I have been on an alien kick lately so decided to give this author a try. Unfortunately this book for me had so many cliché’s in it that I think I sprained my eyes with the amount of rolls they did. First off Lillian is an insecure BBW virgin, that has never been kissed it seems. She is also a doctor, I think every other alien book the woman is either a doctor, in medical school or on her way to medical school when she is chosen, at this rate all the female doctors will be taken by aliens soon.

The dialogue ranges, from stilted, to cheesy, to over the top bad guy caricature. During one of Lillian’s and Drax’s bedroom tryst he asks her to “Tell me you want it.” She replies “I want it so badly.” Then Drax follows up with “Beg for it.” My brain kind of stalled out with that.

One of the other ladies that was also participating in the bride program said that Lillian was the smartest person she knew. Lillian relied on a neglectful father that was trying to avoid jail time for owed back taxes that her sacrifice was going to save be the one to read over the document for her and tell her to just sign it. Not sure how smart that was since once she was brought to the planet it would be permanent no going back to earth.

The plot was pretty predictable and you could pretty much tell how things were going to play out. Then to add more to Lillian’s insecurity we have an ex lover of Drax that seems to be underfoot more than she should. After a while Lillian’s inner monologue of insecurity and doubt and whininess just made the book seem even longer.

The saving grace of the book was that Drax was actually a nice guy. He wanted Lillian to trust him and he took some time with consummating their relationship to allow her to get some confidence. Along the way he was solicitous, observant and tried as much as he could to put her needs first. His interactions and conversations with his best friend Zohled were by far the most believable and natural of his interactions.

Really liked it

This was a really great book. The story line flowed beautifully and the characters were great. The problem I had is this didn't feel like an Alien book to me but more of a historical book. It didn't feel like another planet it just felt like earth back in time if that makes sense. I still gave it four stars because it was a good book but it doesn't read like science fiction at all.

This was...not good. I've been all over these alien romances lately so I've got a few to compare this with. So much of this makes no sense at all. I know what you are thinking; lady, it's alien breeding smut of course it doesn't make sense, it is suppose to? A little bit yeah. I know some levels of ridiculousness can be had reading this particular genre but the writing still needs to be good, the plot somewhat cohesive and the characters need to be more than your basic bitch and asshole alpha. Personally for me I do need to connect to the characters and feel their chemistry in order for the smut to do it's magic.

So let's start with world building. There needs to be some of that. This story takes place in a world in which the people are still living in medieval times. Yet somehow make contact with other planets and have them send woman in a space ship to marry their men. So how did a race of people living in castles, using horses and carts, make that happen? Anyone? I mean come on throw in a one line explanation please. The technology doesn't match. I found that so jarring, it's all I could think about. Oh and these peoples, the Schanist, or some shit, are basically Vikings. They are suppose to be aliens but look human in every way. There is nothing different about them other than their orgasmic jizz. Give me a tail, cat ears, horns, two dicks I don't care give me something alien please.

The character creation is none existent. The main heroine is your basic paper doll girl. She is suppose to be a 5th year medical student but comes across more like someone who watched a youtube video once about a doctor and now thinks she's a doctor. Don't fucking do shit like that. If you are going to give someone a job at least google that occupation so you know something.

There are things that happen that are never followed up on. The dialoged is paint by numbers and repetitive sex scenes that barely make logical sense. Oh and some strange poisoning happens that makes the heroine clairvoyant or a few days? WTF.

Skip this one ladies and reread your favorite Ruby Dixon.

Lillian has been sold by her father, only Lillian doesn’t find out until she reaches her new home on an alien world. She had been studying for her medical degree and her father who had his own business became under threat for owing the government money for taxes he hadn’t paid. The gold he was given for Lillian will get him out of trouble. But when he put the contract before Lillian, he only allowed her to sign the page without letting her read the fine print. Lillian feels betrayed and once again overlooked in what she wanted to do.

