European Tycoon #1

The Tycoon’s Pregnant Lover

Rate this book
USA Today Bestseller Leslie North invites you to indulge in a steamy billionaire romance with an unforgettable bad boy billionaire and the smart-talking woman who tames him...

Romance novelist Brandy Jackson is not a one-night-stand kind of girl, but with Maximillian Benton, she’s willing to make an exception. Big mistake. Turns out, the charming, handsome man with a sexy British accent is a jerk who’s only interested in laying claim to Landon Castle, the inheritance Brandy received when her beloved grandmother died. But apparently through a cheating attorney, the castle was purchased at auction by Max. When a judge orders them to both live at the castle until the legal matter is resolved, Brandy reluctantly agrees. As big as the castle is, it turns out to be too small for her and Max, who find themselves spending more and more time together. And even though Brandy knows Max isn’t her happily-ever-after, when the heat becomes too much she still gives in to her passion. Bigger mistake. Now she’s pregnant.

Max’s motives for wanting the castle are simple: revenge. A billionaire software designer, Max was swindled by the man who owned the castle, and now it’s sweet payback owning the thing his nemesis loved most. So when his plans are sent awry by a pretty American, he has no choice but to dig in his heels and make sure the castle remains his. Max tries, rather desperately, to ignore his attraction to Brandy and the way his heart expands whenever they’re together. Despite his cynicism about love, he can’t help wondering if Brandy might be different from all the other women he’s met. But when he believes he’s been duped by her sweet smile and sexy body, Max all too readily decides ending what they have is for the best. Happily ever after just isn’t for him. But he can’t shake the feeling he may have lost the best thing in his life…

This novel contains sexual content and profanity.

The beginning of what looks like being a fantastic new series by Leslie. This is Brandy and Max's story. Brand moves to England to take up residence in the castle left to her by her grandmother. Unfortunately Max also has purchased deeds to the same castle. Brandy has nowhere else to live as her grandmother donated her home once it was proved that she could inherit the castle? On taking the matter to court they are told but the judge they must both live in the castle until a judgement is made. The fact that Max and Brandy had a passionate night together before learning any of this makes matters even more awkward.

Brandy thought that is would be a done deal. She was to inherit Landon Castle and she would be living and writing from there. Maximilian has wanted to squash his rival Drakar and taking the castle out from under him was it. He didn’t expect there to be a glitch.

You have to love that these two meet at a bar and no names are exchanged. They don’t know each other till the big meet at the lawyers about the castle. Then they want to just forget about that night and win the prize. Max really could have stepped back but he had too much revenge he was holding on to. It wasn’t her fault. There was some cold hearted movements by Max. I wanted to punch his face. With Max fixated on the past, he almost lost it all. Brandy held on but the hurt you could feel. Thank goodness reason and common sense finally came to play.

This story is about two people having the deeds to a castle both thinking they own it. From there the story gets confusing, messy and a little irritating.

I didn't feel any connection to the characters or their supposed insta love. Brady was annoying. Max was just one dimensional as a character.

The end 'winning' her back was problematic at best. A person can not be stolen away when they are choosing to leave of their own consent. You can't keep them just because you decide to suddenly fight for them.

Not sure why the title is pregnant lover when shes not aware shes even pregnant to move then half way through the book and it ends up having very little to do with the storyline.

This is the first book in the European Tycoon series and focuses on Maximillian (Max) Benton, a billionaire software designer and Brandy Jackson, an American romance writer.

I didn't feel any connection to the MCs and the writing just didn't work for me. At times descriptions were too much.

This wasn't an awful read but it didn't have me smiling as I had hoped and was rather forgettable.

This was a great story about love and trust. The hero can't believe the heroine's motives, and since they both want the castle, they both are at odds. And, when they find out about the baby, they find their love can conquer all! I received an advanced reader's copy from Netgalley in exchange for my honest review.

I am voluntarily writing this review for this book I received through Booksprouts arc.

