Ruth Warthan is tired of her sedentary life. She longs for adventure, excitement, and most of all love, but her overly protective parents are content for her to stay with them forever, shunning even a hint of romance. Will an advertisement for a mail-order bride in faraway Texas be the answer to her prayers, or will she find that her parents were right, and she isn’t suited for marriage or life outside their cloistered home?
Danni Roan, born in rural western Pennsylvania, has always loved the country life. Her first work published under her real name, Paula Liddle-Beem, is a collection of folk essays about childhood in the lush, green mountains of PA. Being a teacher of English and English as a Second Language for the past twelve years has only inspired Danni’s love of writing Western Historical Fiction. After receiving her Masters of Education in Teaching English as a Foreign Language she determined to indulge her passion for fiction writing. Teaching both in the USA and abroad has exposed Danni to a wide range of people from all walks of life and she tries to capture that unique character in her work.
Darwin and Ruth Rivers made for a great story!! When I first met Darwin in Beth, I had no idea he'd turn out to be such a wonderful hero! When he finally came to know Jesus, He turned Darwin into a man all of Needful could depend on. Beth needed someone just like him, someone who could see her for who she was, and love her just the way she was, and could give her a little room so she could flourish. She found that man in Darwin. Where Darwin has a more serious nature, Ruth is more outgoing and cheerful. Just what Darwin needs after his rough start in life. Their personalities compliment each other, even as the two of them bring out the best in the other.
I received a complimentary copy of this book, was not required to leave a review, and the opinion expressed is my own.
I truly loved Ruth's personality. She knew what she wanted and stepped up and made it happen. She managed to "escape" her parents home and attitudes. She had felt trapped her entire life. Now she was on her way to Needful, Texas to become a Mail Order Bride. Did she make the right decision? Will she find a husband before her parents find her? Darwin Rivers, the Hostler in town was lonely and wanted a wife in the worst way... When Ruth lays eyes on him, she goes after him immediately and they are married that day! How will this new addition to Needful fit in? Will her privileged ways keep her from what she wants the most? Darwin is just happy to have a wife and knows they will find a way to be happy together. Both have things in their past they are afraid to talk about in the beginning... It will take some drama and a bit of excitement and danger for these two to tell each other everything. The one thing they have going for them is their incredible chemistry. I loved reading this book and know you will too. The incredible secret at the end, brings Ruth to terms with the way she was raised... You won't want to miss it! I received an ARC of this book and am choosing to leave an honest review.
This us book 5 in this series and can be read as a stand alone, since Ms Roan gives you enough of backgrounds to know what’s going on. But this series is so good you’ll want to read from book one of how the then no name tent town was started when a wagon train came to live in the same area as the masters brother. And it started their town of Needful. How there were more men than women so two of the ladies started a mail order bride company to marry off some of the men and get respectable women in their town. You will fall in love with each of these characters as you get to know them and their stir, ranch, business they run. When you open one if Ms Roans books you’ll be transformed to Needful and some new friends. You’ll be offered coffee and something to eat at the gathering place The Hampton House. You’ll get caught up on everything going on in the town. You will also feel the faith and love these folks have for the Lord. As in this book the groom used to not be the man he is now, but through his testimony you learn of his transformation through Jesus love. And Ruth comes to a point through Gods love of forgiveness toward her parents that she had held anger, and disappointment toward for years. You will not regret the time you spend in this book and series
This is the best story in my mind in this series and I have loved them all so far. This one has so much going for it that just made it perfect. There is laughter, amazement, amusement, bad guys, and the wonderful folks of Needful, Texas. There is just so much more in this story that makes it a step above the others, as in all that it has and reasons I am not giving away. If you haven't started this series yet, start with the first book as it gives a backdrop to the stories and it's really good anyway. Then continue in order as it makes more sense then, when you get to this one, you'll see why I said for me it's the best yet, which still leaves room for the next ones to come. I applaud Ms. Roan, for her brilliance in this storyline, making it have more awesome writing and characters new to the story. I truly loved this story the best so far and I can't wait to read what this author has in store for more stories in this series. I highly recommend this story and this series so far to all readers. Give it a try and you won't be sorry you did.
I had no idea what to expect when I started this book. I wondered, "What is a needful bride?" " Is it a bride that cannot make decisions for herself? " Fortunately, I found that my first thoughts were all wrong.
