Ozma is the third book in the Faeries of Oz series written by Candace Robinson and Amber R. Duell. I've read the previous two plus the prequel short story, and I will definitely read the last one, Tik-Tok, when it's released at the end of the year. What an elaborate, imaginative, and mind-altering collection of characters, some of whom we've been greatly fascinated by since childhood... others that now challenge all our previous perceptions of the magical land of Oz.

Jack's lover is trapped, just like he is, in Mombi's world of pumpkin horrors. Their physical love scenes kicking off the book are intense and exciting. I immediately rooted for them and wanted to to thrash the witch... but then, when one of them dies, and we find out the truth of his identity, everything changes. We know this character; (s)he's someone we've met in previous books. And this is another case of those we thought good might actually be bad. And those who seemed evil are as pure as snow. Ozma appears in this book too. She's the rightful heir to Oz, despite what the witches have said and done, especially Mombi and the grand Wizard. What is he up to? And how will he be stopped?

At the conclusion of this book, we're left with a huge leap forward and a giant pause -- what could possibly happen next, and how does the pirate Tik-Tok fit in? Duell and Robinson tease us with brilliant characters and plots, offering more than just fight scenes, magical spells, and vicious revenge. There is lust and greed, love and pain, friendship and hope. As dark as Oz has become, there are some who want to do the right thing... and it takes a wise group of inhabitants to seek their freedom.

With all the autumn scenes, boundary-less love options, sexual appetites, growing fury, and curious magic, each chapter delivers an intense ride. So much planning went into this storyline, and it's coming off seamlessly. I get caught up in the lives of Jack, Ozma, and others only to find myself reminded of (and missing) Dorothy, Crow, Lion, and the TinMan. I'm intentionally being vague so that I don't give too much away.

If you're looking for a twisty, lusty, dark tale focusing on those you thought were innocent, this is it! Put away your childhood notions and think about the true core of a human's needs, and then marry those intentions with the unknown creativity of the faery realm. Wild, wicked, and warped! But you won't put it down either.

Ozma is the third installment in the Faeries of Oz series. In it, you will meet Ozma, Tip, Mombi and Jack. I'll admit that the romance, heartache, and magic were pretty easy to devour but I came for Ozma. She wants her power and she's damn ready for revenge people!

It was honestly pretty entertaining from start to finish. I liked how we got to meet all the characters we've already seen in the previous two books and the novella. But it was also pretty neat to see Ozma going through everything at the same time. Then there's the romance which made my heart very happy but the secrets were the best part.

Or maybe it's just me?

In the end, I'm definitely ready for some pirates.

Story of Oz for adults just keeps getting better, more intense and more intriguing! Candace Robinson’s & Amber R. Duell's OZMA tells of a baby, hidden by magic, her own powers suppressed who falls in love. What happens when the curse is broken and she becomes who she really is? Will the love of her life recognize her? Will he want her? Will he want someone bent on revenge or will he join her on her quest to save Oz from pure evil and deceit, even as she plays her own game of deception?

Fairy tales are not just for kids. The magic of the land of Oz shouldn’t be just a children’s tale, because what about what happens later?

Fall in love with this series about the reimagining of The Wizard of Oz, see the dark side and find a new adventure of daring and romance!

I received a complimentary ARC edition from Candace Robinson! This is my honest and voluntary review.

I found the third book in the series to be lacking compared to the first two.

As always, I really liked how Candace and Amber weave the characters from all the Oz books into their story, it adds such a different and refreshing take to any Oz retellings authors undertake.

Jack and Ozma's characters seemed to have no substance except for their lust and desire for each other. That's it. I felt the plot breezed through the conflict but focused heavily on their feelings for each way too much and in I read it til the end out of my love for the series but it didn't grip my interest like the previous novels.

I loved how all the characters came together and bounced off each other, adding to the dynamic relationships. Still a great series all-in-all and I can't wait to see how everything and everyone comes together at the end!

