The Haunted Boxset includes two books, both of which are intensely compelling and thrilling to read. The first book takes place primarily in a very elite school for the rich where strange things are happening that are leaving everyone unnerved. Both books engage you from page one and keep you engaged until the very end.

Frances returns to Thackeray School as a teacher. She attended there twenty years earlier and swore never to return following a tragic incident that left two girls dead. Now that she is back, the past is haunting her. From the first page of the book, there is a sense of foreboding that lasts throughout the book. The mysteries compound as the past meets the present. There is a ghost trying to tell Frances and her former classmates and friends something. There is a bit of a psychological thriller component to the story that keeps the storyline intriguing. Things that go bump in the night takes on a new meaning in this story. This book has everything from murder, to action, to scary moments, to thrills, and much more. I hated putting it down to go to sleep at night. I finished it in two days. It is that enthralling!

In The Haunting of Hadleigh Estate, Cassie and her husband Charlie find themselves fixing up her Uncle's estate to sell following his murder. It was a great plan until doors start locking themselves, their young son mysteriously escapes his crib and playpen, and they find him in locked rooms laughing with someone or something unseen, and then things start disappearing, including their son. This story is a thriller that keeps you on edge. Again from the first page, there is an action-packed sequence that leads to murder. From there, you are completely hooked. The haunting part is scary and then seems quite natural. Connor Donnelly does an excellent job of making the paranormal seem normal and wholly acceptable. The Haunting of Hadleigh Estate is a bit of a who done it as Frances tries to solve her Uncle James' murder while trying not to lose her son and husband and her sanity in the process. I read this story in one day, sleep be damned! I had my theories about what was going on and found myself putting my two cents worth in as the story moved along.

This boxset contains two books that are very engaging and tell incredibly compelling stories. I look forward to more like this from Sklar Finn and Connor Donnelly.

3 stars The Haunting of Thackery School:
Could definitely use some proofreading for continuity. (i.e. at location 2889 [Kindle edition] “Frances took the opportunity to drain her glass.” At location 2896 (without refilling her glass) “Frances drained the glass.” At location 2904 “ “I’m thankful for old friends,” she said finally, draining her glass. Harmony discreetly passed her the bottle of wine.” [where she, finally, refilled the glass she had emptied three times]).

“Frances ran to Jane’s side, where she lay on the kerosene-soaked floor, clutching her arm and howling.” Like they couldn’t smell the kerosene the minute they entered the room?

The story itself was good; some interesting twists and turns to keep one guessing.

5 stars The Haunting of Hadliegh Estate:
I really enjoyed this story. Cassie tries to solve her uncles murder (ruled an accident) and his ghost helps her along the way. The writing was suspenseful and flowed beautifully. The characters were well written.

Started off haunting finished cozy

While riveting is an overused word to describe many books, it really doesn't apply to this box set. It started out somewhat as a scary haunted house but quickly became a predictable cozy mystery. I did enjoy that the plot had many characters and twists to keep you guessing but just not riveting. Still, I believe it is a four star overall for location and characters you can easily picture from great descriptions.

Good story but some farfetched information. FIrst I don't know ANYWHERE in the USA where you can buy a handgun and walk out with it. RIfle MAYBE---but HANDGUN? NO WAY. Also you can't buy a weapon without a PERMIT. MAJOR OVERSIGHTS BY THE AUTHOR...

Still it was a good story for the most part.

Great

Hard to put this story down. There were a few pages that repeated themselves and I wondered if this story had originally been released in serial chapters. Great characters and plot.
