is something wrong with her because she's so tall. Men seem intimidated by her or are just plain idiots. One night after a break up and a bit of drinking her best friend signs her up for intergalactic mates, where according to the site you'll find your effect DNA match. Or soulmate! Randar is 7 ft tall, greenish and totally alpha male.. He's the lead bodyguard of the Prince in charge of bringing the Earth into the intergalactic community, meaning through the DNA match. He's waited his whole life for a woman to call his own and be his partner in life. There is uncertainty, misunderstandings, realizations and ultimately passion and love. By the end of the book I was ready to sign up myself just hoping I'd find my own DNA Match. 💖 I can't wait to read the second in the series.

A Great Start to the Series

Randar is 7' tall and buff and never expected to be lucky enough to meet his Match. He also doesn't like humans very much due to his previous interactions with them in his job as his Prince's bodyguard. Angela is 6'3" and very insecure due to her previous interactions with human males. She feels too tall, gawky, and awkward. After a boozy girls' night b*tch session, one of her friends signs her up for the DNA Match Program without her knowledge. Angela is immediately matched and, to the shock of all, decides to go through with it. The development of Randar and Angela's relationship plays out against a backdrop of protests, a very sleazy politician determined to undermine the program, and a Prince equally determined to make the program a success. Of course they find their HEA, but not before enduring the results of their various cultural and emotional misunderstandings. These two make a very good intro to the series as a whole and show what a great match can do for the two involved. I've read the whole series and highly recommend it. 🥰

"Randar" by Annabelle Rex is a captivating addition to the realm of soulmate-themed novels. The DNA matching concept is executed excellently, breaking away from the typical one-species pairing, and the biological compatibility element adds an intriguing layer. As a fan of soulmate narratives like 'Soulmates,' and 'Fated Mates,' I appreciated the fresh approach.

Despite the touch of instalove, the author skillfully introduces a natural skepticism that resonates with readers. The exploration of caution amidst the rush of emotions adds depth to the storyline. I especially enjoyed the unique portrayal of emotions through Randar's colors, a creative touch that enhances the reading experience.

Having discovered Annabelle Rex through this book, I look forward to delving into the rest of the series. Overall, "Randar" is a cute and perfect story that successfully blends romance with elements of caution and creativity.

Not too tall

Angela was sick of men. She had another disaster date. With her 6'3 height, she had a hard time finding a boyfriend. So, her best friend, drunk at the time, decided to help her out by signing her up for the Match DNA program. Angela didn't even know until she was matched. To a 7' alien bodyguard, Randar. But she liked his picture and profile. But she didn't know that she would be expected to move into his quarters at their first meeting. But she decided to stay as long as he slept on the floor in the living room. They grew to liking each other and the race on. This is a fun book to read with no vulgarity. I recommend this book to everyone who loves a good romantic story of two different species coming.together.

💖🧡💚 A NICE SURPRISE !

After yet another sentimental failure, Angela participates in an evening with her friends during which they cheer her up while drinking alcohol.

As the discussion progresses, they come to speak of a dating Agency that boasts of finding the ideal companion throughout the Universe...

Completely drunk, Angela's friend Chelsea registers Angela on the dating site.

Shortly after, Angela, amazed, receives a positive response from the agency which has indeed found her the ideal companion...

----------------

A NICE SURPRISE for this original interplanetary romance with a really slow start.

I really liked the two main characters of Angela and Randar !

The general story of the book is sympathetic and tender.

I can't wait to read the rest of the series INTERGALACTIC SOULMATES.

It's pleasant and funny to read : I recommend.

Excellent Start to a series!

This book was great! It is written in British English, so there may be a few differences in spelling. Angela's nasty signs her up for the mate program without her knowing and she is immediately matched to Randar. Randar is a little apprehensive about having a human mate since he deals with the jerky ones so much. They meet for the first time and it does not go well, but they talk the next day and thing's begin to smooth out. Give this book a try!

Randar is part of the security team guarding the Alien Prince during the new relationship with Earth. He has only seen the humans that are protesting, fan girling and hosting the Prince. He had a dislike of them until he meets his matched mate.
Angela is unhappy with the human male pool. She is a tall women and most men cannot see past that feature. She has just been dumped by her latest idiot when she had a girls night. One thing to another and she finds herself signed up and matched to an alien.
They have a few bumps to overcome to before they hit their smooth road.

I was hoping to like this more than I did. The world building is not real in depth, and the flow was a bit slow. The main characters, Angela & Randar, are ok, nothing really memorable about them for me writing this review 2 days later. So I'd say they were a bit flat. Maybe a bit more was needed from them to make them stand out more. I wasn't pissed off after reading the book, so that's a positive. It wasn't the worst book I've ever read, and it wasn't bad enough to quit the book. But it wasn't good enough for me to want to continue with the series either.

Different spin on aliens and their perfect matches. I love how Randar showed his emotions through his scales. Angela was very relatable and her growth through the book made for a great read. The introduction to this universe wasn't through the eyes of a race looking to save themselves from extinction and it was a different point of view, refreshing. I am looking forward to reading the other in the series.

Cute

This was a cute story about a lovely female of above average height who is match to an overly large alien. The DNA match program guarantees it will find your perfect match so when Angela’s friend signed her up she decided to go through with it. It her insecurities threatened to derail her budding love affair from the start. I loved the way the author dealt with that and how Randar helped her to understand how beautiful she was and what she had to offer.

Cute easy read

Simply put this book is a easy fast read. A simple romance to start a series. Happily ever after between a human and an alien. The heroine is self conscious because she is tall so that's something she needs to overcome. Of course there is also humans that protest against the DNA matching, so far it was just little blips.
Overall an enjoyable read with great characters, I will read the next books.

This was my first Annabelle Rex book which I read for free on Amazon Unlimited. It has an interesting premise and a cute story with interesting characters. It just was not my type of sci-fi romance, with zero battles, conflicts, fight scenes or major alpha male displays. I appreciate the message that humans are much too superficial and easily hurt one another over being petty, but could use something more substantial to the plot.

New adventure with an alien

This starts out as a mistake that takes a turn by a human who does not wanting to hurt someone that was matched in the Intergalactic mating program. She didn't sign up but the person she was matched to did. She chose to continue to see how things play out. Thank goodness she did because it all turned out for the best. Even if the slimy political people try to make her look bad. Good read.

I found the female lead to be very timid and insecure, due to her height 6'3".
She began to assert herself after her friend drunkenly sighed her up for the intergalactic dating service. She took a lot of sexual harassment from an old married man, but when faced with a crowd of people who continued his harassment she came into her own. That one chapter made this book turn from a "guilty pleasure" to a book worth keeping and re-reading. I just got the next two books on KindleUnlimited!

The romance is lacking, and by the time we got to a romance there were barely any pages left to read. There's also not enough action scenes to make up for the lack of romance. As much as I would like to explore more and see if the other books are worth it, with this book being the introduction to the series is disappointing... I thought I would at least be curious to the world building/lore this had but there was nothing lol

Lovely sexy romance

The main character is a TALL human who's been burned/ridiculed in relationships. She takes a chance on an alien matching system. This is an interesting fun start to a series (or a stand alone, but hoping the meet the prince's match). Enjoyed this book very much.