Drax is now the High Councillor of Iddax after his father died. The other councillors want him to mate a woman from Endol, a region where they had been at war for years. One of the Councillors Hephan insisted that it was for political purposes. He was furious that Drax had married a woman from earth. When Drax comes across a man trying to kill his mate, he feels that she is best to go with him when he visits the outposts of Endol so she is kept safe from Hephan.

On their journey Drax and Lillian grow closer together and take every opportunity to make love so they can have a greater chance of Lillian conceiving a child. But when they arrive at the outpost of Endol, they are given a feast to celebrate. But Lillian is poisoned and her life is in danger. They decide to leave to return to their home in Iddax, but the armies in Endol surround Drax and his men. There is a battle and a lot of his men are killed. But the leader of the outpost tell Drax that Hephan didn’t want Lillian returning to Iddax alive.

The drama only increases and their lives are threatened and Drax and Lillian are separated. This story develops and draws you in and you just have to keep reading to find out what’s going to happen next. I really enjoyed reading this book and can’t wait to read the rest of the series. Great characters and enough heat to keep a person warm at night.

This one was run of the mill, nothing real special about it. High ranking politial alien (Drax) needs a mate to stabilize his home land; finds ameable human (Lillian) with no ties to family. Human makes hunky alien see compassion and starts to catch feelings. Really that’s all this one is. I didn’t really find the political discord to be that appealing and Drax’ capture was too easy. The big bad was pretty weak. I just didn’t find anything that stood out enough for me to read more in this series.

This was fun. The trope of tropes, but still entertaining. For an almost doctor of medicine I found Lillian quite dull and sort of as a doormat. Also, they've got buttons in the bathroom and hot water and all kinds of luxuries, but medical advancement, travelling methods and overall political and fighting strategies rather reminded me of a story written by a hapless teenager. The author should put more effort in the world building. You cant save all with the sex scenes.

Will not continue with this series. This book has so many problems for me the fact that this is suppose to be an alien and human book when really the person who was suppose to be alien felt more human with an exotic name. As far as the woman she was annoying and not interesting to care what happen to her.

Meh

The book started out okay but by the middle it was dry. It read like a how-to manual and didn’t hold my interest. By the end of the book I was all too desperate to hurry for the end. I will not be finishing this series.

There were a few too many sex scenes (three per book is my max) and more political intrigue than I like in my romances. Still, it was well written and I am tempted to seek out the second book.

Aliens & humans!!!!

“I voluntarily reviewed this after receiving a free copy.”
This story is about Lillian and Drax. Earth has made a deal with the Scraul where they will send brides (mates) in exchange for cash. Lillian is one of the brides who finds out along the way from another potential bride that her father tricked her by omitting information from the bride program. Yes, he gets the money for his daughter but he fails to mention it is a one-way ticket and he didn’t even visit on her day of departure leaving her to finally realize her father didn’t love her, he only wanted the money. Before being sent off Lillian was working towards a medical degree which helps in her now new endeavors. Drax is a former Battlefield Commander and the new High Councilor taking over after his father was killed during war. The rest of the council leader want him to choose a female from another area for his bride for political concerns but Drax wants a mate with no political ties who allegiance is to him and him only. He meets Lilian at the bridal facility and instantly take a liking to her because she looked disinterested in what’s going on around her and probably felt out of place like he felt. They have a mating ceremony in private and councilor Hephan is extremely pissed that Drax did not picked a bride like he wanted him to. After talking with a few people under Drax command Lilian learning that it is for political reasons he chose her she determine to make a relationship work because she believe that it may start off political but he could turn into love. With the many twist and turns in this book it’s was a very interested read. I love the fact that Lilian was willing to adapt to her new life and give it a chance. The bad guy (as I call him) has some tricks up his sleeve some more deadly than other but overall the book kept the excitement of what will he do next to foil Drax plan of peace. This was a real enjoyable read and I hope they series continues on with other character from the book.

