Who knew Groundhog Day novellas were a thing??? And who knew this was exactly what I needed in my life?
When an undesirable work assignment turns into an eye-opening game of truth or dare, things get heated. The banter was flirty and the sexual tension was thick. Even though this is a quick read, it didn’t skimp on the plot or the spice. Highly recommend!

Slow News Day was a cute story. The chemistry between Milan and Shawn was intense. Shawn was givin' off all kinds of BDE at the news station. I love that the story was centered around a journalist. We don't see enough storylines about black journalists. I was so happy Milan finally got her anchor spot. Slow News Day turned out to be a good day for Milan and Shawn. It was fun, interesting, and it held my attention until the end.

I needed a short and sweet read and Slow News Day gave me what I didn't even know I needed. Milan and Shawn are co-workers at a local news station who share an easygoing friendship where they flirt shamelessly with each other. An unexpected change leads Milan and Shawn to a Groundhog day festival where their friendship upgraded. I'm gonna give major props to Shawn for his support, positivity and witty dialogue. He saved this book for me because Milan's attitude was exhausting. I loved how he didn't allow Milan's attitude to stop deter the inevitable; that they were gonna happen. The chemistry was thick and Shawn brought the sugar, spice and everything nice. There is nothing like a grownup game of Truth or Dare. While this book is short, I felt the author did a great job addressing the issues faced in broadcasting. The story also teaches how your attitude affects your altitude( I sound like my mother LOL). I enjoyed reading this book and cant wait t read the next installments

I was just introduced to Danielle Allen's work last year and I have yet to read a book of hers that I don't like. I especially love these "Hot Holiday Hookups" as they are fun and quick reads that I enjoy around the holidays. This story follows news anchor Milan Patterson (I wonder if there is a connection to Zola) and her camera man as she is assigned to a field reporting story on the mostly uneventful "Groundhog's Day." Shawn and Milan have quite a bit of chemistry and a little bit of tension but by the end of their shift- things are looking up. This is a fun read, with the right amount of plot, character building and spice for the length of novella. I would definitely recommend this read.

Quick and dirty!

Okay Shawn & Milan??? Whewwww THE HOTNESS BETWEEN THESE TWO GOD.
Milan gets out on a very wack assignment for work and when Shawn sticks up for her he gets stuck with said assignment as well, they’ve been friends for a while a work and they kind of just keep each other in good spirits. Shawn more for Milan though, she’s been working her ass off to get a segment and each time she gets knocked down he’s there to cheer her up.
This start out pretty friendly but there’s definitely flirty and chemistry between the two. Milan tried to keep it strictly business until Shawn adds truth or dare to the mix and boom she can no longe deny what’s in front of her and BOY HE BLEW HER DAMN MIND & her back out lmao
Workplace romance x10. This was super smutty, funny, intense and fun, loved every minute of it, as usual you can count on Danielle to have you cackling along with her characters always.

I did not like this story as much as I thought I would. I thought I was going to read a cute steamy read, but unfortunately it was not cute, and for me the steamy parts didn't really steam for me. These two had me cackling the whole time! This is a novella so it is short but so worth it! And the spicy scenes 👀 Chile

Milan and Shawn work at a news station. They always flirt but one day everything changes when they are put together on an assignment in the field for Groundhog Day. The banter back and forth between Shawn and Milan is funny. Their version of Truth and Dare got them catch up on their feelings. Shawn is good for Milan and Milan is great for Shawn. In the end, Milan got her shot as the news anchor. Shawn finally took his shot with Milan and they look to be on the right path. The spice rating is a 4.25/5 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️.25. I rated the book a 4/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. It’s a quick read, to the point with little left to imagination and even less of a backstory on the two main characters.

Super cute story! Milan and Shawn's story was everything! I liked how they were colleagues with the same humor and a solid friendship. The steamy truth or dare, boxing match between the groundhogs and quick banter between the two made this book quite entertaining! I didn't want this story to end. I liked how Shawn affirmed Milan and pulled her out of her pessimistic ways. I also liked the underling message of being overlooked in the field of journalism when you just don't have the "look" that the network or station is going for. This was indeed a hot holiday hookup that had me hooked!

Do MY newscasters get down and dirty at work?!
I won’t lie, the reason this story lost a star was because I did not like Milan at all. Her boss was right to say her negative attitude would cost her, and I’m a teeeeny bit upset with the ending. BUT since this story was supposed to be more about the hookup and less about the plot, Danielle hit the nail on the head with this one. She has yet to disappoint me when it comes to a sexy scene and I will definitely be reading more of her books as a result.

Danielle Allen is a New Fav
I don’t normally like novellas. I always end up feeling empty. But I just happened to see this author post about the series on TikTok today. Since I LOVE all of the books I have read by her, I decided why not. And it did NOT disappoint. She writes spicy scenes that are so intense but they aren’t just fluff. They make sense to the story. The intensity of a workplace romance coupled with the risk of getting caught worked. Now I’m wondering how many on air news reporters have hooked up with their camera person lol

Everything about this story was hot and heavy. U can feel the sexual tension from the virtual pages!! I loved how it was a complete story and can’t wait to see if we’ll get updates on them in the future. I loved how real the characters were with each other. The story was friends to lovers story and I loved it. As usual I was captured by the character development and the small gestures that showed their individuality. I don’t always enjoy novellas, but this was quick, cute and engaging. The characters were relatable and compatible. The author gave me just enough and an ending that didn’t require me to know more. I definitely plan to read the other Hot Holiday Hookup stories.

I liked the overall story but Milan was slightly annoying as a main character- glad it was a novelette bc I don’t know how much more I could have taken of her because why did she go off on the station manger like that??? Like girl be forreal 💀😫