Ruth is a bride from Pennsylvania who chose to be a Mail Order Bride in Texas to get away from her parents who wanted to make her life decisions for her. They wanted to choose her husband. Ruth made a perfectly good choice of husband for herself, which goes to show that she was capable of making that decision. And the fact that her parents wanted to drag her back to Pennsylvania shows they were probably too involved.
While this is Book #5 in this series and can be read as a stand alone, after reading it you will certainly want to go back and read the other four in the series. Every one of them show the strength and determination of the characters. This is Ruth and Darwin's story and each of their views for their future was influenced by what they had been told in their lives or what they had done in the past. The little town of Needful, Texas is full of good, helpful people, as well as some evil ones. I really enjoyed this book and highly recommend it...it's a real page turner; don't miss it.
Mail-order bride Ruth exits the stagecoach and announces “I’m here!” and spins around. She then heads into the boardinghouse with a “Hello” then spies a handsome cowboy and goes over to him and asks, “Can I have this one.” She tells him “I want you!” Then asks, “Are you available?” Ruth introduces herself to Darwin. “I’m a mail order bride, and if your looking, I’ll take you.”
I love, love, love the zany Ruth’s story. I know you are going to love it too! Get read of a great story!
Another tale of strength and determination to find a place in life that fits. Always told she was weak and unfit, Ruth just knew there was a better life somewhere. She ran to Needful, picked a husband, and fought for the home and knew she deserved. Darwin wasn't quite sure why she chose him, he just knew he wasn't about to lose the best chance he had for happiness.
I just loved, loved, loved this book. Ruth is so exuberant, happy and free for the first time in her life. Darwin has made some mistakes and he has been alone for a very long time. These two are the missing part to each other. Definitely some excitement and deception going on but it all combines to give us an exceptionally good time.
Ruth rolls into Needful, Texas like a tumbleweed and immediately chooses Darwin Rivers as her groom. What secret does she have that gives a need to a nasty wedding? Dar is over the moon until her past catches up to them and his last quickly comes to light. How to overcome their secrets is when love enters.
Darwin- a holster for/with the boarding house Ruth- babied but not spoiled by her family. I enjoyed reading this engaging story that is well written with lovable characters, especially the h she had spunk and knew what she wanted. The H and h is well suited. Their story has a wonderful HEA.
I fell in love with both of them as soon as they appeared! Their love story is so sweet and heartwarming. I smiled and giggled through most of the book. The drama added just what was needed to keep it from being too sweet.
Sensitive of feelings and others both main characters are inspiring to be kind and to be positive. Ruth runs away from home Into the arms of the first man she sees! - Babs
A young woman travels to Needful to escape the life her parents have saddled her with. And in Needful, friends become family and adventures occur and the Lord shows two strangers how to love and live lives they choose.
Danni Roan writes characters that have depth as well as few secrets! This story has everything adventure, romance, intrigue and danger! You don't want to miss this story!
This is a sweet, adventurous, exciting and loving mail order bride tale written by Danni Roan. She has done a great job with the plot and the characters, both old and recurring. You will truly enjoy discovering how Darwin and Ruth find their happily ever after.
A wonderful book about standing up for yourself, finding your own way in life and being with the person that God created you for. This was a clean book that was exciting and had a happy ending.
Ruth: A Needful Bride is a wonderful story of a young woman running away from her controlling family to find freedom and love. Choosing her husband at first sight, she fills the empty hole in his heart, raising him up from loneliness into joy.
Another great story with all of the friendly, loving people in the little town of Needful. Ruth and Darwin are such a cute couple, they were meant for each other and learned how to be a family together.
Strong, stubborn, determined, loving and innocent - all descriptions of mail order bride Ruth. God brought Ruth and Darwin together! The book has much to recommend it - action, outlaws, heroes, love and more. Lots of surprises!
I love this series! The town of Needful is so wonderful with all of its caring towns people. Everyone loves their town and the people in it. I loved all the characters but my favorite is Ruth. Ruth is so happy go lucky even if she is unhappy with her life. The relationship between Ruth and Darwin is exciting and just keeps the reader engrossed in their story. I’m so excited for the next book, I absolutely cant get enough! Was given a complimentary copy. All opinions are my own.