This novel was cleanly written, with only a few missing or wrong word choices. It did not negatively impact my ability to enjoy the novel. This novel had interesting world building, though I wish the need for human brides for these aliens had been explained in a more satisfactory manner. The only explanation given is that there are few women left to the aliens due to war. Were a lot of the women warriors, and died in battle? Also, there were an abundance of native women characters in this novel, so the structure of the world in this novel did not seem to indicate a critical shortage of women. There needed to be a much better explanation for why these alien men needed to import human brides. The characterization was competent, with both hero and heroine being fairly sympathetic characters, though the heroine's timidity was a bit of a trial for this reader. This alien society is pre-industrial era, so this novel read somewhat more like a fantasy or historical romance than a space opera. There were some thrilling suspense and adventure elements to this plot that really kept this story moving. This novel was low angst and high stakes all the way through, which tends to be one of my preferred narrative structures for a romance novel. I typically have a hard time with romance novels where the stakes are low. This novel ends with a fairly satisfying Happy Ever After ending instead of a cliffhanger, so that is a plus. I recommend this novel to readers who enjoy "barbarian" alien sci-fi romances.

4 1/2 stars!

Written for mature readers (18+ years old) due to subject matter that may be a trigger or offensive to some including adult language, adult intimate scenes and violence.

This is a well written PNR about females from earth . There are a few grammatical errors but nothing major that I wasn’t able to interpret the author’s intent.

In this story, Lillian signs up for the Scaahni bridal program established on the planet of Scraul. She is very excited about seeing a different planet until she is told by another participant that she can’t return home if she is not chosen or is unhappy. That is when she realizes that he father tricked her just so he could get the money to pay his debts.

Lillian is taken to the bridal facility upon her arrival with the other 20 or so females. About a week later, a small get together is held where a man introduces himself.

Drax is the new High Councilor over Iddax. His country is in the process of merging with Endor, the country they have been at war with for years. Drax has to report to the Council, which requires that he take a mate. They are recommending a female from Endor to improve relations, but Drax refuses to let them choose his mate.

When Drax arrives at the bridal facility. He introduces himself to several females, but there is no spark. Then he sees a female standing over to herself and he makes his way to speak with her. There is just something about her. Lillian just speaks with him, there isn’t any guise; she isn’t trying too hard and she is beautiful. Drax has chosen.

Now there are just the Council, the purists that doesn’t believe that the Scaahni and humans should mix, and the opponents that feel like they should have his position.

DNF @ 17%

I was looking for an easy not so complex read and was hoping for some good ole alien alpha sexiness. What I got was fast pacing with lacking details. Aliens that spoke and acted more human than alien. A female MC who opens the story with a woe is me attitude and to make me dislike her more we deal with her massive insecurity about how no guys on earth were interested in her and her little hope in any aliens choosing her but also she's apparently a chunky gal. So naturally she can't think about the minor differences to the tall lean females of the alien race without bemoaning how she has dimples on her ass, how her belly isn't flat when laying down and she has big tah tahs.

I would just LOVE to read one book with a BBW or non-super fit chick and not read about her piss poor body image issues. Not every regular gal who isn't a size 8 has them or at least not to the degree some of these author's write them. It's annoying. It makes me instantly dislike the female MC. It reflects poorly on her character because usually it's repeatedly brought up as if we'd forget. Like thank you for giving me an accurate description of the female MC but does she have to hate herself or be so insecure that it interrupts the story? Why does this get turned into a secondary side plot most of the time?

Ugh, I'm done ranting. This pet peeve will forever plague me and so I will likely continue avoiding books with noted BBW for this reason.

