Her enemy saves her life. Can they learn to trust one another? Two soulmates, Catherine and Graeme, are about to be reborn again, and their new lives will bring them back to Scotland. Only this time, they will find themselves in the midst of a bitter conflict between Scotland and England. With new names and no memory of their connection, will they be able to find each other and stay together? Cara Breckenbridge’s life is torn apart when the English storm her small village. Her husband knew they were coming, but bitterness toward the English convinced him to stay and make a stand, even though he knew his wife and sons would pay the price. Cara’s husband is killed and the baron who ordered his death nearly slays her, too—only his marshal, Gabriel Montgomerie, saves her life. Instead of killing her and the lads, the baron entrusts them to Gabriel’s care, with a rather distressing Cara is to spy on the Scots for the English, or else the boys will be killed. Although Cara is a true Scot, she will do anything to save her family. To her shock, as she spends more time with Gabriel, she begins to realize that the Englishman is a good man...and she feels inexplicably drawn to him. But when they catch whispers of a plan being concocted by rebellious Scots, what will win out, Cara’s loyalty to her sons and the man who saved them or her love for her country ?

Keira Montclair is absolutely fabulous. This book was incredible. The start and the end almost had me reaching for the tissues. I could not put this book down once I started. I went on a roller coaster ride with my emotions which to me makes a perfect story. One minute I wanted to give someone a wack over the head and the next I was smiling like the Cheshire cat. I was rooting for this couple to realize who they were and get back together. Gabriel seemed like such a sweet man and not heartless like the baron and Cara was an amazing fiesty woman who would protect those she loved until her last breath. All in all Ms. Montclair pens a wonderful story that will melt anyone's heart.

Like a moth to the flame. “Trusting A Scot” by Keira Montclair is the second book in the Soulmate Chronicles. I loved the book!
The storyline was well developed and the plot was filled with twists and turns. Things were never quite as they appeared. I love the historical setting and this book takes place during the time of Robert the Bruce and William Wallace. I always love the historical aspect and Keira pulled it together beautifully.
The characters Graeme and Cara were wonderful. They were both strong, brave and good, well developed and interesting. Soulmates, fated to find one another, drawn to one another inexplicably, time and again.
The secondary characters are written well and contributed much to the story. The dialogue was well written and Keira’s imagery was such that I immediately became one with the story, rooting for both Cara and Graeme.
I couldn’t put the book down if I had wanted to, I was so caught up in the story. Keira did an excellent job showing the ravages of war and it’s toll on people both good and bad. I was in tears more than once because I was so caught up in the characters lives, dilemma and adventure.
Thank you so much Keira Montclair for such an entertaining and exciting reading experience as well as a beautiful love story.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book - it is such a different type of story than what I usually but I couldn't put it down after I started reading. The book has a short prologue & epilogue that are paranormal but the book itself is completely historical romance, so even if you don't like paranormal, you will enjoy the book & just skip the prologue & epilogue.
Gabriel & Cara were wonderful main characters with Wyot & Harold adding so much to the book as secondary characters. Keira's plots are always family oriented with a HEA & this one included loss of love, evil villain, loyal/loving friends, sibling love, new love & some twists & turns. I highly recommend this book that mixes paranormal & historical romance in a unique & romantic story.
I was gifted the Advanced Reader Copy of this book & all opinions are my own & have been voluntarily given.
Most people believe that their first spouse is their soulmate. Here that is not true. There is love and there is tragedy during a war between the Scots and English, and war can change relationships. Seeking vengeance can change a person too. These two go on an adventure and when they finally meet the Scottish woman m doesn’t know if she can trust a English man. All is not what it seems, as the two plot and spy and due bidding for men they despise.
This was a great story and adventure, worth readying to see how theses two fare in this life, can they possibly fall for each other, will they let go of the past? Enjoy!!
I loved the story with the exception of the brutality of whipping a woman. I'm not naive enough to believe that it didn't actually happen, but I can't say I enjoyed reading anything about that. I much prefer the small children's innocent words that warms your heart and pours out heartwarming images from all the stories Kiera Montclair is so well known for. If you haven't read her stories before, start from her first and you will find yourself binge reading through them.
Another wonderful story of two people who are meant to be together forever. Like many of Keira Montclair’s books, once I started I didn’t want to put it down. This is a great story of a strong willed woman (in a time where that’s not necessarily a good trait) and the man that’s drawn to protect her. The story has strong characters, both good and evil. It’s well written and quite enjoyable.
I loved Keira books and this one did not disappoint, could not put this book down. Loved the characters Gabriel (Graeme) and Cara (Catherine) they definitely have a strong connection to each other. This book was full of suspense, and surprises. A must read! Read the series looking forward to reading more books like this.
Loved this story! But it was a bit hard to get through at some spots! Keep your Kleenex handy! I loved the paranormal touches! It made it such fun! And no, I did not figure out the guardian angels! Great story by a master storyteller! Great read!
What can I say it deserves a 20. Love everything Keira writes you are cought up In the story from the beginning just loved it. Anyone reading this buy the book it is worth it
Came together after each lost a spouse due to the cruel actions of Baron Hepple. They each also suffered at his hand with Cara being whipped. Gabriel proved that he was the better man by just killing Hepple.
What a concept these soulmate chronicles are, I am loving Cara's (Caroline) and Gabriel's (Graeme) stories of destined fate and the challenges to find each other in new lifetimes and accomplish goals they are unaware...it is mind blowing in the best way!
I love this series and how the characters are the same, but yet still different. Graeme and Catherine have boldly exceeded their challenges the fact. One more to go!!
I have loved all 3 books in this series and can hardly wait for the next! I don't want to give away anything so I will just say this story is my favorite so far in the series. A must read for sure!
I first love all Keira Montclair books. They are always an easy read and keep me until the very end. I venture to other authors but always find my way back to her books.
As always, I am hooked on ANY book Keira writes. The Soulmate Chronicles carry on her success. It is interesting to see where the guardian angels will send Graeme and Catheine on their current journey. This book does not disappoint. One thing that I truly enjoy is the way Keira blends true characters (King Edward, Robert the Bruce) with fictional events to the actions in her books. I have learned a great deal of history because of the historical facts at the end of her books!! As I read the book, the fictional battles vs true historical facts literally bring a visual picture to mind of all that was happening during that time. Great book, fantastic author......waiting for what's upcoming!