Max was sitting at the bar and he noticed a women sitting down he turned around trying not to notice her. He asks her if she was an American and she told him yes. She thought he was maybe a movie star or someone they would use for the romance books that she wrote. Max and Brandy spend the night together. Brandy goes to the lawyers office the next day with her deed to the castle. The attorney was taken back since Max was suppose to take over. When Max comes in to the room he couldn’t believe it was his last night fling and now he knew her name. Max was going after the castle to get revenge. Since both of them had a deed the judge told them they would have to live in the castle until the thing was settled. They each took their own wing and made no bones about how they felt about each other and the castle. Brandy decided she was going to look around and wanders into the ballroom. She found a phonograph and started to play some music and danced around until she felt a hand on her. Brandy looks around while Max was out she found the library and a photo book. Brandy found a picture of herself when she was young. Brandy took him down the secret passage way and they found a solarium with flowers growing. Then wind up hooking in front of the beautiful fireplace. They have been trying to stay out of each other’s way for the last four weeks both denying each other. Brandy finds out that she was pregnant and it was Max’s baby how was she going to be a single mother. She tells Max that she is pregnant and he tries to make things a business proposition. Finally she decided to move out of the castle she couldn’t take it any longer. Max realizes that he made a huge mistake and when he went to make amends she was gone from the castle. Max had no idea where she had gone.

Brandy was raised in the States by her grandmother. When her grandmother passed away, she left her a Castle in England and home she was living in was sold from under her. No one knows why her grandparents did the things they did with hardly any rim or reason. She decided to move England, since she did not have any other place else to live. Her first night there, she decided to have an adventure. She stayed at one of the expensive hotel's and went to the bar. Her and a guy ended up hooking up, but neither knew who the other person was, and he was gone the next morning. Brandy went to the attorney to take possession of the castle the next morning and was told there was another owner, but she had her deed, so they called the other alleged owner into the office and it was decided they would have to go to court. The judge told them they would both have to live in the castle together for the next 90 days until he could unravel the mess. They move into the castle, each in their own wing. Max knows full well Brandy has clear ownership to the castle, but he has worked too hard getting to this point to back off now, this is the last thing to the fall of his nemesis.

Forced cohabitation
Coincidences, mystery and romance: it's a good mix between the characters and the story. The story is very well written, sometimes touching.
Brandy is an American author who inherits a castle in Britain. On her way, she meets Max and spends the night with him, then the next day, he leaves before she wakes up. Yet she quickly sees him again because they both discover that there is a problem: they are both owners, probably with false documents for one of them. The judge needs time and he offers to cohabit in the castle while he checks the documents.
They tend not to support themselves in this situation and although attracted to each other, they avoid each other. Moreover, Max finds it difficult to trust anyone in his professional branch and he doubts Brandy and her presence near him.

The Tycoon's Pregnant Lover is the first book in Leslie North’s European Tycoons and begins this brand-new series in true Ms North fashion. The story is packed with witty dialogue, fun and interesting characters and a whole lotta “WTF”. Sexy times turn into a battle of wills and there is no shortage of drama, angst and off the charts chemistry too! I really liked Max and Brandy’s personas and the support cast added depth and substance to this first of the series. I’m looking forward to the next exciting instalment.

I really enjoyed this story! Yes, you could say it is somewhat predictable, but I really enjoyed the scenery and storyline between Max (and his friends) and Brandy. Brandy was a fun character to read, she tries hard, means well and is very relatable. The situation/storyline was very pleasant to read and offered a great escape. In fact, I enjoyed the escape so much I will probably re-read this story several more times.

Definitely worth the cost of the book and I recommend reading!

The Tycoon's Pregnant Lover was a pleasant short story set to capture the heart of every romantic out there who dreams of foreign lands, ancient castles and a charming Englishman to boot. After all, how many Englishmen these days come with their own castle?

The overall plot of the story, without giving too much away, is one we have seen before and done here and there, the only difference being that this time unlike what is normally at stake, which is usually a house or property of some sort, the game is upped in a refreshing twist with the two main characters having to occupy a castle for a set amount of time. This small change of scenery from using a castle instead of a house makes the story a unique one, as I cannot think of another time I have read a book with this plot.

As for the characters, on the whole I found them to be mostly amusing. Both possessed personality traits you would expect out of an independent female character, and a rich, classy, self-important male billionaire character type. Though when thrown together for the most part, they were amusing and scenes in which they were written together with no outside factors in the first half of the story. In the latter half of the story as it progressed, building up to the ending, the amusing nature of the characters wore off and it was interesting to see where the two of them would go, and how they would bounce off each other to get there.

