I was not ready! I wasn't even a little bit prepared. I don't know what I was expecting but, this was NOT it. After reading An Illicit Seduction, if given the opportunity, I'm not 100% sure I wouldn't say no to my own personal incubus. Purely from a research perspective of course.😏😏😏 One reviewer said, "have your pantyliners on deck" and she did not lie. Whew chile! This was my first book by Chencia Higgins and, let me tell y'all, she did the damn thing! I look forward to reading more from her.

The way this story developed had me thinking I knew what was going on but I wasn’t completely sure until mid way! I realllllllly enjoyed how everything came together! Seraph’s mama and friends were a hot mess and they definitely made the story that much better! I have zero complaints! This was my first reading experience by this author and I look forward to more in the future!

I enjoyed this. I was a little worried after reading the first 3 to 4 chapters, but the book maintains my attention. It’s explicit with a tiny sprinkle of paranormal thrown in. Don’t let the paranormal aspect deter you as it was incorporated well. My only dissatisfaction was the ending. It felt abrupt. There is so much I could say, but that would contain spoilers, a lot of spoilers with wanting to know more in the way the story ended. Apart from the ending, the positives out weigh the negatives leaving me to really like this book. This story was told from Seraph’s POV and I liked the way she conveyed the story to me and how it flowed. Damien, smh, no words.
CHEMISTRY:
Damien, I secretly think he made Seraph need an ice pack for her V spot every other day. Sexually, it was a lot, but I personally felt it didn’t take away from the storyline where I felt as though it was too much sex. Now, with saying that, this is a dark romance and for me that is not only the story but sexually. There were some non consent scenes so this could be a trigger for some. Note, reading the full story explains certain things (this is not justifying actions).
SECONDARY CHARACTERS
I love Seraph’s mother and her friends. I need her mother in my life, blunt and funny. Although I liked her friends, no one stood out where you would want to see a story for them.
Overall, loved this story. It was satisfying up to 95% but I can live with that.

I feel like I was just in some type of warped all black episode of Charmed!!
This book took me all the way out! At first, I didn’t know how I felt about it. I kept saying “ion know about this” and I would take a break, but I reached that point in the book where I kept repeating “whaaattt?l” “stoppp” ... I was hooked!
Those sex scenes... GOOD LORDT! HOTTTT!!
The ending was perfect!!
Bravo Ms. Higgins for keeping us on the edge of our seats!!

So consent really doesn't mean anything right??? I could not even finish the book. I understand that it was supposed to be and erotic novel with an "alpha male" but this was not that . There's a difference between seduction and coercion, this just felt like coercion. I tried giving it a chance but after Damon doesn't listen to her protests and continues in her mothers kitchen and then proceeds to call her non-stop, then turn up at her house, i couldn't read anymore, it felt very stalkerish. This book felt rapey

I went from being scared to laughing my ass off to fanning myself with this book. This is not a romance by any means but a taboo erotic book so beware! It has dubious consent.
I was not expecting the twist that this book had but it definitely made the whole consent situation more tricky, I was definitely bothered by how harassed the main character was but I pushed through to the end and while it wasn't the best it was still an interesting experience.
The smut was good but it could have been hotter all things considered.

Illicit indeed! I have been wanting to dive into this authors work for a minute and this book was recommended to me so I said why not. When I tell you this book was so freaking good, nasty and weird as hell. It was the perfect book for the middle of spooky season. I don’t want to ruin it so all I’m gonna say is read it because it is really good!

I am down for a dark romance. I am down for an erotic romance. But I’m what I’m not down for is a romance that has dubious consent. Or really the lack of consent which is what is in this book. From the moment Damon presses up against Seraph with his hard penis, I knew that there was gonna be a problem. Seraph never gave any indication that she was attracted to Damon. None. Nada. Zilch. So why would he do that?! Unprovoked. The lack of consent gets worse from there.
I had no idea there was going to be a supernatural element to this story. So I was hella shocked when that was introduced.
The ending was not good. It just didn’t make any sense. This is definitely not a romance by any means.