Intriguing premise and a guaranteed HEA
Alien Husband (The Alien Bride Series Book 1) by Luna Kingsley is a well written alien/sci-if romance with a very intriguing premise. While most alien/sci-fi romances portray the alien race as the more advanced, Humans are more advanced than this new Alien world. In fact, it is quite like going back in time in that the alien world is very primitive
In addition to this primitive alien race and their world, the characters are very interesting and extremely compatible. There’s much anxiety about the unknown between Drax and Lillian, however, they take time, get to know one another and Lillian works through her insecurities with Drax’s persistence and ultimately love.
The plot is compelling and kept me invested in the outcome not only for Drax and Lillian, but also for the conclusion, justice for the Kingdoms involved and finally true peace for all. There’s plenty of antagonism, spies and usurping of power to keep the suspense. In this way, the book was a page turner for me.
Overall, a great read with danger, political intrigue, suspense, danger, alien/sci-fi elements and throughout it all, full of heart and heat. Drax and Lillian are bursting with love that not even conniving evil backstabbers can prevent their HEA.

A story of greed and treachery combined with a deep and lasting love!
by sewsummore

Lillian had signed up to be an alien bride and was chosen by the High Councilor himself. Drax had been fighting a war that was finally over and now it was time to look to the future. The war had taken a great toll on both sides and his warriors needed wives and new hope for a better future. His choice was a political one that was not well received by some of the councilors but once made would have to be accepted, or so he thought. His enemies tried to poison his new bride and attempted to kill Drax and his loyal friends. They escaped and with their lives only to be arrested for treason. Drax had a loyal following of men from his time in the military, when his followers regrouped and gained his release it was time to make his enemies pay. This was a story of greed and treachery combined with a deep and lasting love between Drax and his new bride. The characters of Drax and his loyal men were honest and valient while his enemies those of cowardly egotists thinking only of themselves.

Drax, the warrior king of Iddax, is being pressured by his advisors to produce an heir! Drax has absolutely no interest in a mate, but he does have a duty to his people.

Lillian, a lonely med student, longs for true love. All her life, she has never felt appreciated or cared for. Her father sells her into bondage as an intergalactic bride, which just makes her feel worse, knowing she will not find the love of her life. But then Drax choses her and she is again hopeful of finding that love! When she realizes that is not the case at all and she is only a means of creating an heir, will she walk away from it all? Or will she show Drax that she will not let him just use her, and she is more important in his life than he can imagine?

This was a good story and Lillian needs to find her HEA! She deserves it after the treatment she has been getting from the males in her life. Grab your copy and see if she is willing to stand up to her mate and make a few things clear to him!

Drax and Lillian are paired together but his choice. She signed a contract that her father basically kind of course her in with promises that if she didn’t like it she can come back. Unbeknownst to her that is not true. Drax is now the high Council and he needs to find a mate. The problem is the council wants to have him marry someone from another land instead of a human. That’s begins the adventure of this book. Lillian is not welcome in certain aspects of specific members of the high Council considering he is the one who runs the show Drax doesn’t care and he wants her because she’s not involved and he wants to have someone who does have loyalty only to him. So he needs to protect her because things keep going awry. It’s a good book for characters that are built very solidly. The adventure keeps you interested. There are no cliffhangers but an underlying story to continue the saga.

Alien romance/political thriller

Readers get a two-fer with Luna Kingsley's new book, Alien Husband. This hot and steamy romance between human Lillian and Scaahni High Councillor Drax starts out as a politically strategic move on the part of Drax, and ends up as a true love match, as H and h endure hardship, treachery, separations, and near-death experiences on their way to a personal HEA. It's sexy, exciting, and has just the right amount of angst to balance the heat. The bonus is the exciting political thriller, complete with scheming, betrayals, questionable loyalties, and power plays, as the High Councillor Drax attempts to unite two war-ravaged kingdoms and perpetuate his people by conceiving a child with Lillian. It's a great read, and I'm just about to bust, waiting for the n ext book in this fine new series. This is a voluntary ARC review.

