Divorcing her husband after catching him during an S/M liaison with another woman, a successful lawyer finds herself not only revisiting her former fascination with dominant/submissive relationships but actively searching for a man she can dominate.
What her search delivers will prove the most addictive experience of Jeneca Avery’s life.
It will also bring her into contact with the commanding yet strangely submissive man who will change that life in ways she would not have believed possible.
This is book-one of three in B.J. Frazier’s exploration of one-woman’s odyssey in the darker world of sexual power.
An odyssey that will take her from female dominance, to submission, and then back again…
Exotic and thoughtful female-led fiction for the connoisseur of the dominant woman.
B.J. Frazier is an award-winning author of erotica from the U.S. Her professional résumé includes high school English teacher, advertising executive, business owner, certified Master Sexpert, Relationship Coach, Love Coach, and Sexologist. B.J. draws upon her diverse background to create believable and relatable characters and stories.
B.J. also writes from personal experience in Femdom, which adds realism to her stories.
A self-proclaimed feedback whore, B.J. loves to receive feedback from her readers. The comments she never tires of hearing are, "you're so readable" and "your characters are relatable." The stand-out comment is from a very vanilla reader, who said, "I don't mean to be insulting, but I think 'Mistress Managed' can be mainstream!"
When she's not writing or reading, B.J. loves playing games of all kinds (except mind games--though she's good at those, too); board, card, dice, and especially word games. She also loves jigsaw puzzles, but is very particular: The pieces must be thick and interlocking.
Her happy place is Vegas, but she is also happiest spending time with her puppies, daughters, friends… and anything involving chocolate.
This book needs to be made into a motion picture. Or at least an Amazon, Netflix, Hulu, or some other network original production. It's that good. It has fully realized characters we can root for (or against), humor, well drawn scenes of intense sensuality, and a plot that makes this a real page turner.
This is erotica with a heat-to-plot ratio that tilts toward plot without losing any of the heat. It is an intense and romantic drama that unfolds against the background of a legal case involving nasty insurance executives and Mafia figures added to the mix for color.
The writing is superb and the dialog is crisp with the feeling that actual humans may have uttered these words -- something that is much more difficult to do than one might think.
I'm not going to spoil anything by giving away any plot secrets. You'll have to discover these for yourself.
Seriously though, someone in Hollywood needs to option this story and do something with it. Read it and you'll see what I mean.
Still on edge! I can't help but gush over the writings of B. J. Frazier! This is another amazing story filled with memorable characters. I can't wait to continue with parts 2 and 3!
I was really excited when I got asked to review Mistress Managed as both the cover and description intrigued me. I haven’t really read any Femdom fiction before this and I was pleased when an opportunity came up to delve into this particular genre. And this book really didn’t disappoint in any way. It was so hot that it had me squirming in my seat in several places and was so well-written that I couldn’t put it down once I had started reading.
Mistress Managed is about Jeneca Avery, a successful attorney whose own personal life felt less than successful when her husband ran off with another woman. But after some time on her own, she decides that she is ready to move on and she is ready to explore her new-found desire to dominate men sexually. She researches everything in great detail and purchases all the toys she needs before signing up to a site and looking for new boy-toys. And it’s not long before Jeneca has several young men practically begging for her attention.
While I did like Jeneca as a character, she does have a tendency to come across as quite cold and distant. I know that this does fit in well with the fact that she is a Domme, but at the same time, it can make it a little difficult for the reader to feel as if we can get to know her on a deeper level. But it was fun watching the way that her boy-toys would simply drool and melt into a puddle over her cold demeanour!
Keegan is one of the men who Jeneca meets on the site, but he is nothing like the other young men who contact her. For a start, he is a lot older than her other boy-toys. And he is an experienced Dom who is looking for a woman who can help him to explore the more submissive desires that he has been feeling. Even though Jeneca is very reluctant to meet him and dominate him, she feels drawn to him in a way that she doesn’t understand and can’t seem to fight the desire to maintain contact with him, even if it is only via email. I really enjoyed the way that Keegan seemed to draw out a more vulnerable and more human side to Jeneca and I am really looking forward to seeing how things progress between them in the other books in the series.
Mistress Managed is a fairly quick read, but even so, it doesn’t skimp on steamy moments or characters that I can’t wait to learn even more about in the rest of the series. I am really excited to read more of this series and more from this author. I can’t recommend it enough to fans of erotica, and fans of Femdom stories in particular.
This is the best book I’ve read in a long, long time. For the record, it’s my first foray into FemDom... and it’s hot. Frazier’s style suits me to a T and I was quickly swept up in the journey that Jeneca undertakes in this book. The dialog was spot on, the sex scenes were amazing, and I loved the well crafted and realistic characters. Absolutely loved it! The rest of series is already on my must read list. Upcoming authors, pay attention. THIS is how it's done.
If you're used to adult books that have a disingenuous plot, two-dimensional characters, and wooden dialogue, then stay away from this book.
