I’m Izora Dawn, and I’ve been locked away for something I didn’t do. But that’s what they all say, right? When rumoured only the dangerous survive Shadowborn Prison, I know I have no choice but to fight for my life. Luckily my short time at Shadowborn Academy, home to those with dark magic seducing their souls, has taught me how to do just that.
Survival is what I’m known for in this world. Seduction is what I’m best at.
I figure the quickest way to escape this prison is by seducing the sexy new governor. With a handsome Shadow Warden watching my every move, an alpha inmate eager to protect me, and a hunky teacher from the academy desperate to free me… I might actually get out of this alive.
But in the shadows lie secrets that hold the walls of this prison together. And no one can escape them. Not even me.
Shadowborn Prison is a crossover spin-off to Shadowborn Academy. You do not need to read the latter to follow this series. One is for sure—not even the shadows can be trusted in this Enchanted Forest… 18+ Reverse Harem Dark Fae Prison Romance.
G. Bailey is a USA Today bestselling author of books that are filled with everything from dragons to pirates. Plus, fantasy worlds and breath-taking adventures. Oh, and some swoon-worthy men that no girl could forget. G. Bailey is from the very rainy U.K. where she lives with her husband, two children and three cheeky dogs.
Eh, it was okay but not my favorite from G. Bailey.
Shadowborn Prison just seemed like a nice short book for me to dive into. Well, I wasn't wrong but I also feel like I was missing some information in this one. Maybe it's just me but I just feel like this one had lots of holes within it. Which can happen when everything feels rushed for the characters or even the story.
The one thing that G doesn't disappoint on is the romance, even if it is a little bit too lusty. I even enjoyed getting to know all the characters - especially little Izora. She most definitely can pack a punch and stand up for herself. I was just worried what this prison was going to do to her towards the end. Especially with each new character that she met there - hence all my confusion.
Overall, I might dive into the next book just to see if it will get better.
It says you dont need to read the previous series but thats a lie. As someone who hasnt i can tell there was a lot of world building and background that i shouldve known before this book that made this a bit too confusing and a bit too strange to be completely enjoyable. Was it decent yes but without the worldbuilding from the previous series ot feels like your constantly trying to figure stuff out play catch up and like you started a series a book or two in rather than with a blank slate. I know some series are well done in that they only enhance the others in the same universe and that they are standalone series with nods to others but this wasnt and it had a lot of references to this chicks life before this book and not in a backstory way but in a recapping events you should already know sort of way and spoilers for the previous series instead and like for example i still dont get the weird fae world wtf ever it is. Like if its gonna be like this then it should be the regular ol stock standard fae this is more an original take so you cant even fill in the blanks from past experience and apparently the chick is like a shapeshifter like all of a sudden without warning shes a wolf? Like there was no shifter mention there was no convos with her wolf or any usual shiftery things to build that sort of concept and shes not just a wolf either ehoch at that point i had gather that oh she can shift into a wolf but also has wings or something but is also another shadow type magic thing and shes suppose to be learning light magic but you never see that and theres a lot of time jumps but no sense of actual time and skip over things and its just my brain hurts. The guys are good and distinct and even though i dont get this mysterious weird conspiracy shit the guys characters are done pretty well. But then also she just randomly shifts into a bird and like okay you can shift into more than one animal explains the lack of animal personailty even though your apparently more wolf like ... idk fuck knows but if you could shift into a bird then why do i only once and not do it like a shit tonne of other times when it wouldve been SUPER handy especially aince she doesnt lose her clothes when shifting so its not even regular like sharing a soul with an animal becoem an animal type thing its pure magic and its idk mental i just this was good concept and characters but id say if theres any chance in actually enjoying this world or series i would hope its built in the first series and that i would say 100% read the shadowborn academy series first because this is not standalone it didnt read like a standalone series. Just yeah ugh. It gets 3 stars cause i finished it and there was a lot of good things if i forget about the other stuff and just look at them idividually and of course rh is always bear and dear to me so yah 3 stars also its still confusing af by the end this isnt just a info dump at the start which i prefer to being mindfucked for an entire book but yeah cliffhangers not a fan all this lore and shit i have no idea about shits me cause thats what makes books like these. Like considering i read bear exclusively fantasy and a lot of rh and have a pretty good knowledge of a lot of mythos and fantasy tropes and creatures and all that and wasnt going in like a wet behind the ears child i shouldve been able to easily click with any fantasy genre even original ideas give you a chance to adapt to their world and this was like being dazed and confused in a maze that when you finally think youve figured a way out it changes and you realise you dont know shit and that happens at least 5 times in the book. Like i get the character is in the dark a lot but she clearly knows the world and herself and considering i picked this book up i clearly want to know that as well but the book doesnt let me its just uh damn it. Idk ill probs read the next book because frankly im a whore for rh but i wont be going in willingly and im not reading the first series because fuck sakes i shouldnt have too. This one isnt proper dark as a lot of other books have been prison trope or not but it wasnt light and happy either. And it doesnt seem like itll get any happier or anything... like its a weird hunger games ish cross like prison trope cross fae cross academy fuck up ifk i dont think the book even knows what its aiming for tbh. My brain hurts.
