Poker:

Krory, trapped with seemingly no hope of escape, receives a visitation from the last person he thought he would ever see again. As for his comrades, they continue their struggle through the Ark until they meet up with Tyki Mikk, who wishes a palaver with Allen Walker before there is any further fighting. Allen reluctantly agrees, unaware that Lavi is feverishly mulling over mounting evidence that Innocence is far more, and far stranger, than anyone had previously imagined!

4/5 Still trapped and trying to escape The Ark Allen finally gets his rematch with Tiki Mykk. Lavi is left to to deal with Road Kamelot. Another action packed volume and the series is pretty unrelenting. I wish the action was a little better illustrated but the characters and story are more than enough to pull me through. A decent cover featuring Krory and Eliade but not one of my favorites.

A continuation of volume 12, where Allen and his friends explore the Noah's Tower. Arystar and Jasdavi duke it out, with the ending of the fight being a tie. Allen and his friends end up having to fight Tyki and Road, Allen taking on Tyki and Lavi having to deal with Road. While fighting with Tyki, Allen unlocks a new form is able to exorcise the Noah out fo Tyki, causing Road to go crazy and even possibly killing Lavi in her dream world.

Still a full of action scenes, this feels like a final arc, but it was from that.

The author still manages to keep the dark twisted story until now. I love how the side character manages to shine on their own without the mc saving them, and the power up is just insane.

Allen and his innocence yoww. The blade is not that pretty, but super strong. I like how the innocence blade is represent Allen heart to save everyone, including the Akuma itself.

The pain is my favorite villain and my bae is fighting with each other (and my bad for rooting for both cough).

Another volume leaning pretty heavily on the fight scenes, and not much forward-movement in the plot. Allen & Co. are still trying to get out of the Ark, now they must get through Road & Tyki. I do always enjoy seeing Road & Tyki, a couple of the better villains, in my opinion.

Contination of a very solid arc. I like how powers are evolving in a believeable but also costly way. And that Allen isn't the only one getting character development.

I was wondering when Allen turned his arm into a sword. I couldn't remember which part of the story he did it in, and now I remember after reading this volume.

It's interesting, because his sword looks very similar to the Millinium Earl's sword and I'm just wondering if this is some type of forshadowing for the events to come in the story. Everyone seemed shocked that his sword was exactly like the Millinium Earl's, but Allen didn't seem too notice. Does his sword look like that because the Millinium Earl came at him with a design like that, and so he designed it from memory? Or, is it because there's actually something deeper going on and him and the Millinium Earl are connected his more ways than one? (I know they are, but won't spoil it in this review).

Allen will do anything to protect his friends and because of that, it's making him a stronger person for it. I feel sorry for Lavi/Rabi for being stuck in Rhode's mind warp. But, I knew it was coming. This story stuck pretty close to the anime, or should I say the anime stuck pretty close to the book.

I would say I loved this part of the story more than the beginning of D. Grayman, just because all the characters have really developed and they have all found their sense of purpose. I can't wait to see how the manga deals with story changes from Season 4 to Season 5. There was such a gap in release years for the anime, but I know the manga kept going, so I'm intrigued to see how the manga carried on where the anime didn't.

Looking forward to reading the next book.

This is tied for being my favorite volume so far. First of all arystar did not die from last volume as expected but he does die in this one by transferring his own blood into a cool form that was powerful enough to defeat jasdevi but in the process killing himself. Allen ends up fighting my favorite villain so far tyki who is the one killed Allen before his innocence saved him. We find out tyki ability not only can touch what he wants like going through Allen’s chest and crushing his heart as before but also he can not touch what he wants like the gravity on earth, this causes him to be able to fly or suck the air out of the room suffocating anyone in the room. Allen almost dies again but he levels up and unlocks a new ability to turn his arm into a sword that can kill the Noah out of any Noah member which kills evil basically. He kills tyki using the sword since tyki refuses to have his evil killed by one strike of the sword. Road puts lavi in a weird dimension and is planning on killing him in the next volume. This volume has a lot of cool moments for sure and sets up the series for a dark tone.

Road Camelot may be happy to see Allen Walker again, but Tyki Mikk wants Allen to himself and cuts in. Literally. No matter how much Road may kiss, hug, or coo over Allen, the strange dark intimacy between Allen and Tyki lives, breathes, purrs, and growls, a undeniable presence which beat at the heart of this particular volume. Beginnning with Allen’s innocence lost, or perhaps even in the card game where they met, this intimacy is coming full circle. Tyki is determined to finish it, Allen won’t back down, and Road isn’t about to interfere or let anyone else do so. Not that Lenalee can do much, much to her frustration (and mine). Road turns her attention to Lavi, deciding to play with him. She’s aware of secrets he’s been keeping from the rest of his companions, returning to being the Road Camelot we first met, for all her fluffy display of love around Allen. With all that going on in, blazing out in beautiful panels, vibrating with tension; this was a particularly intense volume. I released a breath, feeling more than a little sorry when it finished.

This volume finishes off the Jasdevi fight with Krory and Starts the Tyki and Allen battle.

I'll be honest, there is a lot of battling in the Ark and I get it, it's a shonen manga but I am a little tired of it. I'll still read it but dang. We do get to learn some things about Lavi, and get to see Allen get to be at the forefront with Tyki.

Road is also so clingy to Allen? like girl chill. I forgot she was that clingy, haha.

Phenomenal story this time around. The final playout of Krory's fate was exceptionally well handled and made a lot of sense. Very well done. Then, through the rest of the volume Lavi and Allen are paired off against Road and Tyki. Allen's growth and potential are wonderfully presented in a way that delivers on a lot of what the story's been hinting at and is exceptionally well handled.

Allen reveals himself to be the true heir to the power that can defeat the evil. Everyone in the series is shocked, every reader is not. A good volume, but again they spend a lot of time in the fight. I really wish they spent more time developing characters emotionally instead of just leveling up their innocence powers.

Second showdown between Allen and Tyki Mikk, complete with Allen's latest power-up. I should mock the incredible shonen-ness of the whole affair (as in: Synchro rates can actually be measured! Allen is transcendant and going past 100%! It's like turning the volume up to 11!), but I confess is thought it was sort of awesome at the time. :)

As always, it seems like I'm waiting such a long time for VIZ's English editions! Next up will feature my fave character, Lavi...but seeing Krory's battle in this one, as well as Alan's, was wonderful!