BJ Frazier dares to assume her readers have intelligence, good taste, and enjoy a well-written book. There's conflict (internal and external), character development, and growth that isn't restricted to the inside of the men's pants.
No spoilers here, but let's just say the plot is far more involved than the usual "pizza delivery driver gets more than a tip" drivel. There's potential life-and-death consequences involved as the main character finds her own inner strength.
With its theme of personal discovery, explored across multiple relationships, the first book of Mistress Managed is a captivating read that takes a realistic approach to female empowerment and domination. B.J. Frazier has a flair for characters matched only by her flair for implements of pain and pleasure, and that makes this a compelling read from beginning to end.
Jeneca Avery is a high powered lawyer who has just come out of a divorce with her cheating husband. Hurt by memories of catching him with the maid, and conflicted by her feelings about the power and passion that was on display that day, she begins applying her research skills to learning about BDSM and the power exchange . . . and finds that she’s drawn to the idea of being the one in control.
I loved the amount of detail that Frazier invests in the logistics of the power exchange, detailing how Jeneca goes about finding and vetting submissives, maintaining a professional distance while ensuring the safety of both parties. She’s all about consent, using things like safewords and pain scales, and while she expects absolute obedience, she’s understanding of novice mistakes, being new to the scene herself. We see her exploring crops, nipple clamps, and hot wax, enjoying the act of punishing her submissives and pushing them to their limits. There’s a nice balance within her between self-doubt and excitement, and the thrill she gets from men enjoying their submission to her is fantastic.
What makes the story so interesting, what elevates it from just another series of kinky bondage scenes, is her ongoing dialogue with Keegan. An accomplished dominant, he’s interested in exploring his submissive side with her, but she’s reluctant to grant his request. Their back-and-forth exchange through messages and emails provides great insight into both dominant and submissive motivations, and the contrast between this older, more literate, more experienced man and her younger, more impulsive submissives is an interesting one.
Running alongside the erotic story is a legal thriller involving hospital negligence, insurance executives, and mob ties that allows Jeneca an opportunity shine professionally. It’s a story of curious twists and turns, and finding out how it plays out is as much of a reason to read books Two and Three as the question of how/how things will play out between Jeneca and Keegan. Smart, sexy, and sincere, this is definitely worth a read.
BJ’s prose in this part 1 of the series seems to lift itself off of the page into my imagination effortlessly, and the biggest struggle during the read is the fidgeting that occurs below the waist in those passages that fog the glasses. Good thing readers come three to a pack! The beauty of the author’s storytelling is the believability of the characters - you're convinced you’ve met them before! You know you’re into the right book when you put it down and you forget that the people now around you aren’t part of story (don’t let this happen to you). I’m working my way through the series, book two is even hotter, lord, help me...
Again, this author does a great job with character development, and depth of relationship. She makes the reader care for the main character and her journey. I love the way she writes for everyone and most proclivities. She pulls you in and in this story holds you to want to care for the main character in ways you will never expect. I can't wait to read the next installment.
This is a true book! Much more than an ordinary story spiced up with some erotica. So much more! I always seek strong characters in a book, personalities with substance, but also a solid plot and a style. BJ Frazier ticks all the boxes with this excellent story and she adds a few kinks like you sprinkle chocolate on a cake. I enjoyed the delicacy and hopefully many others will too.
Jeneca Avery is an interesting and complex contemporary woman. We meet her as a successful trial attorney in mid life with all the accouterments associated with success in life - a thriving law practice; a large, lovely home; three grown, well-adjusted daughters; and a loving, devoted husband. Or so she thought until the day she finds her husband, the father of her children, the one and true love of her life, in a frenzied, almost animalistic sexual coupling with their maid, moaning and crying out as as she raked his back with her nails.
The encounter and associated indelible image of her husband so intensely aroused by the erotic combination of pain and pleasure destroyed her marriage even as it stirred something deep within her. Her husband had been her only sexual partner, but she had always been proud of how sexually adventurous they were together and she had never felt her sex life was missing anything. Until now.
The stirring in her libido is confusing to her. She was horrified by the scene of her husband and the maid, but realizes it was the betrayal that horrified her, not the sexual activity she saw and heard. The betrayal and duplicity of her husband broke her heart and shattered their relationship, but the image of a man in a sexual frenzy of passion AND pain had an undeniable erotic appeal for her. It aroused her both sexually and intellectually. Jeneca did not get to where she is without knowing the importance of due diligence. She's not given to rash or careless actions. She prides herself on being thoroughly prepared and that preparation gives her the confidence to take bold action when it is needed. So when she discovers she has erotic needs and desires she has either not recognized or suppressed for too long, she brings these same qualities to her erotic explorations.
The juxtaposition of pain and pleasure in sex naturally brought Jeneca to the world of BDSM. Searching online, she becomes increasingly fascinated and aroused by dominant women using corporal punishment to drive men into a frenzied sexual state. As with all she does, Jeneca pursues this with passion and rigor as she eagerly learns the arts and practices of female domination.
