Harriet and her BFF, Jade are colleagues at the NY Geneaology Library and they love their jobs. One morning her boss asked Jade to make a special delivery after work...seems a valuable manuscript had to be delivered to a location just two blocks from the NYGL and the drop off time was set for 8 PM. Jade negotiated a "deal" with her boss for some perks in exchange for the late delivery. She stayed at the library well after closing so she could make the late delivery time and as she exited, her world changed.
The next thing she heard was his kind voice, and felt herself being lifted and she felt safe. His voice stayed with her and from time-to-time over the next day or so, she continued to hear his voice, feel his touch then she drift away. When she woke, he was no longer there. She had to talk with him, thank him but had no way to find him until the local news station called.
Jade was not the only one affected by the attack...seems Jake has had insomnia ever since the attack. But insomnia is not his only problem. His company is being invaded and it has to be someone close to him.
As you can tell there is much going on in this story and it is totally engaging. You will have an opportunity to meet a variety of individuals you will love, like or despise. All are wonderfully portrayed and the story and characters will hold you captive. At the end, if you are like me, you will be sending a thank you to Daisy Allen for a truly inspiring story that has you encouraging your reading buddies to grab this one because it is a winner.

Yup, the book is just as corny and poorly written as the description.
I was originally going to leave 2 star as I really only have myself to blame since I read the cringeworthy summary and STILL proceeded to open the novel with some semblance of hope it wouldn't be half bad, but the only person that deserves a sympathy star is me LOL
To say the first few chapters were painful to read is an understatement; it's as if the author jotted down bullet points of her plot line and then connected them with filler words.
The main character gets attacked within 5 mins of the reader learning her name *cue damsel in distress* and boom here comes angsty mystery man who swears he's some reincarnation of Batman to save the day and immediately becoming obsessed with her. AND THIS IS ALL BY THE END OF THE THIRD CHAPTER.
Poor writing (around middle school level to be accurate), absolutely 0 plot development or any build-up, nauseatingly immature dialogue that will give you second hand embarrassment, inconsistent descriptions (she's introduced with green eyes and then a few paragraphs down the male lead apparently falls in love with her "beautiful doe-like caramel gaze" ... bffr ), and probably so many more red flags if I kept on reading. But alas I value my time and sanity so I did not.

Kaine is book 1 in The Men of Gotham series and what a book it was. If this is the way the series is going to be, then you definitely not want to miss out. Kaine is a recluse whose a billionaire who hides behind hoodies. When he rescues Jade, will she be just the person to bring him out of his shell? Can she help him heal the pain and loneliness? When he doesn't stick around for her to find out who her rescuer is how will she find him? She remembers his hoodie of course as well as how his arms felt wrapped around her body. When she does the unthinkable just to thank him will this lead to more? She is a no-nonsense type of woman which makes her perfect for Kaine. You will just have to read the book to find out more. What you will experience with these two is fresh, flirty and very enjoyable. I cannot wait to see what the next book in this series bring. This series should be on your TBR....

I really enjoyed this story! I loved the characters and the flow of the story. I was caught from beginning to end. Jade is saved by Kaine and he keeps his identity anonymous. Jade is determined to find him to thank him. I loved the action and intrigue that was involved in this story. We also see Jade and Kaine dealing with their problems as they try to get to know one another. They are both stubborn and so while Kaine wants to keep his distance from Jade, he has a hard time with that. I loved the emotional aspect to this book. It was well done and I liked how it was blended and added to the story. The sex is explicit. I'm very excited for more books in this series.

This was a really good book.Kaine and Jade meet when he rescues her from being mugged but before she can thank the hero in the hoodie he disappears.But she is determined to see him even if it means refusing to leave his home until he see's her.This was a wonderful read that will have you laughing out loud one moment and have you wanting to cry the next.It had fantastic characters that had loads of chemistry and a storyline that just pulls you right in.

HOLY HELL! KEEP 'EM COMING!!!
An interesting, easy to follow, well paced and the characters personalities are a mixture of intrigue, longing, fearful, but with a bond that grows so hot its easy to get lost in it. They face betrayal, attacks, lies, backstabbing and twists that keep you so lost in the tale you're not sure which is you and which is the story. Daisy did an exceptional job bringing out the plot and the players. Honestly believable.

Funny how many author’s storylines are the “genre of the moment”......reverse harems, fairy tales, etc. This is a bit of a Beauty and the Beast and a pretty good read. Kaine and Jade are well written, intriguing characters, chemistry is great, and the book is a well paced, page turner. He saved her from physical harm, but can she save him from his demons????

Wow! Talk about an awesome read. Of course, I realized the twist before the ending. The plot was interesting. The storyline flowed smoothly throughout. I fell in love with Kaine! What a hero! I thought he and Jade made an awesome couple. Their chemistry was explosive. I really loved how she didn't give up on him. It was amazing reading his transformation throughout the story. I was glad they both received their HEA in the end!

Totally excited to read Xav’s story after reading Kaine and Jade’s! What a fiery couple! They’re chemistry is hot! I absolutely loved Jade’s character.. and Harriet too! They’re relationship is admirable! You get heat, suspense and love in this exciting book!

Awesome!
Such a good book! I loved the mystery and suspense. Fave part is when Jade manages to take over Maine's apartment. She is stubborn and determined. He suffered a horrendous loss and now faces losing his future. He is fierce and protective. Great book. I can't wait for Xavier's book. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy using KU.

Very easy to write an review of this story. It is an amazing read with great storyline and plot. It is captivating from first to last chapter. The characters are well developed and described. The hint of mystery kept me on the edge and I just had to read it in one session.

Daisy Allen did a good job on Kaine. The book was well written. Kaine and Jade were great characters. They were made for each other, their connection was great. Kaine and Jade had sexy chemistry. I enjoyed this book. Thank you, Daisy Allen. Great work :)

A lot going on in this story but I love the first book in this series some steamy moments and danger suspense I was hooked from the start can't wait to read another Men Of Gothem book I voluntarily reviewed an advance copy of this book.

I like it
I think this books is good. Theres a few editing issues, which are not terrible, but just a few too many. And some storyline I didn't quite think was the best. But overall a nice story and I will definitely be reading the book about Xavier too!