Whoa! I liked Izora from the Shadowborn Academy book 1 so I'm glad we get to see her in this spinoff and get to know her. You don't need to be familiar with the Shadowborn Academy series to read this but I would still recommend it. Iz is sarcastic, brave and smart. There's more going on at the prison that meets the eye and uncovering those secrets may be the only way to earn her freedom and save her own life. While in prison Iz catches the eye of one of Alphas of the prison, her warden who knows her from the academy, the governor of the prison and a professor from the academy, hell bent on saving Izora. All are sexy, protective and possessive making Izora one lucky girl.
Intriguing, sexy and full of mystery this is one read you don't want to miss out on!
First off, I am a huge fan of both of these authors. Have been for awhile. Second, I am a huge fan of the Shadowborn Academy series, to see this spinoff was a huge treat. I do not feel that you need to read the SA series in order to read this one. There are a few characters that are mentioned from there that show up here, but you really do not need to. However I would totally suggest it. It is an awesome series.
That being said Shadowborn Prison is centered around Izora who is framed for a crime she did not commit. She needs a plan to prove that she did not do it. Her plan may not be solid but it is all that she has. She needs to get close to Governor Gold and in order to do that she must win the Blood Trials. Let the games begin.
Filled with action, tension and who can Izora trust. Shadowborn Prison is going to be one of their best series yet!!
This book was so amazing that I honestly could not put down once started. These characters were great and I am loving the whole prison world/ plot. The guys are also really great and try to help her as much as they can, when they can. Just couldn't put down and am so excited for the next book.
I been antsy waiting on the next book in the Shadowborn Academy series to come out when I discovered this. Not going to lie I started off this book completely freaking lost. I even wondered if it would have been better had I not read the first in the Shadowborn series first? I just couldn't understand how we ended up convicted so freaking fast.... The book really skims over the trial period and you would think with all these magic users someone would be able to tell truth from lies? We never even got to the part about her being a Shadowborn light fae.. I mean that seems pretty significant. Granted I believe in G. Bailey, surely the answers will come.... eventually.
Once our FMC, Izora, ends up in prison it feels a lot more like an Academy than a prison anyway so I was able to sink into the story much better here. All the connections with the other characters started off a little confusing as they weren't very clearly defined so I really didn't know which dudes to friend zone and was expecting some guys to be bad guys and then they ended up not so yea there is that.
I think the first in the series has some potential though for sure. There is definitely a lot of underlying things and plots here that we have just brushed the surface of. Despite G. Bailey and her insta love/lust and fast paced plots she has an incredible imagination that is so obvious. I know I'm not really a fan of the rush and some of the stories tend to be a little hit or miss for me.. but it doesn't stop me from reading her books and enjoying the incredible skill it must take to create the worlds and stories she does. Its like the books may be small but pack a crap load of punch. Of course I'll be waiting... yet again for answers.. because I apparently hate myself starting all these series that are no where near complete yet lol.
This may be great for others, but not for me. The story has little to no build up, in my opinion. The characters had little no development, in my opinion. What did happen in the story was slow to come about.
These 2 authors forming a writing team is beyond magical!! They are both amazing authors but when they come together, it is perfection! 😍 The worlds they have created together is so detailed and unique that it is so easy to lose yourself and completely submerse yourself into what they have crafted for their readers.
This book is considered a spin off since it is set in the same world as Shadowborn Academy but I wouldn’t say you have to read that one first to understand what’s happening to Izora. There are a few cross over characters but the story with Izora and her friend Corvina (from Shadowborn Academy) appear unrelated. And I don’t think I didn’t notice how you both kept a tight lid on what has happened to Corvina in her storyline...those vague comments had me dying on the inside for the next Academy book!! 😩
The prison setting is actually an interesting environment that I wasn’t entirely sure I would enjoy but I think that seems to be the newest trend that is gaining popularity. The concept of the Blood Trials was interesting and brought some drama and action to what would have been a rather boring existence for Izora while incarcerated for a crime she didn’t commit.