A refreshing aspect of the book is the freedom the author gives to Jeneca new-found sexuality. There are no long reveries or narrative passages about psychological motivations for her transformation. Nor is there any for the men with whom she plays. No seeking absolution, no venting of frustrations, no repressed childhood trauma. Jeneca has just found erotic play that she finds exciting, wildly sexually satisfying, and totally under HER control, and the men with whom she plays are only too happy to share the fun. Jeneca is off on a journey or sexual awakening and we are just along for the ride, not the psychoanalysis.
As the first book in a series, the work also lays down story arcs for characters and events in her professional and private life that will impact her journey in various ways. Some are hinted at, some are clearly teased, but all point the reader toward a continuing, complex, and decidedly exciting journey! Mistress Managed is a fun, engaging, easy-reading adventure that may well awaken or intensify your own erotic curiosity and explorations!
BJ Frazier is an excellent author combining the erotic with a bit of legal mystery. Jeneca Avery, the main character, is a high profile lawyer as well as an aspiring erotic Mistress. This could be a textbook on BDSM and features many different points of view from both the Dom and sub perspectives. It is fast pasted and involves a legal case involving the Mafia. I could feel the tense drama as she matches wits with several sub's and a dom aspiring to be "her sub". The characters are well developed and you can feel her grappling with her role as a power broker both within her legal profession and with the subs that excite her so much. I very much enjoyed this novel and cannot wait to read the next books in this series.
I haven't written a book review before, but this one compels me. Mistress Managed is an engrossing read, with real characters drawn in depth. There is humor, fun details, and little quirks to enjoy as you get to know the characters, too. Not one to jump right into the steamy stuff, the author builds to the first encounter, making it very believable. The sex is hot, but realistically hot.
And while the sex is indeed hot at the start, there is a slow boil building through the first book. Things are going to get stressed, and the author does a great job of leading us along that path and watching the tension build.
And then there is a hilarious side story about our heroine's day job. It adds a ton of intrigue and fun.
I am so used to erotica writers confusing smut for literature, flimsy character, weak plots, and even dull sex. Reading B. J. Frazier is a totally different experience! Her characters and the situations they find themselves in, are totally authentic and 3 dimensional. She is an amazing writer!
And lest there be any confusion, her stories are hotter than hell! Nasty, sometimes shocking, and always exciting. Because she is such a great writer you can feel yourself in her stories.
PS. I’m guessing she’s a she, because I am and she speaks to me in her writing. My gay friends things he’s a he for the same reason. Does anybody know?
Mistress Managed book1 is a great read. Learning what is going on in a new dominate woman’s mind as she navigates her journey into FemDom is engaging. The extensive research she did before playing is admirable and helped her pull off the Domme role even through her fist time. Like all Ms. Frazier books I’ve read so far the I find myself identifying with one or more of the characters , which makes the story that much more intense. By the time the first book ended I couldn’t wait to continue with the story, so make sure you have the rest of the series handy because you won’t want to stop reading.
I loved this book! I've been enthralled by Dommes and femdom for years, and this book felt like it gave me insight into the mind of a dominant woman. Seeing the Mistress' growth and realization of power and control was amazing.
The way she maintained a dominant edge over the other characters in the book was amazing to read. Definitely solidified my love for the dominant woman and leaves me very eager to read more.
This trilogy is well crafted, it compelled me to read the three books in short order. The protagonist is an unusual lady, from her name (Jeneca) to how she incorporated a devastating personal blow, and then dramatically transformed her sexual life.
Jeneca finds good emotional help is her brother, just as she has good professional help at the office.
The femdom scenes with various male subs were highly charged erotic episodes (I confess to interrupting my reading on two occasions to deal with my personal reaction to the scenes).
The trilogy is indeed as BJ Frazier warns upfront —highly developed plot. I found the passages that dealt with both the legal and medical to ring true. All served to advance the two-pronged plot (a legal case and her personal relationships).
I definitely recommend these books as worth your time!
Another B.J. Frazier book, that captivated me right from the beginning. Watching the protagonist Jeneca rise from a betrayed wife to a desirable and coveted Domme, how she discovers a previously unknown world from the betrayal, how she plunges into this world and finds her purpose is so incredibly captivating. And not just because of the extremely hot scenes.
B.J. Frazier introduces Her reader to many other characters - in Her very own detailed way. I know, almost every of my reviews includes following: "I could literally see, sometimes even hear the characters.", but I only write it, because it's nothing but the truth.
Jeneca's journey follows a well-thought-out protocol until a particular man tries to enter Jeneca's world. He awakens desires in her, which she is not sure if she should allow them. An inner struggle begins. I really need to know how everything goes on. Mistress Managed - Book Two, get yourself ready - I'm coming (to read you).
