Rebel Priest

Rate this book
A priest is expected to protect his flock, observe a strict vow of celibacy, and honor his vow to God.

I've always been good at obeying the rules.

And then she came.

With her, I'm eager to desecrate every sacrament. One filthy taste of pleasure and pain—one stolen touch of heavenly blasphemy—a lifetime of sacred torment.

Forbidden love is more dangerous and more intoxicating than any other kind, and the sweeter the sin, the greater the catastrophe.

By the edicts of my church, I am no longer in a state of grace.

Forgive me Father, for I have sinned.

I am a priest and she is my obsession.

This is my unholy confession.

Rebel Priest was a different book than what I expected. It was most certainly a forbidden romance due to the stations occupied by Father Bastien Casteneda and parishioner Tressa Torrado, but it didn’t truly have a taboo feel. Strangely enough, for a story that was the literal definition of sin, it was a pure love story that was sadly and beautifully told.

Reminiscent of The Thornbirds, Tressa and Bastien’s story was not one of throwing caution of the wind in a moment of passion, but rather a lifetime of grappling what it meant to love. Tressa and Bastien’s connection may have come on quickly, but their relationship to one another wasn’t one that was taken lightly. It came with the struggle to understand how God fit in to their union, and I found it ran the spectrum from sad and frustrating to introspective and emotional. I adored Father Casteneda and the battle he waged between his honest desire to be a selfless example to his entire flock, and his desire for one woman.

I did find that I had some problems with the imagery in the writing at times. While I appreciated the feel created by the almost prose-like style, there were times where I was lost in details of what happened. I missed actual actions that took place because I was confused by the metaphoric terms and assumed something else had taking place. Tressa’s backstory also slowly developed, and at times I thought I should know more about it than I did.

But, despite this, I enjoyed this story that was nothing like what I anticipated and more focused on the love and visceral emotions than it was on the true taboo.

You guys … this story is amazing . I expected to read holy unholy taboo goodness but I got sooooooo much more. Forgive me Father for I have ….. changed my panties and swooned like a lunatic reading this amazing story!

The emotional journey for both Bastien and Tressa captured not just my mind, but my soul as well. I felt this story. The good, the bad, the dark, the light and everything in between. It was just glorious. My heart was happy. The style that this author uses in her writing grabs you and doesn’t let go. I felt a pull to just keep reading and not stop. I cannot sing this book’s praises higher. It was unexpected and it devoured my heart.

This is the first book that I've read by this author and I absolutely loved it. I didn't know what to expect as this is a new author for me, but wow I'm glad I read this book it was to I read it in one sitting.

Tressa finds herself homeless and ends up at the church where she used to come when she was younger only there is someone different inside. She feels lost and has no money or a job nothing.

Bastian is father Bastian, he is the priest and will help out anyone any way he can. He is a real nice, genuine, loyal sweet guy and won't turn his back on a person looking for shelter.
When he finds out Terssa is sleeping in her car he offers her one of the church's cottage. Also a job in the day care, he just wants to help. Only fate steps in and has other plans for these two souls.
They start to have feelings for each other, forbidden feelings and forbidden love. They know they shouldn't but they can't help how they feel.
From the moment they met they knew they felt that spark only father Bastian has his faith, but can he be swayed by pure temptation ?
( NO SPOILERS ) .

This book has a fabulous story line and has twists and shockers that you won't see coming. This book will definitely hold your attention and keep you desperate for more. This book has pure passion, love, hope and faith.

I really liked this author writing style and could follow the story brilliantly. I thought the characters we're great and seeing how they navigate there feelings there forbidden love is quite something. I will definitely recommend this book to everyone because everyone should read the Rebel Priest.

I received this ARC in a giveaway and this is my honest review.

Thank You to the author and publishers for allowing me to read a copy of this book.

"Ero così vicina a lui, eppure così lontana. Le regole del suo mondo e del mio erano diverse. E le sue gli proibivano di amarmi."

Rebel Priest by Adriane Leigh is quite the emotional read with a steamy heat. It's full of feels, twists, forbidden romance, lust with a heap of sin, secrets, Father Bastien and Tressa, 2nd chance at love , passion, faith and HEA.
This story just hits all the bells. It's a fabulous read. You have a good priest who sins by night and the woman he falls for and who falls for him....without giving much more away, the struggle with their love for each other vs their faith (church, religion) is quite the emotional rollercoaster ride. Get the tissues handy and the fans handy because there are some steamy moments between Father Bastien and Tressa.
Ms. Leigh has written an amazing story about faith, love, passion and the struggle to give into temptation. Absolutely Amazing!!!

It is the first book I read from Adriane and I will surely add many more to my Kindle. I will only say one thing "wow". From the first pages I was amazed, I had never read a book like this and it was a total surprise.