Now the sexy men!!! Oooooo I love them all especially Professor Mune, Luke, and Gold. I guess I have a thing for men in authoritative positions 🤷🏻♀️ I like Axel too, he seems to bring that fun, light heartedness to Izora in such a desolate place. The sexual tension and build up is steamy!! Not too much steam in this book but the tension is there and it’s HOT!! I also love seeing Scarlett’s known BDSM elements peaking through in the background...like the promise for punishment for teasing and the leather straps on a certain someone’s bed!! Nothing happened (unfortunately) but maybe just a promise that it is in the future for Izora.
This is another perfect book by these 2 authors. The writing flowed well and never once did I say “oh this was definitely written by 2 people”. I cannot wait for the next installment of this series!! Do yourself a favor and grab this book and lose yourself in this world created by Gem and Scarlett!!!
Gahhhh! This book was To.Die.For!! I will NEVER get enough of this magical author duo! They just consume you, from start to finish and you're left with the world's biggest Flippin book-hangover! But ohhh, it's so worth it! This world of Shadowborn that these two Badd Mamma Jamma's have created is just enchanting! It's one of a kind, completely spellbinding, the perfect escape! I love nothing more than being able to fall into a book and everything else just disappears. That's exactly what happens when you read this book! The characters are so intriguing, they have you rooting, lip biting, squirming, and on the edge of your seat! Your pulse will heat with all the heart-stopping action and then you'll be suffocating on the thick lust that just wafts off the pages! Whew, Izora is one lucky Bit*Shadowborn Prison is going to be its own series called Dark Fae Paranormal Prison. It's a series that spins off Shadowborn Academy, now you don't have to read Shadowborn Academy inorder to read Shadowborn Prison. There are no gaps whatsoever, But come on, It's Freaking Amazeba//s and you don't want to miss out on all that gloriousness! I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
G Bailey and Scarlett Snow are one of my favorite writing duos! These two authors are incredibly talented on their own, but together weave quite incredible tales.
Shadowborn Prison takes place in the same world as Shadowborn Academy. You don't technically need to read both series to understand one another, but a little extra background and world building you get from reading both won't hurt!
I really love the premise of this story. I was very intrigued by the prison setting and it did not disappoint. While I enjoyed the Shadowborn Academy story, I was a little tired of the whole academy trope so the story fell a bit flat for me. But this book was just the opposite! It was a newer to me trope, very fresh and exciting, and I just couldn't get enough of the story! Izora's story is one I could not put down!
Imprisoned for a crime she didn't commit, after being taken and irrevocably changed, Izora has to learn to survive in her new setting. Though confused and afraid, Izora remains strong. She allows her rage at the injustices done to her and being committed in the prison to give her the strength she needs to endure her sentence until she can get out. And once she meets the guys, it gets a little bit easier. Luke, Axel, Gold, Memphis, and Mune all have different roles in the Shadowborn prison (and in Izora's life) and they make her stay- and her plans- a bit easier.
Izora is a fun character with some snark and a backbone. She's no simpering girl just trying to survive- no she is a strong character with plans to thrive. I can't wait to see where the Dark Face Paranormal Prison series takes her and the guys!
Warning: Intended for 18+ readers due to mature themes.
It was so enticing that I couldn’t put it down, this book grabbed my interest from the very first page. I couldn’t put it down, I had to know what happened next. The story is well written with a very good storyline. This book is Book 4 of 6 of the Fae Academy series. This is Dark Reverse Harem Paranormal Fae Romance. Shadowborn Prison is a crossover spin-off to Shadowborn Academy. You do not need to read the latter to follow this series. One is for sure, not even the shadows can be trusted in this Enchanted Forest. The shadows are her prison, and she can’t escape. Her name is Izora Dawn, and she’s been locked away for something she didn’t do, but that’s what they all say, right? When rumoured only the dangerous survive Shadowborn Prison, she knows that she has no choice but to fight for her life. Luckily her short time at Shadowborn Academy, home to those with dark magic seducing their souls, has taught her how to do just that. Survival is what she’s known for in this world, and seduction is what she’s best at; so, she figures the quickest way to escape this prison is by seducing the sexy new governor. So with all that and more this story pulls you in and holds you tight. It’s a must read. I highly recommend to everyone.
When I think I couldn't be surprised much more, these authors do it again. With Shadowborn Prison, they have a solid spin off series from the previously released Shadowborn Academy. I love the new characters that are introduced to us and the mystery surrounding te prison and the 'lab coats'. The authors kept me engaged in the story from the first to the last page, not even stopping for a short break, because I needed more.
