Remi’s world has fallen apart. She’s a teenaged shifter at Gladwell Academy, but the academy is under siege. Her twin brother is a murderer, her boyfriend has betrayed her, life is a mess. To heal from a bullet wound to her shoulder, she’s been in wolf form for weeks. Now she’s waiting and watching for her newly adoptive mother to return from a mission. Her friends are being supportive, but…
I have read other books by Ms Claire set in this world, but not this specific series. It took me a bit to catch up, but I totally enjoyed this. Cherish Belhollow is both a savior and villain and she has taken Remi under her wing, grooming her to take over Gladwell Academy. We learn about their families and mixed shifter/witch heritage and what that means. This all leads up to a wild, violent clash at the end, where who the true heroes and villains are revealed.

ONE TANTALIZING JOURNEY!!!
Right turn Clyde! Marisa blasts onward full throttle blowing the doors clean off with this delightful dynamo, delivering all the heat and magic, wrapping this baby up sleek, shiny and tight. Twixt, bound and tightly coiled, showcasing the rocketing ups and agonizing downs, testing our characters in ways they could have never anticipated. A surging vortex of vexing mishaps and surprising circumstances blow those thrilling emotions into play front and center, propelling this baby to a whole new level. Bracing the burdens and towing the line, delivering this pulse racing, heart pounding, adrenaline pumping, page flipping bombshell, wrapping this baby up sleek, shiny and tight. Shenanigans, escapades and mayhem call the shots, rousting the drama, intrigue, secrets, betrayal, danger, mounting suspense and intense situations along with a boatload of chaos, you have one mind-blowing experience. Exhilaration rocks this jewel, bringing it home with such intensity and precision, displaying triumph and imparting one block busting bombshell, blasting this baby to life spectacularly. The characters are realistic, intriguing and authentic with depth and qualities that add just enough flaws for diversity, transforming into amazing personalities. The scenes are so vividly detailed and descriptive it gives the illusion you were right there in the middle of ground zero with them. Fantastic job Marisa, thanks for sharing this bad boy with us.

Academy of Shifters 5

Magic and Monsters
Incredible truths are revealed about the greater world outside the academy. Remi is at the heart of it all.

Total Score: 5/5

Reviewer: Teresa Fallen Angel

Summary:
Things at Gladwell Academy are never simple or clear. Their enemies are determined to get what they want and that is Remi. Life as a wolf is easier for Remi, but the human shifter world needs her in ways she may not totally understand yet. Secrets abound making it difficult to recognize who is a friend and who isn’t. All Remi wants is to be with her adoptive mother, but looks can be deceiving.

This is a fast paced and very intricate story. The audio-book bring the characters alive in the way that isn’t available through print. I for one can’t wait for the next book in the Academy for Shifters series!

The rest of the series is great, but this is the book it’s all been leading up to! Teacher’s Pet is full of action and lots of surprising twists and turns. So much happens! And everything you think you know can change in a second.

Remi is extra annoying though. For the first half of the book she is so obnoxiously obsessed with Belhollow that it’s disgusting. The most frustrating part is how quick to anger Remi gets when it comes to Laith, but yet she defends Belhollow at every turn. It’s super unfair. I had to put the book down several times just to calm down.

Another thing that bothers me is that no one even bothers to find out what happened with Lenore and Laith. One whole book later and not even Diego seems to be concerned. What is that about?

The end was an epic battle and sets the stage for the crossover with Broken Wand Academy that I am super excited for.

Wow! This book has all kinds of stuff going on. Plots within plots are awaiting for you within its pages. The girl is something else. I don't particularly care for her as she is not strong as she should be in my opinion. She has PTSD and is very needy. The boyfriend has reasons for what he has done. The brother is freaking crazy and a ghost to boot. The other brother has been incarcerated. There is just too much happening to tell you all about it. It is a good book and a lot of things are explained. I enjoyed it and would recommend the book.

Suprise twist

I have to admit a was annoyed with Remi for just about the entire book. I just dont get how she turned so codependent. And it seemed the pagea all went back to her acting like a spoiled child in any situation! But just when I thought I couldnt handle it anymore, everything came tumbling down. The story got interesting, some mysteries were solved which suprised me but the ending was just WOW. The next book seems soo far off and the story just jumped into an entire new direction and it sounds like it is definitely something Remi needs, and I truly hope the next book she will come into her own.