If anyone can make a priest sexy, it’s you, Adriane.

I have suffered with Bastian and Tressas, this forbidden love had me at the edge of the seat, but if there is one thing I have learned all these years reading romance books, it is that love always wins.

"I’d never been so drawn to a stranger before— and certainly not someone in my confessional."

If you want to read a story full of amazing twists, love and faith, this is definitely the ideal book.

If I had to sum this book up with one word I think it we would have to be SURPRISING. So many elements of this one took me by surprise, the off the charts heat, making a priest sexy (omg the things he says!) and don't even get me started on the twists that you will not see coming. I will be checking out more from this author in the future!

“Love is an act of faith, and we do it better together.”

Wow, this is a taboo read and I am so glad to have won a copy. All thoughts, and feels following are my own. Since Tiffany Reisz Sinner series, and long ago copy of the Thorn Birds I have not had the pleasure to read such a taboo romance. You. Will. Be. Lost.

What did I like? You give up a lot....A LOT to fall in love with something taboo. This author does an outstanding job of creating a beautiful but forbidden book. There are no huge religious overtones so please do not shy away from this book. It was an incredible experience and I believe it is five stars of entertainment.

“Compassion is my religion, Father.”

It is mine as well... you don’t need confession....even though it’s good for you, nor do you need religion. Compassion towards others is food for the soul.

Would I recommend or buy? Yes... this was an amazing book and I loved it. Don’t shy from the religious overtones because we are all sinners. This was a romance that held some taboo overtones.

Thoughts for the author? Loved it.... loved the characters...loved the ending. Congratulations on your new release! You got five stars from me.... well deserved. Thanks to Booksprout and the giveaway❤️

5+ “Love is war for some; it’s only in fighting for it that we can be sure we truly love something.” stars

Wow! Honestly, I didn’t know what to expect but this was completely brilliant, compelling, raw, breathtaking, at times heartbreaking story and such a wonderful read. It is without a doubt one of my favorite books I have read this month and so far this year. It was well developed, well written and well thought out. The author knew how to develop, create the storyline and make you fall in love with her words, plot and the characters demanding your attention. The writing just flowed and had me engrossed to the story from start to finish wanting to find out what happens next. I enjoyed every minute of it and never wanted it to end. It has so much depth, powerful, poignant and effortless storytelling. I loved that it was written in first person, dual POV so I know what both characters – Bastien and Tressa – were thinking at the specific time or moments. What I loved about this story is that it wasn’t just about a forbidden love between Bastien and Tressa but also a road of self-discovery, self-doubting, forgiveness, loyalty (to oneself or the church), about grey areas – because everything is not only black and white, the difference between right and wrong, love, family and friendship. It was an enjoyable read with some twists, while delivering an intense, passionate romance and forbidden love story between Bastien and Tressa that I devoured in one sitting. It was steamy, raw, sweet romance filled with so much heart and love. The characters are brilliant, complex - layered and so likeable.

description

I loved the opening quote “Every revolution begins in the heart.” I think this exactly describes Bastien and Tressa, their relationship and them fighting their feelings later their love. Bastien and Tressa were just incredibly beautiful and amazing together. They know they shouldn’t be attracted to each other but they can’t help it. Their chemistry and tension were everything. I liked them from the moment they interacted the first time. They lit the pages with their chemistry. They are each other’s match; sinfully sexy and intense. He can’t explain what exactly is about her that gets to him; he just knows that he is inexplicably drawn to her and vice versa. This is an unconventional and complicated, forbidden love story. It’s layered, fast paced, real, emotional, with depth and edge. The pace of the story added to their romance and to them figuring out place in life and new circumstances of situation. It was flirty, fun, touching, heartbreaking and heartwarming. You know the sayings “The heart wants what it wants – or else it does not care.” Or “The heart has its reasons that reason does not know.”? The heart is often used as a figure of speech for feelings and emotions. So I think that love is not under our cognitive, conscious control. You cannot simply choose or decide who you will fall in love with much less just decide to stop loving somebody, no matter how hopeless it is. It is not a well learnt mechanical order like press play, stop or pause because when you feel, you feel deeply, with your whole heart and being. This is what happens with these two. The more time they spent together, the more they talk the more feelings involve and they start falling for each other. They had a lot going on. I love their moments and dialogues and banter; how they are just drawn to each other, how gradually they let each other in and began to trust each other. They simply understand each other. Maybe they don’t make sense but when they are together – they are just perfect and exactly what they need
Their love story is not perfect, it’s filled with thorns and obstacles but that is what makes their love story even more beautiful and perfectly imperfect. After all love conquers all.