The only criticisms I can find to say about this book, is that it wasn't longer, and the fact that you don't get to the point about the pregnancy until over halfway. I expected it to happen a lot sooner. There is so much potential to expand this story to include the little details that we readers like to come across. Things that were mentioned--albeit briefly--in this story, that weren't expanded on. The briefest of details were laid out for us to read, but that was about it. For example, when mentioned where the main character had come to in the book, that was as far as it went. There was no extra detailing about the area other than its name. I would've liked when these moments arose within the story, to have been fed a little more before feeling like we were rushing onto the next point.

All criticism aside, my points above being the only one, I got into the story with ease and would happily read this story again. The good parts about this read most definitely outweigh the two criticisms I've outlined, and would be worth expanding upon if someday making it a possibility.

This has been my first time reading a Leslie North write, and I'm definitely going to be diving into more of her reads in the future. Especially if the characters are like Max and his English charm.

Locked in a castle together

The Tycoon’s Pregnant Lover is the first book in the European Tycoon series and introduces the reader to Maximillian (Max) Benton, a billionaire software designer and Brandy Jackson, an American romance writer. They initially meet and share one passion filled night when she arrives in town. But after that they have a love-hate relationship as they battle not only their feelings but each other for ownership of Landon Castle. She wants it for sentimental reasons as she inherited it from her beloved grandmother while he wants it for pure and simple vengeance. He believes that he has purchased the castle at auction, but that was before Brandy showed up to claim it. As they start to battle it out in court the judge tells them to live in the castle together. They start to spend more time together and the walls start to fall around them as they get to know each other. When Brandy finds herself "up the duff" then things become even more interesting.

While the story held promise for this book I did not think it was pulled off with the normal polish that I have come to expect from this author. I was left wanting to know more about both Brandy and Max as their backstories were barely touched on, which left me unable to connect with them. The story-line was okay but it just felt like it never really got into a groove and some things were confusing as details were missing. I hate to give a book a bad review and rating but with this one I think it could have been so much better. I am hoping that the next books in this series are a lot better.

I received an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review. My opinions are all my own so agree with them or not as everyone's tastes are different.

Leslie does it again! The story line is entertaining and the characters are very likable with great chemistry between them. An enjoyable read and a great start to a new series.

Romance novelist has inherited the Landon Castle after a family member passes away so she moves to England to claim her property. Upon arrival she finds out that handsome billionaire Maximillian Benton, a software designer also holds claim to the castle after buying it at auction. Now a judge is ordering both of them to live in the castle until the matter of ownership is resolved. The castle is big enough for them to both live there so Brandy agrees to the judge's terms.

As she and Max spend more time together, she realizes the castle may not be big enough for the two of them as they seem to be spending a lot of time together. When the heat and chemistry between them only increases, they give in to their passion.

Max is determined to own the castle and not let a pretty American sway his determination to become the owner of the castle. He tries hard to not be attracted to Brandy every time they're together but the heart wants what the heart wants.

Brandy isn't a one night stand type of person and she knows Max isn't the right person for her happily ever after. Max isn't interested in happily ever after and after a time of passion together, Max decides they can't have a future together but will he lose the best thing that's happened to him if he lets her go?
Will Brandy being pregnant with his child cause each of them to change their minds about a future together?

This book left so many questions unanswered that I actually wondered if I was missing half the pages!

The blurb for the story says "But apparently through a cheating attorney, the castle was purchased at auction by Max." Really? Because nothing about this is mentioned in the book. Max mentions several times how much his nemesis loved the castle and talked about how he looked forward to inheriting it when they were at school.

This implies that he honestly believed he was going to inherit it. It's even mentioned that he had either lived there or spent a lot of time there as a boy (I can't remember which it was now). Max even says near the end that this person must be related somehow to Brandy. That's it, no explanations at all.

What was in the letter that Brandy's father wrote when she was seven? Why did she live with her grandmother from when she was born? How did her father come to own the castle? Did he buy it? (Implying that he was very wealthy). Had it been in their family?