2 stars = just ok, with nits. This was my least favorite of the books in the series. The Oz elements, other than the characters, were thin and there was way too many sexual bits thrown in - many were MM, which is not my cuppa. Unlike the second book Crow, this book had less background story and more smex - and I skimmed most of that. The lead for the next book was introduced, but this book killed my interest in the series and I don't plan on continuing.

This series keeps getting better!
Robinson & Duell deliver yet another amazing book in the Faeries of Oz series. And I have to say, Ozma may be my favourite (so far). Her relationship with Jack is so complex, yet their unbreakable bond and love for one another are the things dreams are made of. If you've read the first two books, I have no doubt you're going to love this one even more.

I have loved this series so far, but this book just didn't do it for me. It didn't have the same romantic tension and build up that the other two books had. I also felt like going up against Mombi and the Wizard just moved too fast and seemed too easy. I liked all of the characters separately, but all together they just didn't impress me and fell a bit flat.

So TIN is still my favorite book in the series, but OZMA is a close second. I am so impressed with the authors’ abilities to turn a very well known world into a unique and original one.

I was immediately drawn into the chemistry that was Jack and Tip, but when Tip transformed back into Ozma, I was very worried they were not going to have the same kind of chemistry. Boy, was I wrong!? I still felt the heat and passion between Jack and Ozma.

The only critique I have of this book is that Jozma (that’s their couple name now, btw) destroyed the two baddies in this book really quickly and once they were gone, I had a hard time focusing. There was A LOT of things going on in this story and I was hoping it would have been more linear or centralized like TIN was.

I also felt like because one of the baddies died pretty early on, the book felt longer than the previous 2. However, I can’t complain about that because I’m sincerely obsessed with all of these characters and I could follow them all around everywhere!!

I can’t wait to keep reading the final book in the series TikTok (who showed up in the end of Ozma - which through me off a little bit to be honest)!

When Ozma was born she was kidnapped by the witch Mombi and turned into a boy. Many years later she's able to break the curse and finds out that she's the true queen of Oz. But her freedom is brief since the wizard incarcerates Ozma in a dark and brutal world. Jack, who also slaves away at Mombi's, thinks that Tip (Ozma) has died and tries to find solace with different lovers, while planning his escape. After two years Ozma manages to get away from the dark world and she only has two goals: reunite with Jack and kill Mombi and the wizard.

In this re-telling of Oz there's really not much similarities to the original story. I still get some of the same feeling from this magical land of Oz, although this version is both darker and more cruel. Also, the characters are all adults - and involved in a lot of X-rated situations! 😉

I like Jack and Tip/Ozma, but I don't always understand their actions. I'm annoyed that Jack believes what Mombi's telling him about Tip, and that Ozma doesn't immidiately tell Jack that she is/was Tip. It feels unrealistic that Ozma seems to think that it'll be easy to kill Mombi and the wizard. They both have powerful magic, and Ozma hasn't gained hers back yet. But I'm sure they will allow her to get close enough to put a knife in their chests...? 🙄

Unrealistic and annoying moments aside, it's still very entertaining to be in Robinson's and Duell's version of Oz! I'm looking forward to reading Tik-Tok's story next!

Many thanks to author for providing e-copy, in exchange for an honest review.

Ozma was interesting third instalment in Faeries of Oz series that revolved around Ozma and Jack’s love story, Ozma seeking revenge and trying to get her powers back. The story was about revenge, power, greed, betrayal, forgiveness, and love.

Ozma was fantastic character. I enjoyed reading how much she changed not just in body but from inside as well. I loved her transformation from Tip to Ozma.

Jack didn’t make great first impression. He was cocky, sneaky, confident, and cheeky. What was revealed about him was surprising.

World was amazing. I enjoyed reading more land explored in this.

Romance was hot and steamy with sizzling chemistry.

Overall, Ozma was adventurous, entertaining, sexy and dark retelling of Wizards of Oz.

