Wow, what an obnoxious volume! The twin drama has gotten utterly ridiculous, although good on the counselor for finally seeing through it. Even if it did take a long time to notice the obvious switch. Geez, and to think he's so observant otherwise. A whole lot of melodrama and little actual plot advancement.

So much drama! But definitely the good kind, and not the overly obnoxious kind (basically random murders, kidnappings, and other insane things). I knew that Hana (so weird that the translator's changed, and so did her name lol) would eventually pretend or be mistaken for Ageha, that's par for the course when you have twins in manga. But it's still slightly surprising just how far she she was willing to go to sabotage her sister, girl is a major bitch.

I'm happy that Hayato (sensei) and Ageha are going out though, they have such a strange and amusing relationship. I laughed quite a few times at their antics, and got some slight butterflies for them.

The drama is definitely going to spike though, that cliffhanger is definitely gonna cause some issues haha.

Jesus what a disaster, I mean not the manga just the whole situation. Development is there and it really had me on the edge of my seat. Kind of surprised at the ending but then again am I? She was very childish as she’s still navigating love in high school. I do feel bad for her and also I empathize with her as many of her behavior patterns resemble her having abandonment issues, which I too struggle with. He is a good guy overall, I think he needs to learn more about who she is and stop being so loose about his behavior towards others. On to the next volume!

Lots of ridiculous twin drama. I take the same issue with volume 3 that I did with the previous volumes: The general moral, that getting a boyfriend is all about looks, is shallow and trope-y. I thought Ageha was way prettier with her glasses, anyway. Too shallow a plot line for me.

I am honestly continuing with the series only because I really like the artwork.

Hana - super popular yet so very stuck on herself. Waiting for someone to knock her down a peg. Is having everything not enough? grrr!

Fo-shizzle . . . my nizzle . . . this book . . . is OFF THE HIZZLE!!!

Do you know how I've been DYING to write a review for a 5 star book?! I haven't written one in WEEKS! Or at least a month! Maybe two!
There's just this feeling in a goodreader when they review a book that they've rated five stars . . . it's like you're thinking . . .

This needs to be the best review ever.

This book needs THE AWESOMEST REVIEW EVER.

No review can describe this book!

Dang it . . . what do I write?

GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH maybe I should just type this whole thing in capital letters.

BECAUSE my dears. When a book is five stars, it means

IT'S AMAZING.
BRILLIANT.
ASTONISHING.

And this, my dear Goodreaders, is a five-star book.

MY FIRST FIVE STAR BOOK IN SOOOOOOOOOOOOO LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG!

CATCH ME!

This series . . . I must finish it. I must FIND OUT WHAT HAPPENS IN THE END BECAUSE IF I DON'T, I'm going to freak out, hardcore style.

I've always been a HUGE FAN of all things lovey dovey (well, as long as it's not cheesy and it's funny and not over dramatic).
I guess the main reason why I liked this particular volume is because THE GIRL RAN AFTER WHAT SHE WANTED.

Let me illustrate.

(Spoilers ahead. Please beware and do not say that I didn't warn you because I definitely did.)

1. At the beginning of the book, Hana (the evil butt monster) pretended to be Ageha and tried to make Kyuu angry to destroy their relationship.

JEEZ, I wanted to slap that girl!

Meanwhile, Ageha really doesn't have a clue what's going on.

So after Hana gets Kyuu really annoyed, and Ageha confronts him the next day to find him mysteriously annoyed at her, and then he says,
(Seriously, if you don't want to be spoiled, DON'T SPOIL IT FOR YOURSELF.)

She doesn't just sit there and give up.
When she sees him, she RUNS AFTER HIM. She's like, "NOOOOOO, SENSEI!! I LOVE YOU!"

Do you know how much energy it takes to run to something? If someone turns their back on you, do you just stand there like a baffoon or do you RUN?!
That's one of my favorite things in romances. For the guy, or the girl, to run after who they love! DO YOU LOVE THEM ENOUGH TO RUN AFTER THEM?!

The same thing (sorta) happens a few chapters later.

2. Ageha catches one of Kyuu's fangirls kissing him.

I would have marched right in there and double-slapped that (*BLEEEEP).

But anyway, she doesn't just give up on him. She's not all, "URGH! I can't believe he did that to me! THAT'S IT! WE'RE OVER!"
She persisted!

But still, I thought he was a big jerk face for letting that girl kiss him. At first, I was like, "YOU'RE CHEATING ON AGEHA?!?!!"

description

Anyway, yeah. THAT'S A BIG PART OF LOVE, OKAY?!
You have to run after them when something goes wrong!

I mean, have you heard Taylor Swift's "Stay, Stay, Stay"?

"I heard that you should never leave a fight unresolved.

NEVER EVER EVER LEAVE A FIGHT UNRESOLVED!

So yeah. 5 stars.

Plus, the little bits of psychology in the back of the book that the author draws are really good. YOU SHOULD READ THOSE.

If you've been following along from the previous volumes, you know that Ageha's finally made amends with her mother as well as started to make progress with her inferiority complex over her sister. She's also started to make progress with her complicated relationship with Kyuu. The third volume picks up on the heels of this with Ageha finally getting into a relationship with Kyuu, only to have that relationship fall into troubled waters due to the interference of her sister Hana. Not only is Hana not willing to stop interfering with everything concerning Ageha, but she's also still attempting to keep Ryuusei from ever becoming interested in Ageha!

Being a fan of Miwa's other work (Peach Girl), I had eagerly snapped up this title when it came out. From early on Papillon was very entertaining but suffered one HUMONGOUS flaw: it's pretty much a carbon copy of the dynamics of Peach Girl. The rivalry between Ageha & Hana had the same dynamics as the rivalry in PG & as such, didn't bring anything new to the table. Well, as of this volume things are slowly starting to come into their own. My biggest thing is that it's still a little too similar to PG & at times it suffers from it. The problems & issues still mirror Miwa's other work & while Papillon is enjoyable, it seems an inferior work when compared to PG. It just doesn't have that much creativity when you subtract all of the similarities to PG. The other bad thing about the similarity to PG is that it runs the potential of having the flaws of PG, most of which stemmed from the manga being a little too overly long & drawn out at points. (Come on... you guys know what I mean. At times Peach Girl seemed to fall victim to the drama version of "Monster of the Week" & could've been 3-4 volumes shorter!)

In any case, it's steadily getting better & I can recommend it to many manga fans.

So it's pretty obvious that Hana is pretending to be Ageha at the end to test Ryusei. Hana and Ageha need couples therapy and I'm no longer shipping Ageha and Kyu-chan. The relationship is too unbalanced. Still the story is entertaining - I'll read onward.