Seems I am starting late as this is the first audio of the series I have listened too. I like the action and suspense. The characters are fun and easy to manage, but starting late in the series did leave some questions to be answered that I am sure were addressed earlier in the series, which I hope someday to be able to go back and hear. The audiobooks are brought to life through the wonderful voice of narrator Brittany Goodwin. She has a way with these books that bring it to life for the listener in a way the written word does not do. This series has made a fan out of me and I can't wait to find out what happens next.

Remi is not perfect, she has dealt with plenty of setbacks, which can make her a bit prickly to people around her (even those close to her), but can she trust all those close to her? As she learns more secrets, how will they effect her? What about Remi's brother Rahm, and what part will he play? It would be best to read the previous stories in this series before picking up this one. I loved the drama, dangers, and emotions of this interesting book, and I am looking forward to the next book.

Whoa!

What a crazy rollercoaster of a book!
I highly recommend this book, and the series in which it is, to readers who love a very large puzzle to solve. All the misdirection and confusion is mostly cleared up in this book, but a new mystery and another series is revealed. I love it when a great story continues to pique my interest, and keeps great characters, I've come to love, in play. Enjoy!
And if you want to continue reading its recommended that we argue to Broken Wand Academy before reading the next book in this series.

The story is very intense with highs and lows. Remi gets answers only that they weren’t what she was expecting. We find out more about Laith and what he has been through. Enemies become friends. Remi finds unexpected talents. Remi and Rahm are reunited just not like Remi thought it was going to be. There are definitely Kleenex moments. There’s a cliffhanger that leaves the series open to intertwine with Broken Wand Academy. Another really good series.

Teacher’s Pet is full of action and lots of surprising twists and turns. I thought there were some things that should have been addressed but weren't -- what happened with/between Laith & Lenore between books, why Remi was so quick to hate Laith but yet she forgives Belhollow at every turn no matter what she has done. Other than this I thought the book was well-written & had strong characters. Great world building.

Was wavering after the last novel, but this one totally lost my interest. There was just too much back and forth with the FMC. Her insecurities are understandable, but the writing was just too much. I just could not take it anymore. The plot continued down this "who is the real villain" theme, ping ponging between the Chairman and the Chancellor. This is what, book 5? That stuff needs to be resolved already and we should move on.

The truth will out!

If you're blinding people to the truth to try to protect them...is lying good?
If you're telling the truth to hurt people, is that better?
This story could have been radically different if several key characters had been honest and communicated with each other.
Unfortunately for everyone, they weren't, and they didn't.
Will our heroine and hero learn from past mistakes, or will they be doomed to repeat them?
Personally, I plan to read the next book; now!

Holy Shift! This story was intense! I both love Remi and annoyed with her. Although, I guess with all that has happened, it's understandable why she's the way she is.
This story has it all....magic, angst, love, betrayal and action.
I'm definitely looking forward to the next book!

This is such a fantastic series, and this book is even more intense than the previous ones. The plot becomes even more complex, perfectly constructed so that there are constant surprises without the feeling of being lost. Remi is just as anguished, but is thrown off balance by different events, I was glad to see the return of Laith. Excellent read.

Lots of things are revealed, but not exactly what or how Remi had expected. We do learn more about her world, however. There is so much going on that the reader will need a score card to keep it all straight! This book has a little bit of everything with many surprises along the way. Grab your copy and enjoy!

Betrayals. Remi has a mom now that she loves but Laith has betrayed her, and her twin brother Rahm is crazy. But what she has been told is not always the truth, even though everyone’s goal has been to stop the Chairman, Declan Helms. He wants Remi and her magic and he must be stopped. Book 5 starts a bit whiny. I see why some whiny is needed but it’s a bit much for my taste. However the story is worth the whines! We get more information, more growth in so many characters and lots of action! So yes I felt annoyance but I felt sad, happy, and shock all in the same story!! I definitely want to know what happens in book 6!!

The Chairman is after Remi, still. All the Academy workers are gone. The students have to take turns doing KP duty, but they are running out of food. The students prepare for war.

In this book a lot happens. Characters grow, the plot moves forward, lots of things are revealed. I really enjoyed the story.
The downside for me is... Remi... for most of the book she is completely annoying. If this was the first book in the series I'd probably DNF, but since it wasn't I gave it a shot. I don't regret it. I'm waiting to know what happens in the next book.
Brittany Goodwin is an amazing narrator.