Ozma is the third book in the Faeries of Oz series, but there’s also a prequel - Lion - which is just as fantastically shocking and memorable and really just all around as amazing as the others. This is the fourth five star review I’m giving this series, and I wish it was possible for me to give it a 6 or even a 7. It's my favorite so far, second to Tin. Not only because of the unique circumstances within the book, but also because the main character transformed - and so it really feels like two love stories in one, all the while the world building is amazing. A big fat thank you to the authors who have given me a free copy in exchange for an honest review, I love love love these books! Seriously have devoured each one in a mater of days, and in my crazy busy life that says a lot! I've practically gulped them in one swallow and am chomping at the bit for Tic Tok, which is coming up next!

The Faeries of Oz books are each a spin off in the Land of Oz where Dorothy is much more than a regular human who was taken away years ago. She returned to find out the wicked witches weren't as they seemed nor was the good witches! Nor was the land, or the beasts, the curses/magic, or even her favorite friends Lion, Tin nor Crow. Everything about the Land of Oz is twisted, captivating, shocking and packed to the brim with hot sexy secrets!

Ozma is one of a kind. She spent a very long time under the curse of Mombi, or horrible witch using the blackest of magic to help Oz, the Wizard himself, to gain what they wanted together. Ozma lived in the body of a powerless male fae named Tip. Together he and his love, Jack, took tare of Mombi's pumpkin patch. They were stuck there by her magic, until Tip/Ozma broke free of her power and her true form came to be. She's actually a powerful fae of royal blood, and her mission is shocking!

Mombi and Oz ripped off her wings and sent her to a place of darkness where she spent two years. There she met up with Reva who is an MC in Book 2. They tie together flawlessly. Jack is led to believe the whole time that the love of his life is dead. When she returns as Ozma in her true form, on a mission to kill Mombi and Oz, she finds Jack with another fae and lies to him about who she really is. From here everything picks up! They wind up traveling together, and unbraiding each of one anothers truths. From magic to pirate ships, dark creatures, zombies and more the two take on quite a journey!

This book will be released in less than two weeks. It can easily be read as a stand alone, but I highly suggest downloading either Lion or Tin right freaking now and getting a start on the whole series. It's breath taking!

Once again, Candace and Amber have done it. It seems as if every time I get a new offer to read the next book I fall more in love with it. The story of Ozma (and Jack) was no different.

This picks up right where Crow’s epilogue left off with Reva and Ozma going off to kill Locasta and The Wizard. From the beginning of Ozma it starts hot and never stops. There’s action, love, hurt, consequences and perseverance. I loved watching Ozma’s journey to transform into her old self and her journey finding Jack was so sweet! I loved everything about it. I loved the way Jack was with her and the way he tried to understand her. But I don’t want to spoil it for anyone so I’ll stop while I’m ahead.

The plot was well done. The pacing was great and the characters had fantastic arcs & stayed true to themselves, even when they didn’t want too. The way this book was structured was well done. It spaced out the action enough, but still allowed the romance points to fill up the breaks in action. It was fantastic! I can’t wait to see where the story goes next!

Thank you to Candace & Amber for allowing me to read this early! All opinions are my own.

What an opening chapter, wow! An amazing Oz and Jack and the Beanstalk mashup retelling - spicy romance bordering on horror, in true Candace Robinson fashion.

It starts off as a love story between two young male slaves indentured to the witch who does black magic for the Wizard of Oz. Except Tip isn’t really who he believes himself to be, nothing about him is real, not even his gender. And Jack’s magic has also been bound. Minutes into reading things are turned on their head and it’s hold your horses paced reading after that, phew!

I loved Jack pining for Tip and Ozma’s guilt over whether and how to tell Jack her biggest baddest secret. Or two. Loved the raw, fierce love story, warts and all (and I mean adultery and swearing), loved Ozma and Jack discovering their magic, loved their journey to get to the wizard. In the last 100 pages the story turned into a proper horror, flesh-eating zombies and loss of bodyparts and such, but I wanted to find out how it all ends, so skimmed the heebie-jeebies. Was glued to the pages, did not want to put this mashup retelling down! Fascinated by TikTok and the bargain Ozma made, so will pick up that book next.

