my favourite volume yet. i already want to go back and reread it. the nagi x isagi x bachira team up was fucking ELITE >>>>> UGHHHHH they're just such amazing characters. i am completely emotionally and mentally attached to these characters and if anything happened to them, i would bawl my eyes out. i just keep thinking about how only one person can win this competition and it crushes my soul........
the little disagreement between nagi and reo hurt my heart 😭 but i definitely think they needed that and it's going to help them form a better friendship in the future.
okay but rin though 👀👀👀 he was a total rude asshole.....but i love him 😋 and how can i not love him when he's clearly the grumpy lonely sad boi type. we got a little bit of his backstory with him wanting to beat his brother and why he has the mindset he does, so that will be interesting to see more of. and him on the cover…..such a gorgeous cover 😍😍
tokimitsu is totally me in this world 🤣
can we talk about the character development in this series? it's perfection. for isagi especially. every volume he's surpassing what he was in the previous volume.
firstly. I did not expect that. secondly. I did not expect that. third. I think I can guess what'll happen next... Atp, I can tell shit's only going down when they smokin, if they ain't smokin they ain't gettin it
Rin on the cover, I know that's right. I love when Isagi goes a bit loco and I honestly wasn't sure about the mixing of characters onto the teams but I loved the new interactions and they're only going to get more interesting in the next few volumes (speaking from the future).
Me, watching Isagi and Bachira constantly get split:
Switching it up and having different players having to work together can make some really exciting future plays. I really wonder how this is all going to go. Blue Lock continues to be an extremely over the top but fun time for a sports manga.
I see why this little arc is necessary. Gets the reader closer to Isagi while he develops his talents and gets a cool moment away from the super strong other characters.
I could read the moment Reo and Nagi split over and over and over again!!! Reo isn’t content to be spoon fed anymore and I’m here for it.
I think I feed of the high that Blue Lock gave me, and this volume focused more on the weaknesses and the realization of Isagi to become stronger.
Chapters in volume : Ch 41 - Ch 49
There's nothing worst than losing, but honestly, I love how the simulation is done in this volume, and its told in a way that even noobies in soccer can understand too.
The start of Isagi breaking that team bond that he has and exploring new relationships is what I really liked. Its SUPER intense and its something that is just.. well... amazing.
Rin is ... well.. damn. Super impossible and yet so bloody attractive its just well-done. Personal Ratings : 4.25🌟
What a harrowing saga, will Isagi be able to turn 1 into 100? This game is no longer about teamwork; it’s a battle of the egotists, and nothing can supplement for raw, unadulterated resolve. These boys will either find a way to win or die trying.
look i'm not exactly proud of myself for not being able to hold back the need to reread some bllk volumes, but i am severely missing rinsagi and it took them too long. and so i decided to go back 😋
We’ve moved to round two of Blue Lock and, as befits a manga of this stripe, everything is amped up to a ridiculous degree. Facing off against some solo challenges leads our players into a new team challenge that promises to, amongst other things, utterly violate the laws of physics.
Okay, thank you, Blue Lock, for at least mentioning in passing how much money this ludicrous premise has to be costing the Japanese taxpayer. They don’t even get to watch this as a reality show, for pity’s sake.
Now, this doesn’t exactly excuse the nonsense on the menu here, as they introduce a hologram goalie that has the ability to block shots, which they actually attempt to explain in terms of technology and makes about as much sense as it would if they simply did not explain it.
This is but a prelude, as Isagi levels up and his success pushes him into the next section, a convoluted set of three-on-three matches that ends up with somebody being drafted to the winning team and losers fighting it out and somebody going home.
I like that Isagi’s teamed with Bachira, naturally, but the third candidate ends up being a rather fun little departure from what seems like the obvious choices for the pairing. Mixing up the interactions keeps the story fresher amidst the chaos of these matches.
Naturally Isagi is being turned into a competitive egomaniac as a result of this ludicrous plan, which the book attempts to dilute somewhat by introducing the incredibly annoying top team that they play against.
And they are A-class annoying. From one guy who won’t stop having a nervous breakdown to the long-legged guy who only cares about style. Which leaves our number one ranked player, Rin, who is the closest we’ve seen yet to having a definitive villain on the pitch (instead of running the program).
Rin is a total extreme example of what Ego is after and he basically dismisses everybody else and, naturally for this sort of series, he is right to do so. He’s able to perform some moves here that should basically qualify him for superhero status (they sure do drop the word ‘quirk’ in here again too).
I mean, it’s all par for the course and Blue Lock has never not delivered in the action department. It’s just that you really can’t expect this to follow any particular logic. Don’t even bother to think about what happens with Isagi’s quirk at the end of the match.
We end with a definite bit of a hook for the next volume, setting up what amounts to a rescue mission and the set-up for this is so brimming with text that you can practically hear the slashfic writers warming up their word processors.
3 stars. Hey, it’s Blue Lock, it was built on a foundation of preposterousness and it is happy to keep layering on as it goes. I don’t know why I enjoy it, probably because it has some of the best sports action I’ve laid eyes on, but I do.
Isagi has to find out how to use baros boarding plays against his pst teammates to collect atleast one to proceed Isagi uses baros plays to lure the opponents Baro despiste his motto passed to Isagi allowing isagi to be the main actor Baro comes back making the last goal They pick chigiri to join there team kicking the other two back to 2v2
4.75 / 5:“Losing at soccer means losing the reason for my existence. It’s the same as dying. To me, soccer is a battle to the death. Bring it on so I can kill you. Your mediocre playtime ends here.”
i think this volume is where even with the stakes still so high, the rush has mellowed out as these characters are now challenged to focus on how to win one-on-one. they’ve learned the values of using their weapons as a big team but when it comes to being part of a smaller group, this volume goes to teach them how much more they need to learn.
there’s a much smaller setting and fewer characters grouped together—i loved the isagi / bachira / nagi matchup in particular!! i caught wind of it shortly before picking this up, but it felt cooler witnessing nagi on page take more initiative in feeding his curiosity of the game. before, he seemed very unmotivated and listless, even in his powerful movements on the field. but ever since the last volume, he’s been pushed to a point of frustration that’s really compelling to watch—i’d love to see how much further it’ll take him.
also kinda intrigued by the dynamic between isagi & rin…right now the latter is very standoffish and cold but it’s clear their skills will clash with each other so i can’t wait!!

Isagi got a taste of what it's like to go against the best. He may be improving but he is still behind where he needs to be. I appreciate when things go wrong and he must continue to fight to improve. I did not expect what happened at the end which I love. It's funny how Bachira acts like he loves Isagi and asks him to fight for him. I'm curious how the next round will turn out because it could get desperate for Isagi. Hopefully, he pulls out all the stops. Also what I like to call the "gammasters" finally acknowledging his growth makes me so happy!