Two words: INCREDIBLY BEAUTIFUL! It kept my attention at all times and I could not put it down. I completely adored Rebel Priest. It was addictive, angsty, slow burn, sinfully sexy and intense, emotional, heartbreaking, enthralling and raw with real characters and a lot of heart and heartbreak. With relatable, wonderful and marvelous primary and secondary characters, an effortless writing, awe-inspiring details and a journey of self-doubting, love, secrets, lies, mystery, the author takes us on an emotional and beautiful journey of the characters, their struggles and their self-discovery. It’s filled with so much love, heart and heat, effortless and poignant writing with compelling, gripping storyline. The moral of the story is that the life is unpredictable, always throwing curveballs and bringing people we least expect to into our lives who might end up changing it in many different ways. I highly recommend it.

I love priest romances -- and I was very excited to come across this one, because this type of taboo romance seems to be very rare for me to find. Unfortunately, this story fell short of the mark for me.

What I liked...
The writing, at times, is gorgeous. There were some particularly romantic quotes that I enjoyed highlighting, like this one:
"Faith carried you here, across an ocean, back into my arms. Faith walked along with you when you stood strong against the injustice you hate so much. When you stumbled, when you triumphed, when you loved, and when you worked to help others."

What I didn't like...
This novel was too angst-y for me. I wasn't a fan of the "insta-love." Neither did I like the "sweet dove" nickname.

Sometimes I would read a portion of text and feel like I missed something and would go back and reread and still didn't understand what had happened. I didn't like this clunky, disjointed feeling.

I felt like some plotlines weren't tied up by the end of the book. Maybe they were purposely left open?? I wasn't really pleased with the ending, but I don't know how I would have written it differently.

I also didn't appreciate how no safeword was used. Neither did I like how Tressa just showed up and was like "hey I'm off birth control" and they just immediately had sex with no discussion.

This book could have used a great editor. I think the potential for really good writing is there, it just needs some polishing up. All the same, this might be a good story to try if you wanted to dip your toe into the "forbidden romance" genre.

I won this ARC copy from the author. My review is not swayed by that.

This is my first book by Adriane Leigh, and I enjoyed it.

Bastien and Tressa
Bastien is the local priest and upholds his job and faith above all else, that is until he has to take confession from a stranger. A woman who through the walls of the confessional emotes feelings in him he is shocked by.
I nodded, breaking her gaze as I felt riots of energy bubbling up in unfamiliar places.

The story deepens from here, with our couple becoming romantically involved, working together within the church community.

He seemed the epitome of faith, a true living saint—and I couldn’t help the tiny whisper of rebellion that wondered if there was ever a crack in all of his pious moral armor.

Our couple fall for each other almost immediately, but the story isn't just about their romance, we also have the mystery of Tressa needing to find out who her father was/is, as her mother had always kept it secret. This in itself leads to more mystery, and when the couple are found out, and Bastien is removed from service and relocated, it is a year before Tressa tracks him down and they are reunited and the huge mystery of her parentage is revealed.

All in all not a bad story, one that I enjoyed
Thank you Adriane for the opportunity to read for you.

In all honesty, I chose this book in part for its cover. Bastien lived up to my imagination.

"Bastien was married to the man upstairs, and I was his mistress."

What do you do when you start to question everything you believe in?? This is my first book to read with a priest as the love interest. It was intriguing. Rebel Priest covered some tough issues that I imagine occur all the time in the church. The times change so much, but the institutes of faith don't.

Bastien is a man of faith who is always willing to help another. This is lucky for Tressa when she appears before his church making him question everything he thought he knew.

"I'm not the shepherd in this scenario." Desperate eyes held mine. "I'm the wolf."

Tressa is struggling with her own demons. While on this journey of self-discovery, it's great to watch Tressa's character grow.

"I was his villain. Born to break his heart, shred his soul, and teach him every life lesson he never knew he needed to learn."

I found this to be a thought-provoking, hot read.

"God isn't a voice so much as a feeling." I chose this quote from the book on which to focus. Born and raised Catholic, there are many mysteries I take completely at face value. I recognize that many would have strong opinions against this, but I do think that faith is a feeling. Faith is also trust. In light of the Catholic Church sex abuse scandals, I am not going to focus on the intimate relationships in the book, but on the internal battles that even priests have. While this is a work of fiction, it still made me realize that priests are not above feeling or wanting; they are human with the same wants and needs as everyone else.

The story was a bit darker than I normally reach for, but still enjoyable. If I just glossed over the fact that one of the main characters was a priest, it was a story about discovery, love, heartbreak, and revelations. I liked the characters and the growth that happened throughout the book. I did enjoy this book and am grateful to Adriane for choosing me to review her book.

Rebel Priest is forbidden romance at it’s finest. This story is sinfully addictive from the very first page to the very last.