FMC Izora is framed for a crime she didn't commit and ends up in Shadowborn Prison. She's determined to find out the truth and for that, she came up with a plan. Getting close to governor Gold is her first step. Winning the Blood trials (with a wink to the Hunger Games) is the way to gain favors. We meet some intriguing characters like Professor Mune, a silver fox/professor from Shadowborn Academy, Axel & Memphis, unofficial leaders of the prison inmates, Luke, Izora's warden and ofcourse Gold himself. The tension is palpable and the world and plot building are outstanding. Izzy is a skilled fighter and doesn't take things lying down, which makes her a target to certain inmates. But... they're not the only danger roaming the halls of Shadowborn Prison...
Ok...well initially I was unsure what I thought about this spin off from Shadowborn Academy, however I like it even better! I love Iz as the FMC...she is bada$$ and I enjoyed reading her spunk and determination! However I also have so many questions about her...there is so much revealed but also so many gaps, who is her father really? I think that one will be a shock to us all...and to get guys!
All the guys are so different and all so Intense...Gold, Luke, Axel and Scott. I admit Scott is not my favourite and I like the other three better and I like reading Iz’s interactions with them! They are far, intense, possessive and it will be fireworks as they all have to learn to share. But must of all I love Iz’s friendship with Memphis..he is a big tough softy when it comes to her!
The last couple of chapters left me with a whirlwind of emotions...there was so much happening but it was all so confusing as it come from Iz’s POV...I cannot wait to read book two as that cliffhanger had me yelling got more! This book is full of action, steam, secrets and twists and turns! Bring on book two from these two very talented authors!
I am loving the supernatural prison theme! Izy’s story hooked me from the get go. She is captured from the Shadowborn Academy and turned into a light fae against her will. The resulting explosion of power gets Izy into trouble even her Warden mum can’t get her out of. She is sentenced to 4 years at the Shadowborn Prison. Once she gets to the prison is when the fun really begins! There is plenty of violence, flirting (Can i claim all of her harem please?), intrigue and steam to keep you hooked to the last page. I loved how characters you thought you would hate end up being just as much a prisoner, even if their’s is a gilded cage. The last few chapters really had me reading fast hoping for more breadcrumbs of what is really going on. I can’t wait for book 2 to find out where Gold is, what exactly Izy’s mom knows and who is turning all these people against their will.
Izy's story sucked me in right from the beginning. This character will definitely have a yummy harem. I have my own suspicion on who the mystery brother is to one of the harem characters. 🤔 In this new prison series we learn that in the Shadowborn world you're guilty until proven innocent. And just when you think you have a handle on what's going to transpire, you're shocked with a cliffhanger and everything you thought you knew gets turned on its head. I am beyond curious to know what will happen in book 2 because...
Sorry, no spoilers. 🤷♀️ I can't (which means can't, but patiently) wait! Just like in the Olympics, I'm going for Gold. I'll serve him dessert any day of the week.
Received ARC from Author for Honest Review. I Give this Book a 3.5-4/5 Star Rating, Listing as 4.
Cliffhanger(?): Yes Heat: 2.5-3/5, this isn’t a bad rating just the heat level in Book 1, which is completely understandable lol Romance: Nothing Yet, So No Rating. Drama: 4.5/5 Suspense: 3.5/5 Dark: 1.5-2ish/5, currently low.
This is a very interesting structure of a plot and I find it fascinating, I was immediately drawn into the book but near the end I did get a little confused, this is one of those books you need to read very carefully or you’ll miss something important, so when I read it again I’ll get a better understanding. This is a really intriguing book and loved the cliffhanger! I have to see what’s next!
I received this free eARC novel from the author. This is my honest review.
I loved going back to this world, but seeing what happened to Izora instead of Corvina. I was worried I would get to much information about Corvinas story again, but that was not the case. This was completely Izoras storyline and I was engrossed in it.
I love the love interests: Luke, Axel, Gold and Scott. All of them are completely different from each other. And they are all very protective and jealous when it comes to Iz, so I'm curious to see how they react when she picks all of them!
This book had a lot of scenes that felt very The Hunger Games, but I enjoyed it because it was just different enough to make its it own.
I'm very excited to read book 2 and see what happens next!
