GIDEON HAWK IS BACK RIDING THE ROUGH, LAWLESS TRAILS OF THE WESTERN FRONTIER, PILING UP JUSTICES FOR HIS DEAD WIFE AND SON.
Fighting the good fight is enough reason for former deputy marshal, Gideon Hawk, to get in on the action. But when the defenseless are involved, it gets personal for the Rogue Lawman…
What this town needs is a temporary lawman who exhibits little diplomacy when it comes to doling out justice—and Gideon Hawk is that man. Not everyone is sure of him though, especially a hard-nosed yet fetching schoolteacher and some shady businessmen…
“Nobody writes this sort of hard-edged Western better than Peter Brandvold himself. Gideon Hawk is one of my favorite characters, and this novel is a fine addition to the Rogue Lawman series.” – James Reasoner

Peter Brandvold – Rogue Lawman Vol 2 – Reviewed 1/13/20 - Read 1/9-11/20 Gallows Express, Heed the Thunder, Bloody Canaan, and Undertaker’s Friend plus Short Story: The Lonely Widow.
Gideon Hawk is still on the trail of Outlaws that need to be killed. It seems like he will never find the one that will take him to the other side to join his wife, Linda and his son, Jubal. When Ned Meade hanged his son, his wife could not live another day without her baby, so she hanged herself. Gideon chased down everyone involved in the death of his son and killed them, over and over, and he has not stopped yet. Every outlaw that he catches up with, he prays will be the one that will end his misery and let him join his family. From Geronimo’s Gold to the lonely widow, Gideon’s search takes him from town to town, and one or many outlaws to the next.
What did I like? Having felt that same coldness touching your heart from the loss of a son, I know how he feels! I can relate to the search to end the pain and give you the peace that you are looking for. Gideon Hawk won’t stop searching till he can finally stop the endless pain, he is at the point now that he sees them waiting for him... He keeps telling them it won’t be much longer. My heart breaks for his pain and his loss. Thank God, I have found my peace and excepted the outcome. I too, know that my family is waiting for me and when the time is right will join them.
What will you like? Intense situations, thrilling action, incredible mystery, intriguing people, the chase and the results… mindblowing!!! The storyline just keeps getting better and better, each outlaw so different than the last. Each chase more intense than the last. Peter knows how to keep the storyline going from volume to volume, that just has us coming back for the unbelievable events that he has flowing from his creative mind. He keeps us so involved with the details, and descriptions taking us from 2020 to the 1800s so that we can live the west all over again. Feel the wind and rain on our skins and know the pain from the Rogue Lawman!!! Another great one for your Western Library!!
The Rogue Lawman never ceases to amaze me with his uncanny ability to carry out the ongoing missions in bringing justice to those responsible for ongoing death and destruction throughout the old West. His responsibility as a U. S. Marshal has been superseded by his anger for revenge of his family's death, and his desire to rid the western frontier of all evil!
Five stars, and more, for another exceptionally entertaining series of western justice at its best, by one of the most prolific writers of American folklore adventures, Mr. Peter Brandvold. No punches pulled in this outstanding series of how our old West was finally tamed. Some of the most descriptive storylines I have ever read and the Author's outstanding character selections were perfectly selected for their commanding assignments throughout the entire book. Hawk pulls No punches is his quest to restore law and order throughout the areas in need of recovery, and his ongoing goal of making the bad guys pay for their lack of interest in public safety. One exciting episode after the other, and numbers of bad guys only intensifies his goal for justice. Most definitely recommend this outstanding western masterpiece of heartwarming retaliation experiences to all readers, but you orchard nosed western folklore enthusiasts will definitely enjoy the fast moving adventures of Hawk, and his sometime lover, Ms. Saradee, often work together in taming the wildness of the old western frontier! You're the loser, If you don't follow Hawk's exciting adventures of one exciting gunfight after the other!😄
I have read both volumes of Rogue Lawman and found them to be great escapism but I now have some advice for Peter Brandvold. I think Hawk should be getting extremely tired of having to be continuously on the move with the horse with no name as his only friend. Surly the most beautiful collection of ladies he has ever seen but with nothing permanent because of his mental condition and need to be always on his horse to the next group of outlaws who need killing. I think it is time for Hawk and Sardee Jones to settle down somewhere in Kansas or some other place they are not known.