Recommended for lovers of diverse and bipoc retellings, especially the Wizard of Oz with elements of Jack and the Beanstalk encased in spicy romantasy with an edge of horror.

Thank you to Candace and Amber for once again giving me the absolute delight of reading the pre-release of Ozma.

I love this series with all of my heart and feel incredibly lucky that I get the chance to be so involved with the stories.

Ozma is on her way to defeat the Wizard and reclaim her magic, but she can't stop thinking about Jack who is still trapped under Mombi's curse. Travelling back to her old home, Ozma reunites with her beloved but both are very different people. Can they rebuild what they lost or will they lose what they once had?

This has been such a great series, and Ozma's story was one of my favorites. I was eager to learn more about her after being introduced to her and some of her history in a previous book. She went through so much but always kept pushing forward. And I was really rooting for her and Jack. There were definitely some diabolical bad guys in this, and danger always seemed to be lurking around the corner. I could not put this down and loved seeing how everything played out. And I am definitely excited for the next book after meeting the character it will center on.

This series is fantastic and this book is no different. You can’t help but get all the feels for Ozma and Jack in more ways than one. There is so much complexity and deepness to this book that leaves you breathless but the authors twist in humor and romantic tingles to help the book be a power punch of amazingness. You get to follow this Oz retelling biting your nails and sitting on the edge of your seat needing to know what happens next. I was laughing, swooning, crying, and wanting revenge right there with them and still feel this book in my soul even after finishing it hours ago.

“It was as if ice were slowly encasing her body. But it wasn’t. Instead, she was falling through the floor of the hut. Falling and falling through wintry coldness, until she collapsed onto a hard surface.”

I absolutely loved Ozma and think it may be my favourite in the series thus far. The main characters Ozma & Jack are absolutely precious and are sadly damaged. Right from the beginning my heart strings were being tugged and was rooting for these two to have a HEA. Ozma is kind, determined and braver then she thinks she is. And Jack who has been so abused and often thinks he isn’t worthy of happiness is full of so much goodness, no matter how much he wants to suppress it. I not only highly recommend this book but Tin and Crow as well. They are relatively quick reads, with adventure romance a bit of steam and of course Fae in Oz which is amazing!

This series is so addicting - the books aren't very long and they move fast without making you feel like you missed major things.

As with the first two books of the series, there's definitely some steamy scenes throughout as well as some fairly graphic violence. Both feel balanced (neither feels gratuitous) and the authors don't shy away from giving us details and completing each scene.

Both Ozma and Jack have such different voices when we get chapters from their POV, and even Tip's voice really felt unique, which is something I love.

I'm looking forward to Tik-Tok's story next! (Also, I don't really enjoy the original Oz stories and movies, but I really like what CR and ARD did with this world and the characters.)

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

“Ozma” is the third installment on the “Faeries of Oz” Series by Candace Robinson & Amber R. Duell, who excel in expanding the world of the classical Wizard of Oz with brand-new elements to craft an extraordinary epic fantasy series, with a fantastic world-building and multidimensional characters that feel real and credible at all times.

“Ozma” is a fantastic story, which touch on tropes of identity, loss, power, freedom, love, and redemption, embodied into a flawless plot that captivates from the very first moment. Ozma and Jack, both are victims of Mombi’s tyranny. Both have been thorned out from their homes as children and forced to serve the witch anyway she has seen fit. In this hunger for power, Mombi, strapped Ozma not only of her home but even her own identify, turning her into a boy, to hide her true identity as the True Queen. Eventually Ozma broke the curse and discover who and what she really is, returning to Oz and looking for Jack. But their own happiness still has to wait, even with Mombi gone, the danger stills remains, only when the Wizard is finally vanquishes, will Oz have a shot to return to its former self.

“Ozma” takes adult readers back to Oz, with wonderful, fully fleshed characters that, despite their ‘fantasy’ outlook are very credible and entirely relatable at all times. It’s a gripping tale, with ups and downs, twists, heartbreak and recovery, and everything needed in a perfectly executed fantasy tale.