Think about a book with a mixture of bad girls-with men (UK TV programme) and the hunger games then you'll kind of get an idea what this book is about. Dark with a bit of violence but above all plenty of scorchingly hot men - the prison Governor Gold, Prison Warden - Luke, Prison inmates - Axel and Memphis and Prison Teacher - Scott. Who wouldn't mind being locked up with all that hotness??? Blimey this book was brilliant and flaming hell what's with all these cliffhangers your giving us Ms Snow & Ms Bailey?? This one was jaw-droppingly good! Just counting down the days before book 2 comes out
I loved how shadowborn prison is a spin off from shadowborn academy. I loved the way the same world and subjects intertwined together. Izora is a fantastic sassy character. From pages one I was drawn into her predicament and wanting to see this side of the story. Each chapter gave you hope and emotions that had you hoping for Izora to escape. I loved her strength and determination in her situation. The story flowed great and had scenes that will have you gripped to the pages and swooning all at the same time. I loved the whole idea. These two authors are perfect match and it shows with their joint writing. It was hot, emotional and riveting from the get go. Amazing!
Shadow born Prison – Book 1 – G. Bailey and Scarlett Snow Prison-breaks shouldn’t be this sexy!
Izora Dawn, svelte 20-year-old and student at the Shadow born Academy, has landed in the Shadow born Prison. She is there for a crime she has not committed.
There is darkness surrounding the entire prison and we just feel that something else bigger than our main players is afoot! Izora finds herself the main attraction of the new Prison Governor, her Warden, her Teacher, her Counsellor and the majority of the other male prisoners. She’s the sexy young thing that they all desire.
As Izora plots and plans her escape, she finds herself attracted to all the wrong players for all the wrong reasons. She needs to focus herself to get her escape plan to work, but the constant sexual tension between the males in her sphere of influence is just too distracting.
There’s a wealth of information given in this first book in the series. The plot, the world building and the character depth is amazing, so you really get a sense of the entire prison system and the atmosphere that fuels the people within it, both staff and inmates.
Some steamy scenes as we expect from these authors! I loved it and cannot wait for book 2! I gave this one four fabulous stars!
I loved Shadowborn Academy, so when I saw this book, I knew I was going to have to read it. I love the world that these amazing authors have created. It is easy to get sucked into it this book and not want to put it down. Such was the case with me. I couldn't wait to see what happened next, so I kept reading. Now it is finished and I want the next book ASAP! I love the twists and turns that you don't see coming. It keeps you on your toes and wanting more. As always, the characters are strong and amazing. The world they created is believable and interesting. I am looking forward to seeing what these ladies come up with next.
***I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.*** This is the spin-off series from Shadowborn Academy and it is just as amazing! You do not need to read the Shadowborn Academy series to follow along as it is completely different. G Bailey and Scarlet Snow are amazing together and kept me turning the page at every chance.
This book is action-packed and keeps you wanting more. Once Izy is in prison, that's where the real fun starts. There is plenty of violence and steamy scenes. I know I want all of Izy's men!
OMG THAT ENDING!!!!! That ending was so crazy and I really need the next book in the series. I need to know more about Izy's mom and where Gold is.
This book in the Dark Fae Prison Series was actually less confusing then it's Dark Fae Academy series, as the story flowed much better.
But--and this is a big BUT--both series needs better editing as there words misused, misspelled, missing words or too many words. There was also a hugh continuity issue addressing who Sage was dating at the academy and mentioned in this book.
Even with type above mentioned distractors I will be giving book 2 in both series a chance before deciding it's all too much as the storyline has great potential.
A book about absolutely nothing: I learned nothing about the character. I couldn't tell you much about her background. She talks about how she's going to figure out why she's in this prison. I still don't know why she was in prison. She has about 639,268,836 men fawning over her, and she isn't turning any of them down. I randomly picked this book and can say it was a total waste of time. I will not be reading the next one if there is a next one, which I don't know why anyone would publish this trash. But anyway, don't waste your time and don't waste any money on this mess.
Well, this is interesting. I'm enjoying this more than the other series. This seems more put together and flows way better. Only thing that annoys me is when authors mix 2 series. I'm good with doing it in the same world but this gets a lot of repeats sorta because Izoras story is happening at the same time as Corvinas. I even understand why but man it annoys. I'm not docking stars for that because it's my personal preference and it probably doesn't bother most people. I think the issue with this series compared to the other is there aren't as many plot lines in this one. Or they are more subtle. This should be interesting.
Could not put down this book! I never read the shadowborn academy books so I will need to read them too. This book is really good! I loved that it was a bit original even though you do get some not. Izora is kicka$$ and I can’t wait for the next book to see what is happening since you are left with a cliffhanger. The guys are great but you don’t really get to know much about them through this book. I really left wondering if the King is her father and if the step dad and sister have to do with what is going on. A ton of excitement!