Tressa is homeless, not a penny to her name and when Father Bastian discovers her on the steps of his church he offers her a place to stay and a job. These two are drawn to each other from the very first moment they met. However, Bastian is a Holy Man. He shouldn’t be having these thoughts, however he can’t help it. Tressa is a temptation he never expected to meet.

You can only fight the pull for so long and when Tressa and Bastian give in to temptation it is EXPLOSIVE. Their story isn’t an easy one. There is so much the each have to face. Despite the hard road their faith in each other continued to grow. The twists and turns of this story will draw you in, capture your soul and have you falling in love with these two people.

Rebel Priest is a sinfully addicting forbidden romance. A MUST READ!

For the love of all that's holy. This book is absolutely divine. This story will totally blow your mind, body and soul. Sizzling scenes to bring you to the pits of hell and back. Totally a new favorite for the year.
Tressa and Bastian's story will rock your world. It will most definitely keep you entertained with its story line and amazing characters.
Two people, brought together, dare I say by fate? Tressa comes to St. Michael's church hoping to get some form of help. I'm sure she never fathomed the outcome of her most recent trip to the churches steps.
Bastian, the most recent priest of the church set his life to follow the path god takes him on. Helping who he can the best he can.
Devine intervention brings these two souls together,it seems, for one mind blowing, crazy, epic ride.
5/5.

Rebel Priest is the story of two people who shouldn’t fall in love, but they do. It’s passionate, emotional, intense, and full of twists. Bastian and Tressa’s story is more than their love story. Tressa is trying to find out the truth about her past. So we have some mystery and I was wanting to find out what would happen. I was also hoping for their love story to have a happy ending even though it seemed there were too many obstacles in the way.

Well written, Rebel Priest is totally worth a read!

Oh, my heavens Rebel Priest if sinful attraction at its finest. Father Bastian is a very faithful man; he has one love at this his religion. Although his faith is soon tested when a lovely but desperate woman finds herself on his church steps.
Tressa is a woman very down on her luck. Having found herself homeless she goes to the place that she hopes will give her refuge. The moment they meet you know the air of attraction is sizzling, but he is the Father and will remain off limits. Now we will sit back and witness the attraction grow until they can longer deny themselves. Their story is fill with so much emotion, passion, love and yes, a few twists that will keep you on your toes!

I have never before read a book like this! The most amazing part was the element of surprise. This is my first time reading Adriane Leigh and I can hand on heart say I'll be adding more of her books to my TBR! Father Bastian and Tressas love was a forbidden one, due to his faith, and yet somehow love always finds a way to win. This book was full of swings and roundabouts, highs and lows and the passion was phenomenal as was the emotions throughout. If there was anyone to make a priest sound sexy, it's this author right here!

Sinful, sinful, sinful......what a book! This is a story about an amazing man. One that cares deeply for his congregation and community. A truly loving and caring man. A man that is generous to a fault. It is also a story about a man, one filled with lustful thoughts of one particular woman who he meets by chance one cold winter night. A priest by day and a totally hot sinner by night. I wasn’t sure what I was expecting with this story, it was a little unnerving yet I absolutely could not put it down! Just a little taboo with a completely unexpected ending!!

This was my first book from Adriane Leigh but it won't be the last. This was good book and I truly liked it. It kept me hooked on the story about Tressa and Father Bastien. Both of them were great characters and they were so good for each other. There was some twist I didn't see coming and I really liked how this book ended.

I received an ARC of this book from Booksprout and this is my honest review.

Forgive me Father for I have Sinned....

I know....I know, such a cliché comment after reading a book like this...lol But ohh how it was needed when you get done reading Rebel Priest by Adriane Leigh!!! It is soo naughty but man did I love every minute of it..lol

Tressa finds herself kicked out of her home, kicked to the curb with nowhere to go. She ends up on the steps of Father Bastien's doorstep seeking shelter. And shelter is what she does get..Ohhh goodness such a Hawt, emotional, and full of twists and turns kind of read!!! Loved it!!

I really liked reading 'rebel priest'. It was in a word...hot but with meaning :P I love Bastien and Tressa, their chemistry is definitely ON and I can't help but love the way they love each other. The ending makes me eager to read 'Savage Rose'.

Amazing!!! If you like forbidden, taboo romance then definitely pick this one up. I devoured it, it is that good. Don’t want to spoil anything so my review is small. Instant attraction, forbidden, awesome characters and storyline, some twists in the end that I didn’t see coming. Highly recommended.

This is my first read from this Author, but not my last. I was intrigued by the Title and Cover of the book from the get-go. I have read stories of this genre before. Taboo subjects such as love between a Priest and a woman. This story was written with lots of care and tenderness. The struggle of both characters in this relationship is well written. Emotions and anticipation are drawn from the reader. It is an exciting read, and bravo to the writer for having the courage to write so honestly about a subject that is so ignored! Its a must read, and it is unforgettable.