This first book in the Alien Bride Series by Luna Kingsley was definitely an emotional and very erotic story about a woman hoping to find love and acceptance on another planet. The developing love aspect of the story is taut with emotion as Lillian and her husband, Drax the High Councilor learn about each other's likes as well as differences, both social and physical. As with most of Ms Luna's paranormal romances, the sex is out of this world in terms of hotness and eroticism as the "mating" call has its effect on the couple as they attempt to give him an heir to ensure both the survival of his species as well as the permanent practice of Earth women continuing to come to his planet for matching purposes. Looking forward to reading the other hot sci-fi paranormal romances in the series. This is a voluntary review of an Advanced Reader Copy of this book from Hidden Gems Books.

Drax and Lillian, kingdom hope....

Drax picks Lillian to be his bride-mate when he was required to take on a mate. But the high councils wanted him mate with another kingdom. He refused to be with anyone that had political ties between kingdoms in order to unite the two kingdoms.

There are deceits from within and all sides of his kingdom. There's deaths, prison, and fight for his mate with tbe support of his soldiers/followers who free him and help him regain control of the kingdom and the unity between lands, gets his mate and his miracle child born forming the stronger unity for easier times and new treaty signed to protect all the lands and kingdoms. I give this book 4 cups of steaming hot java, ☕☕☕☕.

Loved the book it was great, the story was well written and the characters are interesting. Once I started I could not put the book down from start to finish you just could not get enough left you wanting more twists and turns with Lilian was a bride did not know anything about who to, all she did was sign papers her father gave her. Drax is a High Councillor alien he chose Lilian and the chemistry between them is intense hot and steamy.

Alien Husband (Alien Bride Series) by Luna Kingsley.
Lillian Bruce is desperate for love. No matter what she does, she’s always felt disposable. Inexperienced with men, she hopes one day she’ll find someone who looks at her with desire. When her father sends her off to the brand new alien bride facility on the planet Scraul, she wonders if this will be her chance to find her special someone. Even if it is an alien.
A very good read with good characters. A likeable story. I liked the cover too. 4*.

Lillian and Drax

Her Father promised that if she went into the Bride Exchange program she could return when ever she wanted. Turned out to be a lie; one more time her father taught her how dispensable she was.

When Drax selects her to be his mate, she isn’t expecting to be selected. She also is t holding out any hope he’ll remain interested in her once she gives him an heir.

Good characters and plot (4 stars) but the writing and dialog seems stilted and doesn’t flow. Kept pulling me out of the story, having to reread for clarification. (minus 1 star)

I wanted so badly to like this book. It started off okay. I thought perhaps I would see an alien world. Sadly I got a disjointed medieval erotica supposedly placed on an alien planet. There is nothing that says alien or not Earth in this story except the author reminding us. This makes me so sad as I am anxious to find a proper alien book. I was also terribly saddened to read Drax as such a push over. He really doesn't come off as a warrior. It's just not a great story. I think there was potential but it just never happened.

Full of intrigue and plotting behind the scenes, because not all the males or females in this new planet want Earth women coming here.

The background is real sketchy, why is Earth sending women to be mates to a far planet that is much lower in technology than Earth is ? Why is noble checking up on these women? There are ways going on or just over when they land, and the women are kept segregated from the planetaries for the most part. After a lot of political manipulation there is a happy ending for one girl.

Drax is a high Councilor and one of the first to chance a mate from the females from Earth. Lillian is one of the women that was on the ship that came from Earth for the starter program. Now would be the time to get this book. I will be getting more from this author.

Human females are signing up to become brides for the Iddax Alien Males. Drax is the high Councilor and one of the first to mate with a human from Earth. Lillian is one of the human women who is slated for a male. Different kind of alien planet as there isn't much industry so this is more of a historical read than a space opera. There is an HEA for this story and no cliffhanger. All in all a pretty good story. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This book 1 in the "The Alien Bride Series" is a very well-written story about Alien Bride from the intergalactic matchmakers. He needs a wife to have his kids, and she her father sells her. These wonderfully written characters, flaws and all, will make you feel their emotions and you will root for them to make the connection. They have wonderful chemistry. I cannot wait for book 2