The writing duo Robinson and Duell works seamlessly together, impossible to tell them apart in the story, which is in fact an extraordinary feat, that makes the story even easier to follow from cover to back, they do an amazing job of evolving Oz, adding and evolving the world organically, captivating the reader from the very first page and taking them along for the fast-paced, action filled ride. A real unputdownable book, whose only side-effect could be a lack of sleep the day after reading 😊 balanced by a feeling of utterly satisfaction, and dreaming is the best medicine but anyway sleep is fully overrated…. This story provides you with tons of the first, so what if it takes some of the later 😉

I absolutely LOVE the original story of Ozma, so I knew this was going to be my favorite, but it still surpassed my expectations by so much! This is book three in the series Faeries of Oz by Candace Robinson and Amber R. Duell. Ozma, the TRUE heir to the throne of Oz is making her way to extract revenge on those who harmed her. Specifically Mombi, the evil witch who not only stole Ozma as a baby, stole her magic, also changed her entire identity including her sex, but also kept her as a slave; then there was the Wizard, mortal by nature, but stole her shoes (silver slippers), stole her magic and then killed her parents. The only other thing on Ozma's mind is finding Jack, her true love, also a slave to Mombi. Ozma makes her journey and she is ready to kick ass and ask names later. I absolutely love Ozma and her sweet but fierce personality as well as the intense deep love connection her and Jack share. This book followed her entire journey after she splits ways with Reva until her big fight with the Wizard. Will she succeed? If she does, what will it cost her? Jack? Her throne? Her magic? Is she ready to accept those costs in order to kill Mombi and Oz? Lots of twists and turns. I couldn't put it down and read in one sitting! I miss Ozma and Jack already, but I know we will get a peak at her life in book 4, "TikTok", which focuses on a pirate they met on their journey for revenge!

Candace and Amber are next-level teases! Ozma starts off with a tendril of steam and I spent the rest of my time chasing it. I actually started skimming paragraphs for my next naughty fix! They have me conditioned. Don't worry, though, I went back and read it all. I wouldn't miss it.

Things I learned while chasing that next steamy hit: This is not the most steamy book in the series, but it is definitely the darkest.

Ozma is on a quest to find and rescue her love, Jack, but she's also out for revenge. She wants to slay the witch who imprisoned her and retrieve the ruby slippers from the Wizard.

Sure, there's some great gender identity monologue and an insane amount of miscommunication, but this is an adventure. A twisted adventure. This book is sometimes more horror than fantasy, and I loved it! When a story makes me so surprised that I message an author to ask 'What the hell?', I know I'm getting an experience.

Also, we meet Tik-Tok, and I am very excited to read his story!

Honestly, I only gave four stars because Ozma felt a little rushed. I wish I'd had more time to get to know the characters and savor the accomplishments. The pace made it seem like this story is more of a bridge between books two and four. A lot happens, and it's all very important, but I got the distinct feeling that the real story comes next, and I'll be first in line to read it!

Another fun instalment!

A land to remake...
He believed his lover dead. She’s the true Queen of Oz. Together they will fight through the darkness. Ozma’s life has never been her own. Stolen, spelled, and enslaved by a witch, she never imagined she could be the true Queen of Oz. Now that she has broken her curse and returned to Oz, she vows to kill the the fae who held her captive. But first, she seeks to reunite with her lover, Jack.
Jack, too, was stolen as a child, and forced to toil as the witch’s slave. When he’s told that his lover died, Jack resigns himself to a miserable life. His only solace is an array of lustful companions that remind him of the one he lost. The happily ever after Ozma hoped for vanishes when she discovers Jack isn’t who he once was. But neither is she. And the secrets she keeps could bring them closer or break them apart. For good.

Honestly, I just find this series easy, fun, and enjoyable. It's hitting the spot for me. I love anything Oz related and the original books. It's an entertaining adult retelling.

Ozma and Jack are some of my favourite Oz characters and I liked this version of their later life events.