What about the photo album? A big deal is made about it but we are told nothing except that it had some photos of Brandy in it.

There's no character background or development. We're told nothing about Brandy's parents or Max's nemesis's motives and both of these would have helped us understand the two mcs, about whom we don't know much either.

The ending was just flat. It was as though the author set up this whole mystery and then had no idea how to solve it so she just wimped out of it.

This is the first book I've read by this author and it left me so irritated that I certainly won't be reading any more.

Brandy is a romance writer and her grandmother raised her. After her grandmother passed she learned that her father owned a castle in London that was hers. She had nowhere to go so she packs her things and goes to London to claim the castle as her new home. When she arrives she stays her first night at a hotel and goes to the bar to hang out for a bit. When Max sees Brandy he knows that she will be his for the night. Brandy doesn't usually go home with someone after just meeting them but there's something about Max that has her forgetting her rules for one night. The next morning she awakes alone and goes to see her lawyer about the castle only to learn that it has been sold without her permission. What is surprising is the other person that is claiming the castle turns out to be Max her one night stand. The judge ends up making them share the castle until he can decide on what to do about it. Max and Brandy sparks banter back and forth until it gives way to some heat. Then they end up in bed together again. A misunderstanding has Max ending things with Brandy and wanting her away from him. Will Max see that Brandy is the woman for him before its too late? Can Brandy forgive Max for how he treated her?

This is an amazing story that will captivate you from beginning to end. The chemistry between them is blazing hot. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend this book to any book lover.

They had a hot and heavy one night stand before they discovered they were adversaries in a battle both needed to win. At stake for Brandy... a castle that was bequeathed to her and once owned by her father she never really knew... for Max, a property he has managed to wrest away from a man he despises. Neither wants to give up a claim to the castle, so they abide by the judges decree that they both reside in the castle for ninety days until a final ownership decision will be made. Each has a wing of the castle to reside in, though they do cross each other’s path all too often. Both cannot forget their passionate night together, and both wish for a repeat. Their attitudes toward each other begin to soften as they make new discoveries about each other, and the castle. Brandy and Max give into their desires for each other, and seem to come to understanding about what the future might hold, especially after discovering that she is pregnant. All too soon a misunderstanding, and a seeming betrayal put distance between them, causing Brandy to flee the castle and Max. Will they find a way back to each other, or will Max let past hurts and betrayals come between him and the woman he has come to love? Will he learn to trust Brandy and his own heart? Will Brandy forgive him and reach toward a future with Max?Read this engaging and intriguing book to see what happens next!

I received a free copy of THE TYCOON’S PREGNANT LOVER (Book 1 of the European Tycoons) by Leslie North in exchange for an honest review. Novelist Brandy Jackson’s life is in flux; she has moved to Europe to claim her inheritance, Landon Castle. On her first night in the area, she allows herself to be seduced into a one-night stand. Brandy’s not surprised to wake up to find her lover gone from the hotel room, but she’s incredibly surprised to find out he’s contesting her claim to her inheritance. Max Benton is a self-made billionaire security software designer who is on a quest for revenge against a man who stole his intellectual property and broke his sister’s heart. To this end, he purchased the castle sold as part of the man’s bankruptcy assets. When the matter goes to court, the judge orders the pair to spend ninety days together in the castle while he researches the validity of the deeds. At first, Max refuses to be kind to the charming American author, but he thaws over time. Soon, they’re enthusiastically engaging in a love affair. However, Max’s scars from past betrayals raise roadblocks to their relationship at about the same time Brandy discovers they will soon share a child in addition to a castle.

This was a pretty good story. I liked the fact that Max’s misbehavior isn’t derived from misogyny aimed at all women; instead, it was a defense mechanism aimed at preventing him from creating any new relationships.