Just completed the second volume. As expected, I wasn't disappointed. Ya can't help but get involved in the story. The good vs.evil, the action, and drive Hawk has to "kill those that need killing" keeps me turning the pages. Having said that, there are a couple scenes in Vol. 2 that I couldn't wrap my head around. I just couldn't imagine events taking place at a point when and as they did. Kinda surreal. I also thought the last part of the book was kinda rushed. But I really liked the ending.
Rough and tough. The characters are as well developed as the descriptions of the Western landscape and the anatomy of horses and their tack. Yes the bad guys always get their due but not without the psychological toll of takes on the main characters. Brandvold weaves a concentrated mix of virtues- love, physicality, duty and perseverance to give the reader a visceral experience. Bravo Peter!
Just finished the Rogue Lawman the whole lot and it was absolutely great could hardly put it down to sleep, had me glued to every word ,my kind of western may find it hard to find some thing as good or similar for my next read but there probably is if I look carefully .
Well I've read most of what you have wrote,I think! But still more to come I think. Sara Lee was not in this one. She didn't turn up to save him. When is the next one coming out? Or. Is he going to turn up in the one behind this one? But still enjoying these that I've read. J D
Good book, good author and a well written western novel. Lots of killing, some well written sex. I enjyed reading these stories very much. I even reading the sex scenes, many authors give so many details that a normal human act leaves a dirty after taste.
I loved the series that gave such a long reading time .I just wished the Rogue Lawman did not get beaten so much even though he would get his revenge soon after. Keep up the good writing and I will keep reading you stories.
I have read both volumes or the Rogue Lawman and wish
there were more to read. I would recommend these books to anyone who appreciates good western stories. I hope there Will be more coming out and hope that he finally marries Saradee.
Entertaining, characters were believable and not contrived as superhuman. Authors personal description describes him self as one that grew up with westerns. From his stories I am convinced he spends time not writing or developing a storyline watching porn.
The Rogue Lawman series was an excellent mix of a man fill I with grief, vengeance and sad loneliness. Vivid accounts of a man hurting but wanting justice for his family death.
Love the story of the star in this series of his love trials and fights. Hard not to fully understand his reasoning in the books. Writer keeps you turning page after page to see what happens next. Would highly recommend this series
A very unbelievable story lines all the way through too many people being killed that weren't actually happening didn't care for the books at all thank you goodbye
Disappointed in the ending! After 2 volumes of Hawk's adventures, narrow escapes and romantic encounters it would have been nice to have a "happy ever after" ending.
I throughly enjoyed reading this book. VOL 1 & 2, thus the 5 Star rating. I have read Frank Leslie books, in the past.. I will pass this on to family n friends, etc.
Great read.could have been more forthright about relationships. And more descriptive about encounters. I would like to hear more about the sexual relationships
The second Rogue lawman series contains more romance novel than I remember in the first. The writing continues to be good and the characters are more edgy.
A one of a kind story that just gets better and better. All characters are well placed and fleshed out. The women in this book are diverse and interesting. The plot is fast moving with unanticipated curves I enjoy the sex scenes , a must for a man like Gideon Hawk. I think this series is Mr. Brandvold 's best work. By all means read these books. Start with 1st book.
While Volume 1 books were better, still if you enjoy kick butt main charactrs, you will enjoy of these books. The main character is always on the move . I find it inconsistant for the author to end some of the stories with Hawk settling down to one woman and in the next story he's on the move as if he had never settleing down.