Book One Has Just The Right Amount of Energy for this New Series.
This is a ridiculously fun first book in the European Tycoon Series by author Leslie North. For anyone not familiar with North, she is gifted and skilled at writing modern romances.
This new series begin in the UK, with the British Tech Billionaire, Max coming up against the successful American Author, Brandy, who has come over to lay claim to Landon Castle that was left to her by her grandmother. Unfortunately, Max has just bought said castle and now a judge must decipher who is the legal heir. In the meantime they are to reside in the castle until resolved. As you can imagine that’s when the fun, love, and all sorts of misunderstandings take place.
Bottom Line: Ms North is giving us another promising series and book one was a treat to dig my toes in and wriggle around. I love the major and minor characters no matter how much/little time spend on a page as it never felt superfluous. In fact sometimes a person can stroll onto a page, say a couple of sentences, never speak again, and yet it’s just the perfect catapult.
Without question I’m recommending this book for your reading enjoyment and pleasure. Also, I’m so very much looking to book two as I have a giddy suspicion about who it will be. Peace.

This is a lovely story from Leslie Knight, OK, it is a bit predictable but it doesn't take away from the enjoyment.
American Brandy Jackson inherited an English castle when her beloved grandmother died, Tycoon Max didn't know this and was desperate to buy it for personal reasons. Due to a dishonest attorney the Landon castle came up for auction and millionaire tycoon Max bought it,.
Brandy sold up in America and moved to England where, in a hotel bar she met Max, neither knew about the others involvement with the castle and the chemistry between them was instant , although Brandy wasn't a one night stand kind of girl, they spent a torrid night of sex together but she woke up alone.
The next time they met was in the judges office, both were astounded but neither were willing to give up the castle so the judge ordered both of them to live there until things could be sorted.
After a cool start romance blossomed and things went well ....until they didn't. Max made accusations against Brandy, who had just realised that she was pregnant, things went pear shaped and Brandy left the castle.
If you are looking for an edge of your seat action and suspense then this probably isn't the book for you but if you are looking for a quick enjoyable story, laced with romance then this could be it

Brandy is in Great Britain to claim her inheritance - Landon Castle. She's side-tracked in York by a charming Brit, and they share in incredibly hot night together. However, when she meets with the lawyer the next day, Max shows up. Apparently, there are two deeds to the castle. He's intent on keeping the castle, in revenge for a misdeed done to him, his family, and his business. Not only does the judge need 90 days to determine ownership, he decrees that Brandy and Max must both live in the castle in the interim. Max spends his time working, and trying to NOT think about her and that night. She tries to work, but is so distracted by thoughts of him and that night. And she seems to thrive on challenging him, especially when he thinks that it's his place to make decisions that affect both of them. What will happen between them when she finds out that she's pregnant? How will that affect ownership of the castle? I love this new series - this is a terrific first book. I was sucked in from the first page, and was nearly done before I realized it. The characters have such wonderful chemistry - they can't seem to stay away from each other, even when they're mad. I'm looking forward the the next book in the series.

Who will own the castle? This storyline started brilliantly, with the promise of many moments of tension and hilarity even. The stakes for both Brandy and Max were high, the ownership of a real English castle. Add to that the undeniable sexual attraction our main character still have for each other, regardless of them being on the opposite side of the fence, you should end up with a great book. I am however disappointed, as many of the tension points were left in mid-air, unexplained. How they both ended up with the deeds was not satisfactorily explained. Many of the relationships which led to conflict and emotional scarring were left unaddressed, merely mentioned. There was a grand ballroom, not to mention a secret passage leading from the vast library which should have given fertile ground for the imagination. However, when there is a baby, it very often makes people sort out priorities and childish insecurities and behavior are left behind. There is an HEA and good editing added to the experience. However, I would like to see this book rewritten in parts and missing facts added for clarity.

This is book number 1 in the European Tycoon Book series. Brandy Jackson is a romance novelist who inherits Landon Castle when her grandmother died. Maxmillian Benton is sexy, swoony, billionaire software designer with a British accent. But there is a mistake made when he also claims he owns Landon Castle and they are forced to see a judge that decides that the two of them will both live in the castle. Max was raised by his grandmother, has one sister named Bettina and he doesn't trust that easily. The chemistry and passion between Brandy and Max is off the charts and they finally give into temptation one night and that leads to Brandy getting an unexpected surprise. When she tells Max this new he freaks out and she moves in with his sister Bettina. Will secrets, lies, betrayal get in the way of them having a relationship. Max also learns that Brandy uses a pen name when writing her books with this little bit of information that he finds out they are able to move forward. Will these two get there happily ever after you will have to read the book because I don't want to spoil it for you.
